My sisters and I visited Brown Butter Depot on Saturday, and I can't say enough great things about this restaurant! From the moment we arrived, the food, service, and ambiance were absolutely outstanding. The staff was incredibly attentive, making us feel welcome throughout our meal. The portions are generous one of my sisters ordered a salad that was so large she had plenty left to take home for her husband. My other sister ordered the breakfast croissant, and I had the smash burger, which practically melted in my mouth. Of course, we had to save room for dessert! We shared the vanilla bean crème brûlée and the beignet fries, and both were absolutely delicious. If you enjoy a good cocktail, you'll love their drink menu too the cocktails are amazing, and the prices are just as impressive. What really set this restaurant apart, though, was the customer service. I had a small issue with my debit card, and the owner personally called me afterward to make sure everything had been taken care of. That level of care and attention is rare and speaks volumes about how much they value their customers. Brown Butter Depot has definitely earned a spot on my list of repeat visits. We're so glad we discovered this neighborhood gem for brunch. Every dish was exceptionally fresh and full of flavor. The hog head cheese, served with its accompaniments, was outstanding, while the pimento cheese paired beautifully with the eggs and boudin hash, creating a unique and delicious combination. I came for the Brussel Sprouts!! They are tangy, warm little nugs of crunchiness from the flash fry. If you love a little umami order a side of pepper jelly and you get the sweet heat alternating with the salty tang. The flavor will smack you and you keep coming back for another bite. I also enjoyed their burger with fries and garlic aioli. Burger cooked to a perfect mid-well temp just the way I like it--dressed, extra pickles no onions for me!! My waiter Dylan was attentive and a whole vibe himself! Come enjoy happy hour apps and beverages inside or outside; this location on Gretna's square is a wonderful stop after a long day of work. Brown Butter is in the house. Oh baby, when the algorithm works. Saw a post that BB was back in a new place. I ran to the Insta page, I scoured their website and made reservations immediately. Our Sunday Funday of yard work (nope, not fun) was duly rewarded with dinner out. Parking proved to be super easy. While the hostess never asked about a reservation, we were seated promptly. Had my boy look over the burgers, while I ordered a beer for my burger beer combo and the mussels to start. Wow! definitely a big enough portion for a main, the mussels were delicious and my son eagerly sopped up the mussel liquor with the fries. Next we ordered The Box Car with cheese and bacon (I was told I could order any specialty burger dressed) and the Bleu Shroom. Our burgers were BIG and juicy and just as I remembered them. Another table heard us talking and commented that they too were long time fans. In all the madness, I forgot to take pics in my over zealousness to devour my selection. Quaint little spot in an old house with a nice menu and good service. The Brussels sprouts are refreshingly simple - just flash fried with a drizzle of lemon and no fancy sauce or dressing. The BB Crispy Chicken salad has a really good pecan crust on the chicken that is somehow "laquered" on without being too sweet. Really good. And the Brunch Burger comes with a beautiful sunny side up egg, and the brisket/short rib ground beef mixture is very good. My only complaint is the garlic fries. I don't hate garlic, but I do hate the popularity it has now and the way it is applied so it overpowers everything else (and leaves a burning sensation in my mouth). But apparently I'm the only one. Everyone else is mad for garlic. I just want regular fries please. read more

So glad they have a new location! There's a large patio with outdoor seating. The weather was nice so outside was packed. Inside was very empty. I'm sure that'll change once the heat kicks up. Anyway, I went inadvertently close to closing time. However, we were promptly seated. Order the brussel sprouts as an appetizer. Very good! Loved those Brussels I also had the smash burger. Comes with 2 patties and bacon jam. I wish there was more bacon jam on the burger. However, the meat and bun were so good. They did have an apple cinnamon bread pudding on the menu but I didn't order it as I wanted to get out of their hair quickly since it was not closing time. So glad they're back. We wanted a hamburger so we headed to Brown Butter Depot. We were not disappointed. I had a delicious burger with blue cheese and my husband had a burger with cheddar cheese. The garlic fries that come with the burger were so tasty. The service was great and the prices were very reasonable. We will be returning soon. read more

