It has become very difficult to even contact his office to schedule a procedure , and to schedule a followup with Dr P. Chen . His practice has a high turn over of office personnel , which results negatively on his patients . ( We sure miss Dean). His staff failed twice to contact my wife for followup after a colonoscopy. Twice, his staff have failed to schedule a colonoscopy for my wife , and one time for myself, that Dr Chen requested . Each time I initiated the contact and made the appointments. Dr. Chen is a great person, caring , intelligent . He's stretched too thin and does not have the caring, detailed orientated staff in place to benefit his patients . Because he is such a nice , caring , understanding Doctor we have tried to stay with him. We have been with him for close to 8 years . The last two years the above issues have deteriorated so much that we will reluctantly be leaving his care . What was once a 5 star experience has dwarfed into a generous 2 star . read more

Orange County has hundreds of physicians. Many are specialists which means they have had extra training in a special field. However, the extra training does not necessarily make them special doctors. Dr. Chen is a special doctor. He is skilled and knowledgable in his field but his outstanding expertise is his concern for his patients. In my case he listened intently to my symptoms and followed with an examination. After an informative description of my problem he recommended looking into my GI tract. I had these procedures done before but the preparation and performance of them in Dr. Chen's hands was smoother and more comfortable.
