A wonderful place to go to sit in the shade under of one of their huge oak trees and sip a glass of wine. They have plenty of picnic outside, in the shade and grass. They have a great selection of wines and have a nice tasting option. I enjoy their Cabernet franc the most. They offer several options for beer and non-alcoholic beverages for those who do not prefer to partake in wine. They sell several options for snacks. One of the special aspects of this winery, different from most, is they host local plays in their theater, as well as local musicians, so check their website for upcoming shows. read more

Naomi explained every wine and all were so good we bought almost a case of the different types! You almost feel at home in this place and the prices don't empty your wallet unless you get crazy like we did! So relaxing and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Perhaps not the best wine of all we've had that is made in this part of Oregon, but definitely among the friendliest people. Also a beautiful setting and while the tasting room is small and awkward to access now, they are working on what looked to be spectacular expansion plans. Still, tough to give a winery four stars unless the wine is deserving, and while we'd award four for effort, for outcome of wine maybe only three. Of the couple of whites and three or four reds we tasted, we purchased a bottle of the Mystere. A blended red that we thought was pretty darned drinkable. However, at about $20 / bottle this is more than we'd expect to pay for, frankly, better lower end wines both domestic and imported at a retail location. But buying a bottle from a tasting room strikes us as both a thank you to them for making the tasting available when there is no tasting fee (we were not charged here) and also as a means to support local agricultural efforts, which wine making is part of. Hours are limited here (something like 12:00 - 4:00 pm) and only a few days a week. We simply stumbled upon Grizzly Peak a couple of weeks ago when we had a hour to kill before picking up a car at a nearby dealership. Not sure this is worth a "destination winery" designation for travels, but if you have time and are in the area when they are open, the people are so nice and the setting is so lovely, it is worth the stop. read more

The ground are nice. Pretty area. The wind is always bad, which I find to get old when you are trying to hold everything down on your table the entire time. We were put off by the $30 tasting for 2 people. They don't have a single person option. Not for the price but for not being able to get less. The wines were hit or miss for us. It might not have been the style we like. We have all been around wine a lot and we didn't find it to be something we loved. The reds were pretty good, but again just might not have been for us. Grizzly Peak Winery We tried to visit a different neighbor winery but they do not allow minors on premise. Here at Grizzly, my kids could sit in the pretty terrasse shaded by a vine covered arbor trellis and hang out with us. This place have large enough grounds to hold Summer outdoor concerts. I heard they also offer bed and breakfast $7 to taste 4 reds is a great deal. We purchased the 2013 Tempranillo $28. It has deep flavors; made with Spanish grapes which we do not see in Cali. Worth mentioning is the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon $30, was also very tasty. read more

We attended their evening musical event Friday. Although we did not stay long, the music was great & the food truck was good too. We left because the wearing of masks & social distancing was not being observed . When I asked staff about this, I was told "oh, we don't do that". We left. Our group has attended the Friday evening music events for the entire summer. The staff are very conscientious about customers wearing masks when they enter and are up and walking around. Hand sanitizer is at the entrance, in the bathrooms and at the wine serving booth. The tables are spaced very far apart with fewer chairs. Everyone is asked to stay away from the band and to keep 6 feet from all others who are outside your party. We all felt very safe, so we came back every friday. Beautiful venue! Great staff. Great wine. Great service. The food trucks are always good. It was always reservation only to limit capacity. The Staff always emailed right back to assure you, you had a reservation. Very accommodating. It actually felt like the good old days, when it was safe to be outside dancing!! Thank you Grizzly Peak Winery!! read more

Our family drove up to Ashland for a weekend trip. We went to Grizzly Peak for the evening. What a beautiful place! There were plenty of parking. It is definitely an ideal place for a wedding, big or small. A local band was playing when we were there. They were excellent. There were enough people in town attended that we thought down town must be empty at that point. Our two year old had a blast from running up and down the hill, dancing the night away to going to the artsy tasting room to go to the bathroom. The sound travelled well. We were down near the creek and we could hear the music just as well as being in front near the band. I don't know much about wine, but everyone drank plenty of it so it must be decent. Highly recommend as a pair visit the morning after a Shakespeare play. read more

We visited this lovely winery on Saturday. What a beautiful drive in. We tried a flight and enjoyed there wines. Naomi was so friendly and taught us all about the different wines. We like the 2012 Pinot Gris and 2011 Malbec so much we just had to buy a bottle of each. I am looking forward to visiting another time and going down by the river and enjoying a nice afternoon and a bottle of Pinot Gris on a cooler summer day. So nice to have such a wonderful place as a neighbor. Love to support a local business. read more

