This review is long over due! Words can not describe the gratitude I have for Dr. Strelzow and his staff. He is very professional and his examinations were done thoroughly. He didn't push me away with pointless prescriptions and close my file. He actually listened to my concerns. I wasn't just a "number" I was a patient. I have never felt like a patient in my life. I have suffered from enlarged tonsils for 14 years! For 14 years (and at least 3-4 times a year) I was given the run around and prescribed antibiotics that never seemed to help. I had tonsil stones and sore throat for years and went to 5 different doctors in Newport and irvine- specialists and none had an answer except for surgery that I was told was excruciatingly painful and often not effective .. it wasn't until I found Dr Strezlow that his years of experience I find the answer.. it did take him more that the 5 minutes normally allotted but he did give me the answer that has totally rid me of tonsil stones without surgery.. he knows his stuff and got to the root cause that other doctors didn't even address.. I lost sense of smell last year (not corona related) First I went to walk in and they prescribed antibiotic and nasal spray. It didn't work so I went to this doctor. Like other people mentioned he talked for 30 min. told me to buy over the counter sinus cleaner and spray. The spray cost $30 and end up the same spray I was prescribed by Walk-in which cost $3. Since that didn't work he prescribed steroids for 10days. I had to reschedule for follow up appointment but his office didn't call back, I call twice but I never got follow up and corona quarantine started. I wouldn't go back to even quarantine is completely over. read more

My husband had his deviated septum corrected about a month ago. A couple of hours after the surgery, Dr. Strelzow called my cell to check on my husband. I found Dr. Strelzow as he is close to my work. He was helping me with an ear infection that had been misdiagnosed by my GP. He was extremely thorough and helped me get the right treatment. So when I got another infection he was the first person i called. This infection was resolved in a little over a week and diagnosed correctly. He is honest and thats what I like. He tells me like it is and is good at understanding my concerns. I would go back to him for any of my ear issues in the future. read more

By now you can tell it's hit or miss with this doctor. When he saw me he was condescending, snarky, inconsiderate, and displayed a general air of superiority. I was having a 101degree fever and he used big words and convoluted vocabulary to explain the obvious: that I either had a cold or virus and that's what's giving me the symptoms. He then proceeded to roll his eyes and shrug at me as if I was surprised to see my body react this way or that I didn't know that I was unwell. Sir, that's why I went to see you per my family physician in the first place! He asked me what kind of treatment my family physician gave me. I told him the medications, and he asked me further details in interrogation style like exactly how many pills I've taken and how many pills left. When I gave him a rough estimate of around half a week of medication left, he said: "Around?! What do you mean around? That's not precise! Whatcha study in college? Huh, what kinda engineer are you?" Sir, I was given a prescription and instruction to take it until it's finished. I was not, nor have I ever been told, to count the pills. Not to mention I was so bent out of shape from my symptoms that I couldn't think straight to give you a "precise" answer that you so wanted. To be fair, upon learning I was on the right track treatment wise, he did inform me so and instruct me to keep going forward with it. One other thing he did right out of the many he did wrong: After seeing my aggravated symptoms, he took a culture of my throat and said he'll have the lab test it and give me a call in 3-4 days. And he suggested a supplement to combat the negative effects of the antibiotics I was on. But this step in the right direction was followed by a leap in the wrong direction. He made me verbally recite THREE TIMES the 3 things that I'll do after the appointment: wait for the test results, take the remaining antibiotics, and eat the suggested supplement. He literally held his three fingers up and counted the times I recited, as if I was 3 yeas old or something! I was too weak to argue with him and when I stopped at the second time he just held up his last finger and stared at me in awkward silence until I finished the last time. When the test result came back, he called me personally. The call started quite abrasive. I picked up, said hello. He said he was the doctor and he got the test result in. I said great ok. Then he fell silent and asked me who I was, as if I could be anyone but the patient. Sir, you called me. Why would you ask who you're calling? And why would I leave someone else's number at a doctors office? After stating my name, he actually sounded a lot more polite over the phone, probably realized he had been harsh on a patient for no good reason. He explained everything came back normal, then asked me how I was doing. I said I felt better and then he congratulated me and tell me to come back if anything pops up. Now I'm not one of those previous reviewers who said don't come to him, he didn't do his job, blah blah blah. Because he did. He did his job, and he gave me clear instructions on what to do. It's that he made me feel he wasn't trying to help me in particular and made me feel extremely unimportant and unvalued as a patient. No doctor should make a patient feel that way. Obviously the good reviewers didn't get my kind of treatment from him. But a good bunch of others (many of whom I notice are women or girls) did feel very mistreated. So I say your mileage may vary and you need to be aware of that. read more

