    Fantastic breakfast!

Everything about this place is great! The service was fun and prompt. The food was delicious and ample. A total winner!

Delicious, homemade pizza at the Butternut Cafe!

THE BEST SPOT TO EAT IN WISCONSIN! The Butternut Cafe has an extensive breakfast menu full of delicious choices. My favorites were the pancakes and the "Toad in a hole" where the chef makes a fried egg in the middle of a buttered piece of toast. Veterans drink coffee for free. Stick around for a lunch and get the soon to be famous "Mighty Midget Burger" along with a malt or shake. The burger has a patty that is filled with cheese, onions, and whatever else you want. All the food is handmade and a lot of the meat comes from local farms. Pizzas in the evening are the best. All the pizzas are made from scratch any way you like. I recommend the sausage and mushroom pizza. The owners are locals who also work at the cafe. They have created a down to earth, friendly establishment where everyone is on a first name basis. If you are ever anywhere near Butternut, make sure to stop here at least once!

Seriously good food at The Butternut Cafe. Tonight's Friday Fish Fry classic Fish & Chips featured a beautifully battered and fried piece of cod. Malt vinegar on the tables. Tartar sauce on point. Tangy cold coleslaw. Wash it all down with a Miller High Life and it's the perfect father/daughter vacation dinner date! Breakfasts are great here as well and the pizzas are superb - and that's coming from someone who eats a NYC slice at least once a week! Definitely making a trip back for a delicious meaty cheesy burger treat before I have to leave Butternut. Thanks to the Van Ordens and their awesome staff for a wonderful time as always!

Not only was it…read moreincredibly small- especially for an almost $14 burger (in a small town in WI no less) but it tasted reheated- dry, with no flavor and was slapped upside it's sorry dry face with a slice of processed American cheese. It was served with supposed hand cut fries that tasted like they were frozen fries you make in the oven. Everything came lukewarm, the processed cheese refusing to even give me the small pathetic victory by agreeing to melt on top of the dry meat pile. Even the cheese wanted out of this pathetic mess and back into the safety of its crinkly Kraft wrapper. I eyed the A&W right across the parking lot with a tear in my eye and thought once again of my bad life choices. I will never be eating here again and honestly wish I had read the reviews to save myself this experience and my $$. It's not too late for you.
