I sold some gold and jewelry to PGS today. They gave me an offer of $400. I pulled out three items that I thought I might be able to get more for. They gave me $200.00 cash. I left and went to a jeweler to have two items of jewelry repaired. I asked them if they purchased jewelry. They offered me $650 for the three items that PGS was offering me $200.00 for. I feel that PGS total took advantage of me and is a total ripoff. Do not trust them. Buyer be ware!!! I do not know how they earned their BBB certification. read more

I was searching for coins store and found this place, so I asked my wife if we can stop by and she agreed. We pulled up in the parking lot and saw 2 ladies smoking outside and by the time we got out of the car the two ladies went in to the coin shop. As we are going in they buzzed us in. When we were inside there's 3 ladies in there and didn't even say anything to us, I kept on looking to see what they got and I found 2 coins that I'm interested in but didn't get any help. 1 lady is on the phone with a customer and the 2 ladies were eating and didn't even say anything to us and we are the only customer in the shop. There is no customer service at all we were there for 20 minutes at least. When we were in the car, my wife asked me if the other coin shops I go to are all like that. I said no. This is the worst coin shop I've ever been In. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. Or maybe we are just different race. If I can give zero star. I definitely recommend PGS Gold & Coin - I went to the Schaumburg location and Estelle and Mary were very friendly and extremely helpful. I had a bag full of random coins, silver and tokens - much of which was inherited from my husbands uncle so we knew nothing about its value or if it was of value. Mary and Estelle were both so good about going threw each piece and explaining to me what I had and what kind of value it had. I learned from the experience and made a little money. They both ended up helping me and took their time to look at everything thoroughly. I feel I got a fair value for the items I brought in and I felt safe and at ease while handling the whole process. They have high prices and give terrible offers when you try to sell to them, seems like they are preying on the ignorant! At the time of this review gold spot is at $1,904 they offered me $1,700 for a one ounce AGE other dealers are paying as much as $40 over spot! There offer is absurd, they are truly taking advantage of people. So I asked what they pay for gold jewelry to wich they responded 70% of it's melt value wich is the lowest I've been quoted, most dealers pay 85-90% of melt value. My recommendation is to stay far away from this place, give honest dealers your business not these greety snakes! read more

I just happened to have a little bag of jewelry I didn't want anymore and wanted to sell in my purse when I happened to spot this store on my way to the bank. I had noticed that my usual gold and coin store was no longer in business after I had been away for a while and I was actually hoping to find another store that I liked and trusted as well, so I decided to stop in after my errand. The first thing I liked was that they keep the door locked and you have to be buzzed in. The owner, Sue was delightful and she didn't mind at all that I had my little dog with me! I gave her my jewelry and we had a lovely conversation while she looked it over and tested anything she wasn't sure of. She actually took everything except one little thing, too. Frankly, most gold and coin stores give me the creeps and I thought it would take me FOREVER to find another I liked and trusted as much as my old one. I can't believe I just happened to notice this store on my way to the bank, I think it was fate! I already have another little bag of stuff to bring to Sue.
