I have been coming to Phantastic Nails for about 9 years. Trung, Trang, and Liz have all taken great care of me over the years. I recommend all of them. I went in over the weekend to get a shellac mani. While I was there two elderly ladies called and cancelled their appointments. One cancelled because she fell, Liz said that Trung offered to go to her house to do her nails if she wanted. How sweet is that?! Going above and beyond for their customers. I know that Liz takes extra time with clients that need extra time. If you have a physical disability, that doesn't matter to anyone at Phantastic, they'll do your nails and will not turn you away. I highly recommend this salon. Great quality for years. They're all sweet and you'll leave feeling like family. read more

Since going to this nail place, I've gone to three others, and these are the things I have discovered: (1) All non-salons are kind of messy and classless (2) The service is going to be hit or miss anywhere (3) The only important thing in these quick, cheap nail places is how good the manicure is So I have to take my two stars back. I'm so sorry, Phantastic Nails! If I'd known then when I know now, I never would've given you two stars. Your manicures are really great. I went back, and they did such a good job again. They even had the Travel Channel on instead of SpongeBob. I just did shape and color (shellac), and it cost $20 instead of $30 for the full manicure. I will say, though, that their shellac color selection leaves something to be desired. read more

Poor customer service. Called to make an appointment for an mani & pedi. However, I was instructed to just come in at that moment. Which was fine, I came in only to be told she did not have time to soak my nails off in order for them to be done. Waste of time and gas. She was not apologetic and didn't bother to offer me an appointment for another day. read more

Me & my boyfriend brought our moms here for Mother's day & I couldn't be happier. They had manicures, pedicures and me & my mom got a full set. I feel like I finally found a good nail shop after all of my horrible experiences with so called highly rated shops in Kalamazoo. We all loved our nails, the quality of work was excellent, the nail techs were friendly, and the pricing was awesome! Mom and I show up to have nails done for Mother's day. Made the appointment for 3:30. They wrote the appointment down wrong and we were turned away quite rudely. How would we even had our nails done when there was only 1 person working? Thanks a lot - spoiled my Mother's day gift. read more

We had an appointment and I asked if I could add a pedicure and was told we didn't plan on doing a pedicure so...basically it was a no. I thought that was weird since usually nail salons always try to get you to add on more and more. Nails never really dried and my manicurist never removed extra paint around my fingers and cuticles. read more

I went to get my nails done. They only charge 25.00 for a full set. However its dirty, unprofessional there and they don't do airbrush. The girl was doing a pedicure and I was hoping she washed her hand after she just got done touching someone's nasty feet. So after waiting a half hour to be waited on I checked out the place. Both the girl and guy that was in there were on their cell phones and was not focused on the customers. The girl at the desk just sat there and watched TV the whole time. Which I think she needed to get off her butt and mopped the floor or something. I won't return there. If the reviews I am reading say its much of improvement.. it must've been really bad before. Because its bad now. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I should've left after seeing how dirty it was. read more

Been several times and always very happy with the result! Only problem is you definitely need an appointment ahead of time, a day or so if you want it to really be of your choosing which to me is another sign of how good their work is! Also very clean which for me is super important! read more

LIZ gave me a manicure the other day and it was the best one I've ever had!!!! She was / is FANTASTIC! I have been getting manicures every other week for years at one of the other local nail places and was satisfied but began having problems with my nails breaking way down close to the base. My partner and I went there today, her for a mani-pedi and me for a simple manicure no polish. She had a woman named Liz who did a spectacular job, earning the two stars. My experience was nearly a zero star. I had someone named Maria who was texting when I came in and seemingly reluctantly did my nails. No hello or greeting of any kind until I greeted her. Then she proceeded to do the worst manicure I've ever had. My nails were very, very uneven, debris from the filing under my nails, several hang nails left on and no buffing so my nails were completely dull. She got up in what I thought was the middle of the manicure and went over and began working on another woman's eyebrows or lashes. I waited patiently for her to come and finish (she had not said a word when she got up) and then after ten or fifteen minutes she brought the woman to another station and began working on her nails. I then asked if she was going to finish mine to which she replied; "you're done." I was shocked and asked if she was at least going to buff my nails, she never replied. I said I will never come back here again and who do I pay. She finally got up to take my money. I left and as I ran errands realized my nails were even worse than I thought when I first left. I was disgusted. When I returned to pick up my partner I asked for the owner/manager and was guided outside to talk by him. I explained what had occurred and he said he would fix my nails. He did; sort of. He evened them out, clipped off the hang nails, told me to go wash my hands and then went back to what he had been doing. I guess you're supposed to 'divine" when you're done there and know that when they tell you to go wash your hands you're done. I found out that the owner doesn't own buffing equipment and apparently they expect to cover their inferior work with polish. Again, the two stars were earned by Liz and Liz alone. She did a very nice job on Stephanie's nails. Also, the tables were dirty and in dire need of cleaning and when I put my hands on the tables I thought the black pad had little dots of white showing through from wear only to find that it was debris from the last persons nails. The bottle of solution that Maria put on my cuticles had a tip (that touches your nails) so filthy I cringed when I saw it. If another nice salon in Kalamazoo or Portage is looking for a quality manicurist you might try and snag Liz. Very disappointing. read more
