I am posting this review mainly for the cat adoption events that they hold at petsmart. we have adopted from the fancy cats and dogs events that they hold on most weekends. We adopted our first cat here and my mother also adopted 2 other cats here successfully. I love that they do these adoption events and have nothing but pleasant experiences with adopting them. The store itself has everything that we need. petsmart is very expensive and overpriced at times though, we try to get our pet items off of amazon for better deals. we also go to this Banfield pet hospital for our pets occasionally if they have appointment openings. the wait time is usually extremely long and I would suggest you do a drop-off appointment and go about your day before picking your pet up. there is no point waiting hours and hours for them to finish examining your pet. read more

The employees are excellent. Their folks have been helpful, getting me lights for my sons pets. They are snakes. I tolerate them, but look forward to them going to college with him one day. A quite clean store. Was surprised they had a lots of birds, including conjures for sale. I'm not sure why cockatiels are $250. Maybe someone could enlighten me on this. I made a reservation for the Pet Hotel #441 and informed the phone registrar that my dog suffered from arthritis. When I arrived to check my dog in Martin Torrico, Store Leader, completed a Pet Evaluation form with similar information to his condition. Martin proceeded to walk my dog in front of the counter and informed me due to a wobble in his walk he would not be able to stay. I was floored by this position by a Store Leader and it left me and my pet to have to scramble to find another boarding facility on a day I was scheduled to leave on a trip. My dog went for a bath, brushing, and nail trimming. The dog is 18 (ish) pound Shiba Inu who is old. We get our dog back and it seems they didn't do anything! The nails were still super long, she smelt like she never left the house, and she looked half brushed. I called and a young female who sounded like she's in high school claimed she was the "manager." She said we can bring the dog back which I had to do the next day. The manager and all the groomers basically pointed their fingers at someone else and said it was not their fault that the job was not done. Don't bother with this place. I recently adopted a puppy through the Hart Foundation and PetSmart.  I immediately registered for the puppy class.  What great luck finding my forever dog but getting a fantastic trainer as well Lee.  She really puts the best information and health information on training your puppy. My neighbors had Lee for their pet and they highly recommended Lee!.  It has been many years since I have owned a pet.  Wow, I had forgotten what work it is with a 2-month-old puppy.  I did lose about 5 pounds, that was a plus! DO NOT BOARD Boarded our dog for 3 nights for the first time. My boyfriend picked him up an hour ago and everything seemed fine. We were told he bled a little when he pooped. It has never happened to him before but I have heard of it happening to other dogs so we were told to watch his stool. no problem. As he brought him out of the store he noticed that his testicles are a bright red color, looks burned and like it is scabbing. looks super painful. He made his way back inside to ask about it and was told that they had no idea this happened and that the manager would reach out. You're telling me I left my dog here for 3 days/3 nights and the people who are literally getting paid to watch over your dog has no idea this happened? This is complete negligence on their part.I doubt that nobody noticed this, as we noticed it immediately just from walking out and being behind him. With this being the case, I also didn't get any phone calls. Not only do they have my phone number, but they also have two other emergency contacts that they could've contacted or at least left a voicemail so it wasn't a surprise at the pick up. Let's say it's a sensitive skin issue. Dogs with sensitive skin is very common. What kind of chemicals are used to clean the kennels and floors? As an owner, you would think it's cleaning supplies that are friendly for our dogs. I do not recommend from here on out. First and last experience. And I will be on top for further assistance to fixing this problem on behalf of management. read more

