I've been having my dogs groomed here for the 10 years I've lived on the island without any issues. Loved every groomer we've had. Today we had a new guy, Fred...all the others are gone. He is the worst groomer and customer service representative I've ever encountered. I will not be going back to PetSmart even for products because of him. He obviously has NO TRAINING and needs to be fired. He startled my dog at check-in with another dog checking out instead of waiting until, or asking us to move our dog out of the way, which stressed my dog for the rest of the appointment; which he didn't even complete...$81 later. We asked that my dog's face be shaved as it has always been done, (beard gone, she is a mini schnauzer) he shaved her eyebrows, eye lashes, nose etc and left her ears! Read her notes from past groomers! Or ask when in doubt! In what world is this ok?! He said she was matted. All over and shaved her to the skin. There are even nicks on her and some parts of her, like her front legs and ears have long hair. I brushed her every day to make sure she was not matted; just ready for her regular grooming. I could go on and on. His defense was "he has to protect his job" . He argued and to kept saying under his breath he's been abused and not appreciated all day. We always tell the groomers our dog doesn't like her nails ground and is sensitive about her mouth and feet being messed with and they always say they will do what they can. Sometimes she nips and they have told me and they note it but tell me it's fine. They were warned. Sometimes she is ok with them touching her. It depends on who and the situation. Fred said she is aggressive and was aggressive with other dogs and very stressed out and all the groomers put it in their notes. If that were true, she never would have been allowed back for the last 5 years! In fact, whenever I would pick her up from PetSmart, they would tell me what a sweetheart she is. read more

Been to this location 10-15 times since being down here. My boxer on an electric collar... he is more disciplined than every dog you have EVER met. 2 separate employees both complimented him on how pretty he, one even petted him... then this person who has absolutely ZERO customer service... asked where is leash was... I showed her his electric collar.. he has to be on a leash... I asked where that was posted.. no where... this female dog (the lady), does not need to be in public let alone at a pet store. NEVER will I go back, and definitely am going to escalate tomorrow. She needs to be gone and an apology posted to this review. read more

January 18, 2024 Spoke to Ross [mgr] about being a volunteer at our Humane Society down the street. I wanted his blessing to be able to help socialize their cats too. i told him Drew [asst mgr] wanted Humane Society to send him proof and asked if Josh had done so; he said he recognized me as a shopper and that he had no problem letting me go in the cat adoption area unsupervised. yeah!! read more

A huge shout out of thanks to "Kris", who is unfailingly helpful whether via phone or in person. I've had special needs for two post-Hurricane Beryl wild birds, one to hopefully be released ("soft release") in April. There's been special waxworm and mealworm needs, in addition to fresh weekly medium-sized crickets (the worms arrive, albeit inconsistently, on Thursdays). So, living in Texas City, we always call ahead to see what/if our needed live food has arrived. Chris checks on the new arrival, at times sorting/pulling them before we arrive. Can't beat the service at THIS Pet Smart, vs another one in the opposite direction. Hope Kris' manager knows how exceptional he is; I intend to let their corporate office know as well. read more

Cassandra was such a sweetheart and help us out so much especially with our newly adopted furry friend. If she hasn't gotten a raise she needs one. While on vacation in Galveston our morkie, Gus, needed his nails trimmed. We stopped by Petsmart on the island and Lauren helped us. She trimmed his nails and did a great job. We then made an appointment for him to be groomed and that occurred today. We could not be more happy. Lauren and the entire team were attentive, kind and very helpful. Gus looked wonderful and was very happy when we picked him up. Thank you Lauren for taking such excellent care of our baby! I am trying to talk my husband into driving the 6 hours from home to Galveston every time Gus needs a cut and we just might do it!!! read more

Everything was great except your cashier and Doctor's assistant did not wear a mask nor keep their distance from the pet owners with the National Coronavirus at its peak! I would not recommend taking your pets to get groomed at this location. I would understand honesty and truthfulness but there was none. Makes me question the integrity of some the employee who are working here and whether the animals are being properly cared for, I tried to resolve the issue but there was no manager on site. After using pet smart for a year or so, with various problems over that time such as each time having to supply vaccination papers when they are supposed to be entered in the computer, I went to book online and the price for a bath for my dog which weighs 7 lbs had gone from 50.00 to $120.00 just for the bath that doesn't include nails or anything else he is very fluffy but really ridiculous.... In Houston the most I was ever charged at high end river oaks pet groomers was 60.00 so crazy price here at pet smart on the island! New review I no longer use the online system because of the problems mentioned above, I call in and make an appointment over the phone and the price is $24.99 for a basic bath for my Pomeranians. I have not since had any problems with the papers so happy with the service, the staff is friendly and does a good job! So definitely recommend! read more

Took our two pugs in for a Furmination and nail grind while visiting Galveston and they did a good job. Pros: Same day appointment, dogs weren't traumatized, staff was friendly Cons: Weren't quite dry when we picked them up and were a little late on getting them done. When you go to PetSmart and are worried because they are out of your brand of dogfood and there are none in the warehouse, so Mike, the GM makes some calls and has a bag sent to the store for you to pick up by lunch time! Have been taking my labradoodle in every two weeks for 5 years. Every so often they hire new people and the service slides. Today for the third time pet is returned with damp ears and tangles under ears. This becomes matts before next visit. Went back in and Pointed it out and was told that there were mats and the groomer didn't know what to do. Yeah, I guess you just give up and put the dog down, nothing else to do! Oh and don't mention it to the owner cause I'm sure they will magically disappear after he pays 60 bucks for the half done job. I will never be back. read more

My dog is a good sized GSD and like all German Shepherds she sheds huge clumps daily. Seriously she sheds enough to quilt another dog out of her hair. So... Getting her groomed decently and her nails clipped is equivalent to cleaning and setting up a teenager's room perfectly. It's real work so for the cost and the job they did... Horrible groomers at Galveston Petsmart. They did not completely wash my female dog. Left her urinary area filthy and untrimmed, injured her anal area with the clippers. NEVER called me to tell me my dogs were ready to go home. I had to just go in after 4 1/2 hours to see if they were finished. Very unprofessional grooming salon. And the manager doesn't care and will make excuses. No hope of educating the employees to provide better services. I will not put up with injury to my dogs, much less indifferent, uncaring employees and management. read more

My small dog is a rescue afraid of loud people and crowds. Imagine walking into the grooming area,where they were aware of his circumstances, to find him cowering in the center of all the groomers laughing at him. One was saying see that's all he does, just sits there. Yes, that's correct because he was literally frozen with fear. Pitiful behavior from caretakers of animals who cannot defend themselves. Some of the people that work in Fish Dept at Pet Smart here on the island are real rude!!!!! They ask you what size is your Tank.I have never been asked that any of they other the pet shop that I buy from.I have had Fish tanks for over 40 yrs and never once told me how many fish can go in a fish tank.I know just what should go in the Fish Tank and how many.All they need to do is sell the fish. read more
