They provide 4 types of shampoos, all the CLEAN TOWELS you need and dryers!! 2) The smell in the self grooming area is HORRIFIC there is no way a human can stand that smell let alone a dog. Booked a grooming service. Was 5 minutes late. Totally my bad. Stood at the counter for almost 10 minutes before I asked someone if there was an employee who could help. I was then enlightened that there is a buzzer on the counter which there was no sign for so I was completely unaware. Trisha the employee who was supposed to be grooming my dog had ANOTHER associate tell me that she could no longer take us because we were late. When we stood there waiting for help and was only 5 minutes late to begin with. With this being the holiday season and everywhere being booked, I find it extremely inconvenient and unprofessional. We will never come back to this store. We spend over $150.00/week at this store and their manager yelled at us because we came in at 8:40 and was in line by 8:55. They were 6 people in line. Two people were behind us. The manager got mad because my sister ask for a stuffed animal be placed in a separate bag. He said "we come in late everytime and he is tired of it." I've used this location several times to do a self wash on my dog and each time it gets even worse I'd that's possible?? Always filthy dirty, stinky and hairy. Nothing is clean, dog hair everywhere, including in all three tubs and the wall, floors, etc. I turn in the first dirty tub and there is no shampoo coming out of the hose delivery system. Just water. Have to get my dog out of that one and put him in another tub, even dirtier. I was this close to getting my money back but he needed one so badly and I just wanted to get it done. Each time I've been here, there are never ANY clean towels when I get there (after paying the ridiculously expensive amount of $20!). After going up front, that guy says ask someone on the floor. After asking someone on the floor, she says go to the grooming person. What the hell? No one wants to help you or do their freaking job! Just keep a plethora of clean towels in there at all times while you're open!! How hard is it?! This will be the last time I go here after last night's horrible experience. Just disgusting. I brought my 3 dogs in for self wash. The store was very empty. There was no one else in the self dog wash area. The Groomer -Jerry - said I can't bring more than 1 dog at a time. This is BS as I have brought my dogs together for years. They were not bothering anyone and minding their own business. I do not live close to this PetSmart so to bring 1 dog at a time is ridiculous. I have been a loyal PetSmart customer for years. The way Jerry treated me and my dogs is not acceptable. I told him that I will continue to bring my dogs together because 1. He does not own this franchise 2. No where does it say only 1 dog at a time 3. My dogs were NOT bothering anyone. Not to mention I paid for conditioner with the baths but the store didn't provide any. Not only was there no conditioner but the tubs and area were FILTHY! Hair everywhere. I spent the first 30 minutes cleaning the tubs so I can bathe my dogs. I am an animal rescuer so I rescue more than 1 dog. I am extremely upset with Jerry at this PetSmart. Petsmart is supposed to be a welcoming pet store for pets and their parents. At $20 each for self wash - this PetSmart should be grateful customers pay that outrageous fee to wash their own dogs vs treating customers rudely! read more