The woman at the front counter was very cold and did not smile at all. Was literally frowning the whole time until my Pitty made her smile...ONCE. The groomers were both friendly but the woman on the right check in counter who checked us in was rude like I said. Also, they did not trim my dogs nails. They only grinded them. Not one nail was clipped. I was charged for nail clipping and grinding but there was only grinding and his nails were not smooth. We had to file them more at home. Since we rescued her at 7 months we don't know why what happened before. Anna was horrible and the manager told us to take her somewhere else - they didn't want to see her again! They just lost my business! I called to make an Appointment with Annie. The guy that answered told me to come anytime before 330. I leave work run home get my dog and rush to PetSmart. When I got there at 320 I was told she just left .i explained to the girl sitting at the desk That I was told to come before 330 she didn't have a care in the world that I just wasted my time rushing around trying to get there ..mistakes can happen but this is the second time they have done this to me I'm not one to complain but the way this was all handled was unprofessional non caring and oh well not my problem type of attitude. i asked for a manager, a young girl that looked like she was in high school claimed to be a manager .well she needs some training on how to be a manager because her attitude was the same .sorry can't help you.. we don't have anything until Wednesday unless you want someone else .I will never go back and spend a penny in there and I spent a lot of money there I'll be bringing my business elsewhere! My dog Silo, who has anxiety issues, stayed at the hotel for 17 nights. I'm happy to say I was pleased with the service provided. Everyone I met in person or spoke with on the phone was very kind. It was easy to get in contact with someone and get updates on my baby girl, which is comforting since I was out of the country. Silo was seen at Banfield, which is on-site, due to loose bowel movements. The veterinarian who treated Silo was knowledgeable and compassionate that I'm even considering switching Banfield locations! Thank you to everyone who had a helping hand and took care of Silo. I will never EVER bring my dog back to PetSmart grooming in Fair Lakes. The groomer (Jennifer) said she'd need to shave him although I didn't agree that he needed shaving completely hairless. So, she left some fur on him, but shaved his EARS, leaving the edges looking like they'd been torn at the edges. The haircut is not even, his nails did not get taken care of, no spritz nor bandana although I paid for the full package. Got him home, he is shaking and clearly uncomfortable. We have been coming to this PetSmart for about a year, first for our cat and now for our puppy. We have loved having it so close, and have been counting down the days till our pup can go to day camp there! Our pup is now 16 weeks with all of her shots, so she was ready to Rock and Roll. We did one day and it was good, she came back acting a little strange but overall good. We decided to take her on a weekend day because we are moving into a new house and we would much rather her play all day than be in her crate.... Well we picked her after 8-9 hours of her being there. I pay and then they bring her out with her bag. She was distraught and acting funny. I look in her bag and realize that ALL OF HER BAGS OF FOOD WERE FULL!!! She was not fed, we went through an entire conversation and the associates were very apologetic and said that it was not put in the system by the team member who checked her in. They look up who checked her in and turns out it was the MANAGER! The person that trains everyone to do there job is the one who didn't log my PUPPIES food. She is 16 weeks and she went 9 hours with no food! They called the manager (Ana) who checked us in and her excuse was that I told her she ate some breakfast so she may not be hungry for breakfast, apparently that means don't feed my damn puppy all day even though I brought 3 BAGS of dog food and two treats! She then offered me a half of day... oh yes now I am all better! The associate that was helping said she didn't think that was enough and credited me a free day. I personal don't think that's enough for my 16 week puppy going without food for 9 hours. How does this even happen? Who do I call to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else? I WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THIS PETSMART FOR ANYTHING. read more

If you have a Goldendoodle or any type of poodle mix with longer fur, DO NOT take them to be groomed at the PerSmart in Fair Lakes!!! We took my Goldendoodle to the PetSmart in Fair Lakes when she was a couple months old to get her first trim. She just needed a puppy trim and not shaved or anything, as her fur wasn't nearly as long yet (she was only a few months old!) The groomer agreed, but when I came to pick her up she was COMPLETELY SHAVED DOWN. I was furious, but got over it because I knew it would grow back. My doodle is almost a year old now and we keep up with getting her groomed every 5-6 weeks at a different salon in the area because I swore I would never bring her back to PetSmart. Well, we were in a pinch and couldn't get her into our regular salon, but we wanted to get her shaved (not super short, but short enough) with summer approaching and the warm temperatures. I decided to give PetSmart another try (shame on me) and this time showed them specific pictures in addition to explaining to them how I wanted my doodle to be groomed. Once again I picked my dog up and she was completely shaved down, but this time down to the skin with barely any fur left (see picture) but they were "gracious" enough to leave all of her fur on her ears and tail. I was absolutely horrified. She looked like a completely different dog! The groomers at this PetSmart location are terrible and quite frankly just lazy. I think it was easier for them to shave her completely down rather than spending the time on giving her a proper grooming. I will NEVER take my doodle to be groomed at this location ever again and I hope this review helps to warn any other doodle owners out there that are thinking about taking their dog here to be groomed. read more

