I hired Phil to move stuff from our kitchen into a closet and another room that is being used as a makeshift kitchen as our kitchen is being remodeled. This is something I would have handled myself, but I recently had a hip replacement and was using a walker. The quote was for $150/ hour for 2 people. I know , for a job as easy as this, but- please remember - hip replacement. Phill called at 2:31 to let me know they were on the way. Phil and Caleb came. Caleb kept moving and working the whole time. Phil likes to take breaks. After watching Phil take a trip with 3 utensils in one one hand, I pointed to the boxes I had and suggested emptying the drawer items into a box and then transfer them into the empty drawers and shelves I had cleared for that purpose. Nope, Three trips to empty one drawer. My husband was working from home that day and shut down his computer at about 5 and was upstairs by 5:05. Phil and Caleb had finished. Phil wrote out the invoice. I was shocked, I was charged for 3.5 hours 2:00 to 5:30. I was in too much pain and wasn't up for a confrontation, so I just paid the bill, and am now writing an online review. read more

Pettinger was referred to me by a family member because they were fast, efficient and very affordable. I was quoted $150 for 2 men and a truck. My move was .8 miles from the storage unit to apartment. I met them at 10 a.m. and they were done at 11:30 a.m. and charged me $375! When I questioned Phil he said it cost more than quoted because I had to pay for their drive back to Greenacres from S. Palouse Highway (14.3 miles = $100). Buyer beware. read more

Underwhelmed, Disappointed, Overcharged. They arrived 10-15 minutes late.. And then it went downhill from there. They damaged the only 2 major pieces of furniture I had, both pieces of a less than one year old bedroom set, damn near snapped a leg clean off my chest or drawers. Walls scraped and dinged in the old home and the new. I started the stop watch when the truck pulled up to the old house, and stopped it when the move was complete, even though we were only 15mins into the start of hour 3 they charged for a full 3 hours.. Oh, and then they added a hour for "Travel Time" from their office on the South Hill to Shadle Area.. At no time or anywhere on their website does it state that there is a charge for coming to the job you are paying them for. I like the idea though, I'm going to start billing my company for my morning commute. read more

Don't waste your time. I should have known when they blew me off for the bid twice. Finally showed up to give a bid and set a day and time. I checked in the day of to confirm and was assured the appointment was good. After I waited for 2 HOURS after the appointment was supposed to start I just cancelled. Very unprofessional. read more

First they came several hours earlier than scheduled, making us not ready for packing their truck, then they charged me 2 hours of travel time for a move in Spokane Valley. We used these guys a couple weekends ago and I have been meaning to write a review but busy with unpacking. I did a lot of research to try and find a moving service to help us. These guys were the cheapest in town and they showed up with 3 guys when a lot of the competitors only offered 2. They were prompt with arrival and only needed 24 hour notice, although I had called them a week in advance, him and his crew were very easy going and great to work with. As far as the work goes they were able to get all of our couches, beds, tables, dresser, etc from a 3rd floor apartment and into our new house in only an hour and half! They without a doubt cut our move time in half! We were really happy and thoroughly impressed! They are worth every penny and I would highly recommend them to anyone with an upcoming move. read more

Dropped my elderly mothers $1600 refrigerator, scratched it with a nice deep gouge in the side as well and the back got crushed from the drop. We watched them do it... Should have told them to leave right there. Owner won't communicate and kept telling us "he will come and look at it" and never did. After 3 missed appointments to come look at the fridge we filed a claim against his insurance. Guess what? He doesn't have the appropriate insurance.... Next step is small claims court. Be wary of this business... He clearly doesn't care about his reputation and the customer. read more

