From the time I met and worked with Andrew Hines and GM Philip Franchina (over 3 years ago) they have been nothing but friendly, straight up and accommodating- no games from them. My son actually drove down 4 hours from Tampa to pick up his ILX A-Spec at Phil Smith because they gave him a much better deal. For my most recent car, we negotiated the deal- and it was not even on the lot yet. They kept their word-did not sell it out from under me and held the car until I could come pick it up. Even the service dept. is friendly and reliable. I would highly recommend this dealer to anyone looking to purchase an Acura. General Sales Manager Phil Franchina gave me a great price on a new 2021 Acura RDX A Spec SH-AWD but the best part was that he didnt give me the run around or try and talk my ear off. I told him what I wanted and he got it for me. He was straight forward with me and to the point and I could not respect that more. This was all over the phone before I even got there. Upon arriving, Phil had left for the day (as I got there kind of late) I met with a young man named Christofer Piedra. I could NOT have been more impressed by this guy. He was SUPER KNOWLEDGEABLE and SUPER PROFESSIONAL. I would have sworn he's the one who invented Acura as he knew so much and covered ALL the bases for me, customized all my settings, and just made everything so smooth and easy just like it was with Phil. In addition, another manager Sam Power facilitated the process and handled the majority of the paperwork process and he could not have been more hospitable. These 2 guys made me feel so at ease and not like I was signing my life over or making a bad decision. They made me feel good about the car that I was driving away with and not like they were only trying to make a sale. They genuinely believed in the product and it showed and that feeling of comfort and security is truly priceless and thats not something 90% of people can say about salesmen or dealerships. Defective valve covers. I have taken my 2015 RDX to a mechanic a few days ago on 1-27-2023 for what I thought was a valve cover gaskets leaking but turns to be the valve covers were defective and deteriorating and leaking oil everywhere. The valve covers had to be replaced at a cost of $ 1,342.98. The car is only 8 years old with very low mileage 74000 and I shouldn't be having to be replacing defective valve covers on a vehicle that was purchased brand new from Phil Smith Acura that is well maintained with low miles on it. Yes, the warranty has expired but I reached out to Phil Smith Acura by taking the defective valve covers in to have them inspected and one of their service consultants told me that this is very common for these valve covers to do this and that they see it at their dealership quite often. I emailed the receipt and photos to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, General Manager and Operating Partner and they basically told me that it is a manufacturer issue and not the dealership. I don't understand how a dealership can tell a loyal customer that there nothing that they can do for them especially when they were the one that sold the vehicle to the customer. Myself and my family will purchase more vehicles in the near future but it will not be a dealership associated with this Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Just completed the acquisition of 2018 Acura TLX with 2..4L Inline-4 8-Spd DCT with Technology Package. It replaces a 2007 Acura TL that served me well for over 10 years. I do want to give a shout-out to my sales professional, Mike Leyden. I visited on and off with Mike over several years during service visits for my Acura TL. As a business school professor I have learned to respect professional sales efforts. Mike made me feel wanted and literally worked with me for 3 years until my time came to say yes. And that is why I feel comfortable recommending Mike to any person I know and the readers of this review. I also want to commend Acura (and its parent Honda) for the leap forward they made with the 2018 model. Precision Crafted Performance may be buzzwords, but I feel this time around the words have real meaning and that Acura has taken an important step forward for its customers. My best example is Acura Watch (the Suite of Safety features, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure, Lane Keeping Assist System and Collision Mitigation Braking System) come as standard features on the Acura TLX. Acura was the first luxury vehicle brand awarded top safety ratings across entire product line by NHTSA. One edit is necessary. I discovered last night when I went to register my vehicle on Acura.com that I was given a registration with the wrong VIN number. Not cool. DON'T RECOMMEND based upon my personal experience . I purchased a vehicle from this dealership 10/2022. I flew in to purchase this vehicle that was still under the 4 year manufacturer warranty and the certified warranty they gave me. Drove it home about 400 miles away and within 7 days I would hear a horrible squeal every time I would attempt to break, attempt to stop, pulling out the driveway and breaking,etc. I immediately called and spoke to both the General manager Phil and the service manager Warren. They both told me to take it into my local dealership to get it looked at and to call them with what they said. My local dealership told me that the BREAKS And ROTORS were both not good and they had to be replaced. They informed me that a car that was presented to be CERTIFIED through ACURA should not have those issues within the first week let alone the first 30 days of purchase. I immediately called back to speak with Phil and tell him and the service manager Warren of the $800 bill I was just presented. They BOTH told me that it was nothing they could do about it and that they were not paying for any bill and it was no longer their issue. Warren then goes to tell me they certified the vehicle at the rotor and break thickness it was when the person returned this leased vehicle back in. He told me they didn't replace anything with the breaks and rotors. The salesperson told me everything was done before certifying it including the breaks and rotors during the days of us communicating before I actually traveled to Phil Smith Acura in Florida. During my call with Phil the general manager telling me that they were not paying ,we some how got disconnected .I call RIGHT back and now all of a sudden Phil is in a meeting. I left a voicemail and called back daily