If you want a Philly Cheesesteak in New Orleans, this is the place to go. I've been going to this place for years and they never disappoint me. Don't let the appearance of the place deter you, the food is legit. I always get the number 3 which is the surf and turf (Sirlion and Shrimp). Since the pandemic there are no tables or chairs, so be prepared to take your food to go. I recommend calling to place your order. They are fast so you won't have to wait long if you decide to order there. Philly's Cafe is located on Claiborne next to the McDonalds, plenty of parking. Give them a try.

A true classic !! Hole in the wall type of place with delicious and fresh food. I always order the surf and turf(shrimp and Philly cheesesteak) and am never disappointed! Always made coin to order and prices are pretty decent. If you're in the area, definitely make this one of your stops, even if your not in the area lol. It is well worth it!

No place to park at McDonalds so I decided to try Philly's for a cheese steak. On entering i noticed tue chairs and tables were missing. While ordering the gentleman raised his voice several times. Then he asked for my phone number and asked me to wait outside. That is a last and final visit. Cost $12.85 to eat in the rain.

I'm from South Jersey/Philly so cheesesteaks are my obsession as I grew up on them. I understand i've had the best of the best but I'm willing to try anywhere that says cheesesteak. The meat was seasoned very well but as it looks to be ground meat, it isn't. It is some sort of different steak cut. Either way, seasoning was good. Traditional cheesesteaks only have onion and cheese on the meat so that's what I got. Bread was the best part. However, as you can see, there isn't much meat on the sandwich. For $6, it was ok but Yinzer's Cheesesteaks and Liberty Cheesesteaks are more so worth it.

I've been craving a Philly & I went in & got a small size was a bit expensive for that small size. But it's was good! I enjoyed my Philly!

Good Philly cheesesteak! Kinda reminds of the Philly cheesesteak from the lake forest plaza growing up in the east! I'm not sure if these are the same folks! I ordered 2 cheesesteaks to go and when I arrived I was kinda disappointed that they needed an id to run a debit card thru, even if my husband had the pin??? Friendly customer service but questionable tactics in this certain area??

Once again New Orleans has disappointed this Philadelphian! The steak was sparse. It more like shredded beef than real cheesesteak. They do service on rolls from philly but they are all smashed. I just didn't enjoy it. It was salty too. The lemonade was great but full of sugar! I was pumped all day. The restaurant was clean and had a steady flow of traffic so people like it but it doesn't taste at all like home. I could see myself coming for breakfast but that's it.

Suppose to be a surf and turf!

This is my second time going here the first time was the same thing barely any meat I gave them the benefit of the doubt went back today for lunch and same thing they don't put no meat and you pay almost 12 bucks! Then when You try to call they don't answer and screen your calls! I actually sent them a message and picture of the sandwich nobody responded or said any people at my job been stop ordering from them for this reason I think everyone should know!

Seems like a pretty popular spot with the locals. I wasn't in the mood for a cheesesteak so I opted for French toast breakfast. It was pretty average, but it satisfied me enough.

Driving down Claiborne, I've always noticed Phillys Cafe but have yet to try it. My boyfriend, a lover of cheesesteaks, was itching to go. We finally went and were pleasantly surprised! The cheesesteaks were delicious! You can get a 7" or a 12" depending on your appetite. The cheesesteaks come dressed with lettuce, tomatoes, mayonnaise, bell peppers, onion, and mushrooms. They also serve breakfast as well as other sandwiches. This place is nothing fancy, but the service is great. If you're craving a cheesesteak, you have to check out Phillys Cafe.

If your place is named "Philly's", the cheese on your Cheese Steak should not be cold slices.

Before we went, I read these reviews and I was so looking forward to dining there for breakfast. I love breakfast and sometimes even enjoy it at night. But this? Oh no my friend. All of you who think you're eating omelettes? That's not just eggs that's got something mixed in with it that makes it super thick.. And believe me when I tell you, it does not look healthy. I ordered a hamburger and fries and a side of onion rings to share with my friend because she loves them. Everything was so greasy, not seasoned. The french fries didn't even have salt and pepper. Everything was so gross, the beef patty on my hamburger was disgusting. My friend wanted her food boxed so I got mine boxed up as well and I threw it in the dumpster on the way home, you should as well.. Tasteless, disgusting food and there is no butter there. Expect movie theater or butter on everything you order, that should tell you everything you should know about this restaurant.

This past week we visited and we could both tell right away things were different. The inside of the restaurant was filthy and I mean filthy. You could see the floor under the bar and in the kitchen hadn't been cleaned in months. The fryers hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. Everything just looked dirty and like no effort is put into cleaning and maintenance. We decided to eat anyway which was a mistake. We love their burgers that are cooked and steamed old school. We both ordered one. My wife ordered hers with bacon, which they charge over 3 bucks for. We both ordered our burger dressed with all the fixings. When my wife's burger came out it had no bacon and no fixings. I told the waiter and he said he would handled it. He never did as he started doing other orders. My burger had no flavor and it looked like the person that made it didn't care , which goes along with the restaurant cleanness. One thing that really turned us off was the was other guest were treated by staff. The "cook" was completely pissed off and had a horrible attitude. A group came in looking for a table and there wasn't room. He yelled at them that there wasn't room. They stood in the entrance area for a few moments and then he yelled at them that they needed to get out of the restaurant and wait outside. He told them this isn't a restroom so don't wait in line. The attitude and distain in his voice was overwhelming. A few minutes later a couple came in and found 2 seats at the bar. They decided to order food to go and was talking to the waiter. One of the 2 people ordering was standing behind the empty bar seat while they ordered. The cook yelled at this person that they needed to sit down. Both customers were stunned. The waiter told the cook they were making an order to go and the cook could be heard muttering under his breath. This little guy was nothing but attitude and seemed extremely pissed off the there. Maybe instead of being the restaurant traffic cop and total smart ass he should concentrate on getting orders straight since ours was screwed up and never fixed. Whatever charm this place had is gone along with the any effort to keep it up to clean standards.

It was massive and very hard to eat, and there was a lot of fried chicken skin. The mayo on the sandwich was definitely homemade and had a very strong egg flavor, so I would go without that next time. The biscuit was probably the best biscuit I've ever had. The service was quick, friendly, and kept everything moving smoothly, which was appreciated after a day of exploring. My only minor critique--and this is purely personal preference--would be that I would have preferred the shrimp tails removed. It certainly didn't take away from the meal, though. In fact, it led to one of the funniest moments of the trip when I squeezed a tail to remove it and accidentally launched it across the table toward one of my buddies.
