Agree with other reviews, it could use a little more work on food. It is a casino venue, but for a place pushing a steak house and upscale venue, it is struggling a little bit. If you're in the mood for a steak or have resort credit it is a great venue for that. No complainants on the wine and drinks menu or the sides and desert. The steak cuts are great but the cooking of them is not the best. Wait staff was nice and accommodating for our party of six. read more

We usually take a trip to the casino every month. Phillip M is one of the finer dining options at the casino. Our last trip there was a disappointment. I ordered my usual Philip M salad that pairs really well with their house vinaigrette dressing, only this time the dressing recipe had change, it was not good. I also ordered their baked oysters. When it arrived at our table, it smelled horrid! It was so bad that I had to push it to the far end of the table then had the waitress take it away. We weren't charged for it. But still in a restaurant of this caliber, something like that should've never left the kitchen! I also had the onion soup which was overly salty. Something was definitely off compared to our past visits. We asked and discovered that the chef changed. Pearl River Resort needs to revamp their entire hotel dining line-up. All of the dining outlets basically serve standard American fare, with Mama 'n' Em featuring southern style cooking. When they first opened Golden Moon hotel, there was an authentic Japanese sushi and hibachi restaurant. Too bad Mississippi wasn't ready for cultured cuisine at the time (and maybe even still), sadly it's long gone. The resort has great potential, but there are so many little things that are off or inconsistent when it comes to basically everything. The only reason why we keep returning to PRR is because of the comps that we receive. read more

An absolutely fabulous place! The steak was as good as any Morton's but what set this steakhouse apart is the service, it reminds me of the Old Homestead in New York. Drinks, appetizers, salads and entrees all served with out disturbing anything. We've eaten there at least 10 times over the years. Ask for Angela the best!! read more

Came here on Friday at 5:20. Despite empty restaurant we were told without reservations we would have to sit at bar. This is supposedly fine dining with white table cloth linen in dining room. Price for two lobster is $80 to give you idea of pricing. Top of the bar in pricing. We had to sit at a bar table no linen and we ordered glass of Chardonnay and Grigio. We then ordered an appetizer of baked oysters. I asked how bit they were and she made an oval shape with hands that would AJ w been an average oyster. I said is that the oyster or the shell. She actually said shell???? WTH Pictured is the $20 appetizer. The tiniest oysters I have ever seen. This was the best restaurant in south according to someone. We are asking for our check and will go get dinner elsewhere. Told the bartender I was disappointed and that those were the tiniest oysters ever seen. She just said okay and brought us check. Poor quality, poor service and poor poor value!!!! **** I would not write a review and not relay information to manager. I asked for manager and politely described our experience in kore detail than even listed on here. She was receptive and offered to seat us in dining room, to comp our appetizer. I mentioned it was not about money and showed her that we had already closed our tab and tipped 15% despite poor attitude service. The manager "June" did a more than valiant effort to capture our experience and turn it into positiveness. I told her we had more or less made up our mind. She offered if we had time before leaving town to come back she would pay foe our dinner. So congrats to June and thank you for listening. I hope we get chance to try again. read more

A fire burns brightly in rural Mississippi. No, there's not another blaze at the local fireworks dispensary. I am referring to the magic that is Philip M's. The food here is the most delicious in the area outside of Wendy's and the servers are incredibly polite to everyone, even the guy in the full sweatsuit with the wolf stenciled on the back (I like glitter but that guy LOVES glitter). Come here if you want a great meal and feel free to wander out one at a time if you want to risk dining and ditching. You only live once! read more

This is hands down the ONLY place to eat at the Pearl River Resort. We sat at the bar and had drinks and dinner on a Saturday night. This is the only place with a full-bar and decent wine list. The bread basket is seriously delicious! The garlic biscuits are second to none! I also loved that the butter was perfectly soft. We ordered the 8-ounce filet, medium and a side of mac & cheese. The filet looked much smaller than 8-ounces (we grill 8-oz filets at home and this wasn't an 8-oz filet), but it was plenty. It was slightly over cooked, but still good. The mac & cheese was good when it came out, but seized up once it cooled off. Good, but not great. As I said, this is the only decent place to eat at the resort. We have been going to Phillip M's for over 15 years now. I will preface this review by saying this restaurant was a place you would remember "before" Phillip and "after" Phillip. Phillip being chief Phillip Martin. Everything about this property changed when he passed. And not for the better! But Philip M's has managed to escape others down fall. The food is still excellent. The service is still exceptional. Angela is our favorite and we are disappointed if she is off when we visit. I now look forward to visiting Pearl River for one reason- at least I can eat at Phillip M's!!! read more

Don't do it! We had a table of 12 and no one ate more than 2 bites of their steak. We are currently debating whether we were served horse, donkey, or coyote. They serve their "steaks" with some sort of rancid brown gravy on top that is putrid. The mashed potatoes were definitely powdered and microwaved. The baked oysters were horrible. We ordered 3 dozen of them and 32 were uneaten. One gentleman spit his out and described the taste with a body part that I will not mention. The rest of us are wondering where he got his reference from. My gosh, it's a good thing that place is in a casino. The room literally smelled like farm culvert after all of the food was there. One guy is currently considering loading up on Zofran for the drive home due to his food hangover. read more

