Store is great Veteran horrible !!!! I am writing to express how extremely upset and disappointed I am with the way my dogs' recent procedures were handled. The most recent experience was completely unacceptable. After their surgeries to be fixed, both dogs were sent home without cones a basic and necessary precaution after such a major procedure. Even more concerning, they were closed for an ENTIRE week immediately afterward, leaving no contact for questions or post-operative concerns. Who performs such a significant surgery and then becomes unreachable to their patients' families? To make matters worse, one of my dogs developed serious complications and nearly lost her life. I called, left messages, texted, and emailed, desperately trying to reach someone--only to receive no response. That level of unavailability and lack of follow-up is unprofessional and unacceptable. read more

We purchased a brush for our golden doodle at the recommendation of the store manager back in February. The brush did not work and no one mentioned that if it doesn't work to bring it back within 30 days otherwise I'm out of luck. Granted this is well past the 30 day period and I was not asking for a cash refund but if they have a policy of 30 days they need to tell their customers at the point of purchase and no just a sign that's on the counter where people put their things on when they going to make a purchase. The return policy also states in the back of the receipt that the 30 day policy applies to companion animals in fresh water aquatic life purchases. A brush is not a life purchase. As with most pet owners, we buy more for them then ourselves and obviously Petco is not the place for us anymore. read more

Christine is the manager and keeps things running smoothly and efficiently. Jamie keeping my pups looking their best. I wouldn't take them anywhere else as long as these ladies are there. read more

I brought my YORKIE in for a hair cut and told them round face short ears. a YORKIE cut. The first time they did an excellent job. The next time same instructions it's in the system and when I saw her she looked nothing like a Yorkie her whole face was shaved. I didn't make a fuss but I will never return to this groomer again read more

Sam is the best!! I took my golden there for the first time today and I was SO happy with the experience. Sam was so friendly, helpful and overall a fantastic groomer. She was detailed in asking what type of cut I was interested in for Hank. When I picked him up, I was over the moon with how handsome he looked. We love the grooming salon here at Petsmart Commack. The groomers are all so nice and comforting. When you get there, they all give your dog so much TLC and attention, making sure he is ready to go to the back with them. They have a thorough procedure for checking in and checking updated vaccines prior to grooming. They take their time to do a great job, according to the package you choose. The grooming is professional and will make your dog look great. I like that they ask you exactly what you want, taking length, ears, etc., into consideration. Our dog gets so happy everytime we take him!......and this makes me happy because I have peace of mind that he is well taken care of. read more

Absolute worst! The GROOMERS are PATHETIC!!!!! Unfortunately, I had 3 appointments in the past since getting my puppy in end of October and had to cancel all 3 appointments at different times bc my 5 year old daughter was sick! shes had over 20 absences in the past 3 months due to illness. Its KINDERGARTEN. I just made an appointment for my pup for tomorrow morning and just received a call from a rude, assuming man that I have to call the day of since the last 3 appointments were cancelled the groomers make commission. So every time I cancel, the groomer loses his commission. I said my daughter was sick that's why I cancelled and I am self employed. I cannot call the day of to make a grooming appointment that takes 3 hours. He said "she was sick all 3 times?nbc it was 3 times". I said um YEA! do you know what it's like to have a 5 yr old?! shes missed over 26 absences in 3 months so do me a favor and tell your boss the 3 cancelations and the COMMISSION that was lost was for a reason. if you dont want me as a client thats fine too but I cant call in the day of to make a grooming appointmen! I own and run multiple businesses. Trust me... when I cancel it's not just disturbing your commission but it's also a disturbance to my schedule. Next time ASK for clarification and don't assume carelessness bc Thats EXACTLY what he did and how he spoke to me. read more

I'd like to share the great experience I had with Alyssa, a dog groomer, at PetSmart on Jericho Turnpike in Commack. She spent hours on my long-haired Siberian, who was tangled and matted after a poor job done by another groomer months before. Alyssa finished at closing time, and my dog has never looked better. Under the expert supervision of her team leader, Christine, Alyssa brushed out my dog's coat thoroughly, trimmed, did her nails, and brought her back to her beautiful self. I brought my golden doodle in for a bath and TRIM as my regular groomer was out of town. Well, they shaved him down from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail contrary to my instructions. I also think that they sedated him as he was very groggy when I picked him up and he hardly recognized me. VERY DISAPPOINTED!! read more

