    Beautiful treats in the case
    Jo Nell R.

I know it sounds strange to go to the bakery of an award-winning pastry chef/ baker and get the Roast Beef sandwich, but there it is. I love this sandwich! Roast Beef, horseradish aioli, white cheddar, red onion on a poppy seed challah, oh my. On this day, they had something on the sweet side that caught my eye, a blueberry cream cheese Danish. I am always drawn to blueberry so I couldn't pass it up. I am not much of a sweet eater, hence the Roast Beef sandwich love but every once in a while, there is a sweet treat that I really love and this was one of those times! It was sweet, flaky, and delicious! I had a taste in the car and would have had another 1/4 after the sandwich but I ate the whole thing, I just couldn't stop. I hope they do and hope they don't have this more often!

I had some croissants, chocolate croissants, and almond croissants from Nathaniel Reid - super good! The almond croissant was my favorite, and I'm not even a big almond croissant person! The chocolate didn't blow me away, but my son loved the regular butter croissant! My only qualm is that I wish there was a spot to eat and enjoy your items at the bakery vs having to take everything to go. Hopefully they can expand one day! Or even want to!

Seriously, Five Stars is not enough for Nathaniel Reid Bakery. I'd give them a 10 Star rating if I could. The shop is pristine. The display cases are filled with works of art, that taste delicious. The staff is cheerful, friendly and all of them dressed in uniforms gives a feeling of professionalism. I enjoyed a Smoked Ham and Gruyere Croissant and a black coffee in house. I was to have a seat at the counter in their front window and relax while my dogs were at the doggie spa up the street. The croissant was super-super flakey and the smoked ham paired beautifully with the gruyere cheese. I couldn't come to NRB and not take home a couple of sweet treats. My favorite treat was the Raspberry Lemon Financier. It was so good the next morning with my home brewed coffee. Then that evening I enjoyed a Lemon Cake whose name I cannot recall. It exceeded moistness and the strong lemon flavor was just what I like. In addition to my treats, I got a Chocolate Chip Pecan Cookie for my fur-babies pet stylist as part of her tip. My only dislike and it's minor, is that they serve Kaldi's Coffee. I'm glad they are supporting another local small business, but I am not a fan of their product. Typically when I know a cafe serves Kaldi's, I pass on the coffee, but I made an exception here.

I'd heard great things about this bakery for its authentic French flavors and long lines, so I tried the Roast Beef Sandwich, Smoked Pork Sandwich, Four Cheese Honey Focaccia, and Chocolate Almond Croissant. I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful everything was. The sandwich bread was expertly crafted, soft without being tough, making it easy to chew. The pastries stood out as well, with a rich cheesiness and chocolatey sweetness that felt unique. Service was efficient with multiple staff members assisting customers. The place also has limited window seating available for dining.

Place is busy...get there with time on your hands!

This placed rocked; it's busy and there is small window, bar seating, so eating in can be challenge. Great service, fantastic desserts, the roasted turkey croissant was amazing...fresh, flaky croissant and a nice stack of fresh Turkey. A bit disappointed in the quiche, it looked awesome but was ever so slightly undercooked. The bakery goods and desserts are the definite hit...throw in some great coffee or an americano, heck even the iced tea was fresh and good. I dig this place...giving it a 4 star, but really would rate it 4.5 if there was such a thing.

Was visiting a friend who lives here who raves about Nathaniel Reid's kouign amann- and he did not lie. This is maybe one of the best I've ever had. Worth a trip for this alone. Everything else I tried was good or okay. The honey cheese focaccia (good balance of sweet and savory and very fluffy), orange almond cake (a little dense but loved the passionfruit glaze), and the Caia cake (pretty). Line is long but moves quickly. We had about a 10 min wait on a Saturday morning which is not bad at all. Some seating by the windows, but def a more grab and go type spot.

Day before Christmas, line out the door, and yet everybody just strapped in and waited! This bakery is that good. I came in thinking I'd buy one thing and left with a box, sweet and savory both. Of what I've tried so far, it's hard to pick a favorite. The smoked pork sandwich was on a soft, salty focaccia-type bread. Plenty of pork and slaw. It disappeared very rapidly. I then chased it with an Americano and chocolate croissant. What to say about this croissant? Probably the flakiest I've ever eaten. Not even all that much chocolate, but just enough to keep you digging in. Nothing overdone about it. I'll be back!

Read about this place when I was doing research and everyone on Reddit was recommending this place. Came here on a Thursday afternoon and walked out with $120 worth of goodies. The store is fairly small and there are lots of people there but the line moves fairly quickly. I got one of each cake, croissants, and some of the chocolates / goodies they sell on the side. The honey focaccia was good - light and fluffy - more cheesy than honey, I actually wish it was a touch sweeter. The chocolate croissant is probably the best I've ever had - better than the ones I had in Paris. It's pillowy soft and insanely flakey and perfect amount of sweetness. My friend said his savory croissant was life changing. I am going to grab a box and take it home to California with me - that's how good the chocolate croissant is.