I went to this store to give my dog a bath. The grooming area was filthy, it smells of old, stale urine, there piles of dog hair on the floor and the floor is filthy. The walls are spattered with black spots. I put My dog in the middle tub, there is no shampoo in the unit. I called over an employee, Maria, and she said that she doesn't know anything about that area and she can't help, She said "Why don't you try one of the other tubs?". I asked her to find someone that could help. She was so rude I couldn't believe she just walked away from. Maria came back a few minutes later and said "Well? Which shampoo do you want?" I said apple. She opened the door to the unit, took the empty bag out and threw it on the floor. Came back a few minutes later with a full one. She was accompanied by a woman who did not greet me or acknowledge my presence. At no point did either of them apologize for the trouble. When I went to dry my dog I found towels that were little more than rags and didn't smell very nice. I went to the cashier and asked Kathy for the manager. She turns to someone in the office and said: "Are you the manager? You wanna deal with this?" And she pointed at me. Not this customer, not this lady, not this person. This. While she's pointing at me. I turned to her and said, "I am not "this", I am not a thing. I am a person". Maria walks over and says: "I'm sorry we're out shampoo that's not my area, the manager for that area isn't here". I told her it's not only the lack of shampoo, it's how dirty the wash area is, it's the broken door, it's the lack of decent towels and it's the fact that she as so rude. She said "Well, I'm sorry if I was short with you" I said you were more than just short you were flat out rude. She said well "I'm sorry", rolled her eyes at me. I walked away. I'm stunned by the whole thing. The lack of any semblance of customer service, the lack of manners, the lack of decency in treating a human being. The absolute lack of responsibility or accountability in someone who is supposed to be a "manager". I'm also surprised at how dirty and broken down everything was. The grooming manager at the Sarasota location is by far the rudest person I ever met! I would never leave my dogs with them for grooming. If they are this rude to humans you can guarantee they are not good with your dogs! If you hate your job and life so much quit and find a new job. I've brought my dogs to different Petsmarts for years to be groomed. We started coming to this one about seven months ago and from the start it was pretty rocky. We would make our appointments on the app and immediately get calls telling us that the availability on the app didn't actually match store availability. They would ask us to change our appointment and even offered a discount if we would do so. We agreed to change our appointment and on the day of ended up getting charged full price anyway. We let it go because the cut was pretty good that time. The next time we came in for a nail trim and they acted like we had inconvenienced them to the max, but we stuck around because our littlest pup struggles with having her nails cut by us. When they brought the dogs back to us, we paid and left. When we looked at their paws later we realize that they had not trimmed their dewclaws and they had done a very poor job on their nails. We ended up having to redo them. The straw that broke the camels back was the last time I made an appointment, they called to reschedule again, no surprise there. When I returned their voicemail the girl was absolutely terrible to me. She couldn't find my appointment, she was rude, kept trying to schedule for different times than what was requested in the voicemail, and at the end I finally said "it's okay, it really seems like you don't want our business we will look for a new groomer" and she said "thanks" and hung up on me. The groomer called back minutes later saying she didn't know what happened, that it was the second time that day and for us to please come in at our originally scheduled time. We agreed even though I had a bad feeling and we never received an apology. On the day of, they asked us if we could just start heading over right away instead of waiting for our appointment time so we did. When the dogs were done they told us we had 10 minutes to come pick them up because they were closing so we rushed over as quickly as we could, paid, and got the dogs in the car. After we had already paid, tipped, and left I realized that the cut was awful. It's so weird too, because the last time they came out looking like little angels. This time you could tell they didn't listen to any of our requests, there was uneven cutting all over, there's patches that they missed, they hadn't done my dogs anal glands so I had to do them, and the hair on their paws looked choppy. I specifically asked for them to fade my dogs face hair above her eyes and make it shorter because it grows into bangs and gets into her eyes quickly and her hair came out looking like it will be bangs in two to three weeks tops with no fading at all. Normally, I would have a lot more grace because I know they're struggling with the employees. However, if you're going to treat customers and their pets this poorly you're not going to keep them with the employees you do have left. I know you get what you pay for, but all said and done Petsmart grooming is actually pretty close to regular groomer prices. (2 dogs under 25 lbs costs is $112 before tax and tip). We'be tried to be accommodating and flexible, we've always tipped, our dogs are well behaved, and we've been customers for years, but I don't think I would recommend this Petsmart to anybody. I think we're going to go back to grooming the dogs ourselves until we find somebody who is more reputable, friendly, and thorough. read more

She didn't even have the decency to speak to me herself.., after many years of tipping her quite nicely and following her from the Bradenton location. My husband and I have been coming to this Petsmart for fish since we started our tanks. Have had no issues until two horrible encounters with Elijah. About a week ago we went to purchase four gourami and he was the one bagging the fish. Never seen him until this point. We were mortified when he dropped the fish from nearly 5 feet up multiple times, trapped two fish in the bag with no water- squished between the plastic-, gave us a bag with a hole in it, and didn't even attempt to put oxygen in. Another team member offered to fix it when she saw us come up to checkout. We were upset but didn't say anything because she had helped us out. Today, however, we came back for cichlids for a different tank, and Elijah again was the one sent to help. It took nearly 12 minutes for him to even get the fish from the tank into the bag. He didn't drop them this time, but he again gave us a bag with a hole and didn't give any oxygen. Dumbfounded by either the lack of care or lack of training. Absolutely horrible experiences and unlikely we will return if we can't even guarantee that the fish we spend money on will leave the store alive. read more

This was my chihuahua's first time at any PetSmart grooming center and any grooming center at all. His first nail trim and Gigi was wonderful. She was patient and kind and attentive. I have a pomsky. I brought my 10 month old to be groomed. GiGi the new manager was a delight, a great groomer my pup has never looked so good. GiGi was so nice as was the young man working with her. His teeth were cleaned nails perfectly done and a cute blue tie about his neck. I would refer GiGi with confidence. Such a clean shape up this mix is hard, was perfectly done!! read more

RUINED MY DOGS UNDERCOAT I specifically told the groomer janelle- do NOT touch my dogs undercoat. Last minute, she said something under her breath about her "being able to shave it off and it would be fine". I used to work in petsmarts grooming department, so I know for a FACT she was taught about dual coated dogs and why you do not shave their undercoat. I come to pick up my dog and it is not at all what I asked for. She has maybe a quarter inch of hair left on her body-note: my dog is an Australian Shepherd. Her head is so choppy and angular it looks like a stop sign. There are still long pieces of hair that were neglected on her elbows, feet, and ears. It looks like janelle did a pre-bath shave and NOTHING else. I am absolutely enraged. I paid 77 dollars, and am being stopped in public to be told how I'm not a good owner for shaving my dogs undercoat- after I specified more than three times before her appointment that she was not to touch it. read more

