So Mauricio has been the owner for a while now and he and his team do great work. I have a 2007 Ford F150 and he has done everything from rotors, pads, brake master cylinder, tune ups, you Name it he has done it to my truck. He just recently replaced a started he put in a few Months ago under warranty and when I tell you I trust him believe me, I trust Him! He is a great man and a great person to have in your corner should you need ANYTHING! If you are having issues bring it by and have him look at it and he never ever tries to over sell me anything even when I say maybe we should replace this or that he always tells me you don't need it. The owner was in front of me at in n out burger, he heard my motor and got out and gave me a free T-shirt. Then told me this sounds like the 7.3. He wasn't wrong, man knows his motors. But every man loves a free T-shirt. Perfect timing too, I've been meaning to take my truck into the shop. I just didn't know which one everybody says they can work on the 7.3 but that's not always true last place I took it. I spent close to $5000 and after I left, there was a shutter. I figured it was the transmission so I just lived with it for a while. I've been put some fluid in the transmission that's for the shudder. But it continued figured that's what happens at 230,000 miles. So I took her in because she also had a severe oil leak. I was afraid it was the rear main. It wasn't, luckily, it was a couple sleeves around the turbo. The shutter had to do with injectors. The check engine light was still on so he called me and asked if I wanted to replace the glow plugs none a must have but since I've owned it the last 80,000 miles it's always had a check engine light. I have an exhaust system straight from the turbo because it's registered in Arizona. My truck is never ran so well ever- and I bought it from a Ford Tech. I also had an off duty Ford Tech and saw a high-pressure oil pump redhead steer box and a whole new fuel line system. There's a couple other things, but I can't remember, but I had asked the Ford Tech I bought it from what would you do to make it perfect. So I did everything he said, and went to a guy he referred. The truck after that ran really well. The steering was phenomenal. But after Philips and Son's automotive got through with it. It's never ran so well, ever. It runs like a new excursion. I had a 7.3 back in O2 so I know what it's supposed to run like. This one actually runs better because of the non-California compliant nonsense not on it. Don't worry California- It's going back to Arizona. The pricing was very fair as well. If you've got a diesel of gas and electric scooter, I think these guys can handle it. The owner is very honest he could have very well told me: Hey, it's your rear main seal and it's going to cost X amount and I would've paid and he knows it. He could've got an extra most likely 2k to 3000 out of me. He knew this is my baby. But the man was honest did everything that it needed. This is the first time ever check engine light is off. It was always on before due to a glow plug. Doesn't get very cold in California. I will be taking everything there from here on out. read more

Threw a rod in my Toyota Tacoma with a 3.4L V6, needed a new motor so I ordered a used motor from JDM and had it delivered to Phillips and Sons. They were fantastic, the motor was delivered they scheduled the install. It took about a week, they replaced the motor, the radiator as it was failing and anything else that looked funny including a broken motor mount, they fabricated a new one and had it welded on. I had one leaky fuel injector seal so they replaced all of them for me, if one is leaky the rest are right behind it. They called for pick up and let me tell you that truck has never ran better, these guys got rid of every rattle and vibration the truck previously had, smooth sailing all the way. I would give them 6 stars but yelp only has 5. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone needing quality work done!!! Thanks guys!!!!!!! read more

