The takeout process was in itself unique. I pulled up to what they called a "yellow tollbooth) to pay. He called on his radio that I paid and I pulled up to a covered door and they handed off my food. The overall ambiance from outside looked cool enough. Next time, I will eat it there, but I just did not want to be inconsiderate to everyone getting out on time. I found a local park and tore into my food. I went with the large surf and turf po' boy (roast beef and shrimp) and found it very good. For the price point, out the door with taxes, it was just over twenty dollars. We adopted our dog back in Feb and was looking for places to take her that was adulty as well. And sure enough, this place was highly recommended to us. We did research and knew we had to register our dog and provide all the paper work to show she is up to date on her shots. So, we did all that before and we brought the paperwork in case. We were greeted by a very sweet lady and she looked over our stuff and showed us how to use the website and app to log in and to open the physical gate there. They normally charge a $5 fee for non members, but they were kind enough to wave it. We also happened to come during happy hour and they had some delicious cocktails! Their HH is daily from 4-6. They make a really tasty martini espresso called the Iced Zoomies (it is not on the HH menu FYI). We didn't order any food yet. However I did order a pup cup and she loved it. We have been a few times since. I love the atmosphere. It is laid back and the chairs are comfortable. You can sit at the bar or in the dog area. They have plenty of fans and there are plenty of toys and kiddie pools for the dogs. It is all well kept. The dog area is AstroTurf, not grass, so it is good for dogs with allergies. The only thing I wish, was that the space for the dogs was larger, but not much they can do about it. The bathrooms are clean with super fun dog flooring and a doggie hook for your purse or something. The deck space is large enough for a bigger group, and again, lots of fans since this space is outdoors. I am really happy this place is here and that the people here and the space is so great!

Exceptional--a small amount, it may have even been a starter but regardless was perfect for me. The sandwiches other diners had on their plates were large and looked delicious just glancing around at other tables. Everything comes up fast and the atmosphere is . . . just ideally New Orleans. It feels all the way "working CBD lunch" yet unhurried, a reflection of Cochon's greatness but scaled down and with utterly no pretense. The lady monger demonstrated on her fish, and then watches you carefully, guiding you to ensure the best technique. There was about 4 people per cutting table and they also required use to wear apron and gloves. Don't feel intimidated because they are right there guiding, ensuring safety. It was a fun unique experience. Even if you know how to gut a fish, you may still learn something new! I have to come back and try some these fresh sandwiches or poboys. Well, this little mom and pop store beside the highway in Mid-city is about as authentic as it comes, but not for poboys, for Cuban food. I can say with confidence that they do the best Cuban sandwich in NOLA. And it costs less than $5. They are super fast. Expect to be in and out in 5 minutes every time. Sin falta. Fastest Cuban granny this side of the Florida straits! They also do a first rate hot lunch: beans and rice, yuca with mojo, roast pork, and flan. Ropa vieja. Anything Cuban, they'll do it. Pre-Katrina it was a full scale operation, but the grandma who forms the foundation for the enterprise now just does food to go at the back of the grocery store. My wife is Cuban, and let me tell you that this place is the real deal...better than the real deal because the family who runs it came over just after the revolution and combines all they know about their country's pre-Castro cuisine with New Orleans knack for kick it up a notch flavor. But loyal to the wonderfulness of their culture, they don't ruin the original, which is even rarer. Instead they improve upon it, but with finesse.