My dogs, Diesel and Bingo, were boarded at PetSmart Fairlakes from Thursday 12/22 to Friday 12/30/16. I had high hopes for their holiday stay and even purchased daily doggie day camp and extra kong treats to make sure they were happy. I called to check on them mid way through their stay and was told that things were going well. When I arrived to pick them up, after paying nearly $1,000.00 you can imagine my dismay when I realized Diesel had a less than satisfactory stay. Diesel had food left over, medicine that was not given and bodily marks that he did not arrive with. I prepackaged Diesel's food for 8 individual feedings - 4 cans of wet food and 4 full sandwich bags of dry food. When I picked him up he still had 1 and a half sandwich bags of hard food. Also, I paid for 8 days of medication dispensing. I sent 9 days worth of Rimadyl and he returned with 4 and a half days dosage. Further, I sent a full bottle of Apoquel. Diesel exited with pink eyes consistent with missing doses of Apoquel and was thus put on eye drops by our vet. The vet also recommended immediate doses of Rimadyl and Apoquel. Upon picking Diesel up I noticed extremely red paw pads, nails cut way too short and a cut on his back ankle. When I inquired about the injuries, the employee was not even sure what I was talking about. This indicates to me that either they were truly negligent and unaware or they were trying to cover some thing up. I was told that his injuries may came from the concrete floor on which he slept or from the day camp area. The employees were very nonchalant in their explanations and the mere fact that I had to discover the injuries on my own is unacceptable! When I took Diesel to my vet she stated that the ankle injury may have come from being nipped during playtime. He was prescribed topical ointment for his ankle injury to prevent infection and aid in healing. To say that I am disappointed in PetSmart would be an understatement. When I bring my dogs to a reputable facility I expect them to be taken care of in accordance with the information I provide before they are taken in. I did not expect to return from my holiday trip and pay nearly $1,000.00 for so many things to have gone awry during my dogs stay. Please see to it that this is made right and that no other pet parent has to experience such disheartening circumstances! read more

Worst PetSmart Groomers we've ever taken our dog to, be aware! We have been to many locations over the years, and this was by far the very worst experience we've had. Our dog is extremely docile and loving, an 8-year-old golden retriever who has never had a problem with any groomer; however, we were called to come to get her 1 hour into her appt because her groomer stated she was "nervous." Upon arrival, we were told she was "aggressive," and the appt was stopped because she scratched the groomer. None of that was true. They just did not want to take the time to provide service for a large breed dog. read more

For your pet's safety we beg you please STAY AWAY and PASS ON the word to other pet lovers. This is the worst experience I've ever had with ANY animal service. A quick trip to the groomers turned into hospital visit and 2+ week ordeal with our poor boy in a cone with 6 stitches, medicated for weeks. We took our old, passive dog in for a basic cut. After hours of waiting we got a casual, unapologetic call from the groomer letting us know that half way through they had CUT HIM OPEN with a sharp razor so badly that he had to be immediately rushed to the vet - where he wasn't even seen by the vet for what we believe was at least an hour. The cut was so deep and wide that their first procedure attempt was not enough so they had to sedate and give him 6 stitches. He is an old, blind dog with medical conditions but they sedated him anyway without having any medical history. We spent the entire day waiting around for them to "call us back when they knew more". It had been hours since we heard from them so I finally decided to just call them and the receptionist said "he's been ready". When we went into the store the groomers were not even remotely apologetic and completely avoided us. Even more disgusting, the manager was rude, defensive, lacked compassion and sounded like he was reading straight from a corporate handbook. We were appalled at his nonchalant attitude over the situation - as if this happens all the time! read more

