Your appointment is at 10 am and you don't see the doctor until 11 am. They are very bad with time and you get charged for parking

It's with a heavy heart that I have to give a bomb review of this office. It's never a good idea to let the office administrators run wild and act like queen bees. All the good work of Dr Weintraub and the nurse practitioner Rodarte are wasted when somebody in the front desk behaves imperiously and cuts you off when you're in a tight spot. ​​​​​ ​​​​ Dr Weintraub is wonderfully funny and Light and kind. The Nurse Practitioner is great and most of his office staff could be very good too. Having said that, over the years I have noticed that that kind and light and fun way does not translate into some of the office policies that affect my experiences. 1). They prefer the fax machine to relay test orders to Quest instead of emailing. Faxes cannot be verified. I spent 4 hours at a quest waiting for a walk-in appointment (I should have made a reservation as Quest heavily favors appointments these days) and ran into quite the problem as a result of it. The first problem of course not having an order meant that I had to call the doctor's office while I the flambotimist chair. Dr. Weintraubs staff wanted to fax the order again. Juan Carlos the flabatomist at Quest said it would have taken an extra 25 minutes inside the Quest system and they were close to closing time so I asked them to email it which they said they would do. I said please do it right away because there were people waiting for me and some had waited for 4 hours themselves. 2). Queen bees in an office will ruin it for you and for the good doctors and good staff people that are in that office. ​​​ I followed up 5 minutes later when nothing came through and called. Someone picked up and hung up. I called back a third time and got eventually was transferred to Ariel the office worker who helped me reschedule my appointment as I was concerned that the test results would not be back by my original appointment on the 7th. Ariel assumed that I was blaming her for the email not coming through and she was repeatedly talking over me insisting that only a fax authorization was the way that their policy worked..... even though the girl who picked up the phone 5 minutes before said she would email it. Juan Carlos and I rolled our eyes. I asked for her supervisor when she refused to email the order and she said that the supervisor wasn't available and I said I would bomb their office with a bad Yelp review and she freaked out and said, "you're threatening to bomb our office I'm going to hang up the phone on you! ". She then did so and I left a voice message for Dr Weintraub to call me directly if I'm posting this he chose not to do it. L​uckily for me Juan Carlos at Quest was listening the whole time. I am so very disappointed and unhappy with Ariel's Behavior and the general policy of relying on Antiquated fax communication like it's 1968 that I am seriously considering moving to a different urologist after 30 years of ups and downs .....it's a sad ending. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ read more

This guy is the best in area that demands more than just academic language and an MD. He knows how to make a patient feel a lot less discomfort and embarrassment in a very private area of discussion. His office is well organized and the personnel pleasant, and I wish there were more doctors connected to St. Joseph's that could say the same. read more

Dr weintraub may be the best doctor in the world but if he's pushing the Euro lift on you I would think twice according to him it was the best and most convenient procedure I should consider I had it done was absolutely no better at all actually had me wetting my bed for a month after the procedure so it was a complete waste of time and a waste of my insurance companies money and I would avoid yearlift at all costs it's a waste of time and money in my case. had I been told that there was a possibility of zero improvement I would have passed on the procedure but considering my options I thought this was the best alternative, I guess I was wrong. I am worse off for having visited this office than I was before. Which from my understanding is not something that should happen at a Doctor's office. The notes in my file were incorrect for both of my follow up visits. They thought they had given me a treatment which I hadn't received after the first visit. I don't know what's going on here. It was really unprofessional and confusing. Chandrasoma is abrasive and without bed side manner. Weintraub is a nice guy, but I didn't come here to make friends. I now have to return to my primary care physician to see if I'm suffering any side effects from the treatment they gave me. They didn't do any follow up testing and now I'm pretty much on my own as to whether what they did harmed me or not. I'm not sure what to do or where to go now. Dr. Weintraub is straightforward, upbeat and friendly. He's willing to take a few extra minutes to really listen to his patients and to explain why he believes one diagnosis is right over another. We had a few minutes while we both waited for a room to be available and he even told me the story of the bat that got into his living room. It looks like I may not have kidney stones but if I get any more shooting pain at 3 in the morning he encouraged me to give him a call. Doc, you're alright! read more

I saw him at St Joseph hospital and due to my insurance wasn't effective yet for another week I had to get emergency medi-cal. He made feel like I was worthless and basically didn't want to help me remove my lodge kidney stone. And accuse me of not being in pain when I was on morphine with my eyes swollen from crying . He didn't know what side my stone was on. I abruptly left the hospital crying in pain and trying to find help elsewhere. Im sure if you have a PPO he will help you and treat you with respect and dignity Thanks to him I'm never going back there. I advise to find a doctor who cares." read more