He took great effort to communicate with you to make sure you understand what he's doing and the beneficiary of of his procedure. AVOID... What a cheat... this so called doctor insisted on cash payment a few years ago so my brother and I got cash the day of our appointment and gave his front desk two $100 bills. He xeroxed the money and gave us a copy for our records. We went in and he chit chatted about how pretty some persian girls are in his class and went off one tangent after another. finally after reminding him of the time and how we had to be somewhere, he did his exam and we left. So went to buy a house a few years later and was denied because I was in collections. Called around and found this yahoo had billed us for $200 for his exam, which was paid for in cash per his instructions. Called the office several times to clear it up but they would only give me the run around. Although I was 10000% percent sure we paid for this visit, wanting to buy a house, I asked them to bill me so that I can take care of it, as I wasn't going to let $200 plus interest get in my way. They mentioned I owed a little over $400 which I sent a check for, had the check cashed, but despite their promise to let the credit agency know, they did not. Overall, a very poor experience with the doctor and at the office. So shady to insist on cash, receive it, then only to find out a few years later that they actually sent you to collections and messed up your credit. How unprofesional. read more

My college age daughter has dealt with chronic breathing issues her entire life. She needs her enlarged tonsils removed. The office staff was kind and squeezed my daughter into a "same day" appointment for which we were grateful. Dr. Strelzow was arrogant, sarcastic, and actually mocked my daughters condition. He even spoke despairingly about her decision to attend college on the east coast and scoffed at her major in college. This man is insensitive not to mention bizarre in his communication style. Imitating snoring only heightens the embarrassing nature of her condition. Dr. Strelzow.... you are a rude human being. I am guessing that granting us over an hour of your time entitles you to pontificate and insult your clientele. Thankfully, we had enough time for you to expose your snarky self. I had a septoplasy (surgery to fix a deviated septum) through Dr Strelzow, and have to say... I like being able to breathe! For 34 years I've never been able to breath through my nose. Kind of bothered me, but I was used to it because I never knew life differently. I always breathed through my mouth. Every now and then I thought about have surgery for it, but thought it would be a big deal, so never bothered. One day I went to Dr. Stelzow for some issues I had with a prolonged sore throat. After discussing that... he brought up that I was a mouth breather. We talked about how I never was able to breathe through my nose so always breathed through my mouth. He took a look and confirmed that my nasal passages were about 80% blocked. We discussed options of having surgery and after taking the pros and cons into consideration I decided to move forward. Dr Strelzow did a fantastic job with the surgery. During the recovery period it was very uncomfortable for a week, then got progressively better for about 3 months. Now that its been about 4 months, its amazing to be able to breathe normally. I've overall had a very positive experience. Dr's staff Wendy and Leslie were always polite and responsive. After the surgery, I had a series of follow up visits to make sure that everything was healing properly. He never rushed the visit, and always made sure that I was taken care of. I've read several reviews saying that Dr Stezlow has an interesting sense of humor and can make inappropriate comments. Yes, he does. Just know that going in and get used to it. First he had me spray 2 puffs in each nostril 3 times a day, then schedule another follow up appointment where he performed fancy imaging on my nose with a camera. Then he had me spray 2 puffs in each nostril 2 times a day, then schedule another follow up appointment where he performed fancy imaging on my nose with a camera. Then he had me spray 2 puffs in each nostril once a day, then schedule another follow up appointment where he performed fancy imaging on my nose with a camera. Then he had me spray 1 puff in each nostril twice a day, then schedule another follow up appointment where he performed fancy imaging on my nose with a camera. You get the idea? It took me a while to realize that Victor Strelzow was just stringing me along and has no interest in offering any kind of real solid or actual treatment. He was just interested in chit chatting about sports and other random things, Oh! and of course billing my insurance. I think Victor Strelzow was only interested in scheduling appointments and billing my insurance because to him, I was just a number and healthcare is just about $$$. I saw another doctor who immediately saw what the problem was in my breathing and recommended a turbinate reduction procedure. He performed the turbinate coblation procedure in his office which took less that 15 minutes. My breathing problems went away and I started breathing normally again. In retrospect, I feel cheated and taken advantage of. Victor Strelzow is highly unethical. Avoid at all cost. read more

Came here for a cough that I've had for several years now. When Dr. Strelzow came in, he didn't even ask any questions about it. I felt like he honestly just went off on tangents for 20 minutes or so, about USC and how he is the best ENT in the area because everyone else was once his student before. He recommended some nose spray to me, which I knew was not the solution and said I could come back in 2 weeks for a check up. Was super disappointed because of the good Yelp reviews on here, but it was very deceiving. What was worse is that for being in there for about 25-30 minutes and having someone recommend nose spray to me, it was $400. I am mind blown. Do better research before you go here. read more

