    Lauren B.

*RUN*, don't walk away from this mess of a "nail salon". Firstly, before I go down the litany of how horrible this place is, I would like to state that the gentleman who works there is a kind and lovely human being. His coworkers (ie, wife and daughter), not so much. I went to this place a few weeks back to get a last minute mani before my sister's wedding. It was not a good manicure, but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and decided to go back this weekend. Hey, nobody is perfect all the time, right? I'm always one to try and give someone a second chance. Just for the sake of efficiency, take a moment to consider the price for this mani/pedi service: $53... and that's before tip. Anyway, the daughter (named Angela who I estimate to be in her very early twenties) did my pedi first. Not only did she unskillfully manage to file my toes nails into jagged, rough edges, but she was also completely indifferent to the level of service and attention she provided. At one point she nipped one of my cuticles so badly that it made me shout and flinch in pain and surprise. She barely even apologized. If that had happened at the salon I used to go to out of state, the tech would've expressed remorse and acknowledged that she hurt me. Ah, but not at Phinne's place! She haphazardly put on my polish (which bubbled over and had to be done a second time... btw, it still came out looking like crap), and then told me to walk across the room for my mani. I brought my own flip-flops, but she never suggested that I put them on before she finished polishing me and seemed pissed off that I even wanted them on. While she was polishing me, I figured she would use those paper/disposable post pedi sandals a lot of places use. Nope, not at Phinne Nails. So when I expressed that I did not feel like walking across the salon in bare feet, she made it pretty obvious that I was somehow messing up her entire afternoon. Is it so bad that a customer doesn't feel like walking in bare feet across a public place of business? Um... no. I'd prefer to keep my feet clean, thank you very much. After basically giving me the stink eye, she shouted something in Vietnamese to her coworkers (really they're her parents, this is truly a family business) and darted out the door. Her father, the kind man I made reference to at the beginning of this review, took over for my mani. He's a lovely man, but he is no manicurist. My nails, which are natural and generally very well taken care of, were basically ruined. Each nail is a different length from the others. All were filed and left with rough, gnarly edges (which catch on freaking everything now) and the polish was all over the place. Polish was applied too thick, so it never dried smooth. I always use a really neutral color on my hands, so painting my fingers is pretty easy to do, unlike darker colors that reveal any mistakes. But alas, even a color as meek as Essie's Ballet Slippers was too much of a challenge for this man to apply even remotely professionally. Meanwhile, don't even get my started on my cuticles... that's just a lost cause. So what was the length of my precious time wasted on this joke of a service? An hour and a half. That's right folks, I sat there for a good chunk of the afternoon listening to the daughter's philosophical perspectives of K-Pop (which she played loudly from her iPhone while telling the room all about the genre) and watching infomercials being blared from the salon's TV. I'm 40 years old. If I'm going to get a mani/pedi, I don't feel like listening to rap in a foreign language - I would actually prefer to enjoy some peace and quiet. Moreover, I'm not interested to learning about Larry King's Omega-3 pills he's peddling on an infomercial styled to look like a news program that's playing loudly over my head on a flatscreen TV. But at Phinne's place, you get to hear all that and so much more... I'm kicking myself that I was stupid enough to not only go back, but pay for this insanely poor mani/pedi. DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON. IT IS A MASSIVE RIP OFF AND IS STAFFED BY SOME REALLY RUDE INDIVIDUALS. Not to mention, I do a better polishing my own freaking nails, thank you very much.

First off, I love a bit of cultural sass, so I already knew I was going to get some attitude for walking back in and asking them to fix the absolute tragedy they put on my hands. second, I heard Mary was good but obvs she had no openings. I took whoever was available. Big mistake. To preface: I'm visiting family in town and typically do my own Gel-X nails at home, and my cousin is a nail tech...so I know proper protocol and was just going in for a quick, fresh gel polish appointment. No extensions, no frills, just simple polish. Here's the rub: The first tech finished the entire "manicure" in under 40 minutes. At first, I was like, "Omg great, that was so fast!" Then I got outside into the blazing sun. These puppies looked like I'd been surviving in the wilderness for two weeks. The polish was a good 1/4 inch away from my cuticles, and the sides were completely flooded with sparkles and polish on my skin (which they just casually cured under the lamp instead of wiping up). I haaaaaate confrontation but I went back in and showed them the mess. One tech looked me dead in the eye and told me I was "just complaining." That pissed me off. Uh, yes, ma'am, I am! Look at it! I wasn't even trying to embarrass anyone, but she said the first tech stayed so far away from the cuticle to "prevent flooding and damage" like she was doing me a favor. Proper prep work and pushing cuticles back is Day 1 of nail school. The entire reason we pay professionals is so our nails don't look like a Walmart DIY project gone wrong. I literally walked out of your door 5 minutes ago and my hands already look like they need a fill. I would have happily taken a refund for the 40 minutes we both wasted, but instead, the other tech sat me down, buffed them off, and started redoing them--using my hands as a live, emergency tutorial to teach her coworker how to actually paint a nail and do cuticle work. She explained to her a few times how to do cuticles. Which was great, because I've been a beginner too, so I get it. But I was already pissed off for being called a complainer. Look, I'm all for a learning experience and no shame at all to these ladies besides doing work that isn't good quality and sassing me. I was once a young cosmetologist myself (now I'm an old one ), so I remember the youngling salon days. But do NOT get sassy with me and act like I'm crazy for your salon's terrible work. And the grand finale? The second tech's "expert" redo was still below par. In her rush to file the gel off my skin, she filed the corners right off the sides of my nails, leaving me with naked, raw edges that are ready to snag on my luggage. I'm over it. If you don't know how to do basic nails, don't run a salon. Save your money and learn to do your own gel nails at home! It's super easy and you'll save the hassle places like this cause. I'm off to Walmart to buy some holographic glitter polish to fix this disaster myself.

Never in my life until I went to posh have I paid over 250 dollars for highlights and a cut... I had an appointment scheduled for November 9th I called and messaged the hair dresser personally to cancel the appointment on the 7th simply because I cannot afford the amount they charge. They have a 48 hour cancellation policy I called and texted the stylist 2hours outside this policy and she charged me 190 bucks and REFUSED to refund me. She said if I called 2 hours earlier she would have or if I agreed to reschedule she would give me half my money back. It wasn't until I told her I did not want to rebook that she charged me. I messaged the Facebook page to get in touch with the business owner who never responded. I then called the salon today and the owners assistant refused to let me speak to the owner about what happened. While I understand policies are in place it was extremely unprofessional of the stylist to tell me she understands things happen and then to go and charge me almost 200 bucks. Had she only charged 50 I wouldn't have minded. These actions reflect badly upon posh as not only a business but as human beings..... when someone is kind enough to call you and personally tell you that they are canceling due to finical barriers and you go and claim you understand then still take their money that's just degrading and disgusting. All I was told from the "assistant" was that "This is a very strict policy and everyone here has paycheck to make" and that "I won't listen to you call a stylist names" Mind you not once did I call names I said her actions were Grimey and unbecoming and unappealing. Not once did I even say the work she did on me previously was bad in the slightest. This is simply about affordability in a very terrible economy and about price gouging. Not once did the stylist or the assistant even attempt to resolve the issue for me not once did they even apologize either. The fact that a 2 hour gap is all that mattered says a lot to me about the lack of compassion and professionalism of this business Please see pictures attached for evidence
