Brought my Basco here for the PetSmart Hotel. Such a great experience. Very friendly staff and they did a haircut and wash for him. I've always used PetSmart for my grooming but not this East Brunswick one. They do a fabulous job!! Basco will go back here next time we go on vacation again!!! read more

We went to this store on Saturday, September 2, 2017. It's huge and clean, especially the floors. It doesn't have a typical pet-store odor. The air smells fresh and neutral. Everything is neatly organized. There is plenty of food, accessories, toys, and pets. They have a medium-size, supervised, glass-enclosed recreational area for dogs. We have highly recommended this location to our friends and family. We plan to come back. The time spent here was enjoyable, informative, and well worth the trip. read more

If I could give no stars I would after my experience with the grooming salon. I had an appt after taking my dog for baths and nail cutting for years, our last appt was in Feb 2018. My dog is always nervous at grooming appts, she shakes as if she was being attacked by a wild animal, has been this way since being a small pup, but then is fine during her bath. After rearranging my schedule on my day off, I get there and a big production was made by the staff because my dog was nervous and an older dog. It seemed as though they've never dealt with an animal being nervous for a grooming appt. Their behavior only made myself and the dog even more uncomfortable. After speaking with the manager, the situation became even more ridiculous because she went on to say that since Feb, only six months ago...my dog has aged and could go into heart failure from nervousness! My dog has no history of heart problems and was just at the vet for a checkup and is in good health. I don't know if they have new staff there but it was an awful experience and looks like I'm going to have to find another grooming salon at this point. read more

I brought my dog in for grooming services. She's a large and nervous dog, and they were amazing in handling her and helping her be comfortable. The prices are very reasonable for this area. I like that there are windows looking in on the grooming area...another reassurance they aren't going to mistreat the animals. read more

My Sebastian always comes out of here looking and feeling great. He is a busy golden doodle who still has a lot of hyper puppy in him. Took my cat to the pet hotel when we were going away. I was upset to see that the "hotel" is literally a bunch of cages (cats get cages, dogs get a small room). There was no room for her to walk around and little stimulation (we brought her toys). She likes to run around and explore. I'm happy that I only needed to use the service for one night! She was so distraught when we picked her up! It took her a full day to readjust. read more

My three dogs were boarded in this store for 4 days last year and they all had kennel cough when we picked them up. All three!!! Now we board our dogs at the vet and have no problems and for less money. Pet Smart does have a decent selection of items in general but they are also very expensive. read more

Not a happy customer, very livid. I made reservations last Tuesday, the 24 th to have my Baby girl, Seiirarose, my cat to stay at the Pet Smart Hotel starting yesterday, the 30th till today after 4pm. I was reassured that each cat has its own cottage and this is false advertisement and very angry. My cat is in a room with other cats, over ten, in their own cage..very afraid and stress out as you can imagine and not eating or coming out for the 2 sessions play time and I told them when i made the reservations she NEVER BEEN AROUND OTHER ANIMALS..this is so wrong as they lied..and called my vet and he told i have have issues bringing her back home and all of this could have been prevented..i will be calling corporate headquarters on this unjustified nightmare!! read more

My most recent experience was excellent. I was met by a cheerful Courtney checking in at 7 AM and Jenn who groomed my dog Annie did a beautiful job! She got the best haircut ever and moisturizing shampoo that has made her skin feel better. The first ever visit my labradoodle came back looking ok. I have to say that the staff seemed friendly and caring. The second visit I expected the same result and got the complete opposite. They sure started off friendly but when it came time to pick him up they were only interested in going home. I guess we were the last appointment of the day or something. The cut was totally botched. They left patches all over his face and ears. They tried rushing me out of the store as if I wouldn't notice. After I questioned the groomer about the patches they claimed he had dry skin but immediately offered to comp the haircut. As if the money was all I was interested in. I was insulted with the attitude of the staff. They were acting as if the comp would make up for the horrible cut. The groomer Brianna walked away, sucking her teeth and rolled her eyes at me like we were in the ghetto in her high school. I simply walked away. No need for that I will never come back here not even for dog food. read more

