I recently was required to complete a smog check on my 2017 HRV and searched online for reputable places for a smog check. I found this location online and it had amazing reviews and they did not disappoint. I called them right before closing time and they where more than kind and helpful. They took me in 30 minuets before closing time and said they could get me out in less than 20. Told me the price over the phone and even offered to me the online coupon to take 20 off without even having to ask. Showed up and it was just a small unassuming shop in a little plaza off Sunnymead Blvd right across the street from the Burger King. Came to find out this was a small family owned business ran by the owner and his daughter. I walked in and was greeted right away by by the shop owners daughter. She was explaining the process and the pricing. Right after the owner who spoke to me on the phone appeared and already knew it was me. I knew ahead of time that my evap was incomplete when I tested my cars readiness with the torque app on my phone and an obd2 dongle, before coming in to the smog shop. This was cause by having a dead battery, and lack of driving which doesn't allow the car to have enough road time to complete the test. BAR website said that for my car that would not cause a fail so I booked an appointment and drove for about 20 minutes to warm up the car before the appointment. Owner was very friendly. Gave me the coupon discount from his website. He warned me that if codes were recently cleared or if battery was disconnected, there may not be enough time for the car computer to retest itself. I knew I was good so I told him to go ahead and test and I passed. The digital certificate was uploaded to DMV and I got a copy. :-) Will be bringing my other vehicles for smog testing here. I realized last minute I needed a smog test to renew my car registration. Found The Smog Shop on Yelp and gave them a call. He was super friendly on the phone and in person. I arrived as soon as the shop opened. With one other customer ahead of me, I was out of there in about 20 minutes tops, including the wait for the car head of me (approx 10 mins per car). The shop is clean, the tech is friendly and knowledgeable, and he honored the Yelp coupon for $20 off their regular $60 price. No frills, no fluff, no haggling or harassment, just straight to the point and I loved it! Getting quotes from different places was driving me insane as this was my first time taking my own car to get smog, so naturally I didn't know what to expect price wise. Some places wanted $65+, others wouldn't quote me with an "out the door" price, telling me "oh this is the price but with this coupon its this non-even number + the certificate fee." Then the ones with a low price had terrible reviews doubling down with terrible replies to the reviews that just show me they're just not good people. All the while making sure to sanitize prior to handling the interior of my car and handing my paper work. He was fast, super friendly & very affordable. There seems to be a handful of choices for getting a smog inspection in Moreno Valley so it was pretty difficult for me to choose a station that I thought would be best. I recently brought my car back from Texas and was looking to get my car smog checked Saturday morning so I can go get it registered. I actually went to the smog station across the street from this place. However, those guys weren't at their station at 8:30, which was when they were supposed to open. I waited until about 8:35, then I looked through Yelp and found The Smog Shop. They too opened at 8:30 and let me know there wasn't a wait! Drove across the street, was taken care of promptly with awesome service. Took like 20 minutes. $40 flat out the door with a Yelp check in, which seems to be the standard price around here. Their waiting room is small, but no complaints for me. I wouldn't hesitate to bring my car back again. With all the competition here, The Smog Shop is doing it right. Check it out. read more