This review is for Dr. Philip Weintraub. READ EVERY ONE STAR REVIEW. THEY ARE ACCURATE. CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT RIGHT NOW!!! Dr. Weintraub diagnosed me with a very slow growing small cancerous tumor in my bladder. Standard procedure is to go to St. Joseph's hospital to remove the tumor and flush the bladder out with chemotherapy and then drain the chemo out of my bladder. While fully awake a nurse filled my bladder with Mitomycin (the chemo drug). The pain was indescribable. The nurse acted like I was being a drama queen but said she would get Dr. Weintraub to come see me. Hours went by and he never showed up or even bothered to call. I went home in horrible pain. The next day I called his office and his nurse told me "Don't worry it will pass" I could not stand the pain one more second and my wife drove me to his office. The office could care less about my situation and I insisted I see the doctor. He was positive that this could not possibly be caused by the procedure I had. He basically washed his hands of me. I went across the street to St. Josephs emergency room. I was admitted into the hospital for 24 days. Put on heavy doses of a very strong IV opiate drug dilaudid. After numerous cystoscopies, colonoscopies and a myriad of procedures Dr. Weintraub and a slew of doctors were all dumbfounded. Again everyone denied this had anything to do with my surgery. Until one doctor slipped and mentioned my bladder had been perforated. The hospital and Dr, Weintraub had done their best to hide this fact. I realized that St. Joseph hospital and Dr, Weintraub had flat out lied to me. They just charged my MPIPHP insurance for weeks and lined their own pockets while completely ignoring a human in agony. I transferred to UCLA in Santa Monica and in three days they had done all the tests necessary. They told me what had happened. During surgery Dr. Weintraub had perforated my bladder and when the chemotherapy drug was instilled into my bladder it leaked out into my pelvic floor and like an acid it completely burned everything it touched. The UCLA doctors said there was nothing to do now. The damage had been done. Go home and heal. I was sent home and was completely bedridden unable to stand upright for over a year. The pain of your insides being burned so bad cannot be put into words. I was on a transdermal patch of FENTANYL for over 18 months while all my nerves were regrowing. This ordeal forced me into an early retirement. The withdrawal from the fentanyl was almost as bad as the pain from the burns. Medical procedures can have many complications. A compassionate doctor will really earn their money when things don't go as planned. I cannot fathom just shrugging your shoulders and walking away like this is no big deal. Because of Dr. Weintraub's dismissive attitude to patients suffering I no longer trust any doctor. Hopefully some day you Dr. Weintraub will need some help from a medical professional. When that day comes I hope you get a doctor as uncaring and unsympathetic as you have been to your patients. read more

I give negative stars of this entire Urology associates business if it was possible. Their Dr's have to be the most scam dangerous to your health Drs ive ever seen in my entire life, and im old so yea they are bad and dangerous for your health. BEWARE is all i can honestly stay you were warned if you visit these fruadulent unsafe crazy DR's in this place. They will prescribe drugs, then if you ask what the drugs do or side effects, DR wientraub told me he was to busy to explain medications and I would have to wait 2 months to make another appt ?? Nobody with any brain at all takes drugs without full disclosure to what they do and what side effects and such they can cause. Total quack he is, you have to know exactly where pain and issues are coming from on the body to narrow the points needed to be helped to fix, he is clueless on patient care or manners at all. I told him i had several pain areas, and he said no that one doesn't cause pain ?? He doesn't know what the solutions for it is ?? Urology associates definitely needs to be reported for unsafe medical practice to the medical board and malpractice boards. read more

A simple blood test would've determined I had a tumor on my parathyroid instead he just laughed when I came in at least once a month with a kidney stone. Horrible pain I had to endure with a doctor that should've known there was something wrong. Years of pain that with 1 simple blood test would've said there's something going on. Easy parking, great staff, funny doctor. My primary care physician referred me to Dr. Weintraub for a consultation. I called to make an appointment and the woman that answered the phone was friendly, and got me an appointment the very next day. She told me everything I needed to know, including where to park for my visit. Note: Parking is not validated by their office, but I only paid $4 for a 52 minute visit, so it's not bad. 2 hour street parking is available nearby, but the streets are usually pretty full, so you should give yourself extra time if you want to snag a spot. Once inside, the woman at the front desk was friendly and helpful. Filling out the paperwork was painless, and I was brought to the doctor's room right on time for my appointment. A few minutes later, Dr. Weintraub entered the room immediately cracking jokes and put me at ease. We had a pleasant, friendly conversation and made each other chuckle. He was kind and informative, and made sure I knew everything I needed to know regarding my medical options; I didn't feel he was in a rush to get me out of his office. Avoid this guy: he makes jokes while offering zero care or attention, then charged me for filing an authorization for a prescription. Told this guy the name the doctor who referred me. He'd never heard of her. He told me: If you tell her I don't know her I'll kill you. He said that twice. When I told him my issues, he told me they were "unusual" and showed no other curiosity. His behavior was amped-up and distracted. He seemed to be showing off for his intern. I told him I disliked prostate exams; his response was to be as rough as possible. Then he said: Well, you survived another exam. When we finished he asked: Is there anything else I can't help you with? THEN - his staff took a MONTH to put in my authorization for a prescription. They called today and told me I had to pay a $15 charge for them fill in the authorization!!! I've never had a doctor charge for this. read more

