Never had a bad experience with a cashier or another person at this place unless it was a man. Yes sometimes I leave the house without my husband at one time we were volunteering for cat rescue. A millionaire that couldn't even take sick kittens to the vet. A millionaire who inherited every dime she ever had and told us the best adoptions are the ones that never come back! we offered to take FOSTER a nursing mother with something like six kittens. These six kittens were almost killing the mother because the mother had no strength left in her, and she probably had many litters before this one on top of the other. We had to buy nutritional food for the mother and bottle feed the kittens We would've kept them all, but that would've meant 11 cats and that's just too many cats for people like us because we take our animals to the vet on a regular basis. We always get them spayed and neutered. We treat our animals better than many children get treated around this world We were also taking care of an abandoned Easter rabbit at the time. We didn't know anything about rabbits and it was a steep learning curve. (you can buy them for $10 in a pet store and if you do, I'm sure if you believe in hell you'll go straight to it.) If you have a female rabbit, that female rabbit has a gigantic chance, and I can't remember the percentage of getting uterine cancer and dying before the age of five. Rabbits are extremely intelligent, but they are PREY animals. This explains much about them and they're extremely sensitive. They could be very smart. It depends on the rabbit if you decide to buy a rabbit from a pet store and I strongly urge you never to buy any animal from a pet store, and you only spend five dollars or $10 on it and then you're stunned when you learned that the proper care of them Cost a lot more than you didn't do your research and you didn't do your due diligence. PETSMART had some people that knew more than the horrible vet I had at the time 30 years ago. What a jerk he was. We did something so stupid. We never get over it. We didn't leave the air-conditioning on when we left the house and it was really hot. THE HOUSE, RABBIT SOCIETY, they filled with no at all, and looked down their noses at people who know less, was absolutely correct in that extreme heat could kill a rabbit. Somehow, we were delayed on this stupid shopping trip when we got home, our rabbit was passed out. We took it to this vet and the final blow was when he forced her to open her mouth after we told them exactly what happened. She died instantly and then he wanted five or $600 to have her cremated. in my mind. I strangled him to death. My husband can't remember his name either and we're trying not to remember his name but I'm trying to tell everyone that PETSMART new more about rabbits than this crummy vet in Croton On Hudson. We now have the best vet in the world Cynthia Eldredge and no sorry she's not taking new patients Every time we see her, she reaffirms that people tell her they wish she was a doctor and not just a veterinarian. She loves animals and she tolerates many people. She never cheat you. She never ripped you off and always tries to tell you the truth even though you don't wanna hear it we've given her five stars many times on this site. So thank you to PETSMART for being smarter than this crappy vet we had who might not have killed the poor little abandoned rabbit if he had cooled her down slowly. Her body was overheating end of story that's what was happening. I remember my dad was with me and even he who had a hard time believing anything I ever said in my life could not believe that jerk. We ended up pairing our little bunny by ourselves. We recently tried to sign up for auto pay and delivery with PETSMART. I got someone from another country who I could barely understand and I had to repeat myself over and over and over again it took 40 minutes was the order right? No it was not. Then I called Corporate and they Did something OK which I can't even remember. The problems are coming fast and thick. Instead of auto pay, and auto delivery, if you want the right items you have to do same day delivery apparently. At least they are no longer sponsoring the North Shore animal league. Those poor animals North Shore is a scam and I used to give them money every month for I'm sure dead dogs. They also don't spay and neuter their animals before they put them up for adoption, therefore all the local Rescues have to then deal with the consequences if you speak to anybody that's in cat or dog rescue in Westchester County they will tell you exactly what I'm telling you. Fortunately, they must've gone on charity navigator, and seeing what a rip off this place was and how they don't really care about the animals at all. read more

Brought my dog here today-after 4 hours the groomer calls me to tell me she won't be able to finish the grooming because her shift was over soon. I go pick up my pup and walk in to her in the corner facing the wall while the groomer was on the phone on a personal call only to hang up and tell me my dog pooped all over the table so she wasn't able to finish. She then proceeded to to hand me my dog covered in feces that she didn't bother wiping. WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE-not to mention my dog has nicks on her face and ears where the groomer was obviously careless. Will be calling the manager Monday morning. This awful experience was topped off with a $150 grooming bill. The customers that were there began profiling him and thinking that he was stealing from the store began to tell him they thought that they were going to have to "take him out" . I've been going here to have my girls groomed as well as Banfield since we moved up this way 3 years ago. I love them! Brooke my groomer is fantastic. She knows what I like for my babies and she clearly loves what she does. Banfield, the pet hospital is also great. They know my girls when we come in and are always pleasant. Again, you can tell they love what they do!! If I could give both the grooming salon and Banfield's more than 5 stars I would!!! My only wish is that they had the pet hotel at this location as well!!! read more

