This review is based on the experience I had with Dr. Frydman during the last appointment ever with him. Now I see why his rating is only 3 stars and some say he is a bad doctor. The appointment was to have an ultrasound done. I was called into the room and was prepared for the ultrasound, including putting the gel on me. The assistant said to wait and walked out. After waiting for a long time, no one stepped back in to say it was going to take longer or what was going on. I called the receptionist because I didn't want to get off the table with gel already on my body, and I was the last patient of the day. She said he would be going into the room. The doctor came in shortly with the assistant. The minute he came in, the doctor was with attitude, talking down on me and telling me I just had to wait without saying anything. I told him how long I was waiting and that I had a right to ask what was going on. He then, without apologizing and angrily, said in the doctor's office, "You need to wait; that's it." I just got up and told him I would be filing a complaint. He said it didn't matter if I did; the complaint wouldn't do anything, and there would be no response to it. As I walked out, I told him he was a bad doctor, which seemed to have finally woken him up to realize they were wrong. He then angrily said, "You are a bad patient; get out of my office." It's sad to have a doctor and staff with so much unprofessionalism that they feel entitled and the patients don't have the right to ask why the wait is so long. Based on this experience, I strongly don't recommend this doctor or his office staff. Nowadays we have rights as patients too and platforms like this one and others to write reviews to let other patients know of the type of service this doctor and the staff are providing. We have rights that some entitled doctors and staff think we don't. I encourage other patients that have bad experiences to write reviews based on those experiences so doctors and staff start showing professionalism again. It's not about the long time waiting without anyone letting me know why; it's about the doctor coming in with a bad attitude, talking down to me as if he were entitled and no patient could ask what's going on, and unprofessional staff thinking they are entitled too and patients have to accept bad treatment. read more

After much consideration, we regretfully have to give Dr. Howard Frydman's OFFICE the score of D-. Which requires further clarification. Dr. Frydman himself is a caring, attentive Dr but it is his OFFICE which is a chaotic disaster. Dealing with his OFFICE personnel regarding anything beyond setting an appointment is an exercise in futility. The office manager L, promised to get back to me with an explanation of a credit card payment issue and she never did. I called repeatedly and was told she was not available, and finally, I was just hung up on! Like WTF? Then there's their sloppy record-keeping. I was suddenly presented with an invoice for services that were YEARS OLD with no explanation. Pay these charges or it will go into collection. Like WTF? Further requests for explanation, went nowhere. I have NEVER run into an office as frankly HOSTILE to their own patients, as Dr. Frydman's. Inexplicable. I don't know if he is aware of this, or cares, because I am unable to contact him personally - all requests to speak to him well....have to go through his office. So there. HELLO, I AM YOUR PATIENT HERE! My recommendation is that you seek medical services elsewhere other than Dr. Frydman's office unless you want to be thrown into a black hole with no exit by his uncaring office staff. read more

Howard C. Frydman saved my life. After seeing my GP about a new lump at my side and having the US, CT and MRI that detected the anechoic mass which proved to be my kidney not a kidney anymore but a perfect example of Renal Cell Carcinoma that was getting close to killing me. The cancer was too big to do laparoscopic surgery so I have a scar from sternum to pubis and kept alive by machines for five hours while Doctor Frydman skillfully worked on me and was even able to save my adrenal gland. Thirteen weeks later I ran my first LA MARATHON that I had been training for when I noticed the growth. He is a skilled craftsman and the one you want on your team and I am eternally grateful for being able to enjoy my runs. I Just did the 2024 Screenland 5K and still in the top ten for males 70+. Husband tried to schedule a vasectomy but had to go under due to anxiety. Office scheduled an in office one, although we told them, while we were in the office, it had to be under anesthesia. They assured me they would switch it to our face. We called the week before the date they had initially gave us to make sure he WASN'T scheduled for an in office procedure. Turns out they never cancelled it or scheduled the surgery center appointment. They told me they would and call us back. We called 2 months later and was told they weren't informed and the next available spot was in late October, which happened to be when we were out of town. They told us they would call when they got the new availability schedule. That was mid October and still no update. He was definitely forgotten about. We gave up on this place to the point where I decided I might as well get permanent birth control. We gave this office the benefit of doubt but the reviews are accurate. Decided it was finally time for "The Snip", so set-up a consultation, which went well, and then scheduled the procedure which was done in-house. Obviously, this decision isn't made lightly, but assume many men back out or drain themselves mentally in the lead up, but I just wanted it over so I could get back to my outdoor activities. Getting into the room, dropping your pants and essentially plopping yourself up onto the table is as close as a man will get to having a Pap Smear. It's physically and literally a moment, if it were in a movie, that all guys would shudder at the thought of a knife near your goods. They tell you to bring music to listen too, and I brought some, but didn't really use it as I was chatting with the Dr. and nurse (which is also strange because you know your marble sack is split open) Just have fun with it, because honestly, there is nearly ZERO pain. Even when the needle punched through the marble sack, was more reactionary than pain, it just caught me off guard. You feel a twinge when he clamps a marble off and see a puff of smoke from cauterizing, but you feel nothing, and then it's over. There really was almost no pain during the procedure or after during the recovery; this will vary between individuals, but honestly, it was a very simple, pain-free procedure for me personally. I'm not really sure how to review this doctor. I had a little problems getting my records over from my general practitioner. The staff waited for the same day of my appointment to let me know they had not received my reports. So last minute I was back and forth with my doctor office trying to get my reports over to them. The front desk was very friendly! As was the nurse/MA (?) who took my vitals. Dr Frydman himself is not a man of many words. I didn't leave feeling any better off, still baffled about a gut pain and was told to just redo a CAT scan in four months. So we'll see what happens in 4 months I guess. *side note not affecting star rating but frustrating for any person wanting to park in the structure.. There are only 17 handicap parking spaces for two very large medical buildings. 5 on first floor, 6 on second and third floor and none on the fourth floor. There is NO ELEVATOR on the 4th floor! So disabled people need to walk down a sketchy flight of stairs to get to the elevator on the 3rd floor. Max parking cost is $9. Or $1 every 15 minutes. Doctors office didn't not validate! read more

