Look, I'm not in the business of being a jerk ok? If you've read my reviews, I only give bad ones for rude employees, terrible service etc. this is a different kind of bad review. More of a "educational moment" if you will. 2 years ago, I purchased a 35 gallon fish tank from this location. I originally wanted only 2 fish and was planning on spending 50 bucks, but I'm a sucker for a educated salesperson. The employee talked to me about why you need more than two, then about the water amounts needed... before I knew it I was in the hole for 400 bucks. Cut to a year later.. I'm in love with these fish. Just 3 guppies and 2 otos, but I have Everything to keep them happy and healthy..nice big tank all the amenities. All of the additives you name it. One day, one of the guppies died. We were heartbroken. They all have names mind you. SUSIE IS DEAD! We didn't replace her. Yet. A few months passed. I could see that the other guppies looked sad. REALLY. They used to dart around, now they Swam very slowly. (IM GETTING TO THE POINT. I swear.) The kids are really upset because they think the fish are dying, so I got in the car and headed to PetSmart. Surely the employee was still working there....nope. It was different employee. Nice enough person. Told them I needed a guppy and was quick to catch the one I picked out.....however (HERE IS THE TEACHING MOMENT) they scooped up a snail as well. They said "ooh a hitchhiker! " I said "oh no, thanks I'm ok on the snail." They gross me out. They INSISTED that it would be a GREAT addition help clean my tank. Ok. Sure. That snail, smaller than a dime... has destroyed my tank. It has laid egg upon egg and all of my fish have died, save one oto. Within the span of months my beautiful aquarium is garbage. I can't get rid of them. There are THOUSANDS of eggs. I S&@t you not. There are about 20 big snails and thousands of babies at this point. They have broken the filter and destroyed my investment. This is unacceptable. The only thing left to do is trash it. We are DEVASTATED. Some compensation would be great, but we'll see how that goes. read more

LAST MINUET CUSTOMER I got sooooo messed up with our 2020 time change and when arrived a few minuets after closing I was surprisingly not turned away!!!! Thankfully CODY & Becca & everyone else on staff was so nice to let me in to get crickets for my hungry crested gecko who I purchased with them. I don't get much time to make it out to hyannis ( 40 min to my closest one) so I can't say how grateful I am that I wasn't turned away. This is as much a raving review about the employee named Devon than it is about PetSmart. This girl should start her own shop cause I'd pay $100 for her to groom my dog. I brought my dog in to be groomed after about two and a half months of covid-19 lockdown. PetSmart is pretty much filled with appointments until July understandably, about 2 weeks out. Devon was so bright and effervescent on the phone. She was able to accommodate the grooming same day, I believe due to a cancellation or no-show. Either way, she was tremendously helpful and kind. Every other grooming service in the cape was either not answering or was not taking on new customers. Then on to the performance. She walked me through lengths of cut, facial shapes and additional services like nail trimming and ancillaries. I deferred to her insight as I would probably screw it up if I tried to give her instruction. I gave her a vague description of what I'd like, and she NAILED IT. She must have washed him in some sort elixir of rose petals. He's never smelled so good! She was so sweet with Louie and I could tell there is definitely a love for animals on a personal level for her. She was quite funny and sharp witted as well. Just was simply amazing person to deal with from start to finish. It is quite seldom I meet someone as kind as they are competent. She had knowledge, passion, skill and insight all in equal parts. Devon's boss; give her a raise. Devon; take that raise and open your own shop. You'd monopolize the Cape grooming market. read more

We have been using their grooming services for five year! Emmy and Laura do are amazing job with our 12 pound Zuchon. He's always well cared for and trimmed perfectly no matter how messy he is coming in. The only downside is it is really hard to get an appointment, especially in the summer months. You need to book months in advance. read more

