I brought my Shih Tzu in for a wash and full haircut. Needless to say Angel did not cut my dog and he was still wet. My dog has been groomed at this location for 4 years and I have never had an issue. I contacted the manager Dom over a week ago to advise of the situation. Was told I would get a call back after the cameras were reviewed. Needless to say that was over a week ago and never received a call back. I was calm and explained my situation. Updating my previous review. Staff is friendly. Store is kept clean. However it was sad to see how the sick animals were kept. They were sitting out at the checkout counter in dirty cages. One poor hamster was covered in fecies. All containers with the sick critters were dirty. No bedding, no hide. Just sitting in dirty containers. The girl moving the sick critters was just stacking their containers carelessly with what appeared to be no concern for their safety. Wish you would take better care of your animals. Just because they're sick doesn't mean you should treat them poorly. UPDATE 2/22/2025 Went in today and noticed this location keeps their Beta fish in FILTHY conditions. While in there it appeared they were pulling the dirty containers and putting NEW fish containers out. So are you cleaning or throwing them away? This isn't the first time I saw mistreatments of the animals at this location. Who can I call to report animal neglect/abuse at this store? Looking into this now to report this location. I have 2 gripes with petsmartis - 1... with the pet grooming and cleaning service. They mixed up my paperwork with another owner/dog. We got the right dog but the girls working didn't even try to hide it from me. I had to sign a paper for a different dog/owner. I completely understand 1 mix up but now to save their a** they made 2 people sign the wrong paperwork. And - 2... the training course seemed haphazardly assembled and the girl quit halfway through and we had to deal with a 4 week delay so they could hire a second trainer whom was in the military and had to leave at the drop of a hat. He did things totally different than the previous girl. I'll be spending my money at your competition from now on. read more

Yesterday was my first time using PetSmart grooming for my almost 7 year old mutt. For the last 2 years I've been using Petco. Before that I was doing it all myself. I chose to leave Petco after trying 2 locations & not feeling like the customer service was there, the communication & life for my animal & others. Personally I don't think one is better than the other as far as the company goes. But the customer service will always leave an impact. & neither in the New Orleans Metro area is at satisfactory level. read more

They advertise Yappy Hour where from 2-6 pm Monday to Friday, you get $5 off of grooming including trim nail and grind. No appointment is needed according to the sign in their store and online. First of all, it was 4:45 when we arrived with our two dogs who are difficult to transport, and were told that they had a rough day and could not take the dogs. They explained that I needed an appointment which was not true. The groomer then decided she could only do 1 dog. She finished and gave us the bill to ring up at the register. It did not include the $5 off and the cashier stated that only the groomer could give the discount. After waiting in line for 10 minutes, I went to the groomer that stated that she couldn't give me the discount because that is what the manager told her. I asked to speak to the manager. I then asked him to read the sign in the front of the store. (The same sign has been there for months.). We were regular customers. He agreed with me and took me on another register. The sign also states 25% off of valentines toys. I questioned him and he said that would be on my points. Too tired to disagree further, I paid for my items and started to walk out the door. The ignorant cashier who obviously couldn't read, shouted in front of other customers, "Have a nice day." Very poor customer service and they should all be reprimanded. No need to try to understand why this store will close up like half the stores on the Westbank. read more

I will never bring my Golden Doodle back here again. He went from a fluffy looking teddy bear to a bald rat! He had some matted hair and expected his body and legs were going to need to be shaved. However, the groomer proceeded to cut off his fluffy tail, full face and ears. These areas didn't need to be completely shaved just trimmed down. I'm disgusted with how my baby looks it will take months to get his coat back to what it was before. I went from having a beautiful Golden Doodle to an unrecognizable pet. If I could give no stars I would rather that then the 1 star I'm forced to give. read more

Highly dissatisfied with the grooming here. I request a bath with use of furminator with certain area trim. But maggie not only came home with a cut on her nose but also with some matted area behind her ears. I typically observe my pups before leaving the facility but in this case my boyfriend had picked her up and we didn't realized all these issue til he got home. When I called to get more information in regards to what happen, Emily (groomer) stated maybe our pup had hurt herself while in the kennel there. She told us to put neosporin for the cut on the nose. We definitely won't be returning. We spent $70 bucks only to have my dog come back looking worst than prior to going in. read more