CAUTION! Strelzow says he's a specialist but in my opinion he is a FRAUD. I came in because I have a consistent cough from nasal drip for years. This guy was completely rude, condescending, unprofessional, and useless. He would go on random rants when I asked him simple questions. Mentioned USC and Stanford to me for no reason. DID NOT DIAGNOSE ME AND ONLY FED ME BACK INFORMATION I TOLD HIM. At the end of it, he just told me to take Flonase spray (which I told him I've been taking). Had the most amazing experience with Dr. Strelzow. I have had issues with my tonsils for many years but because I do not get strep throat often many ENTs did not consider me as a candidate for a tonsillectomy. Dr. Strelzow took the time to get to know me and really understand the concern with my enlarged tonsils. I am 25 years old and had an amazing tonsillectomy surgery, I had hardly any pain. Dr. Strelzow staff was also amazing both at the surgery facility and within his office. They called to check on me for several days after my surgery and were very caring. He prescribed just the most necessary medicines. Doctor Strelzow decided that I need a surgery he said it to me without any pushing. He described for me few times all pros, cons, risks about surgery like this (restoration of the nasal septum).  All process from surgery to recovery doctor really care about me. Went there for a soar throat due to cold. He has nice staff and they were trying to be helpful when booking the appointment. While some might like Dr Strelzow's attitude, to me it was kinda intrusive and it took a few minutes before he changed his tone to a friendly one! After talking for about 20-30 minutes about politics, schools, nationality, etc. he looked into my throat with a flashlight and then my nose with narrow-head flashlight, then said I have cold and need to rest, and provided me with some diet suggestions. He seemed experienced and knowledgable. But the most negative part appeared later when I received a bill for more than $550 that included two items called laryngoscopy/endoscopy. I thought looking at my throat or nose with a flashlight would have such names, but after checking the items' official CPT codes on their website and also checking the procedures on youtube, I was sure I did not receive any of those procedures. Then later after talking to Leslie, who answers the phone calls to the office, she insisted that I have signed a document at the beginning that says Dr. Strelzow might do such examinations on his patients! After all, I paid the reduced bill by the insurance (~400$) but wanted to share my experience with others. read more

Dr. Strelzow is a Hoag Recommended ENT. My wife Jan was referred to him because of adverse results from two botched sinus surgeries performed by another ENT. Dr. Strelzow took all the time needed to discuss the issues and do a complete nasal examination. He discusses what his thoughts are and welcomes having the patient asking questions. He is highly qualified and dedicated to help resolve problems. Her first visit lasted 45 minutes and second visit 20 minutes. It doesn't get better than that. read more

I came here for nasal congestion that I've had for about 6 months now. When Dr. Strelzow came in, he barely let me explain the issue and didn't seem very concerned with listening or understanding the problem. He spent the majority of the time going off on tangents and working in kudos to himself regarding Stanford and his work. He recommended I try saline solution and steroid nasal sprays such as Flonase and then see an allergist if that doesn't work. Neither the saline or Flonase has been effective and I knew it wouldn't because I have been trying that and it hasn't been effective. He didn't even mention a follow-up. He may have been a good doctor at some point, but I would not waste your time. I found him incredibly off-putting and disappointing. It's not worth the $300 bill to have someone barely allow you to explain the issue and then barely do an examination. He didn't perform a thorough examination, such as a nasal endoscopy, to verify that nothing was an issue deeper in the nose. read more

Do not go to this doctor. I had sinus infection for almost 2 years.i did whent to see him more than 5 times for nothing. Everytime He talked about life and argentinians empanadas for 1:30 hs and 5 minutes for my problem. He was always making jokes about my pronunciation without any respect. He ended it up scheduling a surgery for my debiated septum. Then,3 days before I called him asking for help because i got a virus, lot of congestion. He did call me back saing that my problem was serious. I do not need an ENT, what i need to see is A Dr. for infections desease in LA or an immunologist. He ended the phone call saing: I wish you good luck with your health. Inmediatly i sent copy of the CAT scan to my ENT In Argentina and to Dr. Betsy Yu in Long Beach. They both told me that my problem is my debiation and my turbinates. He is not only rude but also the worst human being i never met. Dr. Strelzow is the best! My husband had oral cancer in 2004 and his excellent care has provided a quality of life that has allowed my husband to continue a normal lifestyle. He is professional, compassionate, and doesn't rush you in and out of his office in 2 1/2 minutes!
