Food was tasty, service was excellent and prices were very reasonable. Our server was responsive and very friendly. Ambience was small town.

I arrived in town for a business trip, and stopped for lunch. I would rate it your typical small town local dinner. Some of the reviews are pretty harsh, but suspect those people expected a shiny new cafe like where they came from. The decor or facilities haven't been updated, but the food was home cooked and the staff was friendly and informative. Very reasonable prices also. Multiple people where I was visiting recommended, which says more than the age of the paint on the walls. This is a good place if you are looking for a simple home cooked meal. read more

The server at the Phillips Cafe was friendly and the prices were reasonable. The blueberry pancakes were quite good and I would consider ordering them again. The pile of hash is gigantic. They had dozens of different pies listed on the menu. I was quite excited to try a slice (or two), until I found out that unfortunately only 2-3 were available at the time and they were not the flavors which I found the most intriguing. So, decided to pass on the pie. Hopefully the next time I pass through Phillips, they will have a fresh Sawdust Pie waiting for me. As for the ambiance and atmosphere of the Phillip's Cafe, a very graphic, bloody, and violent series of shows about serial killers blasted in the background on the television above the bar. Some of the patrons seemed to be extremely interested as they got up for their tables and went to the bar to sit and get a closer look at the violence portrayed on the screen. The cafe's walls and shelves are loaded with the caucuses of dead animals. I was a bit disturbed upon walking into the restroom to find that it hadn't been cleaned in what appeared to be several months (hopefully it hasn't been years). After walking out of the restroom, I decided it would be a good idea to keep my gaze away from the direction of the kitchen so that I wouldn't see anything similar in that direction. They do not have the ability to accept credit cards, so be aware of that when making your trek to Phillips, Wisconsin. However, they do have an ATM machine on location, just in case you forget to bring your cash. read more

Staff is amazing! We have eaten here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is always good and the ingredients are fresh. The only reason I took a star off is because sometimes the prices are a bit high. It's really a tourist type of town so it happens at some places in the area. Absolutely recommend eating here. read more

Our favorite breakfast cafe was booked, so we wandered over here. The first impression I it when I walked in was the smell. It smelled like a uncleared and over used urinal. I almost walked out, and I probably should have. We waited 10 minutes before anyone offered to take our order. We then waited 30 minutes for our omelettes. I had the logger omelette. The veggies were still crunchy with no flavor. The ham was diced poor quality. No flavor at all! The Corned Beef Hash was obviously out of a can. It was the only thing cooked properly. The beast part of the meal, the sourdough toast was very good. I will not be recommending this place to anyone. read more

Purposely asked the waitress if the Pizza Burger was 2 patties of meat with cheese in between. She said yes and that she had eaten it and liked it. When I bit into the VERY thin patties served on on VERY thick toasted mile-high bun, (I took half of the bun and cut in into two pieces lengthwise), there was nothing inside but a runny, pizza-flavored juice. Showed it to the waitress when she came back to ask how everything was and she repeated that there was supposed to be cheese inside. (Yep, I heard that somewhere before.) She turned around and walked away, no apology or fixing the situation or even asking if I wanted to order something else. Fries were very thin and BLAH and not hot. Coleslaw was okay but swimming in too much dressing. Coffee was very good. They don't take credit cards and she didn't take anything off of my bill. Daughter added a couple of slices of bacon to her grilled cheese and they charged $2.70 extra for that. I know bacon is expensive, but I think that's a little too much. I am willing to pay any amount if I get GOOD food and SERVICE but don't like to be lied to. It seems this restaurant doesn't care for return customers but just wants to make some fast cheap change. Funny thing is that I am a local resident now and will need a caterer in the future for about 200 people and this "Phillips Cafe and CATERING CO.
