We visited Banfield in Destin, FL expecting a basic check-up and urine test for our dog, but ended up being charged over $500 without being informed or asked for consent. No one called us to approve the tests, and we only learned the total when everything was done. We value quality care, but this lack of transparency was disappointing. Clients deserve to be informed and asked before being billed for such costly services. We were charged over $500 without consent or explanation. Groomers insisted on rabies certificate even tho we are in there computer and dog has rabies tag on him. They could have told us this before we sat there for 15 minutes to have his nails clipped. We did see a sign that said quick wash no appointment needed, and that was rudely shot down as they were too busy. Go up the street to Pet supply's much nicer. read more

Banfield's service at their Destin location is the worst I've experienced of 6+ other PetSmarts I've worked with. They nitpick on pricing and charge innocuous fees for normal things that the other locations have never even mentioned. Their staff is short and to the point, and unenjoyable to work with. I shop at this Petsmart because the employees always are great when I come in. During these times when staffing is light, they always greet you when you come into the store. All my questions are answered (when I have some) and the store is always stocked with the dog and cat items I always purchase for my dog and cat. It's great to see dedicated employees that live their job always make sure the customer does come first. After all, our animals are very important to us and the team at this location really is the best. read more

My pup passed away after having a procedure done at this petsmart. Within 24 hours. I'm not blaming them as things happen BUT they didn't even call or email after. I'm sure they know as the emergency vet said they forward records to them. They also know since they called me the morning after the procedure and I told them we rushed him to the emergency vet just a couple hours after picking my pup up from them. We're not just heartbroken that we lost Fury after such a simple procedure but it feels like such a slap in the face to have been taking him to Banfield for all these years and we couldn't even get a "sorry for your loss". read more

I placed an order online for delivery form door dash I received a call from Sasha and she said they didn't have about 75% of my order and that they could cancel it if I wanted to. I told her no that's ok just substitute whatever you can. During the conversation she was so polite I could tell she was walking around the store trying to complete my order. I had told her I had recently lost my horse and it been pretty rough for us and that my dog Spot has all my attention now and he's more spoiled than he already was with all the toys and clothes a dog could have. She was very sympathetic and told me multiple times she was so so sorry for my loss. I received my order today from door dash with a note and some extra gifts for my dog. I want to say thank you so much for the compassion this employee had for us! It's been rough with the loss of my beloved horse. Two of the tanks had single neon tetras (a schooling fish) by themselves, while there a was a full tank on the same shelf.. Also, a few of the other tanks had dead fish/shrimp visible. We have received the credit on our credit card for the expense of the destin animal clinic treating our pet from. Cat has a permanent scar and the fur isn't growing back like it was. This Petsmart is supposed to be in an upscale affluent area When you arrive at the entrance every time we go in which WAS once a week it smells like hot dog urine. Male dogs pee on the concrete posts in front and its not cleaned daily. It smells when thy open, in the middle of the afternoon and in the evening. It's disgusting!!!! There grooming staff are horrible groomers. Very inexperienced Every time we go in we get a different groomer because they can't keep their staff. The fat guy in the store has by far the worst customer service I have ever had to witness. He seems to hate his job and has no motivation to please customers. Every time I come in to get crickets and I see that he is working it makes me not even want to do business with you guys. He cuts me short of crickets every single time and the last time I was in your store he raised his voice at my son for touching the fish tank. I would recommend instead of giving him a raise. I have been taking my dog to the groomer and vet at Petsmart for 10-11 years. I will never give Petsmart another penny of my money after today. After dropping off my Husky to the groomer they called me within 5 minutes to tell me that after brushing my dog ALL of her hair was coming out and I needed to pick her up. I freak out thinking the worst and go back to pick her up. I walk in and it's just normal shedding from a Husky while they are losing their double coat to make way for a new one. I have gone through that twice a year for 11 years now... If their groomers don't know about how husky's coats work they don't need to be a groomer. She kept telling me it's not normal even for a Husky, so I entertain the idea mine could be different or something could be wrong, even though I'm fairly confident it was normal. So I go spend $100 to take her back to her old primary vet, because she will never go back to Banfield, and they confirm my suspicions that it's perfectly normal for a Husky and there is nothing to worry about. I'm not going to argue with a bunch of groomers, literally 4 all trying to tell me that it's not normal, all being ignorant to a breed they know nothing about obviously. read more

