Another update! Today we went nuts and ordered the Meat Combo Appetizer AND our own entrees. The…read moreappetizer was so much fun: 2 Egg Rolls, 2 Crab Puffs, 2 Shrimp Tempura, 2 Beef Kabobs, 2 BBQ Ribs. The egg rolls are huge, crispy, and not the least bit greasy. The shrimp tempura is light and crisp. The beef kabobs are well flavored and cooked crispy, which is an interesting and yummy presentation, The ribs are large and flavorful. The crab puffs are amazing! We could have eaten ten of them; a crisp outside is stuffed with a melting cheesy crab mixture. Divine! House -made Chinese mustard (so good and really clears out the sinuses!) and sweet dipping sauces completed the appetizers. I've reviewed our entrees before and they are as delicious as always. I had the Three Delight Moo Shu, a platter filled with fresh vegetables, shrimp, and chicken; accompanied by sauce (hoisin?) and rice pancakes. I enjoy making my little "burrito" bites! My dining friend had the Mongolian Three Delight; shrimp, chicken, and beef prepared with at least three kinds of onions and a mildly spicy sauce, and a large bowl of rice. My friend has a spice-loving palate, and was brought a bowl of hot chili sauce. Visible pepper flakes floated in the sauce and it was pronounced perfect. I love being greeted by name and the food is scrumptious. Golden House is immaculate throughout and it is a pleasure to visit and enjoy their food. See you next month, Ming!

Busy on a Weds 330PM shortly after doors open, after 2 days off, but understand it fills up even own the patio and after tasting you'll know why :) Fine dusted parm topped a zesty house dressed $13 Caesar that was pre-split for sharing. House croutons need more of a blast in that wooded oven to crisp up as they were limp and doughy but still polished off the greens. 4/5* Love me some Mortadella and hard to find on menus even in an Italian Grinder here, so my focus lasered in on Tony Balona $18 with Burrata, smoked mozz (didn't taste any smoke) and pistachio dust (very minimal at center, wah), thick swirls of pistachio pesto and switched red sauce for garlic oil, a thin simple sauce. Pistachio not really noticeable in pesto or dust, I really enjoyed my pie, though its not as complex tasting as you might believe. Dough with it's black blisters definitely shines. 5/5* Hub's Classic Pepperoni $17 was flooded in lil' crispy cups; devoured! Happy Hour Bonus 3-6P weekdays, $2 off Appys incl our Salad. $10 cocktails ($6 off!) and $6 Drafts & house wines. Beechwood Brewing centraholic West Coast IPA 7% ABV, a Golden hoppy entry with med bitter to end, Light body and lasting Creamy head was a great pizza accompaniment, as was a regular vs White Negroni on menu. Had an herbal syrup less bitter front than a typical in your face Campari sip. Service was efficient. Water carafe to table on seating. Sure hope they save the water left over given the constant desert shortage, as we only drank 1/3 due to our ABV glasses. On Penelope return, I'll fight to try the fresh pasta unless the Dough menu punches me into submission again! Haha

We found out that they have "team service" which explains why you can see servers are all over the place. Regardless, They were all nice and very welcoming. Place has plenty of seating. We ordered a Caesar salad, spaghetti meatball, cheese pizza, OTC pizza and the Jackie luna. Everything was flavorful, our experience would have been better if we were able to get in and out a little quicker.

But squeeze right in to the little lot for lunch and prepare to leave happy! What's to love: Oh wow, they have lunch combos on weekends. That's rare nowadays! And their sides are a little bit different--instead of regular fried rice, they've got BBQ pork rice to accompany your dish. I was really hesitant, but that stuff is delicious. I had some with crispy orange beef--which was perfectly tenderized on the inside and crispy on the outside. If that sounds too rich for you, rest assured there are a dozen vegetarian-friendly combos as well. Service is kind, food comes out fast, and you can overhear happy long-time regulars raving about their food like they're discovering it for the first time. There are a ton of nondescript Chinese restaurants in town, and Ba-Dar is one of the better choices.

The fact is, unless I'm in a restaurant where there's roasted duck, pork, or chicken hanging from hooks, the expectation for "authentic" Chinese food is low. Ba-Dar was a surprising hit closer to the authentic side of the scale. The staff was super friendly and made it a point to connect with my wife and I as well as our kids. The three dishes and one appetizer we ordered came out quickly and was enough to feed our party with leftovers. I probably won't make it a point to come by the next time I'm passing through town but Ba-Dar was an enjoyable experience for tourists and locals alike. Enjoy!

First, let me tell you about our server Jules. She was delightful. She had an open friendly manner but was also efficient and got her job done. She even promised to revive me if the walnuts weren't on the side as requested. My companion started with a triple berry cream soda. It was very pretty and not too sweet. We split the baked brie which comes with a variety of tasties on the plate- walnuts (served on the side as requested), artfully sliced applesauce, a balsamic reduction and then off course the beautiful baked brie (two of the little ones cut in half). My companion then had the barbecue bacon burger and said the bacon was the most tender she'd ever eaten. She also complemented the chipd because often house-made chips are very very hard and these were crisp without being hard to bite. I had the short rib philly. I have learned over the years that if short rib is on the menu and I don't get it, I am disappointed. This would have been one of those times. Now to be fair, I am a Philly girl and this was not really a Philly steak, but it was delicious- they should just name it something else. We were excited about dessert, but we were so pleasantly full afterwards that we decided to save their parfait style desserts for next time, because as Donkey says in Shrek " Know what else everybody likes? Parfaits!" Thanks Jules and Tandem for ushering in the weekend in a lovely way!
