This Dr acted like I was bothering him, by being there for an appt. Didn't look at me while I was trying to explain why I was there. Spent maybe 4 minutes with me, and got up and walked out, told me to make another appt. Did absolutely nothing to try and help me. I waited 2 weeks for the appt... they wanted me to waited till the end of Dec to come back...which is 6 weeks away. Im dizzy, lightheaded, and my hearing is muffled. He could have cared less. A joke of a doctor and a joke office. He teams up with Monica Kieu an other greedy doctor to rip off people with high bills out of nowhere. To do a balloon sinuplasty procedure "in the office" for me, they wanted to charge my insurance $10,000 I just did a quick search on my phone in the waiting room and I discovered this will be between $3,000 to $7,000 in a hospital room (with anesthesiologist present, etc) and in a doctor office should be way less. Just because he rented an office in Newport Beach he thinks he is entitled to rip off patients !!!! My advice look around ....there are many honest doctors, you don't need to go to these two ready to rip off patients !!!!! I've been seeing Dr. Chironis for over 3 years, and have always had a great experience. He performed a tonsillectomy about 2 years ago and I had no issues with the procedure. This doctor has thee worst bedside manner I've ever encountered. I would never recommend him. My daughter had a tonsillectomy and after 4 long weeks was still in excruciating pain. He completely down played her pain and actually seemed annoyed that she was in pain! At our office visit, as my my was teared up in pain, he just left the room and had his nurse come handle the remaining appt issues with us. His follow-up was so minimal, he was out of the office more than he was in (golfing as I was informed by him). After several phone calls, office visits, and 2 emergency room visits My daughter lost 17 lbs from this surgery due to accessive pain and had suffered a large amount of hair loss. We were later told it was from poor nutrition from lack of being able to eat for so long while taking a lot of pain meds. What he did was say this is normal and prescribed MORE pains meds. There were issues and he was unavailable and didn't care. The emergency room doctor said this pain was not normal and that perhaps the laser went too deep. To this day my daughter still has pain on one side of her throat. Is there a way to give a zero star rating?? read more

Due to my particular ear troubles, I've seen several ENTs and several audiologists. Based on my experiences, I cannot recommend dr. Chironis's practice. They were very quick to bill my insurance for procedures they did not perform. In fact, the "audiologist" (hearing aid dispenser) that I saw admitted she didn't perform any of those procedures. After a call to billing and Wendy's intervention, my bill was lowered to 1 cent, but the insurance portion was never reversed. Smells like a fraud? I got referred to dr. Chironis's office through a "free trial" form on a hearing aid manufacturer's website. They called me the next day and explained that the "free trial" requires the standard California deposit and no other charges would be made. This is really any office's procedure... I went to the office where I met Wendy - their hearing aid dispenser (note, NOT AN AUDIOLOGIST, as another reviewer called her). Wendy was really very nice, said that she had the exact hearing aid I wanted, and that I could leave the office that day with my trial started. How great. Then she proceeded to open a box with some other person's name on it, and started the fitting... hmmm... was is a returned hearing aid maybe? She loaded the audiogram I brought along to the computer, programmed the hearing aid, then did a few tweaks and we were ready to go. The fitting lasted maybe 15 minutes, the whole visit was no more than 45 minutes long. I paid the $600 deposit and was told to see her early the following week. At home, I realized that I got a lower model than I wanted... Wendy was surprised but told me that I'd get a replacement if I decided to keep them as my provider... Two days later, I got a message from my insurance that dr. Chironis's office had charged me for two tests - a total of $275. I did not have any tests performed at that office, so why the charges? When I asked Wendy, she was super surprised, said that no charges should have been made. Later, she texted an apology and promised to contact the billing department. I ended up having to call the billing office myself and they cut my bill to 1 cent, but never reimbursed the insurance... To sum up: 1) Watch your insurance bills. Check and double check any billed tests and procedures. They are not honest. Ever after admitting their fault, they did not reimburse my insurance... 2) Wendy is not an audiologist. Lots of certificates on her walls but no university diploma. When asked about her qualifications he said that she has 16 years of experience, and that her audiologist friends say she does not need "a paper." Say what? 3) When I asked if she performed real ear measures (gold standard of hearing aid fitting), she said that she typically doesn't, because she still would have to tweak things after measures are done, so therefore what's the point. Also, the audiologist friends of Wendy's do not do real ear measures, so why should she? That's a major flag. My current audiologist, AuD, did REM and the difference in sound quality was astounding. He charged only $400 more than Wendy. Totally worth it! 4) She uses the title "audioprosthologist" - please refer to American Academy of Audiology for their position on the use of such a title by a non-audiologist. 5) Her recorded appointment confirmation voice message calls her "doctor" Wendy. Dr. Chironis performed a procedure we SPECIFICALLY discussed and agreed not to do...radio frequency coblation which was already performed by another doctor with detrimental results. He did exactly that which we agreed not to do, while I was under and then he performed a deviated septum which we never discussed which also impeded my aerobic athletic performance. The Radio Frequency destroyed my nasal mucosa leaving only my lung tissue to deal with air particles and foreign mater. I now cough up mucus that my nasal mucosa was originally designed to do. One good thing about him was that he referred me to an real doctor that was able to correct some of my air intake but the mucosa and now lung damage is a permanent issue. read more

