Luckily I found this place when I worked nearby and would often pop in to grab fillets for dinner. Now I make a special trip because like I said, this kind of place is RARE AS, as my son would say. The owners are absolutely lovely and you get that warm community feel of a proper local fishmonger who greets you with a smile on arrival and wishes you a good day when you leave. They also often tuck in a lemon for me and it's those little things that make all the difference. The fish is fresh as can be and not priced at the rip-off rates of some other places I could mention. It's really important to support these small but perfectly formed businesses so give it a go next time you are going to treat yourself (because let's face it, fish is never going to be the cheap staple it should be) to a fish dinner, come here.

I considered calling it quits and heading somewhere else but decided to wait it out. Surprisingly, the wait was only about 15 minutes, which I thought was very well done on the shop's behalf! My order of a piece of fish, chips, a Hawaiian burger and four won tons came to only $15! And it all tasted reasonably good apart from the won tons, which were more on the average side of things. Back to the oysters, some in my household like them a la natural even with a squeeze of lemon; I like to make a simple batter and quickly fry them. Excellent served with a salad. I'm glad I pass by this fish shop regularly on my way home from work because this is where you are guaranteed fresh when it comes to seafood. These guys have a massive warehouse behind the shop and they supply fresh and frozen takeaways, cafes and restaurants around our fair city of Auckland.

The flowers from Boudicca are reasonably priced and I have found let quite well - not Vida Flores but pretty good. They also offer other services - knife sharpening once a month and the kitchen utensils area is always a diversion. Overall a good place to visit when the self control button is fully pushed in

Then it was our turn in the classroom where we tried our hand at Smashed pea Tortellini, seafood broth and created two great fish dishes. These were definitely something you could recreate at home. Then you get to enjoy the fruits of your labour at a shared dining. This was a Special Winter rate and excellent value for money. I think even worth paying the full $85 price tag.