I have lupus and have kidney problems because of it. I routinely have kidney stones and have had sepsis several times because of kidney infections. I went to dr. Weintraub because I had a friend recommend him to me. I ended up in the hospital with an infection and dr weintraub came to my room with a few other doctors and told me nothing was wrong with me and I must just want a vacation. My temperature at the time was 105.3 and I was so miserable that I didn't even respond to him. After I was released from the hospital I had a follow up blood test and I had a VRE virus. The doctor who ordered the blood test was my primary care doctor and he had me go right back to the hospital. I was put in isolation because the virus is extremely contagious. Thankfully I have a ppo and can go to just about any hospital I choose. Naturally I didn't go back to the same hospital that I had just been released from because dr weintraub was too incompetent to run a standard blood test. After 3 more days in isolation I was released from the hospital virus free. I contacted dr weintraubs office to let them know they messed up then I copied my blood test results and mailed them to dr weintraub. I never heard back, of course, but I will never see dr weintraub again. Stay away! He also has horrible time management and is inconsiderate of his patients time. read more

Dr. Weintraub is the greatest, takes his time answers all your questions. I was referred to him for a vasectomy, he made me feel so relaxed it was so easy. Since then he has helped with another condition and has been incredible. Great at making you feel comfortable wether it's just talking to you or telling a joke. This Dr. is the best of the best. This past weekend I started having some discomfort in a "sensitive" area. I was afraid to look my symptoms up online for fear of what I would find. Unfortunately I didn't really have a urologist anymore. I had suffered from some kidney stones about 10 years ago but that Dr. had retired and I had been doing my yearly PSA's with my regular Doctor. I decided to go see Dr. Weintraub because he was close, and after talking to his front office explaining my predicament, they could get me in right away. All the other places couldn't get me in for a week or so. I was a little apprehensive though because he and his office had a couple of reviews on here that were pretty bad. Even though I was worried about my medical condition I almost didn't go because of them. I'm serious.....I was literally in the parking garage thinking, "maybe I should wait until next week when Dr. soandso can see me"........Well let me tell you what a mistake that would've been. Dr Weintraub was FANTASTIC!! He did a thorough (and I do mean thorough) exam and IMMEDIATELY put me at ease after, telling me that what I was experiencing was not at all serious. He was friendly, personable, and most importantly, KIND.......telling me that he was not at all worried. As I was leaving I started to get angry at the people who had left the reviews slamming him and his office. Now I know that everyone is entitled to their opinion, and that we're all different. I'm just telling you that he and his staff were first rate and treated me like I was the most important person there. read more

Dr. Weintraub is a medical un-professional. After my experience with him, I was left thinking: oh, I get it, this man must have entered the medical profession ironically. This is the only way that his existence as a doctor made sense to me. Dr. Weintraub does not care at all about the well-being of his patients. He is notoriously late to appointments and, yes, even to surgeries. I had kidney stones, and was admitted into a nearby hospital. Dr. Weintraub was the doctor assigned to perform the kidney stone removal surgery. My surgery was scheduled for 11: 30 a.m., but did not get underway until a little after 10 p.m. Among the reasons given for the delay: Dr. Weintraub was stuck in traffic. When he finally did perform the shockwave lithotripsy, the kidney stone, unfortunately, did not break into pieces as it should have. He scheduled a follow-up appointment the next week. When I arrived at his office, I waited over 45 minutes. WIth the experience of having to wait for Dr. Weintraub an entire day without food or water still fresh in my memory, I went to the front desk to inquire about his whereabouts. I was told that, oops, he had forgotten about me. He returned to tell me that he would have to perform the procedure a second time, but only if my health insurance plan was one that his practice would accept. Fair enough. After having his office staff double-check their coverage policies later that day, he had one of them call me and let me know that, in fact, he could not perform the procedure a second time. Great, I was relieved that I'd never have to deal with him again, except: the tube that he had inserted inside my ureter during the first lithotripsy procedure was still inside my ureter. But, if it does not translate into dollar signs, Dr. Weintraub does not care. He told me the removal of the tube was no longer his problem, and that was the end of that. When I finally had it removed (by someone else), I learned that it was a very simple, 3 second procedure. Apparently, in Dr. Weintraub's moral universe, it is acceptable practice to turn someone away with a surgical tube still lodged inside their body - a tube that he, himself, had inserted. Seriously, Dr. Weintraub? Dr. Weintraub is clearly not someone who entered the medical profession to save lives, or even to do the bare minimum to ensure the well-being of others. If you have any choice in the matter, avoid Dr. Weintraub at all costs. read more

