My family and I go to this PetSmart for the puppy training classes. I can't say enough good things about the trainer Amparo. She is simply phenomenal! We have learned so much from her especially since we are first time dog owners. Kirby, our puppy, loves going to the classes and loves Amparo too. Definitely take your pup to classes with her. Amparo is professional, friendly, understanding and kind. The store itself is always clean, neat and does not smell bad. Employees there are friendly and it's evident they love animals. We usually do a little shopping after Kirby has his class there. All in all, a good shopping experience. read more

Great place to buy super chewer toys for those dogs on your holiday list. We are fostering also couple of dogs that can rip a standard dog toys into tiny pieces is less than 20 minutes. So we were able to find a few heavy duty rubber chew dogs that the dogs love and keeps them interested for more that a few minutes & they were on sale. read more

The staff was very friendly at this location and helpful. However, there's way too many fish in their tanks and they're sickly. Goldfish need at least 20 gallons per fish and gravel/plants to feel like they're in their natural environment. They're going crazy in a glass box trying to fight for space to swim around. I witnessed them putting the bag on top of the tanks to get the new fish used to the water and the fish were so cramped in the bag that they were stuck in the folds of the plastic and dying before my eyes. PetSmart as a whole needs to provide their chain locations with larger tanks and treat their fish like the living creatures they are. Even the associates said it's hard to watch and would never recommend a customer to keep this many fish in a tank without any rocks or plants. read more

This experience was horrible! Coming into a pet store just for dog food turned into a complete mess. They only had four of the pieces of dog food I need so I guess I am going to a different since corporate does not make this store a priority. One of the lady was just chilling in the break room thinking that there was no line on the sales floor and it was not until we eventually got to the front of the line that they opened a second register. I feel bad for the people waiting online as they had the same motive to quickly grab an item and get out of the store but I guess that's not. Will most likely not return due to the poor experience and will take my money elsewhere no excuse for business practices like these at this establishment and especially during this time of day as people are getting out of work read more

Anna/Ana Petsmart Salon manager in Garfield, Nj on Passaic street. Is extreamly rude and beyond unprofessional. With no conflict resolution skills and in my experience poor customer service skills. My Labradoodle is a little over a year old. The 1st 3x I brought my dog to Petsmart in Garfield, NJ. she got a rash on her abdomen requiring vet visit and creams. This forcing me to have to groom, bathe her at home, because I wasnt sure if they were dirty or she just had an allergic reaction to the products they use. I decided to give them 1 more chance, as I wanted a more professional look then I was accomplishing on my own. I wanted them to use hypoallergenic shampoo to see if that resolves the issue. Even though at home I use regular shampoo and she never gets a rash. I use clippers at home and she does not get a rash. The appointment was set up 3 weeks in advance. I confirmed and repeatedly instructed that she would need hypoallergenic shampoo, because of rashes she has gotten from their salon. I came in for my appointment and NOBODY was in the salon. After waiting about 10min and nobody showed up. I went to the front of the store to get an associate to find a groomer, to help me. The groomer takes a fee more minutes and looks over my fur baby. I right away explain she has matts. Mostly on the top of her tail and her legs. I explained I wanted her body to be cut VERY short. I only wanted the mop on the top of her head and the end of her tail to be left poofy. Almost an hr into the appointment, I get a phone call. MIND YOU THEY have not even started grooming my dog. The manager ANNA/ANA CHANGED THE ORIGINAL ASKING PRICE I WAS TOLD, TO LITERALLY DOUBLE. Explaining they would have to shave her short and she was matted. This after I all ready told the assessing groomer that I wanted her shaved short due to matts and that they MUST use hypoallergenic shampoo. An hr ago. After how rude ANNA/ANA was to me, infront of customers and the ICING ON THE CAKE is ANNA/ANA told me if they shaved her she would get a RASH. I decided to take my dog home and find another groomer. Why would I pay 160 dollars for my dog to get a rash? Especially after it was PETSMART SALON price error an hr ago. I would have paid $200.00 dollars for my fur baby. But after rashes, doubling quotes, unprofessional customer service by the SALON MANAGER. Not even offering to just bathe her and blow her out, or just do her face. Not honoring initial price agreed on when they 1st took my dog in. Then wasting an hr of my day and keeping my dog locked up in a cage for an hr. I do not advise using them. This was literally just a bath and buzz cut. No, teeth brushing or nail clipping, nothing fancy! and she went from before taxes 84 dollars to $157.00. Before taxes is unacceptable. That's quite a jump in price. My furbaby will be going to a professional, private salon, that honors prices,wants to form good relationships with their clients and doesn't give my baby rashes. One of the groomers gave me an attitude because of the collar I use on my Doberman. Now I wouldn't have wrote this review if my obedient puppy wasn't attacked by a bull nose terrier earlier in the store and no one said boo to the owner. Thank goodness my pup didn't get bit. To top it off the groomer told me if my pup comes back in with an e-collar they will not groom her. No problem because I won't be back. Not to mention no where does it state my pup isn't allowed to wear an e-collar. For the same price I can give my money to a small business groomer that will take good care of my furbaby without being in fear of being but by an untrained dog. read more