Stopped in to purchase donations for a mobile unit from Northshore Animal League heading down south to help with Hurricane Dorian. News12 reported they needed donations to help out during this catastrophic storm. I purchase a crate, a large bag of Dog food and a box of dog treats. All totaling about $100.00. I explained at the register that I was donating my items for hurricane Dorian misplaced animals and asked if they would extend a discount. The manager told me they are not offering discounts for donations related to the Hurricane. I politely said thank u and purchased my item as planned. I believe they should have extended something. I know it was my choice to donate, but the more I thought about it, the more it just didn't sit right. I believe it's just good business, they have lost me as a customer. read more

This review for the actual store and not the grooming or other services they provide at this location. I love coming here for everything my doggie needs. Lots of sales often means I buy a ton of mostly useless, fun stuff for my boy! Balls, other toys, food, treats, dog beds, clothes, etc. They have seasonal items and they go on sale quickly which makes most stuff pretty inexpensive. I'm able to bring my dog Ben with me too. Nice selection of products. This is my go to pet supply store. They also have a rewards card. read more

Christine groomed my boy Milo and he came out fantastic. Other groomers hesitated on trying to groom Milo because he was less than 6 months of age at the time we requested he be groomed. I want answers!!! My dog went in perfect and now 100 percent oxygen dependent. They claim she was perfect in her two play times and at 5pm but an hour before pickup she wasn't breathing! What happen? extremely disappointed with this place. I came in for a quick stop for rabbit food. I looked around maybe 5 times around the store and couldn't find any. I tried looking for ANYONE to help me and there was no one on the floor i was shocked after 10 minutes in the store wandering around i finally went to the cash register to ask the cashiers they said they had no idea if they sold rabbit food which i found shocking they didn't know and said she'd help me when she was done ringing up the line. I noticed she was wearing a headset and could've asked if they sold rabbit food but she didn't. i decided to leave and go to a pet store near by for better service. waste of time. read more

I really need to respond to Tarra's inaccurate review of the situation on Saturday at Commack Petsmart. Tarra's version of the events was clearly erroneous. I was there with my dog Cody. I always get great service at Commack Petsmart - especially from the salon manager Christine. Christine is very caring, gentle and sensitive to my dog's needs. I was shocked to see the scene on Saturday with "Tarra". This woman was completely unreasonable and not at all as she projected in her review. The woman was upset that her dog could not be groomed, even though the manager explained that the woman booked the wrong type of appointment. "Tarra" was yelling at the staff and Christine was trying to speak to her. The woman wasn't happy and ended up throwing a leash at Christine! It was a crazy scene! The one being aggressive was the screaming customer! No one deserves to be treated the way this customer was acting. Kudos to Christine for handling the combative customer with the utmost professionalism! I will continue to patronize Commack Petsmart for the great service that I always receive. read more

The worst grooming for my dog ever. He was shaved(practically skinned), saw groomer tugging on him roughly repeatedly (groomer was Stephanie). He looked horrible but worse yet he would not leave the house for 1 1/2 weeks. He was so uncomfortable. He was in pain. They should be shuttered and closed . Abusive and horribly untalented people work there. Run! Should be reported to the ASPCA! read more

This pet store is one of my favorites to go to! They have a huge selection in everything from food to toys! I have a regular appointments with the girls in the grooming section, and they are always very accommodating! Speaking of the grooming salon, they have one of the nicest staffs around! I have brought my dogs in numerous times and we always leave very happy. The nails are always ground to perfection and my babes smell great for days after! I've read the last few reviews, and it's unfortunate that some ignorant people have to jump on the "hate wagon" without knowing any of the REAL facts about certain incidents. Not very good. I've heard incidents about people getting their pets hurt. I had taken my yorkie there, and the person who groomed him must've cut him. He got a nasty infected cut and took a while to heal. We went to the vet and git medicine for it, now its all healed. I would not recommended. Petco is much more careful with animals. And their supposed to be all about the pets? Talk about misleading and careless. read more

Christine in the grooming salon is absolutely wonderful. I've dealt with groomers in the past and I can honestly say she is the only one I trust with my dogs. Other groomers in the past have just yes'd me to death and rushed me out only to hand me back the exact opposite of what I asked for my dogs. Christine listens and takes the time to go over details with me, and my dogs come back looking great AND happy. I hope she never leaves the salon because I do not know what I will do with out her!! I have been bringing my dog here for 4 years and worked here in the kennel for 3 of those years. And today when I forgot my credit card and wanted to enter the numbers manually (which we had done a number of times during my time working in the hotel) to pay for my dog's grooming manager Amy was rude and accused me of using potentially false credit card numbers. I now have an overdraft fee on my debit card. I will start bringing my dog to a different Petsmart in the future. read more

