I signed up for Yelp specifically to DIS Pettit's Donuts that are sold all over town at Bucky's gas stations. I have a favorite donut and at $1.29 for each donut I would hope that they could fix them up correctly. Hope springs eternal it seems. I have gone all over town, to many Bucky's and have found the same problem. The ceam filled donuts appear to have filling but there is no filling inside. The donuts are fabulous. They also have kolaches and the jalapeño flavor is heavenly. The shining star in my selection today was the blueberry. Normally blueberry donuts are cake donuts and I'm not a fan. Their blueberry is a blueberry glaze with blueberry crumble. OMG easily the best donut I have ever had. read more

I love old school doughnut places, and love this place. My favorite doughnut place in Omaha by far. This place should have bus tours arriving every morning around 7 AM, I ran a trucking terminal on N 11th and every time I called a Driver Meeting my people knew that Pettit's Pastry donuts and rolls would be served along with hot, fresh truck driver coffee. We were in Omaha for a bodybuilding competition a few weeks ago. Like every bodybuilders dream, my coach woke me up at 4:30 am before my show and told me donuts would do my body good. SCORE! So right away I yelp'ed the closest donut shop to our hotel and it must have been fate because this place was literally only 2 blocks away AND was open at 4:30 in the morning! So we hopped in the donut-mobile and arrived at this shop within minutes. As soon as we walked in the pungently sweet smell of freshly baked donuts hit my nostrils. The varieties were endless and as I mixed and matched a dozen donuts my anticipation to snarf these beauties only grew. We took them back to the hotel and dove right in. They were amazing!! I am normally a white frosted cake donut kinda girl, but the traditional glazed donut with white frosting and sprinkles changed my life. They were fantastic!! I also thoroughly enjoyed the German chocolate with cream filling long john. This will for sure be our go-to place when we are in Omaha again! read more

Good stuff! Been going here since I was a kid. The best time to get donuts is at 5 a.m. when they open because all the are donuts fresh and hot! I like the traditional glazed donuts and the glazed twist but not a huge fan of the fancy donuts such as the cream or jelly filled but I do also love the cinnamon rolls and the apple fritters. Definitely the best donuts in town I would highly recommend you go there if you have a sweet tooth for a donut or just want something sweet in the morning with your coffee. read more

One of the best pastry shops in Omaha worth every penny

This is Omaha's premiere non-chain bakery. It could be in a more savory location, yes, but again, it's Omaha's only true, starched-in-the-socks old school type bakery. I stopped by there about 6 a.m. on a Sunday a while back, and sure enough, in true bakery fashion, they had their neon 'OPEN' sign lit. Went in, got a chocolate french donut with white glaze and Oreo sprinkling. Quite good. Also got a menagerie of other assorted goodies, including a large half-dipped chocolate and shaved Almonds cookie. They have a very nice assortment of Robert's chocolate milk, normal milks, and so on, everything one would need to compliment their fresh, tasty bakery item. Did I mention they've been in the same location for like 40 years? The true mark of a good eatery. Surely recommended, don't be scared away by the occasional transient, I've never had a problem getting to my super fine baked goods. read more

I've been a customer with my mom since I was a little girl. They did my wedding cake which was beautiful. We go for every birthday. Lately they've gotten really sloppy. 7/30/17 we got my daughters birthday cake. It was visibly uneven and crooked (embarrassing) for a party. On the bottom left side it also sloped downward. Although huge fans of fresh cakes losing loyalty due to sloppy presentation. Who thought this was okay to send this cake out at $52 with no apology?! Step up your game or lose customers. In 1968 during my first year of high school I would have to transfer buses at 16th & Locust. In the mornings while waiting for the bus on that same corner the State Bar would sell Pettit's chocolate frosted cake donuts for 5 cents. The bar is long gone & so is the bus route but those cake donuts are burned in my memory & will always remain my favorites. The woman that worked with my husband and myself to create our wedding cake was extremly nice and very helpful. She did a wonderful job at keeping track of my ideas and writing them down to comunicate with us throuh out the process. If she was ever to leave this business we would be sure to refer her or have her do another cake. That's all I have good to say otherwise. Apparently our wedding cake had fallen over, fine accidents happen and we both understood. The thing that upset ME most was that one phone call was not made to tell me this on the day of my wedding. No appology was given either. It was found out two days after my wedding when I CALLED that I found out one of the owner's had delivered our wedding cake. He was a real as#%0!@ to me upon delivering it, he never apologized or even told me what had happened and when he brought the cake over to the cake table instead of setting it down he let it drop. The back half of the cake started to fall inward and I had to place the fondont back on the frosting. I later found out when cutting the cake that the reason it had done that was because the back half of my top two layers were frosting only. The cake that I had thought would be enough for all my guests was no longer because we were short a lot of cake. No one at Pettit's had bothered to offer to bring in a sheet cake so my guest or even myself and my husband would have enought to eat. I never got a piece of my cake or photos, which by this point I could careless. My family has gone to Pettit's for generations, obviously with the new generation owners that WILL AND HAS Stopped. I have made it known to everyone that attended my wedding and will continue. They did rebate SOME (not all because that"s against company policy) money. In the end none of this was handled proffesionaly and they have lost a lot of business due the OWNER's bad personality. read more

Pettit's pastry is a horrible place to get wedding cake from, on may 3rd it was my moms wedding day. She and her husband decided to go with them for a traditional wedding cake, They could have went anywhere in omaha and chose them, the woman they worked with suggested a small cake for show and a sheet cake to actually have cut and serve to the guests. The sheet cake never arrived to the reception. Me being the daughter, got on the phone as did several family members trying to get ahold of the business to say hey you forgot the key component. No answer. Went all over town to salvage what we could of the cake situation. My mother and her husband got back from the honeymoon, The husband called up talked to a guy in charge, he just laughed and said well do u still want the cake, Frank said no the wedding was two weeks ago. No management offered any sort of appology or refund. I would never reccommend them for a wedding cake ever in my life time. To this day may 25 my mother is still upset and has ever right to be!! Awful place, awful management! Never again in my family will they see any sort of business, I used to go downtown to the location and get donuts quite often but i will go elsewhere from now on such as winchells and donut stop from here on out for me! Donuts taste better and are cheaper and winchells anyhow. read more