Still the best pastry shop in the metro area! They're quick and efficient and the employees are pleasant to deal with. It's a very small storefront that can get kind of crowded, but they seem to have it down as far as getting people what they would like. I particularly enjoy their chocolate croissants. They also have a Waldorf chicken salad, croissant sandwich. That is quite good..

There's no better bakery in this area for unique and delicious pastries. Went in for a dessert for a dinner we were hosting and walked out with enough pastry delight to take us into the next day. Hands down Jarmo is my favorite. No matter what time of year you by then the raspberries are perfect! Amazing! The quiche are the true French quiche and the four geese is my favorite. Service is outstanding. Every item in the display case is elegantly displayed. Glad to see they are expanding.

Finally, I came all the way from California visit St. Louis again. On of my list for this short trip is to visit Nathaniel Reid bakery because I heard so much of them. I was not disappointed at all. They are super busy even on a Wednesday. We had turkey and cheese croissants and bacon and cheese quiche. Both are delicious! It's flaky and very fresh! Their staff is top notch and the bakery is super clean and organized. There's so many goodies in their showcases and we bought so many items.... Will eat it for the next few days. Btw, I noticed there are so many awards on the wall, all over the bakery... so impressive! I wish they had something like this in Orange County/California. I would go there everyday... so glad I went today and had a great experience. Definitely will go back when we're in town again.

I feel very fancy right now. Greyere, yellow cheddar, Havarti, and Parmesan cheese, baked into this buttery crust is now floating around in my belly. You would feel fancy too. This is Nathaniel Reid bakery's four cheese quiche. We didn't stop there. We got a chocolate chip and pecan cookie and several macaroons. Two-time James Beard Awards semifinalist for Outstanding Baker (2019 and 2020). Sign yourself up and check this spot out. Also, as soon as you walk in the door, everyone behind the counter is greeting you. It's so nice to feel so welcome.

They are using a Square terminal, and Square accepts Apple Pay. I'm pretty certain it would work.

Hi! What are some gluten free options at the bakery? Thanks!!

They have French macarons and meringues, they may still have the pavlova but would need to confirm.

I honestly don't think there's a better cheesecake shop that I've encountered anywhere in my travels. The staff is generally very helpful and welcoming, with Lindsy in particular being a consistent standout at the front register over the years. I've been a loyal customer for a long time and have easily spent thousands of dollars on Hank's cheesecakes for both personal celebrations and professional events. The product itself has always been worth every penny. That said, I was disappointed to learn of the new policy charging $2 simply to slice a cheesecake. When purchasing a $25-$400+ cheesecake, an additional fee for a task that takes roughly 20 seconds feels unnecessary and, frankly, a bit off-putting. While I understand that rising costs are impacting businesses everywhere, this type of nickel-and-diming can feel discouraging--especially to long-standing, repeat customers who have consistently supported the business. Hank's Cheesecake remains exceptional, and the product is second to none. I hope management reconsiders this policy, as it slightly detracts from what has otherwise been an outstanding customer experience for many loyal patrons.

Well, I guess it's not really $10 worth of ice cream. Certainly, it's not $10 worth of ice cream by 1990s standards. Once, I could go get an entire tub of Schnucks store-brand mint chocolate chip with weirdly strong artificial flavoring (arguably the GOAT ice cream) with the change found between the seat cushions in the station wagon I used to drive. You'd die trying to eat $10 worth of that. Eventually, you might die eating Clementine's. It'll run you, but you get a lot of calories for your dollar. It might even be a good value, depending on how you look at it. They pack it into those little tubs, too. No Diddy. They fill the tub and then they pile it high on top. It's the ol' Five Guys strategy of charging you money out the ass and then giving you more food than you require, as if they're doing you a favor. Uh, thanks? All of the flavors I had were really good, but they were incredibly rich, to the point where after a while they get to be a bit much. They had a mouthfeel almost more along the lines of butter than the cheap ice cream I should be buying (I've been known to eat soft serve from QT), and I'm assuming that's because they have a nutritional profile that's not altogether different. As one of the girls from my running group pointed out, after a while the flavors all kinda run together. Part of it's that they actually melt into each other, and part of it's I'm sure just palette fatigue. I went with three scoops. The ideal order here might be two: enough that you don't feel ripped off, or that you came a long way for nothing, but not so much that you somehow develop delayed onset lactose intolerance in your 40s. Of the three flavors that I had, I liked the Salted Caramel Cookies + Cream, Heritage Mint Chip and Gooey Butter Cake, in that order. But you really can't go wrong with any of those. The Gooey Butter Cake is their signature, but I'm a mint chip brother, as previously discussed. The Salted Caramel Cookies + Cream might be their top flavor. It was my favorite of the ones that I tried, and a girl from our group whose opinion I trust said it's the best.
