This is the worst customer service I have ever received in any store in my life. I was buying food for my pets, which cost $80. It was 8:40 pm, and I mention this because I wasn't just browsing. While my daughter was looking for dog and cat food, I was looking at dog bones and taking pictures of the bone I thought I should buy to send to my son. While I was doing this, an elderly woman with white hair made me uncomfortable and violated my privacy by approaching me in an unpleasant way, asking me why I was taking pictures when the bones were already on the website. I'm sure she said this because it was almost closing time. She spoke to me very rudely, and I felt extremely uncomfortable. I suggest that management address this issue and fire this unpleasant person. read more

On my way back home I knew that I needed cat litter to change out the box at home. I have been steering clear of Petco due to them never having the brand I needed and was happy to have found this on the trek home. It was a fairly quick stop for me when I came here, I knew exactly what I needed. I walked in, right to the cat section, found the litter that I needed and started to head back to the front to pay. Quick exchange of my number to look up my loyalties and I was rung up in no time. I was back out the door in record time due to this store being organized and stocked. Throw in the fact that the employees were on top of their game and made for a swift transaction, it made it that much quicker. read more

This is the second time that sent my dog back home first time because she was the only dog and the lady wanted to go early, they called to change the appointment time but I have a life and we are busy, they used the excuse of my dog getting spayed one month ago and still having open wounds which are not true, she gets spayed at Bandfield Frederick same location and her doctor agree that she is ok and the wounds are healed, the second time because we are 10 minutes late, we call because our dog throw up in the car and we running late, he said 10 minutes late is ok, we get there at 11 minutes and they refuse to take her!! For one minute!! This place is a joke, lazy offensive workers and the worst customer service from Ashley the manager same is lazy and rude like the staff, I do not recommend that place, maybe because we are Latinos? There's also discrimination in that location? We never have any issues at PetSmart before only at the Frederick location!! Absolutely disgusting!! read more

The person who does the ordering needs to be fired, plain and simple. Stopped in this past weekend AND several days prior to find empty shelves both times. Generally, only 1 out of 5 visits have stocked shelves. This is not a supply chain issue, it is an ordering (or lack thereof) issue. This person is causing the store to lose money. I took my gorgeous dog for a thorough haircut and bath and left him there thinking he would be in good hands, but when I returned to PetSmart, Kayla V was shaving my dog's hair, and I discovered how harsh she had started to be to him and how mean she had been. I noticed her harshly tugging his hair under his jaw while cutting his hair, and she had no idea I was observing. She would do this by constantly pulling his cheek or jaw hair up or down while cutting his hair. I left disappointed, and when I arrived home, I decided to check on him. I found his balls bruised and bleeding. The other groomers were also pulling on the dog's face and lip hair. I've watched many films of groomers shaving dog hair, and none of them remove the hair off the dog. What a letdown in customer service! It's hardly worth paying $130 for this service if all I saw was animal cruelty. I would not recommend taking your dog to this or any other PetSmart! As well, if you dislike your job, look for anything else to do so that you avoid hurting the well-being of animals due to a lack of professionalism. I'm expecting a full refund and hope my dog doesn't acquire an infection from having his balls scraped. read more

Better service than Petco (are they still in business?) and better prices than Petvalu. This is my go to place for when I need food for our little lord Fonteroy pug. He needs special prescription diet and PetSmart is the only place to get it. So a captive market perhaps? They make a hoop and holla about not selling cats and dogs. Instead they partner with the local animal shelters to adopt them out. Why then don't they follow this ethical approach with the other animals that they sell for profit? Yes I'm against chains making animals lives part of their profit margin. Even if it's birds and Guinea Pigs. They are friendly enough, though the friendliness is forced. I know this because I few years back I worked for this corporation. I've seen the darker things they do. However that has nothing to do with this particular store. So it would be wrong to judge them on anything other than what other customers see and experience. read more

My little bichon-poodle loves getting his hair cut at PetSmart! It was little Franklins time to get another hair cut, he has had all of his hair cuts here (and at the other Frederick location) he loves it but is also a pretty calm dog and good in these situations. I make sure to brush him well before we go so he has no tangles but if he does have some I understand the policy is to shave him so I am never surprised if he is a little shorter than I requested. Franklins appointment was at 5:30 and there were no other dogs in there so he was done in just under 2 hours! If you are nervous I would recommend talking to the groomer a lot before so both of you have an understanding of the appointment and what you want for your pup! read more