Made an online appointment for my dog and when I took him in they bumped the price up from $76 to $110. I didn't ask why because they said my puppy requires at least 2 people to work on him so I trusted them. However I wasn't able to pick him up so my sister went and when they got home I was furious. Took over 7 hours for a shower, cut, nail cutting, ear cleaning and teeth cleaning but all I saw was the haircut. His nails were still so sharp as well. He also seemed very sad and distant from us for a few days after this appointment. I don't know what they did but my puppy is not the same. Mind you he's 1 and still a baby. read more

Took my pup here to get groomed for the first time. The grooming salon is very well kept and clean! The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Since it was our first time, they were very detailed in explaining all the packages they had to offer. They took the time to examine my pup and make him feel comfortable. His groomer was Betzy. She was great!! She was also very accommodating because I had a doctor's appointment to get to and she tries her best to have him ready on time. The only reason why I didn't give a full 5 stars is because the turnover time is so long. I dropped my dog off at 11:30 (by appointment, NOT walk-in), and didn't pick him up until 2:15PM (about 3 hours later). I wish they would just dedicate the time to one dog at a time instead of taking so long with an appointment. We will definitely be back, but now I just know to leave more time open. read more

We brought our two puppies yesterday to see Sarah but it was a little disappointing. Although we are very grateful to Petsmart for making a Santa available at no cost to get pictures with him and our puppies, it would have been much nicer if Santa wore a white beard and not display his natural gray beard. That would have made the world of difference. While our puppies don't know the difference our friends picked up on it. I'm wondering if Santa had a white beard and just chose not to wear it. Ok so is it Pet Smart or Pets Mart or a play on both, I don't know. What I do know is that I love animals. I shop here often when I am looking for something for my princess. I like there there is a pet store nearby my house and I don't have to run into the dreaded Walmart every time I just need something pet related. The parking sitch is decent. They share a parking lot with ulta, medical center and supercuts. Which is a good thing because no one goes to any of those storefronts and you can usually find a good spot nearby. I like this store because no one is really ever around. Most times that would bother me but I have worked in pet retail and have a lot of knowledge on the subject to where I don't really need help. But on the flip side if you do not know what you need, good luck finding an associate that can help you. The fish department is subpar. They have fish but not the best selection. The employees barely know anything about the fish other then what the sticker says. The best part is when you bring the fish up to pay at the register and the cashier and fish person start yelling about mis-marked prices. They do have a cat adoption section where you can adopt cats, a small animal section where they sell small animals (hamsters, gerbils, mice, reptiles, birds, etc...) they also have an animal clinic in the back. I like the fact that they ALWAYS have a ton of stuff on clearance. I guess the store isn't super busy so they don't sell things like crazy and put it on clearance, but it definitely helps when I don't have to choose between getting my dog a toy or feeding my children. read more

My pup has been here multiple times to the groomers. On one occasion they definitely forgot about my dog. They told me I would get a call in 3-4 hours when he was ready. When it was 4 hours later I called to see where my dog was and they were like ohh uhh he'll be ready soon. I instantly headed over there, walked in, and they just started grooming him. 4 HOURS LATER. Had to cancel the rest of my plans for the day to wait for them to be done. Decided to give them another chance. Dropped the dog off at 12. Came in at 4:30 when they said he would be ready. Told me to come back at 5:30. WHY DOES IT TAKE 5 AND A HALF HOURS TO GROOM A 7 LB. DOG?!?!?! No call or anything to let me know that he would not be ready on time. And I had food in the car that I just picked up so it had to sit there to wait for him. Again, had to cancel plans I had made to wait for them to finish. The anxiety that I know both me and the dog felt after coming here is far too high to want to bring him back. They need to fix their grooming department and retrain if it takes that long to groom my dog and others as well in a timely manner. Don't overbook if you can't handle getting dogs ready when you say you will and have some respect for other people's time. read more