I can't recommend this winery enough. My friend and I visited on a Saturday. We enjoyed a flight of 7 wines with a chocolate to compliment it, which was a nice touch. We sat outside on the patio on a beautiful 80 degree day. What a perfect time. The best part of this winery is the staff and owners who we were lucky enough to sit and chat with for a bit. They are warm and inviting and make me want to rave to everyone I know about this winery. As for the wine I specifically enjoyed the Pinot which I had to get a couple of bottles of on the way out. On a side note it is a beautiful location for weddings, and they are expanding to build a second building to accommodate events. Go visit. It is a short drive from downtown and absolutely worth your time! read more

Great wines, excellent staff (Naomi was awesome, extremely helpful & friendly), fun tasting room, and spacious, beautiful grounds. We were with our dog & they get extra points for being dog-friendly! Walked away with a Pinot Gris & a Syrah Rose -- hard to stick to just 2 bottles. We liked them all, the Pinot Noir was especially good as well (plus the taste came with chocolate!) Something here for every taste. A bit off the beaten path, but be sure to check it out when in the area. read more

We moved from Ashland four years ago. We miss visiting Al, Virginia and Naomi very much. Terrific people and out standing wines.

Grizzly Peak Winery released its first wines in 2006. They grow 11 varietals on site, including Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, and Pinot Gris. The winery is just a few minutes from downtown Ashland, and the staff is friendly and aims to please. There's no charge for wine flights in their tasting room, and the attractive grounds, with great views of Mount Ashland and Grizzly Peak, are available for picnicking by visitors. There's plenty of parking, and the winery is a popular site for weddings. We're saving the fifth star for their completion of a new tasting room, which promises to be very inviting and comfortable. Currently, they're open Thursday through Sunday, from noon until four. read more

Not only is the venue extremely gorgeous for a romantic, evening wedding, but the wine was fantastic and I was very pleased with the flexibility of the winery. The owners were easy to work with throughout the planning process, and were extremely helpful the day of the wedding. I felt that the cost of the venue was well worth it!! One of my very favorite wineries in Southern Oregon. I love everything about Grizzly Peak Winery: The owners, the staff, the grounds, the tasting rooms and, of course, the wines. Summers at Grizzly Peak Winery are always a delight with outdoor concerts, the best food trucks and, of course, wine. I was super impressed how the winery orchestrated their summer concert series during the pandemic: Tables were spaced way beyond six feet, the dance floor was moved to behind the band, masks were required when walking around (but not when eating or drinking), and the ordering station had been re-designed for even greater protection. Well done Grizzly Peak. Thank you for bringing joy to what would have otherwise been a very boring summer. read more

Grizzly Peak Winery is a perfect venue. The grounds are spacious and lovely and the wine delicious. COVID has been a challenging time and Grizzly Peak is the one place friends and I felt comfortable gathering publicly at the Friday evening concert series. There is so much room to space yourself away from other attendees, tables always far more than 6' apart and all staff wear masks. There is plenty of room to dance as far away from others to meet your comfort level. My friends and I are grateful for the kind hospitality of Virginia and her crew and for providing a safe venue that was the highlight of our COVID summer. read more

Visiting Grizzly Peak Winery was a great experience. Situated on gently rolling hills just outside of Ashland, Oregon this winery has been growing for more than a dozen years. Greeted by one of the owners, we had a tour of the property to understand how it has evolved over the years with a look at what their vision is for the future. Not ony to they make award winning wines which we tasted and enjoyed ( and the purchased because we enjoyed them and knew we would like to serve them to our friends at home in the Bay Area) but they have event spaces and now a few overnight rooms for guests who so enjoy the wines at these events that they would rather not drive home. By the way the owners Virgina and Al Silbowitz are smart, friendly people who know their business, that of making wine and making guests feel at home. Enough of their family members are involved with the winery at this point to make it a "family business". One can see that it features care and pride as well as great wines, now with a series using labels made especially for the winers by long time friend and artist David Lance Goines. I think that anyone going to Ashland or as we were, traveling to points further north, should make a spacial stop to visit Al and Virginia and family at Grizzly Peak Winery. It is slightly off the beaten track but easy enough to find if you Google it and call ahead. And if you are planning a wedding, Bat Mitvah or other festive event consider their beautiful winery as a venue. read more

another trip to beautiful ashland finds me again at grizzly peak winery!! with owners virginia and al, and tasting room manager naomi....they have been winning many awards over the past year and i was fortunate enough to be able to taste some of the winners. their cab franc won best of the northwest and it is absolutely lovely....it reminds me of prince's purple rain....beautiful, rich, cherry n leather...oh my!! the pinot is elegant w beautiful color and bright fruit...wonderful finish!! and my fave, is their malbec, which has such a fruit forward nose and lingers long on the palate with spice....ahhh.... do yourself a favor and visit the grizzly peak winery....you will have a great experience!!! read more
