Rancho Rustico was such a nice surprise! The staff was super friendly and the mango margaritas were delicious. We sat in the bar area with TVs on and basketball playing, which made for a really fun atmosphere. Our combo plates were great. I loved that the refried beans were served in a mini tostada, and the verde enchiladas were really flavorful. Portions were just right. Really good Mexican food and a fun evening. We happened to be in the area and hungry so we stopped in for lunch. We live on the extreme opposite side of town (nearly an hour away) but when we left we said it was worth the drive to go back again because it was that good! We were brought chips and salsa and when we asked if they had a spicy salsa, they brought us a habanero salsa that was really delicious! I ordered the shrimp tacos and my husband had the shrimp fajitas. The portions were huge and the shrimp was plentiful in both dishes. The shrimp was perfectly cooked too which is a pet peeve of ours that often times shrimp is way overcooked! We both really thought the dishes we ordered were absolutely scrumptious. We had amazing service from our server David! He answered our questions on the menu and was prompt with the refills of our drinks. It is a nice, welcoming restaurant that is clean. read more

Stopped for a late lunch. Great special...2 potato tacos for $10.50 and it came with rice and beans. It was good, but it does need a sauce on it. The hubby got the super nachos at $9.60 a plate. They have Happy Hour every day so I also ordered a house margarita at $6.95. The place is big inside, plenty of seating. I didn't realize I haven't rated this GREAT Far Southeast Mexican restaurant! I have been coming here for several years, it is also a go to place for my family to meet up. They are located at the NW corner of Old Vail Road/Mary Anne Cleveland and Houghton. Tight parking when busy, but they have handicap entrances and parking. I use this location not only for family gatherings, but also for catering. They are very friendly and prepare everything perfecto! They have a full bar with lots of drink specials, including early morning Mimosas and Bloody Mary. I love coming here for the Menudo and my wife loves the Pollo con Creme, The Chimis, Burros, and tacos are also amazing. They have lunch specials to order from as well. Most come with refried beans and rice, but you can ask for ranch beans. My family also LOVES their Mango Chicken Salad which is a great light fare, and can be a special order for catering. There is bar seating, open table, booths and outdoor seating as well, with TV's located in select areas. Great for groups. Restrooms are usually clean. Don't sit outside on summer days, but they try to cool with fans. Fills up for dinner so call for a reservation. They also have happy hours. read more

Fast service, friendly staff, and yummy food! We had a late dinner here after we made it into town and it was still pretty busy on Friday night. We were seated right away and chips and salsa were dropped off as we were putting in our drink orders. I ordered the chicken flautas and my mom and sister shared the molcajete which came with shrimp, meat, and chicken. Everything was delicious and cooked well. It all had flavor and portions were great. The salsa was delicious and the sauce the molcajete had was so yummy. Will be back when in the area! read more

We used to go here very often, but it seems they've switched their ingredients. Nothing tastes as good as it did before, and has a bulk food supply flavor as opposed to fresh and authentic. Service was good though, and the ambience is calm. read more

We were visiting Saguaro National Park and camping in the Tucson area when we found this restaurant on-line. My wife and I shared a Molcajete Trio for two. This dish comes with beef, chicken and shrimp. It was delicious! Our server Alan was very attentive. The host, and other staff also made us feel very welcomed. Took my husband for his bday and it was a new place he wanted to try so we went and our food came out and looked so good and my husband was saying how good it tasted and when I was looking at his food at the side of my eye I seen something move and in his rice which he had NOT touched yet thank god were 2 bugs. We called a waiter over and he took his plate and when he came back out he said it was a bug from the a/c! And then the waitress came out and said it was fruit flies!!! After that we lost our appetite and told them we did not want another plate!! so my thing was if it were fruit flyes there has to be more in the kitchen and if it was from the a/c there has to be more also!! We were so disappointed cause the food did look good and for the first bite we took it tasted good but the bug was a deal breaker. Everything about this place deserves five stars across the board. The food is amazing, the staff are very welcoming/friendly, and the ambiance is perfect. It has a rustic/barn house look to it with plenty of seating ranging from table tops, bar stools, booths, and regular chair. They also have plenty of outside seating. They get you in, take your order, and the food is out in no time. They give you a lot of food for a reasonable price and offer happy hour deals on a daily. It's too bad we live in Phoenix because we would be here all the time. Would definitely make a trip from Phoenix to Tucson just for the food. read more