BEWARE!!!!!! We had our two dogs stay at this "hotel" for two nights. They also went to the "camp", which is a glass enclosed area that all the assorted breeds and sizes walk and sit around on wet concrete. Why call it camp? For an additional $19/day of course. The prices on the website are misleading, two nights boarding in a shared cage and camp came to $290.00 dollars!!!! When we picked up our dogs they were sleeping on the wet concrete floor of the camp, while a employee was spraying water on the dogs that were 'disobeying'. Awful! Our poor dogs were wet and stinky. The worst part is, it's four days later and one of our dogs has had GI issues ever since. After calling the vet, now I need to have my dog tested for gardia! (aka parasites). Poor dogs! I volunteer with Last Hope who has a location in this store so I have encountered most of the staff and they are all very nice and helpful, including the managers. The store is clean and it's easy to find whatever you are looking for. Prices are good and when I'm in a rush I just order online and do an in-store pickup which has always gone smoothly! read more

Left a message this AM for a grooming with a live person who said they would have the team leader call me later in the day. It is 5 hours later and no call back so I called them. Turns out the team leader did not come in and no one called me back to tell me not to expect the call I was promised. As I waited in line I noticed they were shaving EVERY dog and not even making an effort to cut.i brought in my puppy wheaten who had gorgeous fluffy hair that I maintained during the entire quarantine when I came to pick her up from her "trim" she was bald completely bald it was awful!!! And as I was picking her up I noticed again all they were doing to the dogs on the tables is shaving!! I could have shaved her bald with my husbands buzzers I am devistated she looks like a rescue dog. I will never return!! I love PetSmart's Pets Hotel and the people who work there! I drop my dog off daily M-F and I know without a doubt that he is in good hands. Every single employee is friendly, caring and outgoing. My puppy Rufus is a 10 month old Pit mix and he's probably the most excited & energetic (crazy) dog they care for. Most of the employees (and I hate calling them that because they've become more like friends over the past several months) have dogs too so they understand his demeanor and love him as if he was their own. Anytime I drop him off or pick him up we are always greeted with smiles and a positive attitude from everyone at the Pets Hotel, trainers and sales people. Not only are they friendly but knowledgeable too. They're always kind enough to offer advice on his training, health or diet when asked. If you're looking for a clean, friendly environment with trained personnel to care for your dog (or cat) I highly recommend PetSmart. read more

I am completely flabbergasted at the reviews for this location! I shop here at least once a week and never receive anything under 5 star service, this team truly cares about the customer experience and our fur pets! Christine, always blows me away with how patient and kind she is to everyone as she runs a busy shop... answering phones, tending to her staff and clients every need! I have followed her from store to store for years now, no one can even get remotely close to my dog to groom her but my pup loves Christine, I swear shes the animal whisperer. After reading through the reviews for this location, it saddens me that during a pandemic when we should be praising our work force, the public really is taunting...As customers, we all need to take a step back to understand the world is in such a horrible place and nothing is "that serious", to even write a bad review? I am honestly so upset as I write this post. I attempted to bring my dog in for a bath today at PetSmart and was horrified when I witnessed the treatment of a medium sized black dog getting groomed by Stephanie at the Commack location. As I waited to get checked in, the dog fell off the table because she didn't have it secured properly. She then yelled at the dog, grabbed and threw it back on the table and roughly tried to secure its neck to the choke holder so it wouldn't fall. When the dog moved around, she was rough and forceful with it and was clearly irate. She then took the dryer that looked like a vacuum cleaner and proceeded to roughly stick it on the paw of the dog who was trying to pull it away. At this point I asked for a manager. And the woman at the register said she was off today. With this, Stephanie shouted over to me "you have a problem?" I told her I absolutely did have a problem and her behavior was completely unprofessional. That her treatment of the dog was horrifying. And maybe she shouldn't be in this type of work if she didn't have the patience to work with animals who can be fidgety and excited. She said I could go right up front and tell the manager. I spoke with a manager Jessica upfront who seemed very polite and said she'd speak with her. I told her I was supposed to have an appointment and was petrified now to leave my dog in light of the treatment I saw. She said "she's never like that". I walked out and will never go to that store again. The groomer should have been made to leave immediately with the way she spoke to a customer and treated that poor dog. My heart breaks for the poor customer who has no idea that her sweet dog was being treated so abusively. What a disgrace. read more

Love the staff & groomers here! Every time I come in it's such a nice experience. The groomers always make sure to answer all of the questions I have before and after a grooming.