Each patient is different and he recommended only one method for a cure for a disease. Most doctors that I know will work with their patients. Office receptionist is disrespectful uneducated and worthless. First she gives a medical advise over the phone to take catheter out of bladder, without inspection of a patient , and without having even a right to advise something like that. This is akin to medical malpractice. Then she refuses to make appointments although the insurance company confirmed twice the authorization. Third , they've been keeping the patient (With a catheter in her) on a low heat for 10 days only to discover that apparently they don't accept the insurance, while in fact that do. Super competent surgeon with a funny sense of humor. Handles really difficult cases. Went to him for a consultation. I did not end up needing surgery but if I did, I would absolutely go to him. I know several nurses that have worked with him in the operating room and they tell me he is an amazing surgeon. I also know a few doctors that refer their patients to him because they think he's the best surgeon. The office is run by a bunch of middle aged bitchy women who have no business making decisions about weather YOU are important enough or urgent to be helped or seen by the Dr. It's almost an effort for them to help I see him regularly for v v health. I needed basic pills for a uti and ladies we know that can be hell and I'm juggling work and a toddler. I dont have time for office bs and bitchiness. just help me out so I can get through my work week. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops. Office bitch decided they were too busy and had too many patients and basically I wasn't peeing blood so I'm not important right? that's really not my problem that they take too many patients. I called again and said I want to speak with the dr now .. all of a sudden I get basic amox ready for pick up within an hour. The dr himself is a lovely kind man with great manners and has a joyful fun personality, but good luck getting past the witches at the front desk. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR. Please avoid Howard Frydman if you can. About a month ago, my family member was referred to this doctor by our PCP. After doing a virtual consultation, the doctor wanted to do some in-office testing. Because of COVID, his office was closed for the time being. They said we could get the tests done somewhere else or wait until they open back up. We asked to get the tests done somewhere else because the pain was bad but they insisted we wait a few weeks to do them in their office when they reopen. Because of our insurance, we waited... After doing the in-office tests, they put him on antibiotics for 10 days and said to contact them if nothing changes. Nothing got better. So we contacted the doctor... who told us to FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR. I don't know about you, but I've never heard of a doctor quit so easily on a patient. It's kind of pathetic to be honest. Long story short, we ended up in the Emergency room yesterday because the pain was so bad. After an ultrasound (which Frydman did in his office btw... and said there was nothing wrong :l ) and CAT scan of his bladder, the ER doctors found the problem and he will be having surgery to fix the issue this week. The ER doctors were absolutely shocked when we told them what happened with Frydman because what they found is such a common occurrence in people. Look, I'm not the type of person who goes around giving 0 stars to businesses on Yelp. I'm writing this as a service to patients in hopes that they read this and simply find another doctor. If I could give this doctor 0 stars I would. Definitely letting our PCP know and hopefully, he won't refer people to him anymore. read more

He went the extra mile to help me while the other two I mention above looked the other way while my health was declining rapidly. If I could give zero stars I would! I called your office twice and explained my situation to two different nurses within 48 hours with NO phone call back! I was in the ER with TWO stones, one 10 millimeter and one 5 millimeter SITTING in my right kidney that caused me extreme pain and bleeding! I was in desperate need of a lithottripsy but your office gave less than 2 shits! I finally called a real urologist who CALLED me back immediately and actually freaking cared! Dr Frydman is an absolutely horrible Doctor who does not make his patience feel comfortable and does not keep good medical records at all. Not only is VERY impersonal, but he also is not very knowledgable in his own field of study which makes no sense. He gave me some information on my condition, and then never recorded it in my medical records and later changed the information entirely. I had to call for over a month to get anyone to respond to send me my medical records. I eventually had to get my lawyer to get the records for me, which is ridiculous. The entire front office is incompetent and rude, with the exception of one woman who was helpful because she felt bad for me. I absolutely do not recommend this doctor to anyone or the office. I should've saw the two stars that this office received from Google reviews and the 2 1/2 stars from Yelp before I decided to see this doctor. So frustrating and unprofessional! read more

