I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the recent grooming service for my cat at your store. I scheduled and paid for a full grooming package--including a haircut, nail trim, bath, and brushing--via your app for $90. Before the appointment, I called to clarify how short the haircut would be and was told they would only cut the hair to zero length for medical reasons. At no point did the groomer confirm that no haircut would be done. I trusted that the haircut was part of the service I booked. When I picked up my cat, I found him still wet on his belly and legs, shedding heavily, and he had not received the promised haircut or proper brushing. I was charged the full $90 essentially just for a bath and shedding treatment, which is excessive since I could have done a bath at home. The haircut was the primary reason I chose this service. When I called to address this, the manager, Mallory, initially said it was a misunderstanding. Later, she claimed the groomer had informed us no haircut would be done, which was never communicated to us. Each time I tried to get clarity, the explanation changed. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, the manager told me she was not the groomer and at one point suggested she would hang up if I continued to express my frustration. She never apologized or offered a solution such as rescheduling the haircut or discussing a refund. Instead, I felt she tried to make me feel at fault for a service that was not delivered as promised. I am extremely disappointed in both the grooming service and the way management handled this situation. Our groomer was out for an injury so I brought my dogs here. BIG mistake!! Both of my dogs had bald spots. They were shaved down all the way and when I didn't even pick the shortest grade. I prefer to support local pet stores, but sometimes you've got to brave the chains, and I was pleasantly surprised by this Petsmart! It is newer, very clean, and I like the lay out. They offer grooming and dog daycare ($22 for a full day, which is 6+ hours, $16 for anything under 6 hours). I was particularly impressed with that section of the store. The signage and counter area was all very modern and pleasing to the eye. We were looking for goldfish in particular, and while they did not have any that struck our fancy, there were a couple options, along with your standard freshwater fish. I don't think they offer any saltwater. They have adoptable cats, and they looked as happy and comfortable as they can be in those circumstances. I just wanted to take every one home! Employees were decently nice. An improvement over many other standard pet stores...nothing exemplary, but I no longer expect nor demand that from the majority of chains. All in all, if I need a Petsmart in particular (and I have a dog, cat, and roughly 50 fish, so consider myself a bit of a pet store aficionado), this is the best I've found in the area. read more

I was inquiring about a toy that advertised to have a calming agent, and the cashier looked it up and we found out it does not. My family recently relocated to SLC and I was very nervous about finding a groomer for my 8 year old Shih Tzu, who has been groomed by the same person his whole life. I've tried a couple groomers in town, but I didn't feel like they did as good of a job as Kay did at Petsmart. My dog looks great, better than great, it really seemed like she took her time and care with him being an older dog. This was the second time I have taken him to her and I am confident that she will continue to take good care of my dog. Th price was reasonable, in comparison to other groomers. As much as I prefer to support small businesses, I just didn't get the good feeling I did with Kay as my dog groomer. Only negative I would say, is it takes a good few hours, which I am not used to, but my dog is older and was given breaks to keep him comfortable. I see a lot of terrible reviews for this specific Petsmart grooming salon and I do not really understand why. This particular locations grooming staff are awful. Four separate times , I've scheduled appointments here and there, for four different dogs on different dates and times throughout the last year, and every single time I get to the appointment they say they can not do the grooming appointment for them. First time I was 15 mins late to our appointment and they said nope can't do it. Second time scheduled a bath and brush for a golden doodle just a BATH , and they said my dog was too matted, couldn't do it. I said shave him then, that's fine and NOPE still couldn't take him because wasn't scheduled as a shave appointment. They do absolutely nothing to try to get your animal in for their appointment. You wait for the appointment only to finally get there and get turned away. Not sure how they make any money. Terrible! read more

Wish I would have read the reviews first. Booked an appointment for 5pm and got a call at 2:30 asking me to bring my dog in early. I was at work, so I wasn't able to, and was asked if "I was sure I could make it by 5", to which I said yes. The whole thing seemed like a bother to the woman on the phone. I was 30 minutes early and dropped my dog off at 4:30. The groomer who was so eager to get to my dog, immediately took her lunch break as she heard we were there (just odd since she was so pushy and urgent two hours before). She also refused to do the introduction/behavior check (I would think the person interacting with the dog should be the one to make the dog feel comfortable around them??). I was told it would take three to four hours. Around 8pm, three and a half hours later, I was informed that my dog had "bit the groomer in the face and held on". This was from a different groomer, never did speak to the actual groomer of my dog (before or after). When I was asking the other employee what happened, the groomer walked out with her stuff and left, with a spot bandaid on her chin. My dog has never bitten anyone before, not denying that it occurred, as I wasn't there, but worth noting. I also have no actual information since no one actually knows what happened, and the groomer seemed to leave as soon as she could. I will also add the haircut wasn't even halfway done so I am not sure what was happening for 3+ hours. I was told I would get a 25% discount since the service wasn't completed, as you could guess, I didn't. Other reviews claim these groomers are quick to cancel service to go home, I would agree with that statement. I will not be coming here anymore. read more