** this is just for boarding ** This is my first second choice for boarding. Definitely recommend this place if your dog responds well to schedules and loves to play with other dogs. This is my backup place but I've used this location more than my primary choice this year. The staff at the hotel are all super friendly, clearly enjoy their job, and offer better customer service than the boutiquey cage-free place I prefer to take my dog because they have outdoor access. My dog has been always happy and tired, and so eager to come back that she pees practically every time in the lobby. My husband I took my daughters to PetSmart to buy some additional "furniture" for Nemo and Dory's fish tank. The fish aisle was located next to the "Doggie Day Camp" so I decided to take a look while my husband worked on his remodeling skills. Now I know at my child's daycare there was a six to one ratio, which meant one staff member could safely and successfully handle six infants at one time. Unless PetSmart has cracked the code on how to train dogs, I could not imagine why one staff member was "locked" up in an area with at least 12 dogs, one plastic slide with steps, and two spray bottles filled with water (for his and the less aggressive dogs' protection). This poor guy...he was standing in one spot most of the time watching the dogs run in a circle around him. I'm not blaming him for looking apathetic...what more could you expect from a poor guy in a room by himself with a DOZEN dogs running around him (at least four were VICIOUS). Honestly, I would have been mortified if I had walked into that store and saw my dog being bitten by another dog, which is what I witnessed on numerous occasions. I will commend the store associate for being alert though. One dog should have been wearing a bathing suit because he got his little tail sprayed at least a half dozen times for biting and snarling at the other dogs. While I had never seen that approach used before it was effective, for one whole minute, and then the aggressive dog was back at it again. My husband walked up just as a dog went to pee on the floor. The associate quickly grabbed a mop and cleaned up the mess. My husband walked away and said something to the effect of, "that is a more horrible job than working at Piggly Wiggly". For perspective, my husband worked at Piggly Wiggly in high school and was forced to stock the pet foods. He still remembers the back-breaking work of lifting the heavy cans and bags of food. It really made me pause when he stated this associate's job was worse than his experience. I'm sorry PetSmart, but it's a pretty "dumb" idea to put one associate in a room with a bunch of dogs who probably feel like a prisoner in solitary confinement. Worse, the poor associate will probably hate animals after what you've put him through. Either reduce the amount of pets one associate has to manage OR place another associate in the room to help. We had reservations to drop off two cats for a weekend, get there, warn the employee that one of the cats will probably swipe at him and whomever handles him should wear a glove. Offered to get the cat out ourselves. We should have been clued in to how dumb the kid was when he couldn't understand that the two cats were to be each fed a different kind of food. We're told not to worry about it. 5 minutes later the guy comes out with a bit of tissue on his hand and says "the cat swiped at me and drew blood. We can't take him." After all the warnings we gave to wear a glove, after the many times we've boarded him before with other Petsmarts who must actually train thier staff, this guy just stuck his hand in, no glove, got swiped, and now we need to find other boarding with no reservation. ZERO STARS if I could for the worst experience we had in this location after leaving our little puppy Bella. My daughter dropped off Bella on Sunday the 10th to stay for 4 days at the PetSmart Hotel. I picked her up on Wednesday the 14th at night. When we got home I gave her a shower but I detected a HUGE SCAR on her forehead!!!! We were in shock seeing it. We couldn't believe that my dog was INJURED and NOBODY told us anything! I immediately called Petsmart to ask what happened and made a complaint to the Mgr. she apologized but she had no idea what happened. All she said she could do was check the cameras. However, after further stating my frustration she offered to have Bella examined at the PetSmart Hospital. When I brought Bella to the PH they removed the hair in the area of the scalp I had sensed swelling and scarring and the fresh wound started bleeding. I felt so sorry for my little puppy's suffering. The manager tried to say another dog bit her but i have serious doubts. In any case my question is HOW is this allowed to happen?? We paid for our puppy to be supervised and cared for!!! Where was the supposed supervision the dogs are under? Why were they not watched by someone??!! And why were we not immediately notified? This egregious act of negligence speaks volumes about this location, and I strongly advise against going here. read more

Although I am happy PetSmart is open, I was very uncomfortable shopping there because of the pandemic. No plexiglass guard at the register, cashier not wearing mask, no ability to do a touch less purchase as the keypad kept asking me to acknowledge things like donations. I asked the cashier if she could acknowledge for me, she said no. No hand sanitizer or wipes in sight. The only preventative action that I could see was tape on the floor at 6 foot intervals.