From outside, it's a cute place with lots of parking spaces. Big space with a hip decor. The reason why I gave low rating was because the restaurant felt dirty. Floor was very messy (maybe they had a busy lunch and didn't have time to clean? - I walked in around 2-3ish) also the dessert menu was so sticky too. It just didn't feel clean overall. Food on the other hand was decent. I had mini chimis and they were surprisingly good. I've never had chimis before so I don't have anything to compare to though. Redried beans were okay. Definitely have had better before! As for guac, the flavor was good but I personally like my guac with more chunks of avocado. That's probably a personal preference. read more

Food looks good but lacks flavor. My husband and I were excited to finally try this place as we don't have too many restaurants out this way. Our server was super friendly, food came very quick so no issues with service. But outside of the salsa nothing had much flavor. I had the enchiladas and my husband had the rancho rustico special. Maybe other items are better? We said we may come back just for drinks and chips one day but the food was pretty blah... Ambiance was cool. However The bathrooms need some deep cleaning. There was a lot of grime in the sinks and crevices throughout the room. Didn't really feel clean for such a semi new place. Hopefully people have better luck with the food than we did. We stopped in here for lunch on 4/9/26. We were only the 4th table so low business this particular day. The music was exceptionally loud...like you find in a bar at happy hour with more guests...not at noon lunch restaurant. I nicely asked hostess if she would please turn it down. She did but so minimally, it did not help. Luckily I keep earplugs handy. I put them in. About 5-10 minutes later, someone else turned it down. Food was fine but attitude I felt from asking about making music a level that we could chat over made the experience a bit uncomfortable. Please businesses, stop blasting music! I could literally scrape what it was off with my nail Needless to say, I didn't eat it. It looked like it hasn't been cleaned in a week. Mirror dirty, garbage all over the floor and dead bugs. Neither one of the hand dryers worked. Food came - the fajitas tasted like they had teriyaki on them. Couldn't eat it. Too sweet and not hot. Hubby loved the rice and beans and enjoyed his enchiladas. They are good at refilling drinks. They don't seem to make things homemade. I ordered a chimichanga and it didn't even look like a real tortilla and the taste was from frozen. I have retried it several more times and I give up. We tried this restaurant our first week in town after a relocation move. We were craving Mexican food. The place was busy but we were seated promptly and served chips & salsa along with water. We ordered drinks first. I had the shredded beef chimichanga and we split a cheese crispy. Everything was great, beans, rice, chimichanga, and crispy. The restaurant had a nice vibe to it, clean and inviting. The staff was very friendly and kind. Our order was presented exactly as we ordered it. My only "con" was the prices. One beer, ice tea, chimichanga entree and cheese crispy was $48 before tip. I know pries are higher these days, but for the size of the dishes, this was higher than most other places. Overall, great, but the reason for the rating I gave was the high prices. We will return. read more

The progression of my opinion of Rancho is interesting over the last years or so. The last few visits we've made here have been okay. I love that they are very clean inside with solid service. The prices and food are what have shifted my opinion over time. Prices have gone up, which is fine given recent inflation, but so much so in comparison to what you receive on the plate. This last visit did it for me on triggering an update, when I ordered the chicken/mango salad. Be aware, I am about to rant about lettuce. The description touted romaine lettuce/spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes (and of course chicken and mango) There was ZERO spinach, and the lettuce was green leaf not romaine. While you are probably thinking, 'what the hell lady, getting crazy over lettuce?' I will point out that I ordered the salad for nutritional value and the lettuce they have advertised on the menu both have nutritional content, but as we all know green leaf is a step up from iceberg. I did say something to the server, who at first seemed a bit annoyed (WTH?) but then went back and got me a plate of spinach to mix in. I then quickly realized half of the salad (ordered the large size) were all the stem pieces of the head of lettuce, AND included the actual lettuce core that you cut off and toss in the trash. For $15.45 I expected maybe more cucumber (6 thin slices) and of course the right lettuce. Perhaps this is what I get for ordering a salad in a Mexican Restaurant! read more

Horrible street tacos. Ordered pastor tacos, comes with five. Welp once I got them home, felt more like pineapple tacos. Absolutely horrible honestly. Who wants pineapple with their tacos can't even get a refund bc they're closed now and we live a ways away. Enjoyed a spontaneous visit here this past Sunday with my husband. We sat on the patio and had courteous service and yummy food. I almost skipped over the Mexican stir fry thinking "what is that?!"