This is literally the worst groom I think my schnauzer has ever had. He is groomed regularly every 4-6 weeks for years and is never matted. I just moved to the area and took a risk on coming to this chain and I specifically asked about their experience with schnauzers and I was assured they had groomers who knew what they were doing. Every grooming salon and groomer has a different interpretation of what the schnauzer haircut looks like, so I am extremely patient and make an effort not to be demanding or nit-picky. Imagine my surprise when I picked up my dog and not only had they butchered his haircut, he came back with eyebrows that were two different lengths as you can see in the pictures. The audacity of the groomer asking me if it was okay was so breathtaking I went back into the store to get the name of the groomer, which I have never had to do, just to make sure she never does my dog again in case she (Leslie) goes to another salon because this was the first and last time he will ever come here. I'm extremely disappointed and will not be bringing my dog back here, or recommending the grooming salon to anyone. read more

I know I have been reviewing a lot of pet places lately, but I guess I have been making the rounds for one reason for another. PetSmart is a cool store. They sell animal toys and food and accessories and things of that nature. They also have quite the selection of small animals such as guinea pigs, rats and birds and they also sell fish. My favorite part is (of course) the cats that they have up for adoption. I like that the cats they have are adults. It seems that you can find kittens anywhere. Also, the facility they have for all of the animals is very nice. They also do grooming, but I've never had anything that needed grooming, so I don't have any experience with that. read more

I like supporting the smaller independent stores when possible but this one is located near me, and when I am helping volunteer for PAWS, a local no kill shelter, the events happen here, and they make very generous donations to the shelter, so I have a warm spot in my heart for this company. They have a very large selection of toys and specialty foods for my dog Presley. Though not much that would fit her "stout" frame. But the store is wide and non cluttered and she still enjoys a cool drama free walk in the store from time to time. read more

This is a review for their training services. My doggie Daisy and I are almost done taking Tesha's beginner training class and I recommend her highly. She has years of experience, and really truly understands positive training and the dog psyche. She is always encouraging and there to answer any random questions I may have. Their classes are quite expensive, but usually there is a coupon or special going on. In addition to this, all of the employees that I have come into contact with have been wonderful and helpful. I find that Petsmart also has some of the best prices in the area. I just wish that this store wasn't on the Westbank! But I will suffer the toll to come here :) read more

I was a Petco regular, until they randomly stopped selling my cats' food of choice. Now, Petsmart is where I go for all pet-related merchandise... and this one is the one I frequent the most. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They host cats/kittens for adoption, which is fantastic. I wish they didn't sell chinchillas or other animals that we have local rescues for... because I prefer people adopt over purchasing... but I'll get off my soap box. Overall, the store has a good layout and they always keep the shelves stocked. It is clean, too... not all pet supply stores are. read more

I have a diabetic dog, I ran out of special dog food. So I had a written prescription for the dog food. The Veterinary on Petsmart wrote their Prescription for me to get my special dog food. I don't like Paws in Belle Chasse the Parish gives them money to put down the animals the Parish pick up. I want to give it a one star but I'm rating the grooming station and the cashier I came into contact with. When I dropped off my dog to get bathed, I had to scream back and forth with the worker because of all the dogs inside the shop. When I picked up my dog, they claimed he was having a moment and behaving crazy. They were very busy and said all their kennels were full so they kept him out there with him. He was, but I noticed several other big dogs tied down to the grooming stands with little to no wiggle room. A little dog was nervously shaking on the stand and one of the workers yelled to discipline it. The cashier at the front was unapologetic and was letting the line build up as she was doing something. She seemed aggravated by us so it looked like she was trying to waste our time. I will never bring my dog back here again, he's like my son and I'm still curious what they did to him while I was gone. He's never jumped on the door to see me before...he was terrified. read more

I think if the staff was trained more and certified in nutrition and pet care, then they would've been helpful to me. I went in looking for a prong collar for my very disobedient puppy and i obviously didn't even know what they were. If an employee had explained to me what they were and given me other helpful options, then I would've been satisfied. I wasn't given that, only weird looks filled with judgment. Therefore, I bought the prong collar to try it out. If I had been educated on that when I went in there looking for the collar, I would've saved money and would have gotten something more useful to my situation. All in all, yeah you can get your stuff here, but be sure to go in educated on your pets. You won't find much pet knowledge in this facility. read more

