I love this location and come here often. Seems like you added some younger staff.. anyways, today I came to get crickets and I got 90 large and the tall brown haired girl helping me had an attitude. Especially when I asked for cardboard. It didn't look like there was any. So I asked her again to put some in and she replied snotty with " I already did". I let it go, but when I went to go purchase my crickets that same tall brown hair girl came up and started talking bad about another customer to the employee cashing me out.... --I lost about $9.00 because majority of them died by the time I got home. #DISAPPOINTED. read more

Was in a week And a half ago. They weren't selling fish due to system maintenance. The employee told be fish are available the 24th. I go in today to buy fish and was yelled at from across the store saying they are not selling fish. Their sign states fish are unavailable UNTIL the 24. I tried to speak with a manager and still got nothing. I never had any issues with this location but I was very unhappy with this experience. read more

The young lady was very pushy and rolled her eyes at me when I asked about a product. Would be going to pet supplies instead from now on. I come to this store often to buy food for my dog, cat and bearded dragon, I often see this KID standing around doing nothing, also usually giving off a very heavy stench of weed, I don't know if petsmart influences doing drugs on the job but I would surely hope not. The same kid has also been VERY rude the past few times he has rung me up. There is also a very tall dark haired girl who was extremely rude when I politely asked for crickets, then proceeded to give me TRIPLE the amount and was rushing as if she had somewhere else to be. I have also noticed that some of the tanks look absolutely DISGUSTING and are sometimes holding DEAD fish which makes me not want to buy anything from this store again. I took my dog here for grooming and they kept him way longer than they originally said and they are super unfriendly!

I can't say enough about the ladies in grooming and the manager of the store. We lost our pride and joy Hector (French Bulldog) and they were sweet enough to send a condolences card signed by the girls, and a bag of treats home with my husband. They do an amazing job with my other 2 boys (walrus, Myles and Bull mastiff, Rocky), and a Pedis for my Princess Lily (Yorkie). I thank you for all you do and know my babies are safe in your hands. I did training with Kim for both of my dogs. Beginner through advanced. My dogs learned so much, as did I. They loved playtime after the work, and Kim had explained socialization is just as important as the obedience side. One of my dogs is reactive, and she gave me so many pointers to help on walks, and when introducing my dog to new dogs. I still use some of her guidance today, and it has helped me keep my dogs safe, and happy. Thank you Kim! read more

The last time I took my dog to this place to get groomed she started developing a seizure. I took her to the animal hospital and was highly suggested to put her to sleep, I called the place and apparently she got so anxious and scared because they have been moving heavy metal tables in the same room where they were grooming my dog. This was their third strike. We have a long haired German Shepard who loves to get groomed. We usually go the the Pet Smart in Oswego and are very happy with them. Due to scheduling we decided to try Yorkville's Pet Smart again. We had the same issues. When I dropped him off I specifically requested he be totally dry when I pick him up. He came out with the same issues, still wet, had balls of fur hanging from him and knots in his long areas of fur. I sent him back requesting he be totally dried. The second time he was still wet on his belly and inner back legs. While I hate to be picky, when we pay $63 for a bath, dry and nail grinding I would appreciate him being dry. Our biggest reason for this is due to his long, thick fur when he dries he will hold onto the wet dog smell. Not what we want after he gets a bath. The girl claimed he was wet because of laying on a wet towel. If she knew that was an issue I guess she should have removed the wet towel instead of providing excuses. Pet Smart, (as a store), has been good to us, but I would recommend driving to the Oswego store, especially if you're looking for grooming. read more

I don't come into this store very often any more now that Pet Supplies Plus opened in Yorkville, but recently had an AWESOME experience here! My husband and I are adopting another cat and needed a cage so that there would be a barrier in between my cat (a little diva) and the new cat for a few days, or as long as it takes for them to get along. We wanted to purchase the floor model because it was already assembled, but when we took it up to the counter it was apparently missing a piece (the plastic tray in the bottom). We said we didn't really need it though as we were going to put a litterbox in there already, so she said we could either get a new one out of the box and receive help assembling it, OR, get a discount! I figured the discount offer would be like $5 or $10 and was ready to take it BUT, they offered us a whopping $40 off! So we got the intermediate size dog cage and a small litter pan for $65, which is about half of what we were anticipating to spend! Thanks PetSmart for making our sales experience great. All the staff we talked to were friendly and helpful despite being busy. read more

