I used the PetSmart hotel and everything went well, from the moment I checked him in to the moment I checked him out. I would call everyday and they always gave me good news. They are so sweet, professional and respectful at what they do. I received all charges upfront and also an extra for grooming, which I loved cause that way I knew how much to pay. I picked him up early and he was clean and smelled so good even looked a little chunkier. I will definitely be using them again. I booked for this week, and when I arrived, they said it would take about an hour. 10 minutes in, I'm shopping at the store, and they said, "He is a little spicy; we will only do his nails." I go back in to get him, and they said again, "He is spicy, hissing, and biting." I told them he has never done that before. This made me question, how they approached him. He meets people and other animals all the time. I have never had an issue. To confirm my theory. Later that evening, I go to Sassy Paws in Tinley Park. They said your kitten did an amazing job. He was quiet, sweet, and easy to groom. As a result,I will not be a customer with them again. Since the cancellation and them having an issue with my cat, explains that the people that work there are not qualified at all. If you have a dog, it may be fine. However, I don't recommend them. I went to PetSmart with my dog Farfalle to pick out a new collar. I brought him with me so he could look at the collars. I didn't want to have to take it back if he didn't like it or it didn't fit correctly. I used to like the idea of being able to bring my pet into the store, until yesterday. As I was walking down the aisle, I stepped into a large pile of droppings, left perhaps by a rhinoceros or a hippopotamus. It was a VERY large pile. It smeared all over my Oxfords. I could not find anything to clean the excrement off of my shoe. I removed the shoe and tossed it in the trash receptacle. My sock got wet because it was raining. This was unexpected and I had left my umbrella in my vehicle. read more

If I could give half a star I would. We brought our dog in for grooming services recently and from the beginning the experience was horrible. Not only was our pet accused of being aggressive and was threatened that he would be turned away normally and that we should book when other pets are not around was offensive. Keep in mind our dog has been visiting and was trained at this location! Not only was the grooming job half done (his tail was not groomed at all) there was nothing done to rectify this issue. We will not be returning to this location and will be searching elsewhere for a better groomer. read more

This was my first time leaving my 4 month old ShihTzu at the PetsHotel while I travel for work. I am very particular on who keeps her to ensure they have her best interest at heart. But I am sad to say I failed at doing my research prior to leaving my baby here. My mother picked her up from a two nights stay at the PetsHotel and she reeks of urine and her hind legs are stained from urine and god knows what else. She was supposed to play in doggy daycare each day but the amount of urine permitting the air tells me differently. The staff was very pleasant and eager to take in my baby but their service during her stay does not equal out. Her tail is urine stained and she's matted. I had a wedding that I had to take a part of and my dog was staying in this pets hotel. My dog has been staying at this hotel from time to time over the last 5 years or so. My dog started to poop a little blood while at this petshotel, while I am at this wedding which is hours away. Unfortunately, anyone that could have gotten medication for my dog was out of town also. To make a long story short, the petshotel policy is that if a dog is experiencing multiple issues (like bloody diarrhea stool) that the dog needs to get treated. The Banefield vet was booked solid, and all the vets in the area were booked solid, so my dog almost had to go to an emergency vet. Thankfully, Hannah, Summer and Amanda were able to pull something off that I GREATLY appreciate. Amanda, in particular, was able to get my dog some medication even though she had to go out of her way to do so. This saved me potentially a lot of $$$ but more importantly allowed me to focus on the wedding that was very important to me. Thank you to the staff of this hotel for taking care of my dog, saving the day and sticking to the policies that keep the dogs safe! read more

We dropped our dog off at the Orland, IL PetSmart PetsHotel on April 27, 2021 with a pickup date of May 3, 2021. While we were away, we called to check on him frequently and were told he was okay each time. We had a family emergency and had to return early from vacation. We called and inquired about picking up our dog after hours and were told it wasn't possible, which was okay. The day we picked him up, Hannah told us he had a good stay overall. However, when we got Bronx home, he could barely bark. His "voice" was so hoarse that it was alarming. He has never sounded like that. We called the PetsHotel and were told a completely different story that he barked from sun up to sundown. Hannah was so rude and ignorant. An associate lied on a "pupdate" stating we were told on 5/2/2021 he was barking. We were NEVER informed of this and that meant he was neglected for several days by the staff in regards to him being uncomfortably anxious. Had they informed us, we would have taken steps to get meds walked over to the PetsHotel from Banfield which is where all of our dogs have wellness plans. The vet we took him to confirmed our suspicions that he was probably strangled manually in an attempt to quiet him down since it has taken so long for his bark to return. We were contacted by a Sedgewick representative with the demeaning and disrespectful offer of a $50 gift card for our "trouble". Our dog has been harmed while in the care of PetSmart PetsHotel and we are not going to allow PetSmart to ignore the facts. Our dog was still struggling to bark, two weeks after we picked him up from the PetsHotel. He's not getting any better. Accountability is so rare with PetSmart, especially with yet another BLACK pet parent suffering the loss of their dog at the hands of several PetSmart grooming employees. This is a pattern and we will not remain silent about the DAYS of abuse our dog suffered at the hands of Orland employees. read more