We are so happy that Petsmart opened this store & has such a wonderful grooming salon. We've tried several places to get our Yorkie cut and no one can get it right until we found this place. The not so good: it's in a shopping mall, so be alert to the drivers and walkers who have managed to place a welding helmet over their head and then added a black trash bag to guarantee that they can't see you-no matter what! Remind yourself of the "Smokey the Bear" motto, all of us need FULL focus in these situations: triple down if they are talking on their cellphone or walking in a cluster of friends. Geeze. This is a new location for them so their has been a learning curve for all the staff. Their training program lacks depth and breadth. All the staff have begun to learn the how to's on their own. Like the top twenty customer questions. They have courteous and friendly staff: they All have managed to remember my first name. They know their range of all supplies, from specific brands of cat food to tree frogs (which are currently out of stock). They carry everything that I will spend money on for my cat. And going here has never bummed me out. They even called me when I accidentally left my bill fold in the shopping cart. I was in panic mode. Wow, the simple act of doing the right thing goes a long way for me. The better to nearly best stuff. It's located 1.5 miles from my home. Yippee. It never seems terribly crowded. They speak to me in a cordial manner. They all put a lid on the drip of the overdone clerky syrup style. This all to common approach comes from corporate or the store manager-usually not the clerks. My pet needs are simple: multiple lines of dry and wet food. Fairly good selection of toys, scratch posts, beds, otc medications and nearly everything you might need. The accept exchanges. Their manner has never ticked me off. Macey's is 100 feet away if you need bread, peanut butter, etc. Oh I just hate shopping at any Macey's grocery store. They failed in their displays and organization of all things food: 2/5 stars for them on a fantastic day for them. Final thought: they beat the pants off the other major chain although that chain has a much, much better selection of live fish, turtles etc. But all of their stores are very weird. They feel odd to me and I have totally stopped doing any business with them. I do stroll through about twice a year. Much better than a so-so Pet Store. read more

Took my dog here for a shampoo and cut on 10/22 at 10:30am. The lady at the register was not friendly. She was also the groomer scheduled for my dog. Did not seem too happy to be there. My dog returned with cuts from the service (2 pictured here but there are 4). Not sure if she had problems with him or what, but she sure didn't mention it to us when we picked him up. We were told he was good. He's been shaved before, and I haven't ever seen this happen when we shaved him at his normal place. read more

Bought 2 goldfish here about a week and a half ago and followed all procedures to introduce them to a tank with a 3 month and 2 year old goldfish but I believe the two from this store were infected with Ich/white spot disease and died only about a week after purchasing them, in addition they have severely infected my other two previously very healthy goldfish. I do not recommend going to this petsmart. I took my puppy here for a grooming appointment and they plucked his ears without me knowing which resulted in him having very irritated ear that were bleeding and resulted in a bad ear infection that was very painful for him. I had to take him to the emergency room which I had to pay a $400 bill for. Petsmart gave me a $153 check... not even half of the cost and didn't offer to refund the grooming appointment or do anything to make to situation better. I will never go back this location and I recommend you not either unless you want the same situation to happen to you. I will be contacting corporate. read more

I prefer to support local businesses then the corporate chain gang: however there are times I do have to wander into the corporate chains as my pup needs toys/activities to keep her teething stage at bay. This particular Petsmart location is bigger then most that I have been into; however the store is nicely organized but missing a lot products as numerous hooks were empty. Out of a handful employees there was one helpful employee that assisted me for a specific brand of dog treats and I thank here for her assistance I wish I had her name I would shout her out and advise this store manager how awesome she was and that her colleagues need to follow her example of customer service skills. As i was unloading my cart I let the cashier know I had some prices matches from Chewy. She advised me they no longer accept price matched accept price matches from Chewy as of last week. I did inform her it would be nice to have notices placed at the entry or the store or at the counter as I know I'm not the only one who price matches, she did inform me this action took place last week as Chewy is no longer owned by Petsmart. So with that being said I don't have a problem placing my order with Chewy. I'm rating the store 3 stars due to the lack of empty hooks/shelves for dog chews & treat selection, the lack assistance except for one who went out of her way, there were a couple girls that having a vent session in an aisle and could be less then bothered to acknowledge a customer or help them and final reason for the lower then normal rating then I like to give is the lack of notice for the change in price matching. I understand change happens but customers should be notified in a timely manner either by email or with store signage. read more

Worst day ever! Took my dog in for a basic bath and nail clip. The lady at the counter told me she is also the dog trainer. They took my dog gave her her bath and then said that they were unable to clip her nails due to her being stressed out. My dog has never been stressed out and my dog has never had a problem getting her nails clipped with anyone ever before. On top of that they charge me $40 for a basic bath. That's outrageous and ridiculous and when I brought it to their attention the lady with the pink hair I'm assuming the manager said oh it's actually going to be $2 more. Don't go there ever they will rip you off. Funny how when I go to the Taylorsville PetSmart I don't get charge the same price. read more