The hostess was rude. She brought us to our table and never said a word. Didn't mention that it was happy hour, the specials, who would be our waiter and never told anyone that she seated us. The owner happened to see us sitting in the back room after we had already been sitting for about 7 minutes. She got someone to come and wait on us. Once we ordered and the food was brought out it got dropped off at the wrong table. So the waiter picked it up and brought it over to us and didn't even ask if we minded. He never came back to check on us. A different waiter had to bring us drink refills. The boxcar burger was dry and fell apart. Fries were just ok. Goat cheese salad was pretty good. Gumbo was tasty and had a lot Of substance. Try to do better, we need good restaurants on the Westbank and want you to succeed. We hope to visit again one day to see the improvements. CS read more

It makes my tummy and my heart so happy to see Brown Butter back and just as good as I remember. I love the new location in Old Gretna by the old train depot. I got the Brunch Burger which is a 1/2 lb brisket and short rib blend with a fried egg, smoked bacon onion jam, melted brie and arugula served on a Dong Phuong brioch bun with garlic fries and garlic aioli. Oh boy..... I have dined here three times and the service has gotten progressively worse with long waits once you are seated and no drink refills. My last visit had me waiting 15 minutes just to pay my bill....I told the waitress that I am just trying to pay. Is it new restaurant curse? Managers/owners please help! This was my first time at the Gretna location. I've been a fan since the Midcity location. The burgers have always been my favorite, so I had to grab one. My usual was always the Pimento Cheese Burger, but I decided to go for the Korean BBQ Burger. It was very tasty and cooked to perfection. The kimchi is a VERY nice touch. A very quaint restaurant that seems to be run by family staff. We stopped in for brunch and had wonderful meal. My wife had the shrimp and grits with perfectly cooked shrimp and the best creamy grits. I'm glad I got a side of grits, because she wouldn't let my fork anywhere near her dish. I had the chicken and waffle. The waffle was great but the chicken was a little overcooked and dry. I can see the idea the chef had, as it was double fried with two layers of breading, so if the first fry is done a little less it would be awesome! read more

I enjoyed the Barbecuban sandwich while my forever future enjoyed the Smash burger; both entrees complemented with their crispy, garlic, Parmesan fries and garlic aioli on the side. The wait staff all had friendly, yet professional demeanors. We especially loved the upbeat, back and forth banter/conversations with the wait staff. I placed a to-go order so this review is only about the food, although this new Old Gretna location did look really great inside. I LOVED the food tonight. I got the blue cheese burger that was so good that Brown Butter Depot will be my new go-to place for a burger)! The boudin egg rolls were amazing!!! The pimento mac & cheese was creamy and rich, with crumbs on top for a nice crunch. My hubby ordered the crab mac & cheese, and he didn't want to share even a bite! This is the type of place i would take friends visiting from out of town to eat. Get them away from the overpriced tourist traps for some really great burgers and New Orleans-style apps. it's wonderful to have a fantastic, affordable restaurant on the Westbank. I came in for a quick lunch from Jury Duty. From the jump, I want to say the staff were really nice. Sophia(bartender) check on my order alittle after 10-15 minutes. Which she walked out with it on her way back. 10/10 service I tried something different and ordered a Blue Cheese Shroom Burger and garlic fries. I was offered ketchup and mayo before the food came out. Let's say this, this was the first time I ate a burger without any condiments. My wife and I went to Brown Butter Depot for the first time recently. And it was excellent. Our server Dale was awesome and friendly. Even let my wife use his new jacket because she was cold. We got the boudin egg rolls with the homemade pepper jelly and cream cheese and they were amazing. I got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and it didn't disappoint at all. This place is the best! Absolutely delicious food and a great brunch option on the Westbank. They also have great happy hour deals. Service is quick and friendly. The patio is dog friendly. The inside is adorable and has the feel of a bougie bar where you can watch the game. The bartender/server Jessie is the absolute sweetest and so friendly and welcoming. First time trying out this place since it was Gretna Depot. Very impressed! My husband and I shared the pork rinds with ranch for an appetizer and the crunch on the pork rinds and the flavor of the ranch was so so good! My husband was very pleased with his smash burger and garlic fries, as I was very happy with the Bbcuban.