So I feel bad giving two stars, but I'm PISSED. And I have been getting progressively pissed for months. I'll get out of the way: this is a regular petsmart; nothing stands out. Decent space and staff are pretty friendly. Selection is good. I mean, if you've been to any suburban petsmart, you'll know what you're walking into. So why two stars? Well, it has to do with their training classes. And even then, I'll start by saying Jodie, the trainer we had, was lovely and knowledgeable. It's very positive, reward-based training, which is what I love. So again, why two stars? Because we paid almost $100 for a canine good citizen course that ended up being a complete waste of time. 1) we took this class in, like, June. FIVE MONTHS AGO. And I signed up for the course SOLELY bcs I was told we would have a CGC tester come in at the end of the class so our dog could take the test. 2) The course was cute, but a waste of time. One of the dogs should never have even been in the class. He literally did not know how to sit. I think Jodie should be ashamed of taking the owner's money. We spent more time listening to Jodie talk then actually working on the test stuff. And when we were in training, we focused very little on stuff that would be on the test. It was level one obedience stuff. 3) After the course, I asked when we would be taking the test. And this is where I start getting pissed. Jodie delayed. and delayed. and delayed some more. First the tester didn't want to come over the bridge in the summer, then she was on vacation, then she wasn't coming to the Cape at all, then she wasn't doing any CGC testing but there was ANOTHER tester in Brewster that Jodie was going to hook us up with. That info never came. I called. I texted. I freaking went to PetSmart to ask Jodie in person. And I got dicked around every. single. time. I have delayed writing this review bcs Jodie is a nice person and seems to really love her work. But enough is enough. Ethically, I feel like I have to let people know, the classes at Hyannis Petsmart are bordering on a scam, and any sort of advance training is definitely a waste of your time. Five months later, and my dog has NOTHING to show for the $100 I spent. I'm going to have to get him enrolled in a CGC course down the line and do this all over again. And very obviously, I will never be using Petsmart to train my dog again. read more

Went to PetSmart this morning when the store was super quiet. Waited 10 minutes at the counter without any acknowledgment, sought out an employee and was told to ring the bell on the groomer's door. The "groomer" came out and told me I should not be behind the counter where the bell was! I asked to have my dog's nails clipped. I was then told that I needed my pet's rabies certificate. This was not posted on their website! It says walks in welcome...NOT! I would not go back if you paid me. Seriously lacking in customer service. read more

This review is specifically for TRACY,THE AREA TRAINER. If I could give this woman a negative 5, I would. I contacted Tracy 3 weeks ago about training my adult Lab. Over the time frame, I have left almost a dozen messages for her regarding setting up times for evaluation & training. I finally got a hold of her after calling & leaving messages 6-7 times. On the phone, I reiterated the issue & what I hoped to accomplish with her help. We then scheduled a time for me to visit the store so she could evaluate him. I brought my dog in & he was fine. She got interrupted in the middle of the evaluation by a telephone call which she took. So the total amount of time observing my dog was in the 10-15 mins. She vacillated quite a bit & then said she thought that it might only take 2 sessions to set up a program for me to follow to help rectify his behavioral issue. Not a difficult or challenging task. She then made a comment about his physical condition which I thought was odd. I walk my dog a brisk 45 mins a day. He is a smart, well behaved older lab who still acts like a puppy. I regularly go to the vets for checkups & he has received a good overall bill of health. He does have some arthritis in his front right leg but there were no other evidence or symptoms of any other problems. She insisted she talk to my Vet which again I thought was odd but I contacted my Vet yesterday & we discussed & he made it clear that my dog was in good physical condition & was fine for training. I contacted Tracy again & left 3-4 messages. Tracy has not contacted my Vet or returned my calls which she had AGAIN promised to do. It is readily apparent to me that she just doesn't want to train my dog because he is an adult not a puppy or an adolescent. She doesn't return calls or follow thru on matters. I am thoroughly disgusted at her total lack of professionalism in addition to her total disregard for providing customer's any type of assistance, help or guidance for training. I EMPHATICALLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS WOMAN AT ALL. If she was my employee, I would've fired her. She has no concept or understanding of her job responsibilities or basic customer service. read more

WILDLY UNIMPRESSED! The store in general seems to have gone down hill , Pet Care department was trashed. Tanks were filthy. I went in to specifically get Waxworms for my bearded dragon. Saw 2 associates working in Pet Care. One disappeared behind the fish tanks and never came back. The other was helping another customer , no big deal. I got her attention and waited patiently for her to finish up. She finished with the people she was helping. Proceeded to walk by me not once but twice. Stopped at the podium to scroll through her phone then disappeared Outback (I assumed to get the worms I had requested) then I lost track of her. 15 MINUTES LATER I found her meandering around dog treats , I asked again for the worms she gave me an attitude like I had asked her to do something outside her job description and walked off to get them , name tag read Kenzie. She hands me the container of what was supposed to be 50 worms. I wait in line , check out and get home ... there were maybe 15-20 worms in my container. The store is gross. It smelled like dog urine and they are employing sub par kids who would rather stare at their cell phones on the sales floor then do their jobs. Will not be returning. Waste of a drive and money. Total shame. I used to work there and used to take pride in how clean and well kept the department was. read more

