    Chilaquiles verdes
    Cianah H.

I have been wanting to try this place for SO LONG, and I finally convinced my one friend to come with me. The service was excellent. Everybody was so kind to us and did whatever they could to give us a great dining experience. Now onto the food: I was a bit skeptical of the chilaquiles, mainly because the only time I've ever had them, were in Mexico and I am very picky with my chilaquiles. I like to order them with red sauce usually, but they were all out so I got salsa verde instead. The green sauce does not look as appealing in my opinion, but the flavor was amazing! I also got to try some of my friend's arepas, and they were also very tasty! I wouldn't mind coming back to Cafe Americana to try more of their menu items!

If you are looking to grab a bite to eat before going to Longwood Gardens, stop here for breakfast! The breakfast burritos were top-notch, the staff was friendly, and the restaurant and bathrooms were very clean

This is my favorite breakfast place in Kennett Square. It is open every morning and you can choose to sit outside where trains sometimes pass by which are very close. The best choices are French toast, pancakes, and omelettes. The first two optionally come with fruits which are always fresh. The staff is consistently cheerful and friendly and they will remember you from your previous visits. I went three times during the past few weeks; at the last meal I chose the delicious mushroom soup. There is more than enough parking in the little mall where the restaurant is located.

What an awesome little cafe! First off it's so clean, cutest decorations and super friendly staff! They have an adorable Fall menu with lots of added selections. The food was incredible and so cheap! We will definitely be adding this into our rotation and can't wait to dine here again!

This is a nice spot in Kenneth Square to eat at. We had brunch here. It wasn't very crowded thankfully and we got a table around noon without issues. The restaurant was nicely decorated with fall-seasoned touches. I had an omelette and my husband had their "fancy" French toast which was drizzled with Nutella and peanut butter goodness, strawberries and blueberries and tasted great. I thought it was a little odd that ketchup was given to me in a tiny container when I requested it for my home fries especially since I saw at least 10 full size ketchup containers on the counter. There was a full size container of mustard at our table but I can't see mustard being as widely used as ketchup. I also didn't notice until we were leaving that a bulletin board near the front of the restaurant featured specials, something you can't see at all from the back of the restaurant where we were seated, nor did the waitress make any mention of them. Those small things aside, we had a nice dining experience here.

Pork roll, over easy eggs, cheddar on white toast

Stopped in for breakfast, no complaints here. They have lots of good options, but I went with an egg and cheddar on white bread with pork roll. Sandwich was pretty good, very filling, eggs were cooked perfectly over easy, sandwich was cheesy. Bread was a touch over toasted. Also ordered a side of bacon - 4 crispy strips for a couple bucks. Overall a decent breakfast, but a little pricey ($10 for the sandwich and an extra protein side).

Food was pretty good - but it took quite a while for our food considering it was closing soon…read more While we were waiting on the sandwiches we ordered from the menu, we saw other people looking at different menus. We finally asked our waitress and she was surprised that we didn't get the "dinner menu". Yeah, we were surprised to find out there was more than just sandwiches for dinner. She apologized that the person who seated us just didn't give us the dinner menus even though it was just about 7pm! So she said if we wanted, they would let us order from the dinner menu and give our original food to someone else. Honestly, by that time, we were sitting there for more than 45 minutes and we were starving, so we just told her we'd take our sandwiches. I have to say she was extremely apologetic about it, and was genuine. We appreciate that, but it's still unlikely we'll return.

The food gives you that fine dining experience without the pretentiousness. The staff is warm and friendly -- shout out to Chet for his amazing service. They were also very accommodating to our son who was in between napping when we began dining, setting up a high chair for us in a way that would allow him to continue sleeping in his car seat. We started the meal off with some seared scallops that were perfectly arranged. Next, my wife had some seared tuna while I ordered the Colorado bison -- both items off of the special seasonal menu. The dishes were incredibly flavorful and the veggies that surrounded the meat added a nice complement. I also really enjoyed my California cab, as did my wife with her house Manhattan. We will definitely be back next time we are in Delaware, and highly recommend to anyone visiting the Hockessin area!

(Server rectified) The pasta carbonara was prepared using guanciale instead of bacon or pancetta. I found it too rich and almost over cooked. The duck wings appetizer my friend had were excellent. The fresh fish entree was delicious. The cheesecake dessert was a thing of beauty. I would probably try again, but it's a half an hour away. (We passed way too many other restaurants to try)

We started with crab and artichoke dip and beef and weck eggrolls, and our table ordered 2 fish and chips, the "Luxury" seafood pie, shepherd's pie, and the beef on weck sandwich. My weck included onions, mushrooms, swiss, and bacon with a side of au jus and horseradish. Yum, what a salty, savory, spicy combo. The roast beef was very tender and juicy. The fish and chips were all enjoyed, as were both pies. We did not make it to dessert but will try that again another time. We were in and out in about 1 hour without being rushed at all.