Useless doctor and staff. I had to call 4 times to get the lab results. You get a different answer depending on who you talk to. The first 3 times I called, Nancy said, "the doctor will call you back after they contact Quest Diagnostic for the results. " The 4th time I called, Lisa said, "we got the results 3 weeks ago. " Nurse Mandy said, "we told you the results already. " Dr. Frydman said, "you have HMO and I have a lot of patients...i don't remember what I did yesterday. When I arrived I waited for a least an hour, then when they showed me the room and I could hear the Dr. Howard on the phone with his gardener for about 20 min, he wouldn't answer my questions and now I have a prescriptions for I don't know what, and I don't know how to avoid getting it again! I would've have given him 10 stars if I could. He is well known doctor with a good reputation and many years of experience. Dr. Frydman is an amazing doctor and specialist. He performed prostate/ bladder surgery on my dad on 12/12/12 and he has not had any problems ever since. He is very sweet man and spent time with my dad and I explaining every detail of his medical problem. I will never forget when he squeezed my dad in for urgent surgery under his busy schedule and st. Easily the worst experience I've ever had. I've been dealing with excruciating kidney stones, and this doctor offered zero solutions. A cat scan from the er showed the location, I had to remind him twice that I had one. An X-ray was ordere, and there were no answers. A third visit, one that I had to call twice for because I didn't receive a reply to my voicemail warranted no answers. Today, I went in at my scheduled appointment time, and he was gone for the day. Dr Frydman was a Godsend after repeated UTI's. I originally went to Sherry Thomas and she was a nightmare!! He was very attentive to my ailments and spent considerable time with me explaining his directives. He has an excellent sense of humor and when I needed to return back to Illinois he referred me to Mayo Clinic. I am not sure what happened in the previous review but that's not the Dr Frydman I saw! Could not possibly have cared less about my condition. Tested for ONE thing and then concluded that, because those results came back negative, there was nothing wrong with me. Well I can tell you that there is, in fact, something very wrong, but Dr. Frydman wasn't interested in working to figure out what that was. He literally used the phrase "and that's that" on the phone with me to indicate he wasn't going to work further to get me the help I need. Oh, and those results I mentioned? I had to call the office Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and the following Monday before FINALLY getting results on Tuesday. The results had long since been ready, but the girl on the phone would say "I'll have Dr. Frydman call you back today with your results" and then never would. And each day I would call, they would tell me I would receive a call, and I would not. How hard is it to write a note to remind yourself to have the doctor call with results? How difficult is it to follow up with a patient to see if they got a phone call? When I was in the office, the nurses were all chatting about personal stuff and laughing...but now you're too busy to make sure your office did your job? Give me a break. I just chanced to see the review of Dr. Frydman by Jeanette S. While I am in no position to judge why she had such problems with Dr. Frydman, he has been my Urologist for the last 15 years (or so) and I have never had the type of experience that she relates. Please understand that I am NOT saying that she is wrong. It just happens that my experience with him has been totally favorable. I have suffered from kidney stones for the last 45 years. If i said here how many stones I have had, I would not be believed. Suffice it to say that I have had so may stones that I was contemplating building a house with them (joke). I have found Dr. Frydman to be pleasant, efficient and entirely effective in doing his job. I have no reason to doubt Jeanette's story about his gardener. But, as to her not understanding what he was doing, not knowing why she was prescribed the medications that were prescribed, based on my experience I would have to chalk that up to her not asking questions. In all of the many, many, many conversations that I have had with him over the years I have never found him to be unwilling to explain everything to me in detail. I have never found him unwilling to spend as much time with him as I felt I needed in order to insure that I know what's going on with my kidneys and urinary tract. I will also say that her experience of sitting in his waiting room for an extended period rings absolutely true. But I chalk that up as evidence that what I have said about his willingness to spend time with a patient is true. I wonder if Jeanette had ever told Dr. Frydman DIRECTLY about her dissatisfaction, or if she just went ahead and posted her review. As a 67 year old male, it is no surprise that I have increasing difficulties with my plumbing. Dr. Frydman will be performing a re-pipe of certain parts of my plumbing in a few weeks. If I did not have complete faith in him I can guarantee you that I would never let him take on suc. a procedure. Despite my age, I still need to have that particular portion of my anatomy functioning properly. But, in order to be completely fair, if I survive the procedure I will post another, updated review.