I just popped in to look at the bettas, and found THREE dead males along with several dying males due to the terrible water quality in their cups. I'm a betta breeder and understand that sometimes one will die from stress in transit- but NONE should die from swimming in their own filth after arrival. I always shop here and usually it's a good experience but when I went to look at the reptile I noticed the milk snake and ball pythons water dishes were completely empty and looked dried out. I approached two employees near the section about it and they looked at me like I was an idiot and continued to do what they were doing. I did another round about 20 minutes later and both snakes still had no water. This petsmart is living up to the reputation that all petsmarts have... they don't care about their animals. I understand that employees get busy but that animal should not suffer because of your negligence. It takes two seconds to put some water in a dish. And to those employees that I bothered by taking up less than 30 seconds of your time maybe retail is the wrong business for you. Took my 15 month old dog to their salon for a bath, nails and they also clean their ears as part of their service. This was on Thursday. Today Saturday... my pup's left ear is raw inside. I don't know what they did or used on her, but a vet visit is now needed. Each time I have taken her there, they comment that she doesn't like getting her nails done. After this last visit, I have to wonder about the training their employees are receiving. I will never take her back there, I won't recommend that anyone use their pet salon. I will find another place to spend my money and not have this happen to my pup again. They get an "F". read more

So frustrating that once again I'm having to cancel an appointment with Lindsey because they are claiming they didn't get both dogs rabies shot info from my vet who said they faxed them both on Friday! They got one of my dogs but not the other! That's happened before and I know my Vet did their job and I believe Petsmart lost one of the faxes because she said she had a stack of papers sitting there not entered into the computer but when she went through it it wasn't there! Why would the vet send only one dog!? So now I had to cancel the appointment cuz my vet doesn't open until 8! They could have at least offered my appt to start at 8 instead of 7 since the appointment is now not scheduled and the groomer won't have anything to do until whenever her next appt is!? They could have called me sat to tell me they didn't have his shot record so I could have called the vet when they were open! Beyond frustrating times 3!! read more

Made appointment at the Bradenton Petsmart for my cat, Ruby. Grooming/haircut. Since I live 12 miles from the store Ruby tends to get nervous since she is an inside cat and not used to the car. She pooped in the carrier. When I arrived I went inside to tell them that Ruby had pooped and was told they would not groom her. I asked to talk to the groomer, Chelsea, She came out and told me they could/would not take "nervous" cats. She was afraid Ruby would get diarrhea [??] or have a heart attack [??]. WHAT? I begged them, telling them that after they rinsed her off she would be fine. NOPE. So...if you think PetSmart has professional groomers, you would be wrong. If they knew what they were doing, a nervous 9 pound cat would be no problem. Now, I will never go to them for anything and I suggest you avoid Chelsea and those fake groomers as well. I had used PetSmart at the Landings for grooming many times in the past and had wonderful experience. Each time I brought my dogs in, they came out looking fantastic without any issues. I recently took my dog to the one at Clark and 41 and explained she was matted in places. I was told she would have to be completely shaved. I asked them if they could cut out the mats and I was told they are not allowed to cut out mats (per PetSmart policy). If I wanted a completely shaved dog, I think I could have done that. In the past they would take time and listen so that I could explain if there were any issues. This grooming salon is run like a assembly line. They take the dog and no matter what you request, they do what they want. They even shaved her face and tail (absurd). I don't think they hire professional groomers. Thank heavens it will grow, and when she needs grooming again, it won't be at this PetSmart. read more

We took our dog Abbey to the groomers and they were short on staff. The staff there had horrible customer service and was very rude and unhelpful to us. Abbey got the full service grooming but it took them 4 and a half hours to finish. Not to mention but the facility was horrible, out dated and looked like a prison. I do not recommend sending your dog or any dog for that matter to this store. The only reason we brought her here was because the PetSmart in the Landings closed down unfortunately and they adored Abbey and were so sweet to her. The only thing that is not allowed at the Petshotel, are bully breeds in Doggie Day Camp. Not discriminating against bully breeds, they are simply not allowed to play with the other dogs because the strength they have in their jaws can harm another dog unintentionally. When they are in Doggie Day Camp they all play and rough house. There are reasons why these rules are there, to protect everyone. They will still take in any type of dog and board it for you, just the bully breeds are the ones not allowed to play with any other of the dogs. That is not discrimination, it is classification. Besides the location you have mentioned here doesn't even have a Petshotel . . . Do your research before coming to a complete conclusion about certain places. While i love the selection and assortments at Pet Smart, the reason for the poor rating is this; The consumer is not given the best/lowest prices on an item unless you share your personal information with the retailer. I was in the shop yesterday and a lady ahead of me asked why an item rung up at $11.99 instead of the $4.99 price on the advert. She was told she needed to have a card and the way to get the card was to share her phone# and address. The lady did not want to take time to get a card, she was confused as to why she could not get the sales price. I offered my card to her, so did another guest. The lady was embarressed and aplogized for holding us up. We all said, no, that's ok...use our card, so you dont have to over pay for the item Again, the lady was embarressed and said thank you, but no. At NO TIME, did Paul, the Pet Smart sales associate attempt to make this transaction easier on the guest. He could have easily said : let me scan a card here so you can get the fair price. It was discrimination, and it was embarrassing to this sweet lady. Your policy is NOT consumer friendly and for this reason I will suggest that consumers choose to shop at a local pet shop where every customer is treated fairly and equally in a way that does not require the consumer to give up their personal information in exchange for a "sale" price. read more

My dog had an appointment for groooming. He was checked in, and another dog came in AFTER him for the same groomer. They chose to groom the other dog who came in AFTER before my dog.
