Service was nice and timely. The latte was not strong and also lacked caramel flavor. The latte tasted more of milk than coffee/espresso.

Cute little place. The breakfast sandwiches were quite tasty. I had the KS special! Mushrooms. Perfectly cooked egg. Just a touch of run. Nice coffee. Pretty matcha latte. Cool hip vibe. Self serve but super nice folks behind the counter.

What a treat! My friends and I were in the area to visit Longwood Gardens, so we decided to stop by Philter. I loved the ambience inside and found it very comfortable and cozy. For their drink selections, they seemed pretty standard. There was this specialty mocha that sounded intriguing, but I didn't end up getting it. I opted for an iced hazelnut latte, and wow! it was good. I also liked that they offer the option to get your order for dine-in or to-go, so my latte was served in a stainless steel cup which was a fun touch. Overall, great vibes and great coffee!

Great coffee for a great price + great vibes. 2.50 for a 16oz coffee AND oatmilk wasn't extra!!Came in on a rainy day with friends and we could've sat for hours. It's cozy, inviting, and feels like a living room. Friendly staff with a diverse menu of drinks. Didn't try any of the food tho. Would recommend, and seems like a great place to work for a few hours and get comfy, especially by the windows! Could see it getting a little crowded tho, and run out of places to sit. No outside seating options either.

Oh so delicious, kind, cute, and worth a stop! When visiting family in the area I decided to seek out a spot serving Oatly oatmilk and was overjoyed to find Philter! Starting with an oatmilk Latte, the espresso was on point well rounded and smooth - low acidity and high joy. My oatmilk matcha was equally as delicious - even though it was sweetened it was not sugary but rather simply pleasant! I was grateful for the gluten free vegan chia pudding made with coconut milk and matcha flavor - incredible addition flry travels. Can't wait to come back and enjoy an afternoon of reading in this cute cafe with rustic decor, awesome local art, intriguing chocolates and tea, and a wonderful atmosphere. Definitely recommend for great service, style, and selection!

Such a lovely little coffee shop right in the heart of KSQ! You walk in surrounded by local fare and plants and are warmly greeted by the baristas. They have every coffee you could dream of. (Or teas if you're like me and can't always do the whole "coffee thing") Their chai is absolutely delicious! It's easy to get a too sweet syrupy chai but their is really well balanced and bright! My husband really loved his long black, which is a richer and stronger americano. They have some pastries and breakfast sandwiches there for those would would like a bite with their brews, all around, a darling place!

Talulah's across the street is for families, if you're single, this is the spot for you! Absolutely the best lattes around and the baked goods are pretty darn good too. So come in for that latte and hang or get one to go, you'll keep coming back for more! Baristas are quite friendly and have perfected their craft. The place is usually quiet and chill (except for that occasional family) lol.

You can tell that some places take pride in their coffee. This is one of them. My iced coffee had a nice undertone of flavor. It doesn't have to be too bold. It just hit the tastebuds different if you know what I mean. Plus, a pretty darn good breakfast sandwich on the croissant. I tend to be more of a fan of fresh off the grill. But these did the trick nicely.

Excellent cortado and breakfast sandwich. The rare coffee shop that hits the trifecta of great espresso drinks, tasty hot food options, and cute interior.

tl;dr a large, trendy coffee joint in downtown Kennett Square serving up an assortment of java brews and small bites Nestled between boutiques and mom-and-pop storefronts, java aromas from Philter coffee greet you before even opening the front door. The large space is filled edge-to-edge with tastefully worn wooden tables and metal chairs. The grey walls showcase graffiti portraits from local artists, emphasized by overhanging lights. Off-beat instrumental tunes buzz quietly among the chatter of patrons. Recycled wooden and metal furnishings complement a bevy of knickknacks, including custom metalwork and a working typewriter. My partner and I stopped in during our past day-trip to Kennett Square. The rotating menu was chalked onto a wooden board, and we opted to try a cup of single-origin Brazil Pereira. After a brief interlude where the baristas forgot our order (they made up for it by giving us a second cup of joe), we had the chance to sample our brew. A nutty aroma and initial burst of sweetness faded into a smooth, chocolatey bitterness. Paying a fair price of $4.50 for my cup, I could see myself opting for Philter for a catch-up with a friend. But with a shocking dearth of outlets and a relatively boisterous ambiance, Philter never would be my go-to workplace.