My dog got kennel cough from the daycare here twice! And took him in for a groom to get trimmed around the eyes and between the legs and they cutoff all his hair "because it was too matted" which was not the case at all, and my dog now looks absolutely hideous and the fur is so short he sunburns if left outside. Furthermore this location often closes daycare because of being short staffed, which is fine, however you can tell that they're not allowing enough time in between while they are short staffed to clean the doggy daycare area because it is filthy. The main store is fine because that is taken care of by an independent contractor. Also they cut off my dog's whiskers which you are not supposed to do. read more

I used to bring my pet here quite often, but I noticed that they do not take them out for potty breaks and one day I kept my dog there for boarding for two days. When I came to pick him up, he barely recognized me because he had been under so much stress. It took him about three days to get back to his old self, but I will never put him through that torture ever again. When they brought me his bed and blanket, it was tied in a knot in a clear bag but when I came home and opened it, everything was soaked in urine. That is totally unacceptable! read more

There aren't many places where you can say their pup is excited get groomed or a nail grind! The Petshotel staff goes above and beyond when it comes to caring for their Daycampers. I went in to get a big white cat tree for a little less than $100, it was on sale online. This was after the nonsense the Burbank petsmart put me through, so I have a credit card and the receipt for the same product, hoping it won't be faulty this time. I went up to an employee named Julian, showed him the price for the product online and told him the whole story from what happened last time. Long story short, the product was dysfunctional, it was the last one they had in stock with no extra supplies and they refused to call nearby locations to see if they have them elsewhere, so I had to do the legwork. Despite the blatant price difference on the card/receipt, he gave me the tree without having to pay a cent more, not even sales tax! I was expecting something about store policy or following protocol or some such nonsense, but Julian did me a major solid and genuinely made my day! I didn't get screwed out of my money and the tree works just fine, so I'm a happy guy! read more

I am a loyal Petsmart customer who has used all of their services in 6 different states, including 2 separate locations in the Chicagoland area. I have seen much better regard, respect, and love shown to me and my pet at most other locations but this location's lack of detail and attention to my pet upon pickup was very disheartening. My pets kennel blanket was soaked with urine and ice cream and her report card was barely completed. When I asked what happened with both of these items, the PetsHotel worker replied with "I'm not sure." Will not be using them again for this service. Our 1.5 year old golden~doodle just spent the night at the petsmart hotel in Orland Hills. It was her 1st time away from home, for an entire day & night. We arrived at 12:15 in the afternoon. The doggie daycare was open for our doodle to go & mingle with the other dogs. The staff whom greeted us, were very friendly & informative. They gave Shiloh some "special attention." She was a little nervous. Seemed cleaned & has a nice environment for pets. Was able to call anytime and check on our baby. (Of course, being away for the 1st time, I called a few times) They were wonderful to my baby. Picked her up the following morning & got a written, detailed pawgress report on her stay. Definitely would recommend this location to others who treat their animals as their babies. Nice to know, you can call anytime. read more