My experience with Dr. Chironis and team was very sub-par. The overall surgery itself was a 3.5/5. The aftermath with insurance has been a 0/5 stars. The surgery was decent. The only main complaint I have is -- I was not given steroids after the surgery and that caused the swelling to be extreme and led to lots of pain and discomfort. I had to call in for steroids a few days later and those helped the swelling tremendously. Not sure why steroids are not part of the standard operating procedure as they are for most other surgeries and nasal inflammation is extremely painful and to be expected after surgery. The part that has been the absolute worst though, has been dealing with insurance later. Chironis was/is in my network, so that was not the issue. The issue was that Chironis and team did not submit my surgery to insurance until the day of. Insurance denied paying the whole claim because they deemed it as not 'medically necessary.' Chironis and team did not do their due diligence and submit to insurance before to make sure there were no road bumps/insurance accepted the surgery. Chironis and team have also been awful to work with when it comes to appealing to insurance and providing medical reasoning to why the surgery was medically necessary. They would rather harass me with phone calls and letters to have me pay the remaining balance, instead of appealing on my behalf to insurance. It has been over a year and I am still in the middle of this billing issue. This could have all been avoided if Chironis and team took the time and effort to make sure insurance would cover it and follow the proper procedure. Hopefully, Chironis and team can work with me and my insurance to get this figured out because insurance needs some more detail that the office has not been very compliant and proactive with giving. I would recommend looking elsewhere for a nasal surgeon as this doctor and team seem to be cutting corners and not following proper protocol. read more

I was having severe pain in my ear while on vacation in Newport Beach. Ugh! A quick search for the nearest Ear Specialist, and I called Dr. Chironis. When I called the receptionist was super helpful and squeezed me in right away. I had a stupid ear infection! I picked up my prescription and was soon brand new! Yay! If I could give ZERO stars, I would! I am appalled with this office, staff, and doctor. Where do I even begin? Let's start off with the fact that the staff assured me they took my insurance, even after reading reviews about how they have told others they took their insurance and turned out they didn't, I trusted they did. I got to the office for my appointment, and asked again if they took my insurance to be positive, they told me they didn't. I took the day off of work and payed a babysitter to watch my daughter so I could make the appointment and then they tell me they don't take my insurance. Are you kidding me? I told them this issue is all over their Yelp and google reviews that they tell people they take insurance and then when they go to their appointment, they have been lied to about that. I was livid, my time and money are valuable and they just don't care. They didn't want to take any responsibility for it, talked over me, and blamed the girl that wasn't working that day. I saw the doctor who barely examined me, and made me feel even worse leaving their office. I then get a bill in the mail, and LESS THAN ONE MONTH I called them to pay it. They told me they sent it to collections!! Wait, what?? I asked the staff why they would send my bill to collections when it hasn't even been one month of me receiving it?? She told me they usually send THREE bills through the mail before sending to collections. Again, I have only received ONE bill LESS THAN ONE MONTH AGO!! She had no explanation for me, other than she would have someone call me back. I am beside myself. I have perfect credit, and excellent payment history on my credit, so why would they send this to collections? This is a mistake you cannot make and I will get to the bottom of it! Shame on all of you!! Your office is a joke and a SCAM! I will make sure to post this review everywhere possible so people know what you are doing to your patients. How dare you send me to collections and not even know the reason, or tell me it's a "mistake" This honestly makes me sick that these people in this professional work place could be so irresponsible. read more

