Terrible experience. This is the PetSmart on Dakota Crossing. They left my dog looking awful. They didn't finish the service because my dog Milo wasn't holding still and bit the store manager. However, Milo is an energetic puppy. Milo is only 5 months old, and a bite from a puppy shouldn't have left him like this. For the store manager to not give us any solution to finish the cut is shows that they don't care about the customer experience. They wanted $50 for this service, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! This was also his first cut and they didn't make any expectations. The store manager, MICHELLE, was very rude and unprofessional. Her tone, body language, and overall mannerism were completely rude and unprofessional. She shouldn't be the store manager if she can't handle animals. It felt like a rushed job. There was a gentleman who tried to help us get a touch up appointment with a professional groomer because he agreed that our dog looked awful. However, the represent was persistent that we talk to MICHELLE. Now we are "banned from the store" because we were unsatisfied by the store's professionalism. Do not bring your dog/puppy here for grooming service. The grooming staff isn't capable of handling animals that give them the slightest bit of frustration. Make sure you take your animal to a professional service.

I left my dog in the care of this location on July 15, 2025; the PetSmart team and specifically supervising store manager Michelle endangered my animal and did everything in their power to absolve themselves of liability. There was a complete breakdown in protocol, policy, supervision, and care that led to the endangerment of my animal. While under the supervision of the groomers and PetSmart team my dog sustained injuries to his paw and mouth that led to bleeding. My dog, before I was informed, was transported to veterinary care that I was not familiar with. The team shared confusing and contradictory information during the process of sharing my animals status. The information and possession of my animal was unclear while the team was legally responsible for making decisions for his medical care. The team came across frazzled and unprofessional and as they seem to prioritize absolving themselves of liability instead of providing customer service and focusing on the wellness of my animal. The team attempted to leave my animal at a location that they were not willing to email to me. The patronizing and rude tone I received from Michelle the store supervisor was extremely disconcerting, which only exacerbated the alarming circumstance. Before picking my dog up, the team shared that they would never be willing to groom my dog again When I picked my dog up the team provided no receipt, no report of the incident and shared with me "that nothing happened"... And to never come back. If you care about and value your animal, I'd advise avoiding this location and team.

We have patronized the Pet Smart brand since welcoming our 5 year old rescue Roxy into our home. This was our 1st time at this location. Once inside, Roxy became very agitated and kept trying to leave out the door. Now we know why! The "Groomer" totally messed up her coat she has bald spots everywhere! As if the "Groomer" clippers were hesitating. (See pic) YES THOSE are BALD SPOTS!!! Once it wass bought to their attention, the staff wanted us to pay for this ATROCITY! WE REFUSED! NO ONE should have to deal with this level of unprofessionalizm ever! Especially when it comes to our fur babies.

It was my puppies first time getting groomed and I was a bit nervous and excited. He is a standard poodle that was 4months old. I was not expecting much going to pet smart but I was very desperate to get him groomed (as you can see from the before and after photos lol). I had selected Kemar to groom my pup. I dropped him off at 8 and picked him up at 1. I was concerned because I did not expect it to take this long but when I came back... BOOM. My dog was gorgeous. Would 100 percent recommend. Plus it was muchhhh cheaper then other groomer's in my area.

This review is purely based off of the grooming. This was the first and only time I have taken my dog to a PetSmart for grooming. He was literally groomed about 4 days prior but due to it being so close to Christmas & he was getting his pictures taken, I wanted him to get freshened up. I keep him in a short Poodle clip, so literally it wasn't much to be done. I paid the $25 extra for the Top Paw Plus treatments which seemed cool. The groomer was Jilcana M, she was nice and he didn't mind her. I give 4 stars because like I said, he was groomed 4 days prior and didn't need much done - plus I am not sure if anything from the add-on was actually done. But overall, I was very satisfied. For the "groom", the add-on, and tip, I paid just under $90.

0/10 would not recommend. I wish I could give zero stars. Took my dog for a normal grooming appt. First time at this location but he's been groomed at PetSmart for the last 4 years. No issue. I get a call thinking he's ready and it's a young lady saying he's been rushed to the hospital. Mind you. He is a 5lb yorkiepoo. She says somehow he's bleeding and they don't know how it happened. He must've hit a door or something. Im Like wth. So I rush to the hospital to be told he was in fact cut by the groomer twice. When I initially called the salon manager said they would be viewing the tape to see what happen knowingly all along it was a grooming accident. Now supposedly all the fees were to be covered by the salon as he was under there care. Here it is a week later and they still have not paid. I had to call to tell them After the vet called and stated the bill was still Unpaid. Do not take your pet. I repeat.