The vibe is light and airy, and the service is always friendly. I especially appreciate their rotating drink specials and options for non-coffee drinks, like a matcha. Also shoutout to the scones from OsoSweet bakery across Baltimore Pike--they go so well with a coffee and are huge and tasty. Chadds Ford Coffee House is what a chain like Starbucks aspires to be: local, cozy, and artisanal. Good music playing loud enough that you can hear it, but not so loud that you can't have a good conversation. There is wifi and a good amount of seating, including stools for solo diners who might want to open a laptop and send a few emails while eating the aforementioned giant scone. It's also easy to get takeout service, but I'd say it's worth spending a few minutes here to really savor your food and drink.

Ended up at Chadds Ford Coffee House on a day where a trip to a normal stop of mine was denied…read morebecause of the location I frequent being closed. Which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. I love to switch it up and try new places, and this was no exception, and I did get to enjoy not only a good macchiato, but also a lovely, light and fluffy croissant. However, based on the vibe when I walked inside, I had expected a step above from what I actually experienced. This is NOT to say that anything is wrong with this place; it is cute, the staff is extremely nice, and their coffee is good, just good. But there is nothing here that takes it up a notch to make them anything memorable or more than just another coffee stop on the road of many potential head turning exquisite coffee paradises. I was very excited when I asked about the macchiato, as they said they make them the traditional "correct" way, which is what I prefer. A very small, very potent and delicious amount of espresso, and I usually enjoy mine con panna which they were happy to oblige. While the espresso was pulled well and the drink was delicious, it did taste as if their roaster went just a bit too far, or they extracted just a bit too much. Not a big deal. However, at a place making this correctly, I would expect a damn good macchiato. The croissant was also tasty; buttery and flaky, and I am not sure if it was baked on site, but I feel like if it wasn't, they should consider doing just that, because that is what could elevate this to that next level and really make it a destination! All in all I was pleased with what I got and the price was reasonable for what we ordered. If I am in the area I will likely be returning to my favorite spot nearby that I frequent with reverence, and that is no fault of Chadds Ford Coffee House. But when coffee is needed and I'm around, if I can't go to where I normally would, this would be at the top of my list! Give them a shot if you travel route 1 through the area often and you may find you're new spot!

It is also much larger inside than you would think until you are in the space. There is a ton is space and a ton of seating dotted around the raw wood and metal interior and it feels very inviting to sit and spend time, enjoy pastries with friends, or even sit and get some work done, as it is not loud, but a very nice version of quiet. Never getting too loud even when the crowd picks up a bit or lots of orders are popping. The coffee was delicious. Made perfectly and just how it should be. Espresso drinks too the list for me, but there were so many different choices, and they all looked outstanding. However, where The Farmhouse really shines is in the crazy good pastries. They are so light and fluffy, so perfectly flavorful. The fruit tart was possibly one of the best baked goods I've had in many years. The effort that is put into producing their treats is definitely felt, and I am not sure if they make everything in house, but it certainly feels like it. There are many places that have great pastries, but not many get the European-style light and airy style just right with a bazillion layers. This place is at the pinnacle of that baking game. If you are in the area in the first half of the day, you value a good pasty, good coffee, nice people and a nice space, you should definitely make you're way to the Farmhouse. If you are nearby it's definitely worth a trip and if I lived closer, I could easily see this being my daily go-to. You will not find a fruit tart this good very often, so don't pass by and get there now and enjoy!

BLUF: Go check it out, you won't regret it…read more TLDR: OMG I'm so glad I stumbled upon this adorable coffee shop on cozy Main Street in North East, MD. It was just me, so I only got half a dozen donuts with a knife so I could taste them all! I tried: Cookies & Cream, Salted Caramel, Maple Bacon, Toasted Coconut, Chai, and Fluffernuter. Let me start by saying the cake part of these donuts is just perfect. Not too dense, lightly crisp on the outside, and insanely fresh. The toppings might sound over the top, but they weren't. They were perfectly subtle to add a hint of flavor without a dose of diabetes. And the coffee- such unique lattes both in name and flavors. I went with Davy Joey's Locker with an extra shot of espresso. So good. Not overly sweet and not bitter at all. And then I just had to try the cute little pistachio cannoli. Shell was filled upon ordering, so the shell was nice and crispy. Now this was super sweet, but I haven't met a cannoli yet that wasn't! Barista was friendly & bubbly and patient when it took me some time to pick my 6 donuts. Basic tables and chairs with some bench seating along the window. Pillows & chairs could use a refresh, as well as the bathroom, looking a bit worn & dingy, but that's literally the only negative thing about this place.
