Awesome donuts! We got there kind of late for a Sunday (around 11am) and they only had two options left: glazed cake and jelly filled. Traditionally I would never get either of those options, but both were great. Plotting my next trip back to St. Louis so I can get more. Excellent donuts. The raised glazed plain donut is one of the best I've ever had. Nice and light, good flavor, neither too sweet nor not sweet enough. The long John was excellent, too. We grabbed a variety to try. The raised donuts are the stand outs. The cake donuts had good flavor, no complaints, but the raised donuts are too good to pass up. We came in relatively late on a weekday (around 11am) and the server was very helpful walking through every option available to us for our baker's dozen. There weren't a ton of options ("a lot of people wanted donuts today") but they didn't need too many. If you do something really well, you just don't need the variety. read more

If you're hungover on a Saturday morning and looking for this place without any guidance you might miss it. Look for the placard on the street. It's across from this Chinese restaurant I forgot to Yelp about and it's also past Subway (I'm sorry, I'm horrible with directions). Walking in, you'll probably be somewhat confused because your nose says DONUTS but the store doesn't necessarily scream it. Behind the counter is a friendly gentlemen ringing up customers and in the back is a man making fresh donuts. Uneffingbelieveable. I base everything on glazed donuts. Why? Cuz if you eff up on glazed donuts then you're donezo. It was warm, fresh, and heavenly. Compared to Krispy, if I may, it's not as "airy" or fluffy. It definitely had some sustenance. I never would have found this place without Yelp! An unapologetic hole-in-the-wall, I love that all of the effort goes into the donuts. I was nervous at first (the interior is a bit off-putting) but the "A" health rating set my nerves at ease. The service was warm, friendly and prompt and the donuts were out of this world. Old-fashioned, not fussy, and down-right delicious. It was hard to decide what to get but my favorite ended up being the chocolate glazed. Highly recommend! read more

First off, I would like to thank Pharaoh's donuts for supplying our Yelp Elite event buzzed and brewed today! The donuts were made fresh for us and they were absolutely delicious. I did not get the pleasure of trying all of them but I tried just the simple glazed donut and it was perfect. Pharaoh's Donuts is definitely the best donut shop in St. Louis. I stand by my past review. I absolutely love their blueberry cake donut, their red velvet cake donut, and their crumb cake donut. They are amazing when they are fresh, and they do melt in your mouth, as indicated in someone else's review. They have wonnderful flavor, and they are the perfect sweetness. The cinnamon roll is hand's down the best cinnamon roll ever, especially when it is hot. When I was there last week, I actually was fortunate enough to get a cinnamon roll that literally was just glazed and was so warm. It was the greatest $2.09 that I have ever spent in my entire life. It was the perfect temperature, sweetness, texture, and taste--100% perfect. They moved to 9th Street, and the space is nice. The only "downside" is that you don't smell the donuts outside anymore like you did at the old location. That is probably a good thing because I would be tempted to go even more often than I do already. If you live nearby, definitely check it out. If you live elsewhere in the city, definitely check it out. read more

I didn't plan on getting donuts this morning, yet here I am writing a review about some delicious donuts I just finished. While walking to my conference, I started seeing people with boxes of donuts and it peaked my interest. "Donuts? I could probably do some donuts" as I thought to myself during the walk. I pulled up my phone and opened Google Maps and typed in donuts nearby and low and behold, Pharoah's Donuts was less than a block away. I guess I'm getting a donut or two. I walk into the donut shop and it's a bit dated and it is definitely a hole in the wall joint but there were plenty of people in line and some walking out with donuts in hand. The selection of less than expected (at 9am) as they were already selling out of some really delicious donuts and had no plans of making new ones. The guy in front of my got the very last chocolate iced, glazed cinnamon roll topped with almonds and coconuts...I WANTED THAT!!! I asked the girl if I could wait while she made me one, but she said they didn't have any more wet cinnamon rolls to do it with. Man that was disappointing. I ended up getting the regular iced cinnamon roll donut and the apple fritter. The apple fritter was still warm which is my favorite part of fresh donuts, because it's warm and super soft. Oh man was the flavor there...I downed that thing like I hadn't eaten in a week. Now onto the cinnamon roll donut. Don't be fooled. It looks like a cinnamon roll BUT it has the soft texture of a freshly made donut. Oh man did this hit the spot. I can't rave any more about this donut as I'm getting hungry just thinking about having another one. The only thing that would make this 5 stars is fresh hand made hot donuts as they come out of the fryer for the basics like glaze and iced donuts. I'm in town visiting and saw other's yelp reviews for Pharoah's Donuts so I decided to give it a shot - I'm SO glad I did!! As a visitor, I had to use my maps to walk to the shop but I could tell I was getting close when I smelled the overwhelmingly wonderful scent of donuts coming from nearby. It drowned out any and all city smell and lured me straight in! From the outside, the building isn't much. A dull brown with a simple Pharaohs Donuts sign on the side. The entrance and inside is much of the same. I followed the donut smell through a plain looking door and peeked inside. One of the staff welcomed me right in and assured me I was in the right place! The staff were all extremely friendly and chatted with me while I selected two donuts - original glazed and strawberry. There were many options to choose from though! I'd estimate around 10-15 different and unique options: regular donuts, cake donuts, jelly/cream filled, and twisty donuts. My original glazed donut was magnificent. Simplicity is the way to go here! The dough speaks for itself - light, airy, fluffy and not at all too sweet or buttery. The glaze is sweet yet subtle and offers a great finish on the donut. I would absolutely buy the original glazed over and over again. The strawberry was much of the same - a beautifully crafted dough and a sweet strawberry glaze on top. The strawberry glaze was a bit thicker and reminiscent of a typical glaze you'd see at other donut shops. However, the donut dough amplified the taste. Overall, great experience and I would certainly go back! I'll make it a stop every time I'm in St. Louis! Happy munching donut lovers! read more