for about a week. I YET to get back in contact with him. I'm FURIOUS all this money I put down and paid for this vehicle and this to happens! They never paid for the service and didn't care that I was over 400 miles away with issues on a basically brand-new car they had just sold me 7 days prior.My local Acura couldn't believe they were treating me like this and a manager there insured me he would help settle this issue with Acura because there was NO WAY THAT CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN CERTIFIED IN THAT CONDITION! I would have definitely stayed local and purchased a car for all the troubles and the horrible service and ignoring I received after. My husband's car finally died and it was time to get a new one- an experience that should be wonderful but is usually not; especially here in South Florida. He settled on the Acura brand and a specific model and -armed with knowledge and great credit on our side - we were hoping that this time would be a great experience. After reaching out to the main dealerships near the Miami area, we were already disappointed. Miami's Esserman Acura didn't bother to call back but the worst one by far was Pines Acura! They refused to budge on two fair offers but worse of all, acted pompous and entitled, often boasting about their dealership size and how they didn't need to budge on a deal. So we reset our search a little farther north from the Miami area and found Phil Smith Acura in Pompano- and found our faith and hope restored! This is a truly great dealership! Not only did they negotiate a fair deal with us -even better than what Pines Acura turned its arrogant nose at- but they kept their promises and actually fulfilled everything they said before we reached the dealership. They didn't have the exact car my husband wanted but they found a way to get it fast and it was on their lot, nice and clean, when we arrived. South Florida dealerships are notorious for bait-and-switch but not here. My husband is an essential healthcare responder serving bravely during this Coronavirus pandemic and the manager, Mr. Franchina, personally came out is his office to thank him for his service as did others. Spencer, Mark and the finance manager were great too, being very friendly and knowledgeable and greeting us by name as soon as we got out of the car. Everyone was wearing masks, which I really appreciated as well, showing respect for their customers and our community. Even my young son said they were "very, very nice"-high praise indeed. We purchased an extended warranty provided by Fidelity Warranty and they refuse to pay the labor on the claim. I recently bought an used car over there. I was told that the car had been fully inspected only to have the AC broken down on me after three weeks. I took the car to a mechanic who said that the car needs a new evaporator wich costs a total of U$ 1.200 00. I was also told that the car has not had oil change for a long time. So, it was clear to me that the car was never inpected. I went back to the dealer and spoke to the sales guy first who said sorry i cant do nothing you bought as it is. I went and talked to the sales manager who told me he would help me, but after many trips going there nothing was done. I was left with a huge repair. Terrible experience. We just leased our second Acura. First we were in an RDX, that Michael Leyden sold to us, and now we are in a beautiful new MDX. The WORST service I've ever experienced. My husband and I went to this dealership inquiring about their service information and our car warranty. They guy at the front gave us the biggest attitude and spoke to us like we were stupid. He said looking the information up wasn't his "job". Since we didn't buy the car at this Acura it wasn't his problem. When we asked about service fees he said he didn't know and then proceeded on to saying it would be about $280 to check the problem. We spoke with other locations and found out this was incorrect. These guys need to learn how to be polite to the customers. I read a ton o bad reviews and now see how it's true. WE WILL NOT BE COMING BACK. We rather drive a little further than to be treated like we're stupid. read more

Put a cash down on a vehicle I was trying to purchase. They sold the vehicle to another buyer and notified me three days later. Dealership Policy isn't ethical and their main focus is on maximizing profit above conducting fair business. Another flag I noticed while trying to purchase this vehicle was on price. We agreed on a -$300 from the vehicle price, but they tried to give me the -$300 on the licensing and title fee; it's a totally different result in terms of financing. One of the best dealerships around. The staff is amazing , all the way from the managers to the technicians. They train their staff well. The salesman are super knowledgable on the product and the technicians are second to none. My TLX was fixed correctly by the technician Les Roberts with a very low cost thank to an advisor Anthony whom was well informed on the product and went into detail the issue I was having with my car. I only trust this Acura dealership with my car as well as my wife's, as there is no smoke on mirrors and everyone is up front about everything. I have been doing business with this dealership for close to 10 years. I'm clearly a loyal customer. After recently purchasing another car through them. I can say unequivocally that they barely deserve the one star they're getting. Due to their lack of follow through, and what is now weeks of going back and forth with them, more back because they don't come forth with anything but the run around, I'm currently driving a car that I paid cash for with no title. In fact, due to their ineptitude and choice to not handle the situation or even call back, my tag is expired and I can't renew it because they haven't filed the correct paperwork so I don't even show as an owner to have the right to a tag! Yes, I paid cash and almost 6 months later still don't have resolution on a legal issue and can't even get a call back!!!! Due to the fact that Mike Leyden was the best car salesman I have ever dealt with, I went back to look at another RDX. I was also told that Winston no longer works at the dealership and was reassured that my experience this time would be much different. Upon arriving, I was greeted by multiple employees. They were all willing to assist, but weren't pushy at all. Mike was busy with other customers but went out of his way to help me as much as he