While on the phone, I asked for rates, since they are not listed on the site. She informed me that she really couldn't give me an estimate even, and that only after seeing my dog's coat would she be able to offer a price. She informed that she mainly does smaller dogs, and I verified if she was wanting/willing to do my larger doodle (70lbs). She said she would. Here's my mistake -- I should have pressed further for a price, even a ballpark estimate, but I didn't. More on that in a second... We drove quite a ways out of our way to Cassandra's home near Olney, MD. She greeted us outside of her house where we talked for a few minutes before I handed off my dog in the driveway. Since we're in COVID times, I did not expect to go into her house or see where she grooms or have extensive conversation, and that was fine. I killed some time in the area and after two-ish hours, Cassandra called me to come pick up my doggo. She said she would be emailing me an invoice that I could pay prior to pickup. I open up my email and I see a bill for $220. TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY dollars. Wow! I was floored. We have never paid that much for a grooming ever, and we typically get our pup groomed in DC proper or downtown Silver Spring. Here, we drove out to rural MD, where she grooms from her home, so no overhead even, and the price is double that than what we typically pay. Also to mention, there was a $10 COVID cleaning fee included. I never stepped foot into her house, we wore masks in the driveway where I handed off my dog -- what's to clean? My dog? I assume she was getting a bath either way. Anywho, I didn't pay the bill right away, as I wanted to ask her about why the rate was so high in person. When I arrived, my dog was sheared from head to toe. She's a doodle but she looked like a weird greyhound. Ears, snout, everything, clipped to the skin with no styling to be seen. She explained that our dog's fur was matted and that this was the only answer. So, yes, our dog definitely had some matting in various spots but we brush her regularly and she was groomed 12 weeks prior, so we're not talking months and months of overgrown fur. Even if she had to take her fur down really close, she still could have styled her head/ears/face to have at least some semblance of the doodle cut... those areas were not matted at all. So not only was this the highest rate we have ever been asked to pay, it was also the worst groom my dog had ever received. When I picked up my dog, I nicely asked why the rate was so high, and explained that we typically pay about half that in DC. Cassandra told me that was standard rate. I disagreed and told her that we really have never paid close to that amount in 3 years. She shrugged. It was a quick and friendly exchange, and I was hoping that by giving her the opportunity to lower the rate, that she might. She didn't. I paid it and we left. We won't be going back. I don't know why I'm leaving two starts as opposed to one. One just seems so harsh. But tbh it was a one start experience. My strong advice: get a rate upfront.

At first I was encouraged, they had a cat groomer that was very communicative and prices were reasonable. I would bring my previous cat for grooming but it was always difficult to schedule an appointment because they rarely answer the phone. On one occasion, I thought, let me go physically to the office to make the appointment. The door was open and no one was in the shop. The next day when I came again to make the appointment, the receptionist laughed and said they had someone new and that person didn't know how to lock up. Unfortunately my previous cat died and I got a new cat in late 2022. I explained the death to the receptionist when I booked the new cat for grooming. When I got to the appointment, she was calling the new cat the dead cats name--I had to explain to her again. Two additional times, when I was booking grooming, I had to tell the receptionist that the previous cat was dead. It was the same person but apparently cannot or will not update their records? Most recently booked grooming in November 2025. My cat gets the same thing every time and that was confirmed on the phone with the receptionist. When I arrived, the person at the front desk asked what the cat was getting done, and I answered confused, "she gets the same thing every time, do you not have the card?" Then she found the card, like "oh okay". Hours later, my mother called me to tell me she had a missed call from the groomers. I called several times, no one picked up. Now I'm concerned. If you don't pick up the phone when my cat is in your care, that's a huge problem. I drove to the shop. The receptionist is laughing with a client and a dog. Then I'm thinking, "is this why they're not picking up the phone". I ask the receptionist "is my cat ready" she responds, "good question" as if it's a joke?! She walks back and says, "I just got here". That's so unprofessional and irresponsible. When I talk to the cat groomer, I explained my concerns and that I have been a customer for years. He says they don't have a receptionist in the morning--which I did not know. Then he refuses to apologize for the gross misconduct. I got an email recently where they said they would be raising their prices--with this poor customer service and management they should not!

I didn't want to leave her in cage waiting. That's the good thing about having groomer in the building. Many groomers elsewhere same thing happens and you don't have that flexibility. Although I usually call first to make sure they are not running late. The staff was courteous. They started the grooming at 4:45 and it was over by 6:30. The place I had taken her in Virginia didn't do such a great job and the ears were not plucked so she was in dire need of some real grooming. When I arrived to pick her up she was super happy and alert. She looked and smelled wonderful. And even got a bow. It didn't last long on her hair but she looked adorable. I have a shin tzu and the grooming cost $70 before tip. Just to give you an idea. However, it was well worth it. Suggested you email them in advance because they do fill up quickly. When I brought her home and inspected their work the ears were clean and no hair in there. The pads of the feet were trimmed nicely and the size of the cut I think she said was 5 was excellent. Just right for my pup. I will definitely use them again. Highly recommend upscale grooming!!!
