Service was exceptional! Rosie's is always quick, and the staff is friendly. Nyja our server was so nice and attentive. She bagged up our chips and queso and brought refills without us asking. She is the reason I gave 5 stars! I love their free chips/salsa. Thin chips and salsa heavy on the cilantro just like I like it. What we ordered: Taco plate- grilled chicken comes w rice and beans. I liked the grilled chicken in this, the rice and beans were lacking salt tonight, but overall had enough for leftovers. San Juan - enchilada plate that comes with a cheese, beef, and chicken enchilada rice and beans (one of our favorites)! Free ice cream if you have room afterwards Rosie's has my favorite margarita in town, I don't know what they put in them but they are hands down addicting. They have drink specials throughout the week- see the front/back menu picture I added. Margarita flights with every flavor you can think of This fun, fast atmosphere is definitely a crowd favorite in HSV.

Nice treat for a working lunch today! We met out for lunch at noon and they do a great business! Very full and seated promptly and had great service! The table mostly went for the street tacos and everyone was very happy! I opted for the Big Fish taco lunch special served with green rice and black beans. The fish taco was really well done. Tilapia was cooked well and I really enjoyed the pickled red onion with the spicy slaw! A win for a fast quick lunch! Also the complimentary chips and salsa were great!

My friend from Virginia was here visiting and we went to Phil Sandoval's for Tex Mex. She used to live here and liked this restaurant. This being the week after a holiday the people were in restaurants enjoying time with family and friends. We arrived at 6:30 and waited less than 5 minutes for a nice booth. She ordered beef fajitas and we ordered double chicken fajitas. Our waitress was nice and had too many tables she was working. Our fajitas came out with little chicken and lots of onions and bell peppers. They were not sizzling at all and the vegetables were soft and mushy. The beef fajitas sizzled but the vegetables were mushy. The rice was not hot and the beans were lukewarm. I like hot food in a restaurant. When food isn't hot I wonder about health code violations. It may be due to the holidays the amount of people overwhelmed the kitchen. I am not sure. The food was not amazing and the waitress had too many tables to be efficient and effective. We will return another day.

The tortillas were delicious and fluffy. The steak fajitas were to die for and didn't take too long to come out. Place looked amazing and tables were clean.

We had the best server ever, she was so sweet and made us feel welcomed. They do birthday celebration with the sombrero with ice cream and a fried cake. Wonderful, Acapulco nachos are the best we get them every time we come through town.

Margaritas were great. Also, ordered the beef quesadilla listed under appetizers and it was phenomenal! Had decent amount of steak that was tender and seasoned very well. Really good! Also, Sat at the bar and bar tender was very social. Awesome place!

I started with the black bean soup. It was beans in broth and served with sour cream and some chopped tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. It was good but too salty. I had the lunch fish taco. It was really tasty despite looking just ok... the fish were cut like "worms". I was skeptical but once I added the pickled onions and slaw all was good. There was a mayo-based sauce I avoided. It came with beans and rice. Funny because the beans needed salt! Lol. The soft serve at the end was the perfect touch. Would come back and get the fish taco again.

The moment I knew the food was going to be great was after taking my first bite of the chips that they provided. You know it's authentic and home made when the chips are thin & crispy & light. The Mambo Taxi frozen sangria drink I ordered was amazing! The shrimp on the fajita was very delicious and it was bouncy and tasted fresh! One of the best shrimps I have eaten by far!! The only 2 thing I wished were more bell peppers and other vegetables on the fajita as it felt like it was missing something and also corn tortillas instead of flour tortillas. Towards the end, they gave me soft serve ice cream which was very delicious!! Overall, my experience was great due to the food and also the SERVICE!! My Server was outstanding!

The fish tacos are superb, especially after adding the pickled veggies and honey mustard-ish sauce. I love their thin crispy chips but am not crazy about their salsa or cheese dip. The cheese dip tastes like a jar of Tostitos cheese. The fish tacos are always spot-on though.

We've been to El Vaquero twice now to play trivia. While we enjoy the clean amenities and our…read moretrivia caller, both times, we've all been incredibly unhappy with our food. The restaurant is spacious and gets loud when there's a crowd. Thankfully, there's usually a place for our larger group (6 people) to be seated comfortably. Service is very nice but slow. Trivia runs for a little over an hour and both times our food has taken about 45 minutes to come out, despite our comparatively small orders. My friend who comes to trivia does like the food here (he always gets a beef chimichanga FWIW), but everyone else has now tried several different dishes and not once been satisfied or even just not unhappy. The one shining star has been the cheese dip. It really is pretty good cheese dip, lol. The first time I ordered the chipotle chicken, which is supposed to be chicken in a chipotle sauce. I was firstly surprised and disappointed to see these were small strips of chicken rather than a chicken breast. But that would've been okay...had the chipotle sauce been decent. It had no chipotle flavor and honestly mostly just tasted like sour cream. It was very weird. My parents have tried a beef burrito, beef taco, and chicken taco. They said the beef has an unpleasant metallic taste and the shredded chicken was, according to my dad, inedible. Most recently, my husband got a carne asada burrito and said it tasted so unpleasant he was concerned about whether he should even eat it. Fortunately, no ill effects came about as a result of it; he determined it was ultimately just very low quality meat with an unpleasant texture and taste. My father in law just doesn't order anything except a beer after coming for breakfast once and having a bad time there, too. On my most recent visit, I got a side of rice and beans to eat with chips and cheese dip. The rice had been cooked into sticky, mushy lumps and had no flavor. At this point, I have no idea what to order that might even come close to satisfying my palate. It's disappointing. We may be forced back due to circumstances like our availability in order for us to play our favorite game and have time together. If so, I'll continue to try different things until I can maybe someday find something that works. I want to like this place and wish I had the experience so many other reviewers have had.

We specifically came for margaritas during their social hour. $3 off a set list plus seasonals. There was a table card listing seasonal drinks. I specifically asked our waitress if the Christmas margarita was considered seasonal. She assured me it was, until we got our check and she said it wasn't. I'm not arguing over $6 but $26 for two watered down drinks was not a social hour deal. It's not a deal anywhere. My husband and I shared the three different empanadas gracing the social hour menu. The chicken was delicious, the beef was ok but the fish was fishy. So much so that I didn't even get to a second bite. We ordered chips, salsa and queso for the group. The chips were great - crisp and airy. The queso was good though unremarkable, the green salsa was great. The red was a tad hot for me but everyone else at the table disagreed with me. Husband and I shared the enchiladas verdes. Three chicken enchiladas were served with a plate of nearly tasteless rice. The enchiladas were dry. Even queso didn't help. I ate half of one and my husband didn't even want my second. We didn't take home the leftover enchilada. That pretty much sums them up - not even worthy of a to-go box. With tip, our check was $90. Way too much for such a mediocre meal. We just walked in the door. Hanging up our jackets, we agreed - we won't go back.

I didn't really have to worry about snacking on the chips because my food came out fairly quickly. I ordered some Mole Enchiladas and received some large portions. The chicken enchiladas were a little juicy, and the mole really enhanced the flavor. I loved the smokiness of the ancho falling through + the chocolate flavor.