It's a shame I have to leave my little one locked up in a kennel because of corporate America! Forgot my puppy coupon book at home, and although they saw the coupon and there is now a profile for my puppy, I still have to go home to retrieve the coupon for the $20 savings. Wow! No more baths for my puppy here. I'll stick with my family owned business for half the price that includes bath extras and a grooming. Horrible service! Some of the workers over there were rude and kept making faces at me. We were returning a hamster and they looked at us with unhappy faces and seemed angry about it. After that, I was looking to buy a different hamster. I was asking one of the employees to let me see the winter white hamster in the cage. He looked at me, and said that after I returning the hamster, they weren't allowed to sell us another one. When I went home and checked the return policy of PetSmart, I did not see anything about that. I had to call customer service and they said they were also not aware of that policy. Not happy with the groomers. If I make an appointment at 11:30 I should never get my dog six hours later. "You can get express services Monday thru Friday for eleven dollars more"and "We got really busy"are not even close to being good enough excuses!! Was a fan of Pet Smart until tonight. Yes I know it's Christmas time. I'm recovering from major surgery on my ankle. I had a huge black boot on my foot. I came to pick up dog and cat food. I had no one to help me with this. My foot is starting to really hurt. And I'm standing in line behind three other people. There is only one line open. When I first arrived, I noticed about 10 people in line, still only one line open. But the worst part is that the cashier is chatting to the customer in front like a long lost friend, never mind the line is getting longer behind me. By the time it's my turn, I've had it. I'm hurting and I tell her I can't lift the bags out of the cart. It goes from bad to worse from there. But Basically don't spit out Merry Christmas when you don't mean it to someone who is really in pain. And then have the nerve to dismiss my injuries like it was nothing. (does your ankle look like a shark took a bite out of it????) Oh and by the way miserable people like me (since that is what you (cashier) called me) are usually miserable because of people like you. I went to this petsmart on manhattan blvd. in harvey by the movie theatre on tuesday and had my shihtzu groomed by the "shihtzu lady" she called herself. my appointment was for 12:30 and I was told it would be 3-4 hours I did not get my dog back until 6 that evening. well anyways my dog came out horrible her face was all chopped up and crooked and her body was done terribly. She had huge bows in her ears I guess to distract me from the terrible groom but it didn't work my poor girl looked horrible. I did complain to the manager who really didn't seem to care and I also did the survey on my receipt to let petsmart know about the horrible services I received. The groomer really didn't seem to like dogs she was very rude and seemed like quite a miserable person I feel like a horrible pet parent for leaving my dog in her care. I will never go back the "shihtzu lady" ruined my experience. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR FURBABIES TO PETSMART GROOMING!!! We brought our shih tzu to this salon today and we were hesitant to even persist with his check in after the rude service we received. One of the girls persisted to try to argue with me about the services we wanted to get on our dog, trying to say he was too matted and they would just have to shave him, and when I requested him to be hand scrubbed with pure shampoo I was told that no, the hydrosurge (which is the machine that mixes shampoo with water connected to a hose) is better and she's been grooming for 5 years so she would know. Little did they know I had also spent several years as a groomer and they were trying to give me the run around and basically just wanted to shave him, hose him, and send him out. after 4 hours of him being at the grooming salon and not receiving a call that he's ready, I called and they said there's one more dog in front of him and then he's next on the table. his appointment was for 9am and they did not call and let us know he was ready until about 3:45!! RIDICULOUS!! He spent about 7 hours there for a mediocre cut, (and they wound up shaving him anyways- of course) which is INSANE. Then on his payment sheet the duration time read 1 hour and 20 minutes. ummm... WHAT? no... I can only contribute that to being due to the fact they didn't want to get in trouble from management for having my dog for nearly 7 hours. They didn't even cut his nails! It's a good thing I didn't have any other places to be today, otherwise I would have been screwed! By the time we got home he drank a bowl full of water like he didn't receive water in his kennel and he passed out. After the service I received I can't even trust that they treated our dog well. After being a groomer myself and knowing the responsibilities that come with the job, i think this salon should be ashamed of themselves for the quality of service they present. I will NEVER use this salon again and I advise that you don't either. read more
