Beautiful full sloes, Super Prime on a pair of Vintage Fry's.....
    Ernie S.

Outstanding, 5 stars all the way! I took in 2 pairs of boots, a vintage pair of Fry's and a terrific high quality pair of cowboy boots. Full Soles. Great price, and done 2 days early! And the work? Carl has been doing this for 40 years and is a master. Absolutely flawless, and you deal with the owner here!! I cannot say enough. Why spend $75-100 dollars for a full prime sole? In addition, the boots come back cleaned and refreshed. Beautiful.......... Boots, Sandals, Luggage, Purses? All done here. Top quality.

This is my first negative review online. But after two disappointments at Phelps I have to communicate to others: do NOT bring special repairs here. One strap (of four) on my large carry purse was recently repaired poorly and looked nothing like the other straps. Then today, I picked up my "dress" Tory Burch flip-flops only to see that the thong was reduced by half to do the repair. Now I don't even have a comfortable fit or shoes that match!! I got my money back, but said, if this what you were going to do, why didn't you tell me up front or call me???? I doubt I can now wear these or get them correctly fixed. There are other issues in this shop I will not discuss, but I have to say please beware!!!

Poorly applied front sole, black sole polish everywhere.

The look, feel, and smell of this little shop reminded me of a cobbler my Mom used to go to 40 years ago when I was a little kid.

In April, I took my…read more20-year old red patent leather pumps to get new soles because the old ones were crumbling off. I chose to go here because of the good cobbler reviews and the location was convenient. I picked them up 5 days later and when I got home saw that significant damage had been done to the uppers of my shoes and the soles that had been applied were already coming off and were smeared onto the bottom of the shoe. Even the heel caps were unsecured. The damage to my shoes had been covered in red shoe polish, which came off when I touched it. I was devastated. These shoes were a gift from my husband early in our relationship and are my favorite. They are not replaceable and have high sentimental value. I called the store and they did acknowledge that they knew something had happened to the shoes, but didn't tell me. They gave me the cobbler's information and I left him a message. When we talked on the phone he said he had sanded the upper because it had gotten some of the old sole on it and then covered it up with the polish. He said he could make it right. I went back to the store and talked to the cobbler in person. At this point, I didn't have a lot of trust in his judgment given that he didn't fix the original damage when it happened and didn't tell me what had happened. After a bit of back and forth, I asked for a refund. He said the owner would cut me a check. I also asked for compensation for fixing and/or replacing my shoes, but he insisted he could fix it. Given the lack of judgment and lack of honesty and accountability, I refused. I had to follow up with The Cleaners twice about the refund check only to find out that they had directly credited my original form of payment, but no one communicated with me about any of it. I ended up taking the damaged shoes to Dardano's in the hopes that they could repair the damage and they were amazing. I should have gone there in the first place (they were appalled at what had happened to my shoes). I cannot recommend Frank the cobbler here at The Cleaners and suggest extreme caution depending on what you need.

I paid $80 for Jen to repair the handles on my bag. Within 28 days of receiving it back, the handles were already falling apart and began failing upon first use. Instead of using leather in the correct color, she used the wrong color and painted over it, which is not what one would expect from a professional repair. This was particularly upsetting because she charged me 25-50% more than the prices advertised on her website, citing increased material costs, and then proceeded to take shortcuts and use the wrong materials anyway. The issue was not limited to the quality of the work. The repair also took weeks longer than originally quoted. I was understanding about that delay because Jen said she was dealing with a personal emergency. But when the repair almost immediately began to fail, I requested a refund. She refused. Instead, she initially suggested that I drive the bag back to her home so she could attempt the repair again, which would have required over an hour of driving on my part. Since my husband and I are in the middle of a major move, this made that proposal particularly unreasonable. Only after I objected did she offer to cover shipping. By then, my confidence in her work was gone. I had no desire to send the bag back, and only agreed because I no longer had the time or energy to continue a completely unnecessary debate over an $80 repair that had already failed. What followed was an exhausting exchange in which she remained far more committed to defending her "policy" than to resolving a problem she had created. At one point in her extended messages, when I explained that I wanted a refund because having to go to the post office to send the bag back for another repair attempt would be very difficult, she responded, "I have nothing to do with your situation on moving to a different state." Later, she criticized me for not showing enough sympathy for her personal emergency, even though I had shown her nothing but understanding in my earlier messages. In fact, I had written, "I'm sorry you're dealing with so much right now and I completely understand. Please take care of what you need to, and whenever it's ready I'll come by and pick it up." What became clear is that Jen expects customers to extend grace and make allowances for her personal circumstances, but is unwilling to show the same consideration when someone else is in a difficult situation. During this exhausting back-and-forth, she repeatedly defended her refusal to refund the money, even though the repair had already failed. When I finally told her I was done discussing it, she continued messaging me until I explicitly asked her to stop. The most telling part of this experience was not just the poor workmanship. It was the complete unwillingness to take accountability afterward. Anyone can make a mistake. What matters is how they handle it when their work falls apart. In this case, the answer was excuses and refusal. Small businesses often ask customers to value craftsmanship and personal service. That cuts both ways. If you want people to support a small business, you also have to provide competent work and fair customer service. I did not receive either. The bag finally came back after Jen's second attempt to repair the handles, and, once again, the workmanship is subpar. The color is still wrong, and each handle was supposed to have a double leather strap--something I explicitly told her when I dropped the bag off. Instead, she only added a single leather strap to each handle. I would never use JT Leather Crafter again, and I would strongly encourage anyone considering leather repair in the Denver area to look elsewhere. I would rather pay someone else to redo the repair properly than deal with this business a second time. In summary, Jen's ethical failures are threefold: she accepted payment for a repair she did not actually deliver, she attempted to shield herself behind a policy that does not absolve her of responsibility for defective work, and then she shifted the cost and inconvenience of her own mistake onto me, the customer.