Came here because I was in town and craving donuts. You can easily walk by this place, as there's no real signage, except for a small one. Just let the smell of the donuts guide you. Once inside, I was rather confused - was I in the right place?! The interior is dark and drab, but once you walk in, you see the donuts being made right in front of you, which should boost your spirits. I wasn't impressed with the selection, but settled on a Long John. It was delicious! The staff was friendly and helpful. I think some curb appeal would make Pharoah's stand out in the crowd and reel in more out-of-town customers, such as myself. read more

One of the best cake donuts I've ever had! I had the Blueberry Glazed. Super moist and packed full of flavor. Not too sweet, not too greasy, perfect! Wish we were in town longer to try more flavors. Note--not a place to go sit and have breakfast as the ambiance is not that of a restaurant with very limited seating. Tucked away on the corner of the street, so easy to miss if you aren't walking. Totally unassuming from the outside, but this is one of my favorite donut places in St Louis! Everything is made right there and served by the nicest people. Give me a good glazed donut and I'm all set! Pharaoh's glazed donuts is A-mazing!! melts in your mouth!! Especially if you eat it there and it still all warm. I have worked in St. Louis for quite a few years, yet can't remember getting donuts from Pharoah's before. I still have not been to their location, physically, but had a birthday celebration at work with a smorgasbord of donuts from this establishment. I think they had more donuts than they could display in store. As far as the taste and quality of the product, it was simply amazing. It looks like every one was hand-crafted. They were not small. At all. I am a big sour cream donut fan and Pharoah's did not disappoint. They don't overdue the icing and I love icing, but the taste of the dough itself was unbelievable and I forgot it even had icing. If you have a chance to get donuts from here, do it. Other reviews seem to indicate that they may not have a lot on display. I tend to think they do a lot of bulk orders and don't always have everything on the menu prepared at all times. That being said, you need to try these if you like donuts. You will not go away unhappy. (Even the plain glazed donuts are a masterpiece to consume.) read more

If you're in a 3 block radius of Pharaoh's Donuts, your nose will bring you the rest of the way. A no-frills walk up counter, donuts and coffee on the menu, and the donut machine is right behind a pony wall for your viewing pleasure (kids will most likely get a kick out of seeing the donuts being made.) I ordered the Lemon Topper although none were for sale in the display window. No problem, said the man behind the counter, and made one fresh for me. This donut was still hot when it was handed to me, plump, covered in sugar, smelling like heaven, with a big ole dollop of sweet lemon curd on top. As soon as I took a bite the fluffy donut collapsed -- I should say melted -- in my mouth. I barely had to chew before it was gone, leaving a tart/sweet aftertaste. Super welcoming and friendly service! We stopped by at the end of their work day, but they were chipper and happy we came in. I have had mostly positive experiences. But I'm pretty upset right now. I ordered from Pharoah's at 645 AM. I literally didn't receive a single donut that I requested outside of glazed. It's not later in the day so I can't imagine your stock would be wiped out. No one contacted me about replacements. I would be more understanding if it was later in the day. But with all due respect, I find this ridiculous. I didn't pay to not receive a single thing I requested or to not be contacted. I won't be ordering again. I will only buy from them unless I can personally confirm the order. Which will be never because I don't live downtown and the pandemic obviously prevents this as well. I want to support black owned business but I don't have the money to gamble over donuts. read more