Groomers are always busy and have been a bit rude in the past. The store overall is well stocked, maintained, and employees are generally pleasant. Won't be continuing to use their grooming services, but will continue to be a consumer of their dog food products and toys! (I've noticed the dog food here is cheaper than Petco) read more

Iwent in to have my puppy groomed and they refused to groom him because my dog "bit" the lady and that he was very aggressive, which he obviously didn't because I was watching the whole time. They are supposedly professionals and should know how to clam down and treat a dog when they are scared of being groomed for the fort time. read more

Received a G.C. so I decided to go there to pick up some things for my cats & check it out cause it is a new store.As I walk around looking for cat food & future items to purchase, I see no sales associates to greet anyone or to even help, should someone need it. I go to the check-out & wait to be rung up. Here's the actual conversation : Me : Hi how r u? Cashier : Phone # Me : (gave info) Cashier : $23.00 So I tell her that I'm using a G.C... She points to the c.c. machine & it says DECLINED. She then ABUPTLY says "it's BECAUSE it's a G.C. NOT a c.c"...Takes it from me because as if I BOTHERED her. This is how it all ended... Me : Thank You have a nice day Cashier : Next customer I work in retail & PRIDE myself on my EXCELLENT customer service, after all its REALLY the customers that pay my salary. Sure even I can have a bad day but this cashier really should not be dealing w/ customers. I usually always go to this specific location because it's convenient to where I live, and the past few times I've decided to go the curbside pickup route-- It was a success because of the gentleman in there who usually directly helps me (not sure of his name). And today I ordered curbside pickup, and I called the store when I was outside and no one was answering. So I tried again. and still no answer. Then, I called again but got connected with the grooming salon and they 'transferred' me over to the curbside pickup line and it was still no success. So, I went inside while I was on hold and saw four different employees in the store when none of them attended to the phone that was ringing. Even after I told them the situation, they couldn't find my order while it was already paid. So, I went and got the 3 cans of dog food that I thought wouldn't be hard to have ready for curbside pickup. Being that I was on my lunch break with limited of time, this store was of no success of satisfactorily meeting my needs as I was hoping for curbside pickup. Not to generalize, but the staff working today was really unprofessional in meeting the needs of the customers. read more

I think they opened this location just for the animal hospital that's inside. The store itself has a very small selection. If you blink you'll miss the dog section. From what I've seen, the staff is friendly. This location shares its parking lot with the other stores in the strip mall, but the parking is still ok. I took my 9 month old shih tzu for a haircut last month, dropped him off & picked him up. I took him home and he was in severe pain. He was crying & refused to walk. I took him back to ask what happened to him during the visit & they denied any abuse or injury to my dog & claimed his pain was unrelated to the grooming. He has always been a strong & healthy pup. The vet there onsite said the same thing of course since he works there. I took him to my vet & there it was, he had damage in his lower back. Inflamed disk in his vertebrae caused by blunt trauma or forced pressure. My vet said that the groomer either placed her full weight on him to allow him to stay still since he was very scared as it was his first time getting a hair cut. Either that or he bit her & she hit him. Beware of this place. I don't know why such people even work there. He is just a puppy who was only getting his first hair cut. I recommend going somewhere else or you'll be stuck with a fine like mine. My pup had to get X-rays, sedation, pain meds & inflammation medication. Again, I do not recommend. read more

BEWARE of the grooming services at this location. My poochie is the sweetest dog there is. We took her there yesterday and when my daughter Michelle picked her up the staff was complaining that she wouldn't stay still, that her hair was knotted, that they will charge extra for brushing her and that she may be banned from the store. My daughter was quite upset not understanding what in the world were they talking about, our little princes is an angel. Anyway, we didn't think any of it, other than these people are crazy. Princess got home and we noticed she was not her normal self. She looked sad, was tired, not playing. So I went online to research her behaviour, what I found was astounding. Apparently, I am not the only one that has had this experience with grooming services in the big chain stores. I also found that they may have or have not sedated her and something to do with her anal gland? WTH and also the products they use on the dogs. I am soooo angry about this, princess is so stressed and sad. I am NOT DONE, I am going to get to the bottom of what treatment caused my dog to react the way she has. Several months ago we took her to another groomer and she was fine, happy licking their hands when we picked her up. THESE ARE THE GROOMERS FROM HELL. read more