Dr. Philip Weintraub was recommended to my husband. My husband liked his bed side manner very much. Fast forward to December, 2017 after being hospitalized in October, 2017 for sepsis wherein my husband was placed in a coma to save him. At that time, we were also advised that my husband had kidney stones that needed to be removed. After a 12 day stay in the hospital of which 6 days were in ICU, we were advised to schedule the surgery for stones removal in December. My husband had that surgery and felt much worse than after his prior release from the hospital. That first surgery was a lithotripsy where they pound away with ultra sound shock waves. His kidneys had already been through so much in October that one would think the method should be considered beforehand. Weintraub also put a stent in when my husband was hospitalized for sepsis again in August, 2019. The week it was to be removed (December, 2019), the doctor's method was to do laser surgery on the stones (a less invasive procedure). 3 days prior to surgery I spoke with Weintraub's surgery center and left a message for Vivian in his office stating that we had just learned of another bladder infection and wanted to cancel the surgery. The surgery center passed the buck to call his office. I had to call Vivian again the following day. She told me that my husband would be fine to do the surgery. I indicated that I was concerned about him going septic. She said "don't worry, he'll be fine". We showed up for surgery. I was still telling the nurse when walking him down to the surgery room that I still didn't think he should be doing the surgery. At that point, the doctor showed up (late I might add). I expressed my concerns and he just told the nurse "take him in the back. He'll be fine"! They said it would take a couple of hours. It turned into 5 hours, way too much anesthesia to the point that he was convulsing. He was 95 lbs when he went in for surgery. The following day he wound up in the ER septic again. He was admitted for a 6 day stay of which 4 days were in ICU. I am rating his care at zero! Unfortunately I have to put one on here to post. read more

So went to him for a test. Got the bloodwork done....waited to hear from him...nothing...called about results...office said they can't find results..check back in a week. Checked back in a week...they found, but no info on the results...they'll call me....another week, no call from them...called back...oh, we're not sure....we'll call you...nothing...called again...."I will make sure the doctor's nurse will call you tomorrow!" Three days later still no call...call back...brief chat with nurse...should I come in? If you want....Yeah, I want to know what the F my results mean!..saw a different doctor who was nice, but could've told me over phone and saved me a co-pay. I have been to Dr. Weintraub's practice a few times, and each time it has been an excellent experience. Dr. Weintraub is thoughtful, thorough, adept, and friendly. The staff is caring and helpful. Everyone goes above and beyond, including the doctor. When I discovered that I had an issue that need to be take care of before I left for a vacation, they speeded me through the process to get me into surgery in time so that I could still travel. Dr. Weintraub is one in a million, and so is his staff. read more

My husband would have been on dialysis for the last 3 years had we taken the advice of this doctor. He assumed tumors were malignant with no biopsy and strongly recommended against having any. He said it would spread the cancer throughout his body. He only does robotic surgery. Dangerous and extreme for kidneys. His second opinion recommendation was Dr. Gerhard Fuchs at Cedars Sinai who agreed with his treatment proposal. Thank God, one of our neighbors is an oncologist who strongly suggested we speak with Dr. Robert Smith of UCLA. All tumors were found to be benign at that time and now, 3 years later. Dr. Weintraub told us the chance of them being benign were 3%. 15% to 20% is a more accurate number. read more

I wish I could give negative stars. This is the WORST patient care I have EVER received in my entire life. Dr. Weintraub should not be allowed to practice medicine. I went to see him for possible kidney stones. Every office visit felt rushed and he acts like he has a God complex. He took very little time to ask me questions or explain things to me. Turned out I had two kidney stones and I had surgery to remove them. He showed up 1.5 hours late to the surgery center and never explained or apologized for his tardiness. At that point there were no anesthesiologists available because they were in other surgeries that were scheduled after mine. After another 45 minutes I finally got wheeled into the procedure room. He never came to see me before I was put under and never came to see how I was doing after. He never left a prescription for pain medication either. I woke up uncomfortable and in pain and because he never took any time to talk to me I wasn't expecting that. I cried the entire night and wasn't able to sleep. The next day when I called his office to ask for pain medication they said that someone had to come pick it up since it was a narcotic prescription. No problem. My sweet husband had to leave work to go get it and when he arrived at the office, there was no prescription!!!!! It's bad enough that the doctor himself has no bedside manner and no compassion, but his staff need to be chased after as well. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! read more

Dr. Weintraub is great. He is exactly what you'd want from any doctor. He's intelligent, caring , humerous, knowledgable and attentive. He's performed a vasectomy on me and made it as smooth as possible and I must say a sense of humor helped in that one. A little while later we dealt with some possible prostate issues.