I brought my dog to get groomed ended up with ear infection. "First time"he's 1 year 11 months. I called the hospital and explained what I'm noticing and tells me it's an ear infection. I explain that I brought my dog at the groomer and he never had an ear infection before he was fine going in, after getting groomed that's when everything happened. One of the secretaries said that she will call the manager and see what he could do to help because he was fine when I brought him in. Later I spoke to a different Secretary saying that I have to pay out of pocket his check up he's cleaning and plus his medication if he needs it. Tells me that they're separate from Petsmart. And because he is a beagle they tend to have ear infection often and I told her he never had one before. I called the groomer department no answer. Manager of the store never called. Very disappointed I brought my dog in with no ear infection, he is a good healthy little guy. Not fair for him. I brought him to his vet, she said soap or water went in and they didn't dry or clean him good enough in those areas. He is on medication at the moment. read more

Just like other reviewers down below, I had a similar situation with trying to charge me $42.00 and the requested services were not even close to being rendered. Went today to bring my Yorkie to have a full haircut, nails, etc. Been scheduled for a week. It was almost 4 hours 8:00 am-11:45 am and I went back to pick up my dog-------NO HAIRCUT, NO NAIL TRIMMING! He was "washed" if you want to call it that (after 4 hours!). Face was not even washed, and still looked dirty. I had a suspicion something was odd, as I went back at about 10:30 and nothing had been done. There were barely any dogs in there today (I am assuming people are wising up and not bringing in their beloved pets to this place). My dog had been locked in a cage for almost 4 hours-No water, no attention! HE IS TRAUMATIZED! I am beyond upset! The "manager" of the grooming dept was BEYOND rude, classless...no apology...gave me nasty looks when I refused to pay the $42.00 that she was insisting I pay for the "services provided." Word TO THIS MISINFORMED YOUNG INEXPERIENCED LADY----this is not how this works! Customer requests a service, you provide the exact service, and then there is payment! She kept giving me these almost menacing looks. I told her I do not trust her around pets and that there was something not quite right with her...insane was the word I think I used. I love this Petsmart. This is where my first dog did training a number of years back. I usually get all my pet stuff here. There is a great selection of animals (fish and small animals, mostly). If you are feeling up to it, check out the cats they have- SO CUTE. I used to volunteer and take care of them and must say, they are my favorite part of the store. This Petsmart has almost everything you could ever want or think of. If you can't find it here... well then stop using such obscure things on your pets. I love coming here for grooming and purchasing items. The staff in the grooming salon and in the store are very friendly. My dog gets groomed by Aron. She is absolutely wonderful! We started seeing her a few years ago and stuck with her because she was the only groomer my dog didn't bite, which I thought was a good sign. She always greets us with a smile and does a great job. I get compliments all the time on my dog's cut. She's always happy when I see her and it's the kind of positive energy that puts me in a good mood for the rest of the day. It's so nice to leave my dog somewhere where I'm confident he is being treated nicely. One time, I had to buy something in the store while he was getting groomed and I saw Aron cutting his hair through the window. She was so patient with him and even gave him a little kiss. It was the cutest thing! The staff inside the store itself is very helpful. There is always someone around if you have any questions. Whenever I go to the store I usually have my dog with me and the staff comes over and says hello to him and offers him a treat. The Girls says oh we don't do cat grooming I ask well it says on the website she says yeah I will we can't change it. I asked why she said that some employees are allergic to cats and therefore they cannot groom cats. I've only had my rescued doggies for a couple of months so this is my first experience with this particular store. The sales people are great at answering questions and offering advice. The groomer Allie is so good with our dogs. I was apprehensive about leaving them for the first time but they were so comfortable around her that it put me at ease. Truly horrendous dog grooming experience (see photos)--we stopped in and asked to get a trim for our Wheaton terrier who had some mats in his thick coat. When my wife returned the woman had shaved our dog's front legs--not at all what we'd asked for--then simply quit and refused to continue because he had supposedly bitten her on the forehead. Given that he puts up with being ridden, wrestled with and tugged on by our children I found this hard to believe--anyway my wife asked to see the bite and the woman--unmarked--said, well, it didn't break the skin. My review of 2 stars is based upon store policy and not the groomers. I have a beagle who gets a bath and nail clipping every few weeks, not more than 60-90 minutes at the most. Today I dropped him off at 3:00 with the last available appointment for the day. I was told about an hour, but will call if it will take longer. after 90 minutes I walk in, the groomer is working on another dog and she says another 30 minutes as she was backed up. Came back 45 minutes later and she just finished him. I asked why was she running late and was told it due to walk in for nail clippings. Really? Buckle in kiddos. I go to this PetSmart at least once a week and more often than not have a bad experience. I only go there because they have what I need, in the numbers I need it in. However last night (August 14, 2017) was the last straw. I have no problem waiting, I know that ghost shrimp are a pain in the neck to fish out and if someone in line after me is getting something that's not a 10 minute ordeal of netting out these pains, I'll let them jump ahead of me. However when you have to wait 45 minutes for the stores only "fish specialist" to finish selling a bird, it's frustrating. I'm sure anyone else in the store could have went and helped with the bird sale. Especially when you have 3 people all waiting for someone to help them with in the fish section, you know where this person should be. The only saving grace last night was when Sam, a cashier who shared with us that she's not trained for fish and was a little nervous, came over and helped us all out. She did a great job with us and the other folks who needed feeder fish and had a fish related question. If it was not for Sam, none of us would have been helped until way after closing (Note: we got there around 8:10) Finally, at 9:10, the fish specialist comes back over to her section, as Sam is bagging up the shrimp and helps her write the SKU on the bag. On another fish related note. There is a major problem with the black molly tank. I have uploaded a picture and added it. Please note the white spots in the fish. This is an easily treated fungal infection called ich. They've had this problem with this tank going back, to my knowledge, to May of 2017, which is when I first started going here. The dead fish (not pictured) in the tank had been in their long enough that the snails were devouring them. I have mentioned it every time I have been there to whoever is working the section that they're sick fish. It's not hard to throw in the ich treatment, or even easier than finding how much to throw in, just raise the temperature to above 80 so the parasite can't even exist. Those in charge of fish need to realize just taking out the dead fish is not enough because the parasite can live in water. Putting more fish in the water once all the infected fish out, won't help. It is just creating more sick fish. I even fear that if I had asked to purchase one, they would have been sold to me. Sick fish should be in a quarantine tank, or if one is not available it should be posted that they are not for sale. There are plenty of first time fish buyers who would end up buying these guys because 1) they're cheap, 2) they come in many colors and it's a great way to add variety to a tank 3) the above and the fact that mollies are all compatible together, so why not get the black, silver and a creamsickle? Also they're is always a ton of dead fish in the tanks. The fish department is not always busy. How hard is it to take five-ten minutes to walk along the tanks and scoop out dead fish? Save the ammonia spikes and the (for now) live fish from eating a fish that died from disease and spreading throughout the tank. They need to hire an actual fish expert, or someone who knows what they're doing, instead of who they currently have their as their "fish specialist". read more