All in all exactly what you would expect...all things animal. I purchase a variety of things for my dog here, there is a decent selection and pricing is reasonable. Also love that my little guy can come along, he enjoys all the smells. Only wish they would carry higher quality dog food...then this would be a one stop shop! They also feature a Banfield Vet, Grooming and a Training Facility. I use the vet, it's good. I've tried the grooming for nail grinding, so-so. Never did the training, it was priced a bit steep for me. *Bonus* They don't sell cats/dogs here...they do however sell birds, fish, hamsters, hermit crabs and other fun little creatures. read more

The girls always call to remind me of the apt and document everything they do to my baby on a little sheet they give me at pickup. I can usually get an apt within a few days of calling in, vs the specialty dog groomers around here that have a few weeks wait. Also the price is pretty good considering the other shops around. Not a fan. Used their grooming salon today for the first time. I've used many other locations and this was by far the worst! The original email confirmation said it would take 2 hours to bathe and brush our dog. When we dropped him off we were told 3-4 hours. At hour 3 we called to see how much longer since our house is a 35min drive away. The girl told us 30 more minutes and he'd be done, but that they would call. 1hr 15min later we showed up and she tells us she was waiting for him to dry to call us. When he came out it was clear he had been bathed within the hour. He's not brushed and is still soaked. What were you doing the first 3 hours he was there??!! I've NEVER had a PetSmart take that long and get that poor of service. I could've done the same job in my bathtub at home! Also, we've always gotten a military discount for grooming services and this ones claims it's only given on Tuesday's. Definitely not the case at other PetSmart locations!! The employees are standing around talking and eating rather than helping anyone. They were informed that there was a puddle of pee on an isle and rather than clean it up, they put a wet floor sign. Their products were mislabeled so i was over charged and they would not correct their mistake and gave me attitude when I asked for my money back on something they charged me 20 dollars over for. The employees in the fish department were showing public affection, walking through holding hands. That is not appropriate work behavior and most definitely not what you should be doing rather than helping customers. I am very disappointed since this is one of my only options for pet supplies. Sadly I had an emergency situation with my very high strung, 80lb German Shepard and I did not get the support I needed from petsmart. I think when it's routine appointment and within business hours, they respond very well to your pet. But other than that, they don't respond well at all. I am relocating going overseas, and airlines are only flying small dogs in cabin. I tried adoption, but new owners weren't prepared to put in all time and energy to keep my dog. She tried to escape every time. I tried two different rescues, one that was a German Shepard rescue exclusively, (she tried to escape, jumped a 7 foot fence) and her phobia makes her aggressive. My dog was classified not adoptable by 2 different rescues. They recommended I put my dog to sleep. To date I am still waiting for Dr Renz her vet, to return my call for help. We have been dealing with this heartache since last week, trying to get someone in Petsmart to call me back and offer a helping hand. After all my pet has been under their care since she was 10-12 weeks old. I reached out to both private and commercial businesses for help, to no avail, and still nothing from Petsmart. I am relocating overseas this week and Dr Renz has nothing to say about her doggie patient. read more

I took my pooch to get groomed here and I have to say it's probably one of the worst grooming jobs she's ever received. It doesn't surprise me as the girls working appear to be super young and inexperienced. Everyone was really friendly and they were quick and efficient, the cut was just horrible. Her face was all choppy and her body was really uneven. I paid extra to have the nails grinded, however many of them had ridges and were sharp. They said the expressed the glands, but again I don't think they did a great job, as two days later they were expressed again (and this is NOT normal for my pooch). I am giving the groomers 2 stars because i have taken my dogs several times and the charge me am arm an a leg and they still stink when I get them back. That doesn't make any sense. The ladies are nice though but I think they chat more than they work. 5 stars to the actually store the customer service is utterly amazing. The store managers are so sweet and understanding. 5 stars to the dog trainers they are patient and know what the are doing. I would trust any of them with my dogs. read more

They didn't even bathe my dog and took the full 4 hours and completely shaved all the fur off my Australian shepherded and did not listen to our requests. The shave is also very choppy and poor. Have not had good experiences with this store. read more

Its a PetSmart. Its clean, the staff is friendly (although I've never asked them for help...) and most of the dog owners inside with their pets are very friendly. :) I've only had one mishap and the manager really helped, whereas the cashier...not so much. I can tell she wasn't happy me being there a few minutes before they closed, but the manager wanted to see me as soon as possible. (Something was wrong with the food I bought for my dog). It makes me happy to see she wanted to probably get looking on the other food. So, not overall impressed with all of the cashiers, but the management is good and the store is clean. read more