could. He had Joe Castellano help me due to him being in the middle of a sale. Joe was just like Mike and was extremely respectful, helpful, and honest. Joe did a great job going over everything in the vehicle. When I was ready to sit down and talk numbers, he listened and did everything he could to get me a great deal. When I thought it wasn't possible, Joe kept going and made sure we tried everything and it worked! We were able to come to a deal. I then spoke with the used car Manager Rafael. He was the total opposite of Winston. Extremely helpful and only spoke the truth. He listened and got it done. I also was assisted by a salesman named Jeff. He was new but was also extremely helpful. The finance manager Sam Power was also incredible. He continued to find me little discounts to bring down my payment. Just an overall incredible experience. My wife is extremely happy with her RDX and I am extremely happy with the experience. Although Mike is my guy, I would not hesitate to recommend Joe or Jeff. What a real turnaround this experience was. I felt appreciated and welcomed. Our brand new Acura was damaged in the tornado yesterday, Wed. We couldn't get to the car until today because there were downed power lines all around but we could see from the distance that there was body damage and some tree branches under the car along with what looked like aluminum foil. Got to the car today and it started and immediately called Phil Smith Acura and explained what happened. They said come right over which we did. Tell me, what auto service place shows that kind of concern? I was expecting to have to wait a few days in which time I'd be worried about using the car because of possible damage underneath. Anyway, at Phil Smith Acura, they put the car on the lift and there's nothing wrong with it, to my surprise and great relief. There is some body damage and we have the name of the body shop they recommend. Now, it's a question of dealing with the insurance. We were helped big time by Renee Mitchell and Tracy, not sure of the exact titles. And, while we were there, we saw them helping other customers with a level of competence and cooperation way beyond other auto service places including the Acura dealer from where the car was purchased. Giving this dealer 5 stars is almost low balling them. Both Renee and Tracy deserve more than that. read more

Loaner car is always available and usually better than the car dropped off. DO NOT BUY from this dealership. I will say my initial purchase experience was not bad. However, everything since that time has been a disaster. I bought a CPO RDX. CPO apparently doesn't mean much with Acura or this dealership. Almost immediately I noticed that the car had been sold to me with a chip in the windshield that I had missed when initially looking at the car. However, on their CPO documentation, it stated that the windshield was in flawless condition. Also, 3 months later the car started having issues with the axles. This is a car that had 20k miles and one prior owner. Also, I had thought that their CPO process would inspect for issues since that is their guarantee. I was misled by that promise. I tried to contact the dealership to at least have them look at it. The customer service is nonexistent and the best I could do is get an appointment two weeks out when I am having a serious issue with my car. Not to mention that 2019's list of most reliable cars has Acura as dead last. Now I see why. If you are still set on an Acura, Purchase it elsewhere. All of the Phil Smith locations in my experience have been horrible. The KIA and Chevy dealerships actually manage to be worse than this location but that is not saying much. As far as the initial purchase. The kid that sold me the car was nice but it was only his second sale. Outside of him, the employees are not the best. In fact, the finance manager acted like I was out of my mind to ask a question before signing documents. I was surprised he didn't even want to or try to offer the little service packages or anything to me. First time I have purchased a car without even being offered anything sort of maintenance plan. Not that I would have bought it but I to at least know what they offer would have been nice or if I could have been treated like a customer not a nuisance. The financial and negotiation process is usually a painstaking one for a consumer but everything was easily explained, identified and considered prior to making the deal and Joey made me feel like I was the only customer that mattered on a busy Friday night. Service dept review Have brought in our Acura many times and have always noted an attitude and general unpleasant experience but we always shrugged it off. Today they really showed their lack of quality and customer care. We came in for repair of a battery that was replaced 1 yr and 4 days ago with a new battery. our cars warranty ended in the interim therefore they state the battery is not covered. I questioned if they just put in a new battery 1 yr ago almost to the day why would it already be bad and not covered. They were very unhelpful and downright rude. Renee, whom I was not even dealing with, actually laughed at me while I was questioning this. She stated good luck you aren't getting anything out of us you might as well leave and continued to joke and laugh at me right in front of me while I spoke with another worker. I have never seen this behavior allowed in any business towards a customer. To belittle and laugh at someone who has spent a lot of money on fairly expensive cars with Acura is so far past the line. I have actually dealt with her in the past and she was fairly rude then as well. Getting away from the poor customer service I would like to say they do not stand behind their service repairs. A battery they replaced a year ago to date they told me failed and needed to be replaced and it was not covered. They tell me they stand behind their work and the service manager told me "in south Florida the expectant life of a battery is only about a year". I don't think so. To top it all off when I left and went to auto zone they also tested my battery and told me it was just at 0% and they charged it for free and it works just fine. Acura told me it had to be replaced, a lie! So to summarize they told me my 1 yr old battery had to be replaced and was not covered and turns out it did not even need to be replaced to start with. This place is a scam, they are rude, and they do not stand behind their product. Go elsewhere read more