Overall these guys did a great job. Two tips for anyone using them. 1) Watch them like a hawk. They will damage your home and belongings without ever saying a word. 2) Don't pay until you have inspected your home for damage and any belongings you care about including electronics. If you try to contact them later they will never return your calls. Besides that they are good for the price and show up on time. I found the Pettinger Family Movers number on Craigslist, and after doing some research on moving prices I thought that theirs was reasonable at $50/hour. I admit i was skeptical, but when I called the phone call was professional, kind and straight-forward. We arranged a time with less than 24 hour notice, and they showed up the next day exactly at the time we arranged. These guys were great as they carefully moved (and wrapped) all of my stuff into the back of their truck. After my house was emptied, they happily drove to my new place and switched out sofas for me, and then ultimately followed me to my storage unit. Their great service didn't end there as they also helped put all of the items into the unit. These guys were fast, professional, courteous...really exceptional. I would highly recommend them, and will definitely be using them again! read more

Not very professional and totally no service after the move! I have used Pettinger Family Movers twice and referred a couple of friends. Both used Phil for moving their residence...not ever again. My prized possession was the only thing i requested to be handled very carefully. All three movers were there and acknowledged my request. The owner stepped on my original piece of art and broke the Masterpiece Gallery glass and bent the frame. He apologized and promised to reimburse me. I waited until Michaels had their 80% off on all custom framing. After two calls to Phil, I was told to send the bill to 4304 E. 41st Street, Spokane 99203. I sent it registeded return request. It was never signed for and was returned to me. I guess he sent the clear message of how much he honors is promises and what he thinks of his customers. Never trust this man or his "Family" business. Ive used them now 3 times and have referred all my friends and family to them and they do an amazing job and do it in record timing! They also helped by putting my daughters bed together since I didnt have the right tools:) I highly recommend. Used them in 2013, and they arrived with 4 guys, which was great, and things went quickly and smoothly. No complaints. Used them again, just this month (5/1/17 and 5/12/17)--2x--as I had to wait a couple of weeks to get into my apartment. The 1st move (from home to storage), they left me with a LOT of miscellaneous items--some of which were entirely too heavy for me to move myself--because they had another move scheduled. I did give them a really good idea of how much stuff I had, so that they could come prepared. I will also mention that I told them REPEATEDLY during the move, that I had 2 hernias, and couldn't lift a whole lot. (P.S. their price had gone up $10 an hour since 2013). He charged me 30 minutes extra, with no mention or written receipt of what the extra 30 minutes ($40) was for. Knowing I was using them again, I was going to talk to him about this, at that time. I will say they were also cranky when they showed up at 9 a.m., but by the end of the move, around 12:30 p.m., they were pleasant and chatty. 2nd move was a NIGHTMARE! (from storage to new apt). I did have to push it out by an hour, 2x, but he advertises 24 hours a day, and I called to let him know about the change, with no comments. I let them know, when they arrived, that I would need them to move EVERYTHING this time, as I could not. Not only did they not load the truck up as much as they did the first time, they cut me off after the first truckload and said we could schedule the rest for another day! I did schedule for the following Monday, but cancelled once I saw the condition of my items they did actually move: boxes not placed right side up (they were all marked, so no question as to which was up or down), boxes or 25-45 gallon containers stacked 3 high--and they were heavy--some of which were placed on my beautiful entertainment center, so I had to drag them off the EC, leaving "swirly" scratches. And what they did move, was not complete--partial bed frame, no slats (left in storage), moved my couch cushions, but left the frame in storage. Left behind a large rectangular china curio cabinet....now how am I supposed to move that myself! Still cannot find the metal frame for my 2nd bedroom bed set. AND, I was charged 60 minutes travel ($80), for a distance that was 2/3 less than the first move. Lastly, Phil was so cranky, that he wouldn't even respond to questions until the end when I had a friend show up and I pointedly asked if he wanted help (they were at the end of the load; he declined help). My overall take is that he now charges more, uses less guys, has no people skills, and generally seems miserable with his job. Will no longer recommend and will never use them again. read more