I just want to get this out there. On Saturday evening I went to PetSmart on Rte. 18 in East Brunswick, store # 2144. I was there to get my cat some hairball medicine. While there, I asked a sales associate where I could find a food scoop. While I was talking to the associate, a bull dog attacked me without provocation. It tried to rip my clothes off. The idiot of an owner didn't know what to do, the sales associate was in shock, and I too was in shock. I was just trying to get away. When the dog finally wore itself out the owner said her dog "never did that before". She just left the store, nobody stopped her. I didn't even think to stop her, as I had to get to the bathroom and check my leg which was hurting. The dog had banged up my leg which was swelling and turning black and blue. The dog didn't break the skin, but whatever it did, hurt! The sales associate was kind enough to ask me if I was OK. I went to the manager's office. A kid was there, said she was the manager, and told me "We don't allow pet parents in the store with aggressive dogs." A very helpful, and useful corporate line! Who was there to stop this women and her aggressive dog, or to help me? I showed her the bruising and I was told if it gets worse, to come back tomorrow!! No interest in taking any information, just comeback if I want to. I decided to wait till today, Monday, and contact PetSmart's corporate headquarters. I couldn't find a corporate number. I managed to find a customer service number after digging around their website. I spoke to a customer service representative. She tried to get a general manager to help. She came back on the phone and told me that she was told they don't handle these things from their end. I should contact the store manager directly. If I have additional issues, to call back and they will take the information. She thanked me for calling PetSmart. I called the East Brunswick store directly, got a woman who said the managers were having a group meeting, but she was one of the managers. I told her what happened. She very hostilely said "Why didn't you fill out an incident report." I asked why I wasn't given one on Saturday, she said, "I don't know." I can come in and fill out a report. It's fun to be blamed for not thinking about filling out a report, given I was still shaking from being mauled. I am considering what I will do next. I suspect any incident report will be misfiled somewhere, seeing how incompetently the East Brunswick, NJ store and PetSmart in general are run. I keep thinking what if I needed shots or had to go to the hospital. For now, I will never purchase anything in any PetSmart store again!! I recommend you don't either. read more

We've used them in the past for boarding and day camp and always had a positive experience. Great feedback and a happy pup. I dropped my pup there this morning (10/3) for day camp at 730a. I got a call at 1030 saying my dog aggressively attacking another dog and they needed to use "physical restraints" and immediately crated her! We've told them in the past that our pup HATES crates and she cannot be put in one - we've always boarded her w a private room. The worker questioned us about our pup... If she's friendly, been there before, ect. My husband was home (as we were getting house work done) and immediately picked her up. He expressed his concerns and inquired about the incident. He had gotten the same story I did over the phone. We still have no idea how it started or anything - as they did not tell us. We were only informed "your dog was alert as soon as she saw the other dog". We cancelled our day camp reservation for the next day and took her to another boarding facility and stated we will never be using petsmart for boarding/day camp again. My pup is a 2 year old lab and a social butterfly. She's had many, many encounters with dogs at day camps, dog parks, dog beaches ect. Makes me wonder what actually happened after I dropped her off. read more

We had to make a last minute decision to put our yorkie in petsmarts dog hotel. The staff was very friendly and a big dog checking out seemed very happy coming out from the back. However it was worrisome that petsmart doesn't allow a tour of the facilities where pets are kept. On the third day of the stay I got a call about our dog having diarrhea, the vet within the petsmart gave me options of a bland diet, medication or blood work. Since this is most commonly caused by stress (we gave the staff our own dog food, we decided to wait a day before giving medication, we will be back to pick him up in 2 days anyways. We have asked friends he has never met to dog sit before, so it doesn't seem like him to diarrhea from stress. The next day the staff called me to let me know the diarrhea stopped, he's been happy and excited to play throughout the stay. However when we brought him home he was sneezing nonstop and now days later started to diarrhea. I made an appointment to see the vet. Hopefully just kennel cough? Our dog have all vaccines up to date, although the bordetella shot have been 8 months ago, a different boarding place (with live cams and facility tour) required the shot within 6 months, so maybe that is most effective. Anyways, maybe I shouldn't have booked group play, if he's catching the cooties there. When I made the reservation i was told first night is free, but I just realized that wasn't reflected on the bill..... all in all, I appreciate that the staff kept me updated but due to the problems with my dog after boarding I would not feel comfortable leaving him here again :( read more