We adopted a little kitten at PetSmart. Not from PetSmart, but at their store. The kitten got sick within a few days, i.e. gook came out his eyes. We called PetSmart to make an appointment. To our surprise we were told that despite the kitten was sick, they could see us in October. Huh, it is now August 5, 2015 and we have to wait till October. We again asked, if an animal is sick, you will not see it till after approx. 2 months? Yes, any new patient will need to wait for at least 6 weeks. Sorry, PetSmart and your VETS, you are sick yourself. You are not there to help animals, but to make money. Needless to say, we called a different VET and guess what? We could be seen the next day, because the animal was sick. Never again read more

Good store to bring your dog to shop for supplies, BAD for grooming. My dog is a nervous dog and has separation anxiety and he HATED it there. The groomers complained about him being nervous to me and the next time I drove him there he literally started shaking in the backseat because he didn't want to have to go back in. Staff for the retail section of the store is great, but beware of the groomers. First visit they upgraded my dog to the top of the line cut w/o our permission. The cut was so-so. They did however comp us on the price of the cut because of the mixup. The second time they groomed her, it looked like they used a weed wacker. I could have did a better job with a scissor. They created a gigantic bald spot on the left side of her body and the cut was so uneven it lookedlike she was in a dog fight. Great place for dog food, not so much for grooming. read more

I used this store location for my dog grooming for more than 6 years and I was happy about it. Until recently, the store change grooming team and manager which was a real bad move as the new manager Amy is totally incompetent and her team sucks: 1. Rude to me and my dog. My dog is a small cute Maltese and he barks a lot in front of strangers, so Amy concluded he'd attack her and rudely asked me to take my dog away. What an in experienced and incompetent manager!!! Amy has no professional manner and skill and not sure why PetSmart made this stupid decision to hire her! 2. Amy's team did not know how to groom active dog. My dog has been in this store for the last 6 years, never had any single issue when previous manager and team were there; and the grooming job was perfectly done, so no idea why Amy could not do her job other than she is seriously incompetent!