Last night I ordered a 60g aquarium ensemble online and picked it up in the Hyannis, MA location. I was extremely impressed with the good nature, professionalism, and handiness of the staff there. I am speaking specifically about "Will, Lindsay, and Rebecca". Purchasing a large piece, such as this aquarium ensemble, was made significantly easier by the three of them helping me move into my car. During the process of loading it, they seemed interested in what I was putting in it and showed enthusiasm with my responses - these are true pet lovers. Will especially has a true passion for fish!! I have been bringing 2 dogs here for grooming for just over a year. Emmy and Nisha have been great with them and they are both rescues with some anxiety and odd behaviors at times. They have made accommodations for my dogs and never push them out of their comfort zone. I would highly recommend them. read more

I was helped by the most bitter and rude employee. this is a PET STORE and yet they didn't have any bearded dragons (what I went in to purchase), Chinese water dragons, or any type of snake in stock. I didn't look for much else but I saw many of the tanks were empty. there was nobody working the floor and I had to wait in the check out like to just get helped and have my questions answered. They proceeded to tell me that the one bearded dragon they do have is "on hold." how does one put an ANIMAL on hold? I'm curious. The man I spoke with was so rude and unfriendly I went on to talk to a different girl who seemed very unhappy with her jobs and actually gave us false information on what we needed to purchase and quickly walked away to answer a phone call. Very bad service and terrible inventory. If you can avoid shopping there I advise to do so!! read more

AMAZING....... after picking up my dog from a pricey dog groomer in Chatham they explained my husky needed to be restrained. She was half combed out, her nails were not clipped and they failed to complete their job. I paid full price and left discouraged. PetSmart opened their arms to my husky with a confident smile everything would be fine. The results were as noted, AMAZING, and my husky was happy. Huskies can be challenging both with their behavior and the work involved with brushing out their undercoat. The PetSmart grooming staff gave me that comfort so I could relax and my best friend will have all her needs met. This one groomer explained she grew up with huskies so not to worry. This thoughtful groomer gave that much more to my husky and I could not be anymore grateful. Thank you because you gave just that much which meant the world to me. Nice job. read more

I have to say I come here alot, but the customer service is excellent. I had one woman who I believe is the manager with glasses greeting me and helping me carry stuff to car . She was great. There was a blue buffalo rep named tom in my isle and he was great too . I actually will come more often for things rather than grocery store, just cause I was impressed. they don't treat my dog well while he is there getting a bath. they blow dry him even though i've told them he hates it. and then he freaks out because of the dryer and they tell me he's not a good dog and accuse me of not training him and tell me not to bring my dog there anymore for grooming. they went about it so rude and it was the worst experience i have had with a groomer. i will never go to petsmart again for my current dog or any pets in the future. read more

Buyer beware!!!! I went in asking for a new FREE puppy adoption kit it was not until I got home and looked at my receipt did I notice I was charged $19.99. I had used some of the coupons inside (to the sum of $20.19) the booklet which was advised by the cashier. When I called the store I was told that my money would be refunded when I brought back the booklet. The store manager there is a pompous arrogant jerk and tried to turn everything I said around so that it either favored the store or made me look stupid. When I told him that he needed to ensure that the cashiers were properly trained as they are the first employees that customers encounter he said " Well that is your perception" no actually that is a reality! They are not Wal-Mart with front door greaters they are Pet Smart! I will NEVER step foot inside this store again and will let everyone know how terrible the customer service is from the top down. read more

Bought a collar from @Petsmart same day I signed my puppy up for classes, bought the 20 dollar puppy book, and got my dogs tag made. Every time my father tries to bring back the collar the workers convince him i didn't purchase it there. At this point I don't even care about the money but it pisses me off I made my purchase there received all of his other pet smart related things so no I didn't buy the collar any where else that day! Is there any way to track this through my loyalty program because I'm more annoyed the employees can't just admit I bought this collar there even if they can't return it. Extremely annoying. Especially when I got his puppy book and tag that both same pet smart on it the same day. Very annoying also I've worked in retail, once something is out of stock it won't show on your system so they continue to tell me it's not in their system but as someone who's worked retail for 7 years I can tell you that means nothing.