This review is in regards to the pets hotel. I have been a customer of this pets hotel for over 2 years. I thought I had a positive review placed before. I don't see it but that's ok because the place has definitely changed. To start I feel they are leaving your dog poop and pee in the enclosure and they trample over it their whole stay. I paid extra for a salon bath and nail trim. Usually when you do so you are required to pick the dog up at the salon. On this occasion I was told they put him back in the pets hotel. I picked him up and he smelled horrible. Wasn't sure till I got home because I figured it was his bedding. Also not realizing till a few days later his nails were quite long after having a nail trim. Also they usually have a rough edge after the trim. I figured they just tried to tell me he had a bath and trim hoping I wouldn't notice. Seriously!!! I also bring my dogs food so he doesn't end up with diarrhea. Didn't realize when they handed it back to be that it was the same amount I gave. Somehow on his report card it says ate everything. So either he didn't eat at all or they gave him THEIR food. That night I did call and talk to the salon manager...or so she said she was. She offered mr to bring him back that night (830 pm after traveling all day) Or the next day. I couldn't bare the smell of my dog to wait that long. I ended up bathing him myself because he also sleeping in our bed. My dog will no longer stay there. I may even contact the health department. Not sure what happened. Staff change, manager change. PetSmart has changed the way they book rooms for their pet hotels. Now they use a call center. Anyway my sister and I had a planned trip out of town and 3hrs before we are to leave we drop our boxer mix off to the Orland Hills, IL location, only to be told that the room reserved for our dog is for a dog who is 35lbs or smaller, we have a BOXER MIX she is over 65lbs. Why didnt the staff know what size room our dog needed? this was NOT her first time there!!! Now What??? you want to know what happened , well lets see we were told that Joliet or Darien, IL had rooms available (which both locations were out of our way) when we called back we were told that neither location had any rooms available(someone lied to us). My sister missed the trip and lost money because she COULD NOT get a refund. this is unacceptable by any means. You know what the crazy thing is we had a very bad experience with the grooming services but giving them benefit of the doubt we used this location AGAIN. I experienced the worst customer service this morning at 7:00 a.m. in the grooming department. First of all, I arrived at 6:48 and an employee that was standing outside informed me that I would not be allowed in the store until 7:00. Fair enough, however my appointment time in the grooming salon was 7:00 a.m. So, I went back to my car for 10 minutes. Approached the store at 6:58 and an employee standing outside smoking opened the door to let me in. I looked at my watch and it was 6:59 a.m. I walked into the grooming salon where the same employee (I believe it was Lacey - long brown hair) informed me that I would have to wait a few minutes because she was not allowed to punch in until 7:00 a.m. Ok, but now I am starting to get irritated with the customer service I am receiving. She then informs me that she doesn't make the rules and gets an attitude while walking out. I am standing there waiting for her to come back and in walks "Jordan" the inventory manager. He tells me to step out of the salon because the girl that walked out needed to take her dog to day care!!!!! My appointment time was 7:00 a.m. Why do I have to wait for the employee to take care of her business on company time, and why didn't she ask me to step out? Not only that the way he talked to me was like I was his worst enemy. He was definitely treating me like I was inconveniencing him. At that point I told him I would be leaving and not coming back and I told him I have never been treated so rudely. Terrible customer service. Nice neighborhood pet store they offer, alot of variety. Ranging from dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, rodents and fish. I only come here for the fish supplies and I can only comment on this area. I have been raising fish since i was a kid typically cichlids like Oscars and this place is definitely the best place to get them in the area. Very friendly staff aswell and they also sell tanks and accessories for you aquarium. Fish are healthy most of all and well taken care of. Highly recommended!! read more