We have 4 small dogs and we prefer to get them done on the same day. This last visit instructions for how we wanted the cuts were not followed. We discovered a cut on one of the dogs. She said it was okay to buy 3 males, which it's absolutely NOT! They are constantly fighting. She told us one of the other pigs in the cage had a reaction to the bedding... Lies! They all had upper respiratory infections, which pet store guinea pigs have quite often. They sold us the wrong sized cage and lied about it being okay. I have not been as angry as I was yesterday for a LONG time. I made a grooming appointment for our senior dog for yesterday at the PetSmart on Urbana Pike in Frederick. I work everyday so in order to get the dog there I had to take 2 hours of vacation time. I called and made this appointment on Monday. I asked the woman I spoke with if I needed to bring anything with me to the appointment, such as paper work or anything. She replied no, she was looking at his file and everything was good to go. Yesterday I rushed home to get him, I was running behind because I hit traffic coming home, I called to let them know I was on my way and would be there very soon. Upon walking into the grooming salon, the girl at the counter says to me "We cannot groom your dog today because of his age. He needs to be under vet supervision to be groomed". WHAT? NO ONE, bothered to tell me thins when I made the appointment, NO ONE, bothered to call and tell me this PRIOR to the appointment. There was more conversation back and forth, I stormed out of the door and upon leaving, heard a very snide "Thank you" coming from one of the groomers. This made things even worse. I left and and promptly called the store to speak with a manager. He informed me that he did not over see the grooming but the assistant manager was there but was conducting an interview. I was told that she would call me to discuss the situation in a 1/2 to an hour. I waited patiently at my house to get the call, I had errands to run but I didn't want to have to discuss this while I was in the store. I sincerely hope someone calls me about this. At this point, and following the snide "thank you" I would not and will not take any pets to be groomed there and I will not recommend them either. I have never had an issue with PetSmart so this is very disappointing for me. read more

This review is specifically for their grooming department. I took my dog in for a nail trim early on a Wednesday morning, right after the store opened. So, they get him up on the table, get the grooming restraints around his neck and get to work. At one point, my dog yelps in pain and tries to pull his paw away. The lady says "He's just not used to it" and continues to buff his nails, only to find that he truly was in pain because his hair got caught on the equipment. Strike one. At this point, I didn't feel comfortable leaving to do any shopping around the store. Then, the cordless phone starts ringing. She answers it, which is fine-I get it. But then, she WALKS AWAY from my dog, leaving him unattended on the table to look at appointments on the computer. Meanwhile, he's trying to lay down while there's still a restraint wrapped around his neck! This happened several times. Listen, I'm not a diva about my dog and I totally understand that people have to multi-task but that's a major safety issue! I said something to her and she said something like "Yeah, sorry. We are understaffed this morning." She then called the manager in to pet my dog while she finished his nails. At this point, I'm stressed out, my dog's stressed out, and I just want to leave. Maybe I should have. I told our vet about it and she was horrified to hear this. She said that any decent grooming establishment will have a "hands on at all times" policy with animals in their care, so I'm not sure what was happening here. This is a major safety concern, especially for wiggly or nervous animals. There are so many other affordable and nice places in the area to have your dog grooming needs met. There are bad reviews here for a reason-I will definitely not be returning. read more

Disappointing: I visited yesterday during the adoption event and was able to pet & cuddle a kitty that I fell in love with. Wanting to make sure she's the right fit for my family, I brought the husband back today and was told "due to Covid" they could not allow us to handle the cat. A team member could hold her for us while we petted her but we could not handle the cat. How sad when "Covid pets" have been bought and surrendered relentlessly for the last 2 years to decline a couple who want to adopt a cat the opportunity to spend 20 minutes bonding with her to make the right decision. Not a good policy for the animals nor the potential adoptive parents. I feel like after 2 years of Covid (and we know that animals don't get covid) that the policies could be relaxed to make sure the right pets are matched with the right parents. What would you propose we do with this silly policy? Adopt her and return her in 7 days if she's not a match? Silly. Don't have animals in your store to adopt if you can't provide the right environment to make sure they are a fit for everyone. Obviously we did not adopt her. read more