Phil, the owner, agreed to help me with a small move, so I committed to purchase a bedroom set; he then never returned my calls to schedule it- leaving both me and the person that I was buying the furniture from in a bind. Warning. Check their insurance coverage. It is basically non existent. I filed a claim with their Progressive Policy and was denied. Only covers items while in transit. Does not cover damage to your items while in the process of the move other than while the truck is rolling down the road. They have no liability insurance otherwise. So if they drop, or damage your personal items while loading unloading zip, nada, no coverage. If they drop your pricey washer and dryer down a flight of stairs. No coverage. The owner will not communicate at all. Makes all kinds of promises to make it right and then blows you off. read more

Did not show up! Owner evaded phone call! Scheduled to move us and decided not to show. My husband called about 15 min after they were schedule to help us. The owner answered the phone and once we said who we were and nicely asked how far out they were the owner hung up the phone! We called back and he had turned his phone off. Phil and Reggie arrived right as scheduled! They carefully moved a heavy, three-piece table from our main floor dining room to a downstairs location. Next, they followed me to a nearby storage facility to retrieve a very heavy, crated marble dining table. They secured it nicely in their truck and we returned to the house. They carefully moved this table into the now-open dining room, unpacked it gingerly, and placed it in the center of the room where we needed it. They worked as a team, taking care to not waste time. I was over charged, my furniture roughly treated, scratched, corner gone, drawers left out that they had removed, rude remarks when I asked why they were taking apart my sofas, and my clothes were filthy from the drawers they had taken out even when asked not to. Then they were in such a hurry they wouldn't help me center a king size bed and moved it close to the wall. Never hire these guys. read more

I needed help unloading due to a recent knee injury I have a hard time with stairs. I called prior to them showing up to see if they accept credit cards and was told cash or check only. Fine, I will go to the ATM and meet you there, I have a small 6x12 U-Haul, should take less than 1 hour, how much cash do I need to bring I asked? $80 per hour so, if less than 1 hour, $80 was the replay. They showed up at 3pm sharp and finished unloading at 3:42PM (which included a 5 minute cell phone call one of them received that halted work). The guy goes to his truck and brings me back a bill for $180 !! When I inquired as to why it was so high he said that he forgot that it was Sunday and they charge $90 per hour on Sundays (smiling). Even if you round up the 42 minute to an hour that doesn't explain the additional hour? Very deceptive, A downright RIP OFF!! read more

I moved from Spokane to Kansas City. I hired the company to pack our things and load them into a truck for transport. I was charged more than the estimate but worse was the careless way some of our things were packed into truck. Although I supplied more professional blankets than were used or needed the furniture that we had cared for with great effort was just jammed into the Truck, Much of it arrived gouged,and scratched, dining chairs leg broken. Poor packing resulted in broken dishes. Tempur pedic bed mechanism damaged beyond repair. The crew that unloaded the truck in KC pointed out to us the way the furniture was loaded and pointed out the haphazard way the truck was loaded with half baked use of the moving blankets. The son Phil had a surly attitude and it was obvious that he had no interest in being there or doing a good job. Unless you care little for your well cared for furniture I would not trust tis company.. If I could give these guy negative stars I would. read more

ABSOLUTELY RUDE PEOPLE!!! So, I call these guys to get a bid on how much to move my daughter from the house she's in, to her new apartment. The person on the phone Phil I think, was as rude as anyone I have ever encountered. He says (insert rude tone) we move by hour $80 per, I asked if I could get a bid for the whole house 1590 sqft... (insert rude tone) he says "ya sure whatever you want... I can do it Friday" I say okay fine, give him the address and he F&×#ING HANGS UP ON ME!!! Then today the guy calls (in a really rude tone) "Hey man.. we're coming to move your stuff" I say wait a minute, I wanted a bid first? And under his breath I her some nasty word and he HANGS UP ON ME AGAIN!? I have NEVER been so insulted in my life. I absolutely would steer clean of this company! I'm an easy going guy and it takes a lot to get me fired up and I have never written a review in my life... that should tell you how upset and insulted I am.