They just lost a loyal 12 year customer. Drove in the sub-zero temps to get there before they closed to get our dog his food... they decided to close up early. Found the doors locked and their backs to the store front. After knocking on the glass, the one of the three standing there that finally turned to face me yelled, "We're closed". I said, "Uh, yes, in 10 minutes". They ignored me. I continued to knock and another person just yelled, "We said we're closed". The register was still on and they were just standing around in front of it. Another person pulled in and also wanted to shop. I told her they decided to close early... she was pretty upset too. I yelled, "Merry Christmas" through the glass and said my gift to them would be to call their corporate office. I went back to my car to get my phone and look up their website, confirmed the closing time, then went back and took their picture. They wouldn't look at me. They don't care about their customer or your pet. Poor customer service. read more

The store itself is fine. Grooming dept, not so much. I've taken my dog there to be bathed & trimmed around 6 times. She weighs 5 pounds. My 1st visit was great and the price was reasonable. The next few times, the price was higher & the trim was uneven. I had different groomers each time & didn't care for any of them. The last visit was $10 higher & they said it's because it costs more on weekends (news to me!) & they did a deluxe service. All I've ever asked for on each visit was the same exact thing: a bath, basic trim & nails trimmed & ears cleaned. Still don't know why the price changes each time but I don't care to ever go back & find out. read more

The store is great and the employees are friendly. I took 2 of my dogs their for training it it was great. the reason for 3 stars instead of 5 is for the grooming. The first time I took my dog to be groomed they said it would be 26.00 for shampoo, dry, cut, teeth brushed and nails trimmed. Great!! The second time I came in the total for the same service was 36.00. I asked why and they said the 26.00 was for first time customers. Ok. I can accept that. The third time I took my dog in the total was 46.00. Again, I asked why. They said that the teeth being brushed and nails trimmed was an extra add on. Fine. Whatever, But then the 4th time my total (for a small 15 pound westie) was 60.00. The price went up 10 dollars (or more) each time I came in!! I asked why. They said because the westie package is 44.00 plus the add on for nails and teeth. Oh MY LORD!!! To top it off that hair cut was terrible. They pretty much just shaved him and you can see the marks in his fur from the buzz clippers. At this point I complained because the cut was terrible. They have their "guarantee" so I wanted my money back but they just offered me a free cut in the future. Great. I took my dog back and they did another terrible job but I cant really be re-embursed for free. I should have just got my money back. Needless to say I no longer go to Petsmart for grooming. The prices should not change ever 8 weeks by 10.00. There was no consistency. Shop at the store, use their training, stay away from the grooming salon. read more

I went in here to buy everything I needed in preparation for a chameleon I also bought from here. Sadly my chameleon was very sick a month after and I had to put her down. After talking to the vet I found that they gave me the wrong information on the light for her tank which led to her getting extremely sick. If a store is going to be selling exotic animals that need such specific care, they should have people who actually know what they're doing. I spent a lot of money on medical bills for my chameleon and in having to put her down all because of their negligence in properly informing their staff. This store does do a good job in grooming and is good for other animals, but they really need to step it up when it comes to more rare animals. read more

We love this Petsmart. Our 80 pound german shepherd puppy also loves this Petsmart! They usually have everything in stock that we need. The only thing we need are more durable toys. Maybe it's a ploy to keep coming and buying more - because who can say no to that face? We love the groomers there...the first time we went they took great care of my then 4 month old puppy. He went a few weeks back and they screwed up our appointment. They took him in anyway (and obviously busy) and charged us the puppy rate and gave us free nail grinding for the mix up. We also love the report cards we get and you know they are personal because they said things only our huge, very puppy GS dog is like! read more

i trained my German shepherd at Petsmart, my first experience was not positive. I signed up for another 6 weeks and met top notch trainer Kim B. Her knowledge, love and compassion for her fur students are outstanding! I had such a great 2 year experience , training with her and meeting her amazing dogs as well! NEVER AGAIN!! I was in the area so I decided to take my dog in for nail grinding (normally go to the one in Oswego). They said they would page me when she was ready. My daughter, who came in after I did, went to look for me at the grooming area and that's when she said she saw 2 groomers holding my dog down (7 pound Chihuahua) , put a cone on her head and then yelled at my dog to KNOCK IT OFF!! My daughter immediately came looking for me. The groomers looked shocked that we were together realizing they just yelled at our dog. I have never had a problem in Oswego where my dog has had her nails done numerous times! Train your staff better and make sure they have patience with a scared dog!!! read more