I was referred by my PCP for an evaluation for sleep apnea. The MD I was referred to had a six week wait for an appointment, so I checked out other ENTs in the area and made an appointment to see Dr. Chironis. My consultation with him was literally less than five minutes, and several of the few questions he asked me were answered in the paperwork that I filled out before my visit. Once my sleep study was done, it took four days for me to hear back from his office about my results, and all I got was a repeat of what was in the report that was given to me when I had the sleep study done. On the up side, it took a lot less time for me to get an appointment to see him than the MD I was initially referred to. Despite the amazingly short consult, I did get what I needed- an order for a sleep study and the prescription for a APAP machine once the study was done. Mission accomplished, but seriously lacking in "bedside" manner and customer service. read more

I love this office!!! Dr. Chironis recently treated me for chronic sinus infections and I went to see him as a second opinion. He prescribed medication on my first visit. During that initial visit he was very clear with explaining my symptoms and the possibility of surgery due to my history and if the medication does not help. He was very professional and the staff was amazing. The office was under construction and still organized and well put together. The staff treated me so well and extremely friendly and pleasant. When I returned after no relief from the medication we moved forward with surgery and the outcome was life changing for me. During the process the office called to follow up with me after my surgery and spoke with my husband whom was taking care of me and they were available to answer all our questions/concerns during the recovery period. The staff was prompt and very educated with assisting during the surgery scheduling. Prior to surgery the office was extremely efficient with following up on my benefits and obtaining an authorization prior to surgery and super detailed with my portion to pay out of pocket. The billing department is amazing and my claim was processed by the health plan within 2 weeks. This office is extremely efficient with their operations. It was so refreshing to be treated by a doctor who is friendly and outgoing and very detailed and to the point. And again the front office staff are super friendly, sweet and professional. And I would also like to note what a beautiful office with the updates. When I returned for my post op visit the office looked gorgeous. This Dr had rough bedside manners to start came in with chronic sinusitis had to do surgery still had infection he ordered CAT scan and then he would not call me back about results for over a week . I called everyday finally had to go into office to get copy of results. I guess he made his money from the surgery and didn't want to follow up. I was asked, by him, if I have talked to a psychologist because I had tears rolling down my cheeks. I expected a specialist to help but was basically told, if it's not on the tests I can't help. So I had tears out of frustration. I was asked why I'm such an angry person because I was disappointed he couldn't help. He asked questions that were on the paperwork I filled out, and he seemed to not have read the paperwork for both appointments. Told me my issues were not connected yet all issues were in my sinus, ear and throat. Hence seeing a ENT, so I thought. He said I was yelling yet I can barely talk because my throat is sore. I was told it was allergies, and nothing he could do. Yes I have taken pills and sprays. They don't work so I was looking for help from him. There was no compassion or care. I felt like a child and was talked to like I was an idiot. Everything I told him was either ignored, taken lightly or he said was wrong. I never expected magic but I expected help. Maybe even understanding or care. Instead I felt horrible, wasted time and money and back at square one. If you have issues and don't know what is wrong, don't go to him. He apparently can't help you unless one test says there is something. (Even though my hearing test showed something and my scan had a slight issue) oh and he claimed to know what work was done on me 7years ago. And argued with me about it. Someone else did surgery on my sinuses and turbinates that was not successful. Dr. Chironis corrected the problem for me. I can breathe now and have relief from chronic sinus problems and infections. I am impressed. He corrected a botched surgery on the first pass and patched me up. Everything is great now. He knew immediately what he had to do to fix me up. He did everything right on the operating table. I am fantastic today because of him. I highly recommend Dr. Chironis. He is skilled at what he does. He knows his stuff. He is a nice guy. I had scheduled an appointment and it was confirmed that my insurance was accepted. I gave the Receptionist my insurance information and was assured that it was accepted. When I came for the initial visit, I was advised that the insurance was out of network, but the office manager would work with me. At this point I elected to move forward as I was already in the office. I arrived on time and was seated in the waiting room for over 30 minutes without the Dr. or staff checking in. I went to see this doctor 2 days ago. Throat congestion....He told me it was "All in my head" What???? He then wanted to refer to to a "friend" of his with more experience..I asked him why this other doctor had more experience? He told me (As if I was 3 years old) I had 6 years of study, he had 7.....He said, I was just afraid to talk in my meetings...I am an engineering professional for over 30 years and have managed over 20 people. About 9 months ago Dr. Chrionis performed a tonsillectomy on me(I'm 21). I actually live out of state and was referred to him by my concierge doctor there in Newport. I was referred to Dr. Chironis for a deviated septum. He performed laser surgery in my nose and sinuses. I found out later this type of surgery has not been performed for this condition for a number of years, due to complications. The infections I had for the next few years were horrible. He kept giving me antibiotics but nothing worked. Finally, I asked my doctor if I could see another ENT, who corrected my problem the right way. I still suffer with cracking and peeling inside my nose, pain and some loss of smell from his surgery. He should have known better, if he had kept up-to-date with his field of medicine. read more

