This is a lovely coffee house right off Baltimore Pike that has a variety of delicious drinks, pastries, and a decent amount of seating. The vibe is light and airy, and the service is always friendly. I especially appreciate their rotating drink specials and options for non-coffee drinks, like a matcha. Also shoutout to the scones from OsoSweet bakery across Baltimore Pike--they go so well with a coffee and are huge and tasty. Chadds Ford Coffee House is what a chain like Starbucks aspires to be: local, cozy, and artisanal. Good music playing loud enough that you can hear it, but not so loud that you can't have a good conversation. There is wifi and a good amount of seating, including stools for solo diners who might want to open a laptop and send a few emails while eating the aforementioned giant scone. It's also easy to get takeout service, but I'd say it's worth spending a few minutes here to really savor your food and drink. read more

Stopped for an afternoon pick-me-up and it's a very nice, clean and open coffee shop. Super friendly staff -- I could talk to these guys on a normal basis if I lived here. The drinks. I ordered the matcha cloud and it was good. They're using pink coconut water and heavy cream in the matcha cloud. You can taste the heavy cream more if you don't mix it and you'll want it mix it. The cortado on the other hand was made very well, but the taste of the espresso was a little off. They must use a dark roast bean for their espresso which was just a bit bitter for the 50/50 cortado. Ended up at Chadds Ford Coffee House on a day where a trip to a normal stop of mine was denied because of the location I frequent being closed. Which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. I love to switch it up and try new places, and this was no exception, and I did get to enjoy not only a good macchiato, but also a lovely, light and fluffy croissant. However, based on the vibe when I walked inside, I had expected a step above from what I actually experienced. This is NOT to say that anything is wrong with this place; it is cute, the staff is extremely nice, and their coffee is good, just good. But there is nothing here that takes it up a notch to make them anything memorable or more than just another coffee stop on the road of many potential head turning exquisite coffee paradises. I was very excited when I asked about the macchiato, as they said they make them the traditional "correct" way, which is what I prefer. A very small, very potent and delicious amount of espresso, and I usually enjoy mine con panna which they were happy to oblige. While the espresso was pulled well and the drink was delicious, it did taste as if their roaster went just a bit too far, or they extracted just a bit too much. Not a big deal. However, at a place making this correctly, I would expect a damn good macchiato. The croissant was also tasty; buttery and flaky, and I am not sure if it was baked on site, but I feel like if it wasn't, they should consider doing just that, because that is what could elevate this to that next level and really make it a destination! All in all I was pleased with what I got and the price was reasonable for what we ordered. If I am in the area I will likely be returning to my favorite spot nearby that I frequent with reverence, and that is no fault of Chadds Ford Coffee House. But when coffee is needed and I'm around, if I can't go to where I normally would, this would be at the top of my list! Give them a shot if you travel route 1 through the area often and you may find you're new spot! read more

Coffee drinks are excellent, I've been here multiple times, have gotten exceptional pour overs. It's a nice small airy place. The owner is warm and very welcoming and knowledgeable. Honestly, I'm taking the time to post to offset the comment from the pretentious yelper who only gave them 3 stars despite his description of an excellent macchiato and fluffy croissant. Too bad we can't review other commenters. If I was in charge, he'd be sentenced to a daily cup of instant coffee for the rest of his life. read more

We've come here two times now. It has a cozy, farmhouse, clean, modern feel. Coffee is prepared with love and you can taste the care and quality. Scones are moist and delicious. One area of improvement would be the sound and noise. The coffee prep/ worker area is without a soft surface back wall, resulting in thunderous sounds echoing into the seating area. If they installed a sound absorbing canvas above the white tile along the entire back wall and commercial soft mats in the prep area floor, this would mitigate the problem. This is an adorable new spot!! Love the beautiful interior. The cashier was so sweet; she explained that their chai latte is unsweetened by default, and you have the option to sweeten it. I opted for unsweetened (I'm glad she told me!) and it was absolutely delicious!! The owner was making drinks and was very kind. I was in and out quickly to start my work day! Chadds Ford Coffeehouse has quickly become one of my favorite local coffee shops since their opening last year. They offer excellently crafted espresso drinks and also make a handful of syrups in house, which is something I always look forward to in a coffee shop (plus they offer seasonal drinks, I loved their winter seasonal syrups). Not to mention, the staff are so kind. If the coffee shop isn't too busy, they'll chat with their customers or even bring the drink to you at your table. You can really tell that the owners wanted to create a personable coffee shop experience. The shop itself has lots of seating and is very cozy. I ordered a couple of cappucinos here to go and was pretty underwhelmed. The service was very slow and the drinks were not great. There was a mom with three small kids in front of me ordering a random array of drinks and it never dawned on anyone to ask if they could they could get anything started for me. I almost left without ordering and will probably not come back. The baked goods looked interesting, but they did not have a huge variety on a Saturday morning. It is a nice space, but there appears to be a lack of comfortable seating inside. read more

I spilled my overly-filled cup of coffee. The cashier was very sweet. She cleaned it up mostly and said that she would get me another cup. She tried to make me feel better by saying accidents happen, etc. Then, the miserable owner stepped in reprimanding my sister for using up his napkins to assist in the clean up, and he began to talk demeaningly to the cashier criticizing her clean up method. I felt horrible. The cashier went back to get me the coffee and the Type A owner said that it was not his responsibility to give me another cup. While I agree that it was totally my fault, as a senior citizen I also felt demoralized. All this business owner had to do was invest the 50 cents to refill the cup and he would have gained a huge amount of loyalty and appreciation from me and my family. Instead, he gets a bad review and a suggestion to learn how to communicate better with his employees. Next time, we'll go to Wawa! read more