We LOVE this Pet Smart! They're usually the only store that has what we need in stock. This past stop they did not have what we needed, unfortunately. But! The manager (I wish I would have gotten her name) was eager to find resolve by offering to look for a substitute, checking her next delivery and checking nearby stores. She was genuinely apologetic and so kind to everyone and seemed to be enjoyed by the staff as well. I cannot speak for the grooming aspect of this store, but I can say the rest of the store is great!! I have never met an employee who isn't smiling. I definitely prefer to go down to Yorkville over the other couple of stores closer to me. read more

Being a chain store we didn't think we would be happy with the grooming services at PetSmart but we found Victoria and she does amazing work. outright bad place to go. took 2 dogs in for bath and grooming along with nail clips on polish. 'Expensive for 2 full size dogs' first dog was fine, second still had a snarl of fur behind his ear, also his nails were not touched, Got home and found these out as well as he was limping. Pet's Mart in Yorkville falsely posts hours they are not available. Web site states open until 7pm. As I head to the grooming area it's dark. Door hours state open until 6 pm but that is false it's 5:50pm now. They take the last appointment at 5:30pm and if there is no appointment they leave. So no they really aren't open until 6pm as stated on the door. Guess they don't care if they advertise falsely. But for me and my fur babies we will be going to Pet Supplies plus in Yorkville for our pet supplies from now on! read more

Jessica is my groomer of choice at the Yorkville Petsmart. She takes care of both my Pomeranian and Border Collie. A former grooming service requested that my Pom be drugged because she was to stressed out. Jessica has a way with her that requires no drugs and it doesn't take her nearly as long so neither dog needs to be caged all day. read more

My boyfriend and I have made the Yorkville location our main store for our puppy of a year old. We have been coming here since we got her and we've been pretty satisfied for the most part. I like the atmosphere and the people can be very friendly. One problem I've had in the past is taking our German Shepherd to get her nails done and they have cut her more than once. It is disappointing to my boyfriend and I considering we trust these people to be careful with our animals, not injury them. I completely understand that they make mistakes just like everybody else.... it just shouldn't happen every time we go there. Another issue I wanted to comment on would be the fact that they need to try a bit harder to scan coupons and use the coupons that customers have available to use. For example, a couple weeks back, I went in there with a 20% off coupon that was location on my boyfriend's phone. We had asked the guy at the cash register if it was valid to use. At first, he looked dumbfounded. Then he made the attempt to scan the coupon. Needless to say, it did not scan. Once he realized the scanner wouldn't read it, he handed it back to us and said "sorry it's not working." Now.... in that situation, a ton of options are going through my head such as typing in the bar code, getting a manager to help us out, maybe giving a bit more effort? Any of those would suffice. For the amount of money we spend there, I was really upset considering our bill was over $60.00 when we tried using it. The effort was pathetic and the guy was just not a happy individual. A little more effort next time while attempting to scan a coupon would make things a lot better for customers and the company as a whole. Thanks. read more

Do not take your pet here for grooming!! My dog had gone here a few times and some of those times he would have bald spots that were red and irritated. They assured me it was due to freminator use. Well he went there for the last time this October and had the same issue and they told me he slipped and was having a hard time on the concrete floor in the bath area, so they washed him as he lay on the floor. For the next 2 days at home he would randomly poop in the house and seemed listless. But it cleared up quickly. When I went on vacation for a week I left him with family. When I got back they had told me he had been very ill and had to be helped to his feet. A visit to the vet determined he had injured his hips and had a severe case of canine MERSA! For the last 2 months he has been on medication that he needed 3 times a day. Sadly despite our best efforts and having beat the MERSA, my poor boy's, a 9 year old lab, inside have been so ravaged by the illness. We are taking him to the vet today to put him to rest and end his suffering. Petsmart still claims no fault. If you love your pet have them groomed elsewhere. read more