A month ago I brought a case of diabetic dog food there, as prescribed by the vet there. After I took the case there were only a few cans left. I asked the store manager if he could order more. He told me that there were 20 to 40 cases in inventory and not to worry, etc. And that they always ordered more when they ran short. Well I came in yesterday to buy a few cases, and found not one can! I asked floor staff if someone could pull some from inventory. They told me they would have to call the manager. Strange. The manager shows up, and walks over to the shelf where the W/D food is supposed to be, he checks the dog food code with his hand scanner. He tells me no problem they have 3 cases in stock. After waiting for him to return for about 15 minutes, he tells me there is none in stock! I remind him that he assured me they would always have stock since its critical for diabetic dogs. He shrugs and tells me that shipping messed up. And that they get the food codes wrong all the time. He told me the store gets supplied every week, but that there is no guarantees that the W/D food would come in. I asked if he could call to make sure it would come in or order it. He said he could not. That if he did that he would be ordering a ton of things that don't get shipped. So basically I have a diabetic dog that is going to run out of diabetic prescribed food in a few days. Thanks Petsmart!!! read more

I love this place! The employees are so caring & attentive. They even have "suites" for dogs that have trouble with other dogs. So happy they opened close by. Stella is always happy when we pick her up. They will follow the pet's schedule as closely as possible, & they have someone there all night, just in case. Great place! read more

The staff at this location are very friendly and they almost always have fully stocked shelves! My only problem is the fish tanks are full of dead decaying animals.. As someone who keeps several aquariums and worked in a pet store I know what fresh decay looks like, the ghost shrimp tank had atleast 6 dead mushy shrimp that must have been there atleast 2 days. Move on to some more tanks and same thing.. I wish I could give a better rating but I can't simply because your main job is to ensure the safety of those animals, and that's not something you cut corners on. You're supposed to do HOURLY walks and in those walks you scoop dead fish, give food & water where needed to ALL animals. Fish might not be the most intelligent animals but they're still pretty smart and ammonia created by decay can literally kill them. Not to mention a variety of fish can't pass bones from dead tank mates they're sure to nibble on. Other than that this store is great, but I wont be purchasing any fish from this location as long as these conditions exist. read more

Very unsatisfied with this grooming salon, particularly the way they run their appointment services. I have been a customer for more than 3 years and have had numerous times a scheduled appointment cancelled on me and had to reschedule. I even had a time when I showed up with my dog and have been told that my appointment date was different than it said in an email confirmation. Today however, I had an experience that made me decide it is time to find someone else. I had an appointment for Saturday at 5PM but received a call day before that it needs to be rescheduled. I have agreed to bring my dog the next available day, Sunday at 1PM. Although, I have received the email about the cancellation I did not receive the email about the rescheduled date so on Saturday I called just to confirm my dogs Sunday's appointment. On Sunday, I came to the salon at 1PM and I was told that my dogs rabies have expired and that I need to show them the proof of her latest vaccinations. She had all vaccines completed and even had 3 grooming appointments done since the vaccines update. I would have expected them to tell me when making an appointment or during my confirmation call about the paperwork they will need from me. Vets are closed on Sundays and I do not carry the record with me. I had called home but my 12 year old could not find the papers and so I had to take my dog back home. Not only my dog did not get her grooming on Sunday but I was late to a business mtg. since I had to drop my dog back at home before. read more

I went in and happily bought two little goldfish from the Brunswick, Maine location yesterday. After being heavily questioned about how I would be taking care of them and exclaiming that I would need at least a 60 gallon tank for these TWO little goldfish, they finally reluctantly let me have them. I didn't get to pick them out or say what colors. Wanted, she didn't even ask, just scooped them right out before I could even notice what she was doing! I was a little annoyed at that point but I got my fish and so I was super excited. Except, THEY DIED BEFORE I GOT HOME. I love twenty minutes away, I didn't even have time to put them into their new tank. They died still in the plastic bag 15 minutes after I received them! Maybe I did something wrong but how much error is possible in less that half an hour? This leads me to believe these fish weren't healthy in the first place. For all I know, she scooped some floaters off the top to begin with. I am sad about my fish and the empty tank I now have. Will not be buying fish from here again. You shouldn't either. read more
