They have an online pet portal now where you can schedule appointments & check on what vaccines are due, or order meds. They treat all kinds of animals here, not just cats & dogs. I recommend Dr. Justin Stewart, because we've seen him the most, but I never had a problem with any of the vets here. We've never actually seen the famous Dr. Mike in all the years we've been coming here though. My 12 year old Bichon just had his well visit with shots today & all went great even though they were swamped on a Monday morning. Parking is in plaza lot & does get busy (mostly due to a Dunkin being there). There is a small piece of grass with poop bags where dogs can relieve themselves on one side of the lot. I recommend this veterinarian office.

He is loving and very friendly but jumpy, STRONG, and just over the top. I admit he was a wild thing. It was hard finding a vet that would deal with him, and I understood why. He was, and sometimes still is, 95 lbs of over enthusiastic spastic. But I love him more than my life. And I have trusted Dr. Stewart with my baby for 7 years and he has taken care of him, through terrible infections that we brought back from swamps near New Orleans, through strong allergies, and different procedures where he was put under anesthesia. They are caring, wonderful, patient, and courageous people. I can't recommend them enough.

I would prefer that this animal hospital have more evening and weekend hours, but we did get evening or Friday appointments that worked for us. For both appointments, the front staff quickly checked us in, and we used the separate waiting area for cats. The vet techs started our appointments on time. I appreciated that they had familiarized themselves with my cat's previous medical records. For the first appointment, the veterinarian arrived several minutes late, but she was very knowledgeable and nice (even after my cat when being palpated peed on the table!). She did a physical exam on Nika, and we discussed Nika's history of kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, anemia, and UTIs. The vet said that many kidney-disease cats need longer than 2 weeks of antibiotics, which is true and something that my previous veterinarians never said. She recommended a supplement to prevent UTIs. Later, another veterinarian here promptly ordered a refill for a thyroid medication for Nika. Employees at the front desk promptly rang up the fees for the exam, supplement, blood tests, and fecal test. I thought that the prices were OK. A few days later, Dr. Santabene called me about the test results. We spoke for about 16 minutes, and she communicated very thoroughly and politely. Nika's kidney labs were much worse than before, so we increased her lactated ringers (LR) and added a phosphate binder that was ready for pickup hours later. For my upcoming international vacation, Dr. Santabene was still willing to keep Nika at VCA Wexford's pet hotel where the vet techs would administer 100 mLs of lactated ringers on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and 150 mLs on Mondays and Fridays (because vet techs do not work on weekends). The employees at the pet hotel took a while to tell me accurate prices, but the final estimate was $1,324.30 - $1,374.30 (which included $344 for 10 fluid therapies, $86 for 10 biohazard waste disposals, $244 for 10 technician office visits, and $650-700 for 13-14 nights in a nice-looking feline boarding condo). However, days later Nika began to show serious symptoms, so I had her euthanized by a different veterinarian. Weeks later Dr. Santabene mailed a handwritten sympathy card to me. For my next pet who has a medical diagnosis, I will probably bring her/him here, because I think that Dr. Santabene has knowledge and empathy that many other vets lack.

They are empathetic when necessary starting with the front desk when you walk in. Dr. Dymun and her tech Jessica are both very good listeners. They ask owners lots of questions to help with a diagnosis. My dog gets a more thorough exam than I do at my doctor-(I'm not complaining as I really hate going to the doctor). Dr. Dymun emailed me several times to check on my pet's progress and offered suggestions to aid her recovery. It was easy to schedule an appointment and I can't complain about fees as I feel my pet received extraordinary care.

Today, 10/22/16, while shopping at Petsmart in Cranberry, PA (I am from Ohio, so I'm not even…read morelocal), I met a wonderful young lady named Gabby who was just in the store during her lunch break. Our dogs met which initiated a conversation during which she mentioned that she is a vet tech at Banfield. Upon finding out she was a vet tech, I asked her advice for a 1 lb Maltese puppy that is literally close to death because she will not eat despite me trying absolutely everything I could think of. Gabby discussed some possible things to try and did not stop there, she literally walked me over to the Royal Canin section and SHOWED me. She didn't have to do this but she went above and beyond on her own time to help me. When I got home, I got some of the food out anticipating that I was going to have to force feed her with a syringe like I've been doing in order to try and save her life. But to my absolute amazement, this pup started eating this food ALL ON HER OWN! As I type this, I am still in shock that this incredibly difficult case turned in the blink of an eye. I never would have tried this Royal Canin Starter Mousse if it weren't for Gabby. I truly cannot thank her enough. I even googled the number for this Banfield so that I could call and thank her and tell her about this baby's progress. I also bought the extra small Royal Canin dry puppy food and I'm be darned if she didn't eat some of that as well. This is truly a testament to Royal Canin as well. And Gabby, if you read this, THANK YOU for spending a good portion of your lunch time to speak with me and help me. You saved this pup's life. I truly believe that God puts us in the right place when we need it the most and while passing through Cranberry today I met you and you were truly heaven sent. You are definitely an asset to Banfield and if I lived closer, I would bring all of my dogs to this office. Thank you again! Angie Youngstown, Ohio

Treatment was expensive, but they were courteous and helped us figure out the best treatment options within our price range. Overall have found them to be pleasant to work with. Until this past year. Have had numerous issues, but the absolute worst was when we started taking my other dog. She's not a fan of the vet and needs anxiety meds to go. They didn't approve of the meds from the previous vet and wrote a new rx. So we show up and she is still stressed. Is the med not working?? Oh it's working. Only problem is that they wrote the instructions wrong, and prescribed a half dose. I was livid! What if they had made an error which increased the dose and killed my dog?!!! Let alone the wasted time and travel. They "fixed" the rx for correct quantity. However, I had to recently refill. Guess what? Her meds STILL have the wrong instructions!! This practice has definitely switched from caring about their patients to wanting money. As much as possible. They told me if I want to discuss their F*** ups, I'll have to schedule an appointment. So I have to pay, and travel to them, to discuss their horribly dangerous practices, such as leaving a controlled medication out of its lock box. Not supposed to be handled by anyone other than the vet, yet somehow front desk person found it just sitting on a shelf, unsecured. Went ahead and processed the sale without the vet. Against what they said were their own policies. I do not understand what has happened to this vet, other than greed, but I am no longer sure if it is a safe environment for my pets. They also messed with our dogs vaccinations to such an epic degree! Telling us they only did some of the vaccines that were needed. Tooo bad, so sad. They changed his vaccines so he would have to come in 5x/year instead of 1-2. Why did they do this??? Money. By only giving 6month vaccinations (and not telling us of their decision to change his routine) and changing as much as they could, they could now charge for multiple appts and vaccines. Oh, that's stressful for you and your pup? TOO BAD!! WE NEED MORE MONEY!!!! Money has changed this from a loving, caring vet, to one who screws owners and their pets so they can make quotas. Quotas. At the expense of our loved fluffy ones. Not on my watch. Never again will we return.