I had my dog grooming appointment for full bath and full haircut recently. I paid $111 with $10 discount( I don know why the discount was offered to me ) and dog only had bath and minor trimming. I have to take him again in a month again for full hair cut. I didn't wanted to argue because i am tired of arguing with different issues every time and most of the time something is not done correctly. Only reason i have been keep coming back here is because of convenient location which is closer to my house. read more

My review from 2011 - If you care about your pet, I wouldn't recommend the grooming services at PetSmart. I took my dog there last Friday to get groomed and she came back with bruises all across her belly. My dog is less than 20 pounds and I hate to think how hard someone was grabbing her for her to have so many bruises. They gave me a refund, but it's not about the money. I don't feel like they owned up to the situation and I was never told that the groomer would be punished or fired, as she deserves. If you love your pooch, don't take them to this place. read more

I took my Chow here for a trim because his coat was dragging the ground. I specifically asked them not to use clippers. What they did to him is unacceptable. His belly is shaved to the skin, his nipples are raw from the razor hitting them, and no 2 hairs on him are the same length. He looks like he was used for a first day groomer to practice on. Not what I expected for$90.00! Also, why are the prices at this location 20 to 30% higher than the location on Osprey Way? And why are most accessories double to triple the prices on Chewy.com when Petsmart owns Chewy? I've been taking my dog here for a while but the last couple times I've gone there the groomers have been miserable. They just don't seem to love their job and it has been starting to feel like an assembly line with no love or care for the animals they are grooming. I had an appointment for a bath for my dog this morning. In the past they have always done some trimming of his hind quarters because he tends to matt a bit there. This morning the groomer refused to accept him because she wanted to charge for a full grooming and said she didn't have time to groom him. I would have to come back tomorrow for a full grooming. Bre (the manager) has been extremely patient, polite, and accommodating during all of my visits at this PetSmart. I had a flea issue with one of my outdoor cats where he just so happened to bring fleas into my home! I put in hundreds of dollars to the vet, but my issue persisted past 3 months. The vet was not accommodating so I decided to try out PetSmart. Bre greeted me and saw the look of frustration and sadness across my face. She directed me to the products I was interested in, and she helped recommend products from PetSmart, along with other stores to help treat the fleas! When a product didn't work, she happily refunded me my money while suggesting something else to try. One thing I absolutely love about PetSmart is that they price match all flea and tick treatment!!! I would definitely recommend this store to friends and family, and I will definitely be returning because of my experience with Bre! FINALLY, we have found the right treatment, and the fleas are gone! Thank you PetSmart, and most importantly, thank you Bre!!! read more

DO NOT take your dog here to be groomed. During the last grooming, my 15 pound poodle mix was cut down to the muscle and required sedation and 5 stitches. I went in trying to pick up food for my new puppy who was having stomach issues. No parasites and possible food sensitivities. I got pushed hard to buy blue buffalo/ blue diamond by the on-site rep to try their food only to find out that they have high levels of lead being reported and all vets are telling owners to stay away from this brand. Please be careful and don't listen to the reps at this store, they will misdirect you. read more

Take my dog here for grooming. He is a shihtzu and very mild mannered and friendly. Whenever we take him here we always get charged a $7 special handling fee. I was in trying to buy things for 2 kittens I was getting that day. I knew Petsmart accepted PayPal but when I got to the register I found out they only take it online. I was running out of time and panicked when the manager (Lisa) took the time with me to pull up all the essentials I needed on the internet so I could do a pick up in store order through the website on my phone. I managed to get everything I needed and get out in the nick of time. I am so grateful for her help and everyone else in the store was wonderful as well. The store is very well stocked but Petsmart training is a joke. The trainer I spoke to didn't have a dog. The other trainer had one of her dogs for 2 years and the dog isn't housebroken (NO health issues/incontinence). She told me it was because "her dog was a terrier". Her other dog refused to do any of her "tricks" without a treat visible. The third trainer gave my dog a treat after he snapped at a dog that mounted him (the dog that mounted mine was a "graduate" from their training). I asked what their training was to become a trainer and the response was a 2 hour video. PetSmart needs to reevaluate their training program. It shouldn't be called "training", but rather, the "doggie circus" (because they teach "tricks" and none of it is beneficial to dog or owner). Their is no obedience, they are unable and unqualified to address behavior, behavior management, and behavior resolution. read more

