I had the pleasure of being a volunteer at Phlebotomy Training Specialists in the city of Artesia. My husband, Terrance and I came out to support our sister Ebony in the completion of her phlebotomy certification. It has a great atmosphere. The environment is very clean and organized. The formant is done very professionally. The training exhibited and performed was as if we were in a medical facility. We were able to ask Ebony lots of questions.We were able to learn a lot about how blood is drawn, the location of the veins and the names of the veins. We also learned why blood may be drawn from specific locations of the body. I was amazed at the wealth of knowledge that our sister was able to learn and exhibit in such a short time. Her instructor, Mrs. Acosta showed exemplary support in the task Ebony was performing. Mrs. Acosta has amazing energy. She was very approachable as well as very knowledgeable. If you know, someone that's considering becoming a phlebotomist, I recommend this School for your training and certification. I recently finished this course with Mrs. Acosta, who is very knowledgeable and proficient in her instruction. I was a student here and my teacher was Mrs Acosta she wasn't very patient with me. I felt like I was judged and rushed and it was only my first day omg . I can't believe I was expected to know everything right away . She sucks . She's also talked about herself way too much during the class sessions . They say they'll help you find a job but don't, I didn't learn much during my externship and had to wait 5 months just to be placed in my externship. I was in 3 week night class with a handful of intelligent women along with the best instructor, Mrs. Acosta. When she teaches, she makes each topic interesting and answers any questions or concerns we have. She is very hands on and just the nicest person to be around. Prepare yourself before you enter this class knowing that you will be taking in A LOT of information in the book, about the NHA exam (Mrs. Acosta goes over some options about studying such as websites), and poking your classmates (learning from each other meticulously though out the way). this school was perfect for me! I took the 2.5 week course which was plenty of time to learn. My instructor, Josh Peters, was so helpful and to the point. Such a cool guy and made going to class so fun! You need to obtain a total of 60 pokes, which he had us complete all in class since externships have been slower due to covid (no patients to poke). you are supplied with a book, however Josh encouraged us to mainly practice poking in class since we can't take the needles home, and can take our books home. I already passed my state exam, and what really helped me with passing was doing the NHA practice exams! I just finished my externship which they placed me in fairly quick once I submitted my test score to them! overall such a great experience with this school, they are so thorough and quick to help/give instructions. read more

Definitely would not recommend this school at all, can find somewhere cheaper and more efficient. The school provides a little small packet with a study guide and didn't even have most of the information on it regarding the test (I took the test already) hands on training was okay and the externship I have been attending has been horrible. I took the phlebotomy training class, and it was great. Reyna (the instructor) was awesome. She was extremely helpful with teaching the whole process, was very friendly with a great sense of humor, and encouraged everyone to keep at it, and not to give up or get down when you had a hard time. She made everybody feel comfortable, and after the first couple sticks, my nervous wreck self was at ease. She was always available to answer any questions (even after hours through text). I strongly recommend taking Reyna's class through the school. It was a great, low stress experience, and was so helpful to set me on a new career path. In my opinion, Phlebotomy Training Specialist has the best program for anyone looking to become a certified phlebotomist. The class is only 2 and a half weeks, and although that sounds like a short period of time, Reyna, the instructor, goes very in depth and detail about everything you'll need to know for the NHA exam as well as out in the work field. I live closer to Culver City and still drove all the way out to Artesia because Reyna was just so great. Highly recommend! read more

This course had to be one of the only best things that I completed during 2020. I finished my course on December 2020. It was a short 2 1/2 week course with hands on and lecture work. I completed the course with Reyna and let me tell you she knows her material. Reyna has lots of experience in this field and very interesting stories about this career. I enjoyed every moment of this course. Relating to the pandemic there were various precautions like Reyna took our temperature at the door. We must wear masks. We also sat six feet apart. When conducting venipuncture we wore appropriate PPE wear. The course was interesting and very straight forward. For the amount I paid it was worth. You pay for the book, the exam, and the class. The book is thin and mostly images and charts. The exam can be completed at home or at a testing station. Overall, I would recommend to others. If I would I would take again but hopefully I won't because I know that Reyna did a wonderful job in preparing me for the exam. Thank you! read more
