However on a past weekday I stopped in with a friend and the both of us received the most painful "hot stone" massages. They offer hot stone but the stones were not hot or warm. I could hear my spa guy juggling stones in his hands prior to applying them on my clothed back. For the increase in cost for the stones the services were laughable. Worst was that both spa employees had colds which were noticeable only after we started the massage. Because as they worked, both were sniffling and trying to clear their nasal passages. It def gave some nervousness given the status of the pandemic. I wish they had told us prior, could have visited a different day or asked them to go get some cold medication prior to starting our appointments. Didn't help that the facial cushion was topped with coarse paper towel rather than a hygienic, moisture barrier wrap. As seen in regular massage spas. I doubt returning. After a quick conversation where we covered what I was looking for, she customized the 90 minutes to be the perfect combination of relaxing and therapeutic. I had all my knots and tension worked out without feeling like I had gotten beat up. She also gave the right amount of communication throughout the massage: attentive without being intrusive to the experience. The room itself wasn't mind-blowing, but I couldn't care less when my eyes are closed for 95% of my time spent there. I also liked the fact that she used grapeseed oil for the massage. I use that at home myself--it's amazing for the skin, and far better than the more popular pore-clogging alternatives. I wish I could've bought ten Groupons to see her. Mary, the owner was very helpful in giving me several times and dates available and I ended up booking my massage for the same day. The massage room is very peaceful and has nice soothing music playing. One suggestion would be a hook or hangers for hanging up clothes but a chair is provided. Mary was very attentive and asked about the temperature, comfort of the face cradle and pressure of the massage. I've had many massages in the past and this was one of the best. It was extremely relaxing, especially the scalp massage. Mary told me exactly what she was going to do to make sure I was comfortable. I really appreciated that she washed the oil off her hands before the scalp massage so that I was able to go back to work without greasy hair. The pressure was just right, not painful but definitely worked on any tight muscles. It was a full 60 minutes and so relaxing. Mary offers several different massages and she suggested a combination massage on the feet with essential oils and scalp massage. I booked a second appointment and was given a $25 gift certificate to use at my next visit. I originally bought this for convenience but was pleasantly surprised by how excellent the service was and will now go back because of the quality.