I have used their grooming services quite a few times and have had decent experiences with just getting my dog bathed and nails done. Unfortunately today it was a not a good experience. I did get my dog's coat shaved down today and requested her nails to be shortened as much as "possible" and grind. When I picked her up she came up and jumped at me in excitement to see me and I noticed blood. She was bleeding all over the floor from her nail. It got on my jeans, shoe, and was all in her paw. The groomer had put the powder on it so it would stop bleeding, but obviously didn't ensure it stopped before putting her in the crate in the back and then just bringing her to me. I also noticed another nail was bleeding that she didn't. The groomer applied powder to that one and more to the other and offered me a wet towel for my shoe and foot. Then the manager came and looked at it and said it looks like they are going to be ok. It did finally stop bleeding after applying more powder. The manager also told the groomer my dog's hair between her toes was too long and to try to trim it better. I allowed because I wanted to give it a few more minutes to ensure no more bleeding and hoped she would wash her paws off. Which she did. I just don't understand why it wasn't ensured the bleeding had stopped and have her cleaned up before calling me. The groomer was nice, but I felt the conversation she was trying to make was just to distract me from getting upset or from the manager being upset with her and not so sincere. Then I got my invoice and I had added on the grind for the nails $15 and the Hemp bath $21. But later when I was looking at the pricing I realized there was a Hemp bath add on that included the nail grind for $26. Only a $10 difference, but it would have been nice if they would have let me know and changed it to that instead of the two different add ons. Just overall a very disappointing experience today. And for $70 not worth it, especially not for my doggie! read more

While the grooming staff is pleasant enough and compassionate and has always been great with my 12yo dog (client since 2007), today's experience with an insensitive manager with no sense of urgency left a bad taste in my mouth. If you need anything from anyone with authority in this store, I hope you don't get this inconsiderate lady. The lack of desire to even think of accommodating a request was disappointing to say the least. Take your pup elsewhere to get groomed, less an issue arise that you need prompt help with. We desperately needed our two dogs nails trimmed tonight as we were going out of town. The website said the groomers were open until 9pm. When we got to the store at 7:00 the ladies said they had just changed the hours that day but graciously helped us anyway! We were in and out in less than 10 minutes and I have two happy pups. I took 2 dogs to Petsmart on Monday. A Maltese for a Bath and Full Groom with nail grinding. And a Chiweenie for Bath and Brush with nail grinding and teeth brushing. It was the absolute worst grooming experience I've had as a dog owner in 13 years. First the grooming salon refused to do the curbside pickup because I had 2 dogs. So I took the dogs in the store and back to the grooming salon. I couldn't take my dogs in because a woman was in the salon with her dog and she was on her phone. When she finally left I went in and carefully explained what I wanted. When I picked my dogs up the Chiweenie's nails had not even been trimmed. Her teeth had not been brushed. It was obvious that she hadn't had 15 minutes of brushing. The Maltese had the worst haircut she's ever had. Her ears were greasy and had not been brushed as there were still little matts of hair. The way her ears had been trimmed looked terrible. On one side of her face the tear stains were trimmed off. On the other side they were still there. I had to have someone hold her and trim them off myself. There were straggly hairs all over. She just looked awful! It was the worst $80 I've ever spent! read more

I know it's a pet-oriented corporate warehouse, but I can't dislike Petsmart. You have to love a store where you can take your dog (or lesser pet) in to be part of his/her shopping experience, while getting a little human and animal interaction, as well. And when your pet has to have it immediately, this store typically comes through. read more

Was supposed to have an appointment I made 2 weeks in advance at 1:30 pm. They called at 11:30 the morning of and asked if we could have my dog there by 12:30 instead, which we said yes and adjusted our schedules so he was there. Within 2 hours I get a call back saying he was ready with a full charge online. I get there and he's only been bathed and NO CUT like I asked because apparently he was "too hyper" for them. The ladies though nice-ish, seemed lazy and incompetent to handle a 55lb golden doodle who was a little anxious (but not aggressive or violent). It was almost like they just didn't want to mess with it and put out the effort. He barely smelled like shampoo and looked just as shaggy and messy when I brought him in. I'm currently livid and can't tolerate people who can't do their job. I would NOT recommend. Find someone else who can better handle dogs and properly groom them without over pricing. Absolutely ridiculous. I will not be going back. Put my dog and me through a hectic afternoon for absolutely no reason and didn't even do the job that was supposed to be done. If you are a new client for the Banfield Pet Hospital, they advertise a free exam and you can download a coupon to waive the exam fee. I downloaded this coupon made my appointment and came in the next day. They would not apply the coupon and said I could use it on my next visit on another pet because they were too lazy to adjust the bill in my opinion. I felt that was highly unprofessional and there will not be a next time for me after seeing how they do business. read more
