I needed a smog test per the dmv's request and he did everything so quickly, I was in and out in I think 15min? Could've been 20-30 though? Idk I lost track of time. I have no idea what the going rate is for smog check that's STAR certified this is the first time I've had to do this, but I was charged $65 for an SUV. To me that was a doable price. Be forewarned, the basic fee has taxes and stuff that walked it up to $77 out the door, which was disclosed up front, so kudos there. I also made a reservation online but the guy took me early when I arrived, and in about 15 minutes he announced my car passed and provided the paperwork and scanned myDMV form. It's imperative that you bring that to your session. Nice guy, very friendly and professional. They offer a $32 service for expediting payment for the registration same day, but if you have a computer at home, you won't need that. All-in-all, a quick appointment, and unavoidable, but I would definitely come back if or when (probably next year). Pro tip: Fill up your tank and use a fuel injector cleaner from Autozone or O'Reilly's. Most importantly though, if your check engine light is on, you won't pass.