I went to see Dr. Chironis last year, March 2013 after struggling for six months with sinus infections. He had me undergo a CAT scan and said I needed surgery. The surgery was performed and that evening I began vomiting non-stop from the pain medication. I called him as instructed and he seemed bothered by my call. Said it would pass. I went back to him in a few days as instructed and he spent about 5 min with me and said I was healing nicely. I continued to see him every few weeks for about 3 or 4 months. Because I was not getting better, he sent me for another CAT scan and said basically the surgery did not work. He then had me undergo allergy testing which his tech said he would provide treatment, but Dr Chironis said was not an issue. Because I had an ongoing cough from the sinus drainage, he send me to another doctor for treatment of the cough and washed his hand of me. I sit a year later suffering from ongoing sinus infections and the same issue I came to see him about in the first place. The only difference is I'm much poorer for having to pay him for surgery, the CAT scans and the doctor appointments. My recommendation, find another doctor. read more

I met with Dr Chironis after six months of on/off antibiotics for what I thought was a crummy sinus infection that wouldnt go away but the CT scan showed otherwise (right sphenoid sinus almost completely filled up). He suggested surgery to open/clean it out,I agreed cuz I had been so sick for so long and I trusted him right from the start.His surgery nurse Sandy happily answered all my questions that I could possible come up with and the surgery went fine. Home healing protocol was very important especially first few days and I followed all the rules so two weeks later I am doing fine. Glad there were other reviews before mine that spoke so highly of Dr Chironis cuz it gave me confidence I was on the right path as I waited for my first appointment. Dr. Chionis performed sinus surgery on me in order to open up the sinuses on the left side of my face. The surgery was a total failure. I still can't breathe on my left side, and I am out thousands of dollars. Dr. Chironis' follow-up to surgery was also quite poor. He disappeared immediately after my surgery, and didn't bother to talk to me or my wife. Recover from surgery was much longer than I was informed it would be. Where do I start. Well the first and only appointment lasted all about 5 mins. I told him I had a sinus infection and I had a CT scan to prove it. He looked up my nose then walked me to the reception area and had one of his staff call the hospital that the CT scan at. I signed a paper (witch was faxed) to have the scan released and mailed to them. I also wanted to sign up for Care Credit (because I didn't have the full amount of money to pay for the procedure). The staff member told me that I could sign up for that at the surgery center the day of the appointment. I took her word for it and left. Ended up scheduling the surgery date over the phone which I was kept on hold for over 10 mins just waiting for the staff member to transfer me to the person who schedules surgery dates. The appointment was finally made and they mailed me a packet of instructions entailing what i needed to do before the surgery. Fast forward to the day before the surgery. I get a call in the middle of the day from the office confirming the surgery for the next day. She also told me that they didn't have my CT scan yet. The Doc hadn't even seen my scan yet but was going to operate on me with out it unless I went and got it. I ended up having to take off work so I could run to the hospital and bring it to them. (Why did I sign the release in the first place!) The morning of the surgery I was about to go in and the staff member at the surgery center informed me that they had no ID number for the Care Credit option. I told her that my Doc's office said I could sign up for it here. Boy was I wrong. She handed me a hefty bill and I was at a loss for words. I ended up walking out because I could not afford the price. To anyone reading this do yourself a favor and look for somebody that will care about having your business. The staff is grossly incompetent and can't be trusted for anything accept collecting the bill. To follow it up the Doctor couldn't care less about you and in my estimation is he very careless. read more