The store is great. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. However, the groomers are terrible. I have personally witnessed groomers yelling at the dogs and throwing them in the crates in the waiting/bathing area. The groomers here is awful. I took my dog here to get his nails ground down. What should be a simple thing turned in to 30 minutes. My dog peeing himself. The groomer smacking my dog as he was crying. And then they told me my dog has worms. The groomer said she found a worm on the table a she was cleaning him up from peeing himself. We took my dog to the vet, $120 later I find out he does not have worms. That what she found was left on the table from the last dog! Gross!!! read more

I dropped my Golden Retriever off to be groomed for his first (and last) grooming with PetSmart, Urbana Pike, as I was new to the area. He is 11 years old and has been groomed often/regularly in his life. I was told to pick him up at 8:30 pm. At 8:10 I received a phone call saying Leo was taken to an emergency vet located across town because Banfield was closed and that he had "hurt his paw". I race to the emergency vet to find my poor boy injured, not one injury, not two, but three separate injuries to a very sweet, calm 11-year-old dog. All three injuries were located in different areas and all were bleeding. When I reported the concern I had for him sustaining 3 injuries to their corporate headquarters they just didn't respond. Please research the horror stories of PetSmart's grooming before you place your pet in their care. I,unfortunately, researched them after my dog was subjected to what I call abuse. read more

Never taking my dog to get groomed here again. We took her in and they seemed really nice and they even called me to say she did very well.( I have a boxer btw) we paid extra for a de-shedding treatment & when we came to get her she was in this small room where they keep the dogs after they are cleaned & this room looked like it wasn't even kept clean. There was dog hair all over the floor, dirt on the walls. Kinda a weird place to place the CLEAN dogs after their bath... anyways. We don't care too much about that. The fact is we had a completely different dog when we got back home! She became sick! Within that night of taking her to PetSmart for grooming she had horrible diarrhea. And would not walk because she didn't feel good? All night long she has had problems with her stomach & she diarrhea'd ALL over herself in her kennel through the night. ( keep in mind our dog is kennel trained & hasn't soiled her kennel since she was a small puppy) we were shocked. We don't know what they gave her but whatever it was is not healthy. We paid 58 dollars for our dog to be bathed, only to come home and have to bathe her again because of the mess. DO NOT GO HERE read more

Will I have been using this Pet Smart for a while now. So I figured I do a review. My dog always seems to be happy when she leads. And I can't say that about all the groomers she's been to before. And she's usually in the groomers every two and a half months. So it's important to me to feel she's happy. And somehow you guys are able to do it. One other thing I'd like to mention is .And I love the fact that you make sure that all the dogs are up on the rabies. When they come in there. So five stars to you all. I have been taking my Yorkie to the grooming department at this PetSmart for several years now, and I didn't have any complaints until recently. Over the past year or so, I have noticed the quality and service going down, down, down. Three times I have taken my dog there and he is not ready for over FOUR HOURS! I don't claim to be a professional or an expert at pet grooming, but I'm pretty sure a 9lb dog doesn't take 4.5 hours to groom. He has 1/10 the surface area of a great dane and yet they take the same amount of time AND cost the same? The price doesn't even bother me, it's how long he is there. Dogs don't like going to the groomer and they certainly don't want to be there for the entire afternoon - every time I go to pick him up he takes a 30-second pee outside the store immediately, which tells me he's been there all afternoon without a bathroom break. FYI, they've also recently informed me that their new groomer "sucks" and yet today, guess who groomed my dog? The new groomer! And lo and behold, there are scraggly pieces of fur sticking out all over his body and he came home with dandruff! My dog hasn't had a stitch of dandruff a day in his life. I'm done with this place. I will be taking my business and my little fur baby elsewhere from now on! read more