If I could give a zero for star rating I would. we went for my husband's birthday and it was not a great food experience. Our waitress was nice but the food was terrible. My husband ordered the Wagyu Coulotte and I ordered the burger. My husband's steak was over cooked and rancid. First bite made him feel nauseous and could not even look at it afterwards. My burger was terrible and the homemade pickles made it worse. My father and mother-in-law both were disappointed in their food choices as well. Worst food experience ever. The food here is delicious! The Saffron Chowder is amazing! Six of us had dinner there two nights ago and we are going back tonight with a party of fourteen. The other night I had the Mixed Grill (scallops, shrimp, and sea bass with sautéed peppers) and it was great. I couldn't finish it because I ate so much delicious bread and chowder. My boyfriend had the Lamb Chops and sautéed spinach...both were awesome! Our friends had crab legs, filet mignon, sea bass, and soup and salad. Everyone enjoyed their food. They bring you Lindt chocolates after dinner and the ladies get a long stem red rose. :) Tonight my boyfriend and I are getting steaks because of how delicious our friend said her filet was. But I could be happy with just the cheesy garlic biscuits and the Saffron Chowder. I will be dreaming about that soup the rest of my days. read more

Stopped in for a light bite for my husband's birthday. The fried oysters were terrible ($18). We could not eat them. Tasted and smelled bad. Bread was delicious. Soups were excellent. Ordered the wedge salad which said it was $12. Underneath it said, add chicken or shrimp $15. The wedge came with 3 shrimp and we joked that the shrimp was $1 a piece. We thought $3 extra ($12+$3=$15). Well the joke was on us because adding 3 shrimp to the salad was actually $15 on top of the $12. So we paid $5 for one steamed shrimp! Wedge salad with 3 shrimp was $27. What a rip off! Restaurant was nicely decorated but do not recommend. We were staying at the Golden Moon for just that night. Restaurant was convenient but lesson learned. Very disappointed. read more

If you go, you MUST try the Saffron Chowder! This is the most delicious thing you will eat. Served in a mini soup tureen with puffed pastry bellowing out of the top, this warm creamy seafood chowder will make you slap your mamma! Normally I like to watch people order an appetizer, salad, the Saffron Chower and an entree and sit back and watch their expression as the food arrives but I will be kind. A salad and the Saffron Chowder will fill anyone up. No need to order an entree. Phillip M's also has a full bar and large selection of nice wine. Enjoy. read more

Went for my 30th birthday. Service was completely terrible. Waitress didn't even know what kind of alcohol was in a margarita, never got water refills, and she brought our check before we were done eating. Steak was ordered medium rare, it was medium at best but we had already wait 40 min so I didn't want to send it back. I will not go back and I suggest you not either. read more

This is 5 star in every respect - atmosphere, service, and you can't begin to describe the excellent menu. The food is out of this would. Last night I had escargot, 18 oz bone-in ribeye and cream brûlée. Talk about good!!!!! Have there many times and never had a bad meal. There were 5 in our party and everyone was overwhelmed. This was the best decision we made all weekend. The food was wonderful and the quiet surroundings were a welcome respite from the casino. The three of us had porkchops, steak, and seafood. Every meal was perfect. From the lady who seated us (ask for a corner booth) to the waitress we could not ask for a friendlier more professional staff. I had the chef's choice porkchop and it was the best porkchop I have ever had. Everything was great. When you go you MUST try the saffron chowder....it is awesome. We called before we left jackson, an hour and a half away because the website had two different closing times, one 10:30 and one 11. The hostess said 11. We sat down at the bar at 10 o'clock, was greeted with "can I help you" and ask for menus and the bartender proceeded to tell us the kitchen was closed. There is a HUGE sign at the door which states the hours of operation are 5-10:30pm. The manager comes out to tell us they close at 10, the kitchen was done cooking and she's not sure who we spoke with. As she walked off the group of three sitting beside us was getting their appetizer... At 10:35, their entrees were served. Completely ridiculous when all we ask for was a medium rare steak. I can't tell you if the food is good or bad but the service was terrible in every aspect. read more

This was the worst experience my family and i encounterd during our visit at the Pearl River Resorts. We wanted to end our family vacation with a nice fine dining experience this wasnt it. We had a party of around 9 therefore we were seated in a nice elegant private area.Great.The waitress came and took our drink orders she returned with our drinks.Great.We looked at the beautifully whipped dishes of butter on the tables.We looked and looked and looked. After an hour of looking and timing to see what happened to our waitress a family member went and asked the manager who brought our bread and refilled our drinks.We placed our orders for appetizers and waited until they came .Next the entrees. The manager repeatedly apologized and constantly came to check on us.They did explain that it was crowded. I was disappointed when they told us our waitress had an assistant who was assigned to help her whom we didnt see to the very end until after we had to make complaints. I engage in fine dining all over the world this wasnt it the looks yes but the customer service and quality of food no. The buffet may have helped on this visit.If i visit this area again this reataurant will be passed by . Customer service means alot no matter how much you pay. People save up for months to vacation with their families to have great experinces not to go somewhere and be treated horrible. I hope the waitress and her assistant can one day put their families in my family place and receive the service they provided.Very poor customer service. read more