You should read this review if you are looking for a good mechanic who is reasonably priced. More importantly you should read this review if you want to be sure that the mechanic you are employing is trust worthy. Let me tell you a little story... ... I needed air bags for the rear suspension on my pickup truck so I could tow my trailer in good fashion. I am not mechanically inclined and had no idea what to purchase or how to install. Phillips and Sons Automotive was recommended to me by my neighbor who works at a business with a lot of heavy duty trucks carrying heavy equipment. Phillips and Sons had done work for them and were recommended to me. I called and spoke with Bryan who had done some towing of his own and he knew exactly what to buy and install. Bryan recommended I include an on board compressor to make it easy to adjust the bags to the load. In a couple of days I had my truck back with the new air bags and an on-board compressor. I looked over their work and was very happy with the workmanship and placement. They even made sure I had the old parts which were removed to make way for the new bags. All in all I was a happy and satisfied customer. I burst the air bags within the first 1,000 miles and was not happy. I called Bryan and he said I should bring the truck in so he could look at it. I mentioned to him that I had filled the bags to 75 pounds. He said that the bags were rated for a max of 35 pounds. I told him that I could swear the documentation said minimum of 5 and maximum of 100. I dropped the truck off and he called me the next day letting me know that the manufacturer would take responsibility for the bags and he would replace them at his own expense and I could pick up the truck tomorrow. Yeah! What I did not know at the time was that Bryan was 100% correct. I began looking through the paper work and realized that min 5 max 100 was the rating for the nice compressor he had installed. When I looked at the documentation for the bags themselves it was min 5 max 35! I told him that I felt bad and wanted to pay him for his labor, after all I drove the truck/trailer around at more than double the capacity for 1,000 miles before they finally gave up the ghost. Bryan said he appreciated my honesty and would not take any money from me. He did all that work at his own expense knowing that I was the one who made the mistake but wanting to make me happy and honor me for being honest about my mistake. This is only my second review on Yelp and I have written both of them because of the exceptional service I have received. I was so impressed with Bryan at Phillips and Sons Automotive that I had to share this with anyone who may be looking for a good shop which does great work and who we know to be honest to a fault. read more

I called him early in the morning to see if he had time to fix it. Even with his busy schedule he had me tow it in. By lunch he knew what the problem was and had an estimate ready. This place is AMAZING and let me tell you why. I own a 1999 Ford F-250 Diesel In 2010 I got what is best described as a ruff idle in the motor. I took the truck to FORD dealer (Auto Nation, Torrance). They ran the codes and told me it was injector number 4 failed and wiring harness. I had them do the work ($1300.00) Got the truck back seemed to be running fine. 6 months later the same problem. Ford said that it was still under warranty from the last repair and did the same work again. (another $ 1300.00 on them) It this point I stopped driving the truck and only used it for short small trips, as I was afraid of the problem coming back again. Well guess what it did but it was now 2012 and no longer covered. I had the truck towed in and they checked it. They could not get the problem to reoccur. Even though they noted the problem a being towed in. So the dealer asked if they could keep for awhile and let one of the employee's drive to and from home. I said yes,,,,,,,, about 30 days later they said still can't get it to fail. I took the truck back and drove it even less. So now my daughter is moving needs the truck. Okay it fails again..............Take to my local auto repair, they run the codes and it's injector # 4 and wiring harness. They recommend taking to ford dealer, so back to Auto Nation Torrance. The same service writer Tom Noons he calls me and tells me Injector # 4 and wiring harness..!!!!! This time it's about $ 3100.00 for the repairs and NO guarantee that this will solve the problem. That's right NO GUARANTEE that this is going to fix my problem. Okay I'm done, I have no confidence in them anymore. I go pick up my truck, pay the $ 230.00 fee for looking at it. I take the truck to Bryan at Phillips & Sons and explain the problem I have had for the last 4 years..............Yes,,,, this has been going on for FOURS years. Bryan looks at me and the first thing he said is "you know it's not injector # 4" They should have know that after the first replacement. I told him I was in no rush, I just wanted it fixed right. I called first and he told me if I could wait a few days, as his lot was full and didn't want to park on the street. ( note a friend of mine took his truck to an auto repair shop who parked on the street and they broke his window took his radio, CD's, New Boxed headlights and other items. The shop said sorry but they are not responsible) Okay back to Phillips & Sons..... I get a call from Bryan and he said your truck is ready......I said really I mean really it's done it's working..... Yep His mechanic read the codes and saw that power to injector # 4 was low. He then checked the outside visible wiring harness. He found that the insulation covering the wire to injector # 4 had melted onto the valve cover. This caused a short to the injector making it fail.He cleaned it up and re- insulated it. DONE..... This my friends is why you take your car/truck to real mechanics and not someone on a commission that can only read codes. I waited several months to write this to be certain that the problem was fixed. Well it is and thanks to Bryan and his staff I have saved over $ 3000.00 and now have a new love for my truck.