Our dog doesn't care for new faces right away and can't stand getting a bath and it's just been to hard for me to wash him. So I decided to take him to get groomed because he also has knots of fur I couldn't brush out. So I made an appointment with Joyce. I'm not sure if it was her voice and warm welcoming but our dog was happy to let Joyce rub all on him and he just wagged his tail. I used to work in the Hotel in Orland Hills. That is my one star rating. I won't criticize the salon or store because I didn't deal with much on their end. I'm making this as short as possible. The hotel manager is a snake! If she like you , you are all good. If she doesn't like you, she find ways to write you up, manipulate you, and eventually make you want to leave. She looks for a weakness in you making it seem like she cares but just uses it against you in the long run. She doesn't train you at all either. The management at the hotel all talk about each other. Every single one. Again only speaking about the hotel. The kitchen has flies everywhere! Even when the dogs get pumpkin for their upset stomachs , I have seen the flies in the pumpkin, in your dogs bowl in their kennel! It's disgusting!!!! The dogs get extremely stressed over there too. The manager yells as soon as she goes in camp. Also, we are trained to spray your dog in the face to correct them. The sit in their bowel movements! Seen it many times! The cats are rarely looked at . It's a toxic place to work. Some people their are amazing and care deeply for the dogs and work very hard! But the hotel manager never acknowledges the hard work. She just talks about every one thinking she is perfect. I've seen hotel customers unhappy with her too. A lot of hotel workers want to leave and some have. I was excited to work there and loved all the dogs! The hotel manager ruined my time there and made my job miserable. Which is to bad. I hope that kitchen gets cleaned, the hotel workers get treated equally and respected for their hard work. It won't be coming from their toxic hotel management. Horrible experience with grooming. I had my appointment at the Orland Hills location and the woman, Lacey, that "helped" barely made an attempt at assessing my pet. She claims he tried to bite her. I gave him a pill for anxiety this morning, as advised by my vet, and he was calm and did not attempt to bite her. I wouldn't have put my pet at risk if I knew he wouldn't be able to handle a grooming. It's a shame because I thought they had professional and experienced people that worked at a pet store!! It's extremely inconvenient that I even bothered to give my pet this pill, left work early to make it to the appointment and she didn't even make an attempt. I think the fact that I told her that he took anxiety medication is what "frightened" Lacey. I've taken my pet there for grooming, training classes and do all of my pet shopping there. I've never had a bad experience, but this is definitely more than enough to put an end to me being a customer there. It's ridiculous that there is someone working daily with pets with such poor lack of judgement, inexperience and zero empathy. She was very rude when telling my she couldn't take him. The manager was much nicer, but a shame that took her word over mine. I asked him to watch the video and he refused even after I asked if he had another groomer. My dog, Melody, stayed there for three days while we visited my boyfriend's sick father. She's had stayed there before for two days with no problems, however this time I feel like I got back a completely different dog. As soon as we saw her come through the door she was more so trying to get out of there then excited to see us. She then peed all over the floor as if she hasn't been let out for a while. She has been inside of many stores before and has never peed anywhere but outside and in the grass. The women who went to get her in the first place looked pissed off because Mel was pulling because she wanted to just get out so the girl would yank her really hard and angryly. When we got home and I pulled her blankets and dog bed out that I cleaned the morning right before I dropped her off, everything was covered in pee. Since getting home yesterday she is completely uninterested in any food (including meat ) And won't do anything but sleep. I called the manager Gina who said "according to the papers she went out every hour and that she could offer me a free night stay. I spend 111 dollars and my dog was horrified and there conclusion is for her to stay there again. Please for the love is God, do not send your babies there. read more

Wonderful experience at the Pet hotel. I had to go out of town at the last minute and was panicking because I didn't have a dog sitter. I randomly called this location and spoke with Jude, his customer service was great and immediately calmed my anxiety. After talking with him, I felt comfortable enough to leave my Pomeranian with this establishment. I was invited to call and check in on her whenever I wanted to. I returned from my trip a few days later to pick up my dog and can tell that she was treated just as well as I would have treated her. She was happy and active. Terrible treatment by the "Karen" in charge. I had a reservation for my dogs due to a business trip I had. They have stayed at this PetsHotel location several times with no issues before. One stay was over a week. I drop off my dogs and was completing the paperwork when the "Karen" in charge comes out from in back screeching at me that one of my dogs is dangerous and attempted to bite her. She claimed the dog refused to let her remove its collars and nipped at her. This confused me as she was actually holding his collar and harness in her hand as she was going ballistic at me. She then continued yelling at me saying they are now refusing me service and to take my Husky home but leave my other dog. Sorry, but you just killed my trip as I'm not going to leave a dog unattended at home for several days. I asked if PetsHotel was going to reimburse me for my lost travel expenses and she stormed away. The gentleman who brought my dogs out to me after "Karen" threw her tantrum was extremely nice about the situation and said he would try to calm "Karen" down so my dogs could stay but said she was the boss so what she says goes no matter what. I appreciated his attempt to help me but the manager of PetsMotel is a completely unprofessional drama queen who went ballistic over a minor incident involving a senior dog that she apparently upset when and however she took his collar off. I will never book at PetsHotel again, and will advise anyone that considers that location to go elsewhere as the actions of this manager were rude, indifferent, argumentative and basically completely unprofessional for someone in that position that is supposed to be trained in how to deal with animals. My cats were boarded for 4 days. When I picked them up they seemed traumatized. These are young mild manner cats. They wouldn't even come out of their cage to come home. Yes a cage, not a kitty cottage as they make them seem. The workers don't seem to know much about cats and how to handle them. When I got home they gave me some other pets left over food and lost my cats pill gun. They did replace but i will not be returning for future boarding. read more

Paige is not happy with her employment at Petsmart. It shows through her demeanor towards the customers that she interacts with. Paige is rude and not welled trained in customer service. My pets stayed in the hotel for a few days. Fast forward past me checking out and Paige goes to get my pets. Paige brings them out put them on the floor(inside pet carriers) and just walks away without a word. Dropped our dog off for a Christmas bath and nail trim. They are usually very good but I think this year they were too over booked and busy. Our dogs nail was cut way too short and she was bleeding at the store and continued to bleed at home for about 30 minutes. If they were too busy they shouldn't agree to take more business.
