Pho 33 and Bun Bo Hue
Lieu N.

Was craving pho badly so we stopped by this lil hole in the wall and it was great! Ordered the medium-sized oxtail pho and a bun bo Hue. Really liked how they packed the bowls with meats and had all the toppings. Bun bo Hue lacked the spice that usually accompanies it and had a similar base to the pho, but the pho was good. This will be my go-to when I'm missing home

My daughter wanted one last meal here for dinner before she heads back home to Boise this weekend. Of course I was going to give her what she wanted but our last visit wasn't the best. Lack of noodles in my pho. The seafood pho my daughter got was ok and also lacked noodles. We came around 5:30 tonight and it was hella busy. We waited for about 5 minutes for a table and got sat pretty quickly. My daughter knew what she wanted. She got the fish sauce chicken wing dinner. I got the vegetarian pan fried noodles with extra gravy. We hung out while food was being prepared. It did come out pretty fast considering how busy it was. My dish came out first. I was surprised my veggies came out in a huge bowl! But I realized I asked for extra gravy and they delivered. My daughter's chicken wings came out shortly after and they smelled so good! I dished up my veggies on top of my noodles. It looked perfect! It had big chunks of tofu. My veggies were vibrant and fresh. I had plenty of sauce to make sure my noodles softened up nicely. My daughter's chicken wings were hearty! Those were not wings, them drums were drumsticks. They were all nicely coated in the fish sauce. My veggies were so fresh. The tofu was soft. My favorite part was the noodles that soaked up all that sauce! I added a little soy and Sriracha! Each bite was so good. My daughter smashed out about 4 wings. I was supposed to try one but I for full from my noodles. This meal was a complete 180 from our last. We got so much food! I'm happy to know my daughter got to try the wings tonight. I know it was something she wanted to have before heading home. We don't have this dish at our local pho joints back home. I will be sending her home happy.

I crave Pho 33 as the weather starts to turn cold. They have so many varieties of pho and ramen--from meat-filled to vegetarian and vegan options! Everything I've tried here is delightful! My go-to is a medium ramen with chicken broth, ramen noodles, and wantons. You can mix and match other options to fit your dietary needs. The ambiance and service is lacking, though. The ambiance almost feels like a cafeteria even though this place is not self-serve. The employees are kind. However, our water sat empty for a while, but the employees work as a team, so they do not seem to have just one section to manage. You will need to grab your own to-go containers for any leftovers. The containers are located under the TV on a table to grab for yourself. We also had to go up to the counter to pay as our check was never brought out (I still don't know if that's normal or if the service was just slow).

Visited Pho33 for the first time and it instantly became my favorite pho spot in Utah. I ordered the large Pho 33 ($14.50 + $3.50), and it was incredible. The portions were very generous--definitely enough to satisfy a big appetite or share. The broth was rich and flavorful. Pho 33 comes loaded with rare beef, brisket, fat brisket, shank, flank, tendon, meatballs, tripe, and oxtail. It's a beef lover's dream and every bite had something different to enjoy. The variety of textures and flavors made the bowl feel extra hearty and satisfying. The oxtail was the highlight: tender, meaty, and packed with flavor. The restaurant itself is spacious. I was seated quickly and my order came out fast, which is always a plus when you're hungry. The service was efficient and smooth. You will need to pay at the counter, which I actually preferred instead of having to wait for the server to come to you. For the quality and portion size, the price felt very fair--especially compared to other pho places I've tried. I'll definitely be returning. Can't wait to try more from the menu.

Seafood Lomein.

Today I decided to veer away from my Vietnamese menu standards at Pho 33 and I ordered their seafood Lomein noodle dish. It had plenty of seafood in it, including scallops, mussels, shrimp and squid, and the flavors were good if not exceptional. The noodles themselves were not up to my expectation and were an overcooked, soggy, scrambled mess. They were supposed to be pan fried but weren't. I also wasn't a fan of the carrots, cauliflower and broccoli which didn't really line up with the flavor profile of this dish. Next time, I'll stick to what this place is good at, Vietnamese food.

Tried the brisket pho this time! Everything tasted great! This is the only spot in salt lake that I go to for pho!

Not sure why it's taken me this long to write a review, but Pho 33 is one of my stables. I come here at least once or twice a month to indulge in the bun bo hue. It feels like home every time I take the first sip. The food is so affordable and service is attentive and fast. This is easily in my top 5 for best restaurants in SLC.

Hands down the best pho in SLC! Came in on a busy Saturday night and was seated after waiting 5-10 mins. The rare beef pho is *chef's kiss*!! Quick service, consistently good, and generous portions.

Went for pho here because my good friend was craving it. Put our name on the wait list and was hanging out in the waiting area and looky what we saw crawling on their south window, a damn cockroach. We bailed and probably will never be coming back here again.

Very legitimate Vietnamese restaurant. The pho is amazing, pick your broth, pick your protein, pick your noodles... and they bring it all to you with a smile! Who knew that my search for a great bowl of pho in Omaha, would take me to Salt Lake City!! Great service, great food, nice little place!

Bun Bo hue with Pho Noodles

Delicious Vietnamese food in Salt Lake City! Pho 33 is a very standard, no frills Viet restaurant. You're quickly ushered into one of the many booths or tables and given a menu to look at. They have all the classic options you'd expect - pho with various toppings, egg rolls, banh mi, etc. I was personally a big fan of their pork banh mi, which had really fresh bread and a generous serving of pork. Their Thai Tea was also quite refreshing, it was perfectly not too sweet. One thing to note is that I ordered the Pho 33 (with Ox Tail) and got very small pieces of ox tail, mostly bone, while my friend got two large sections of meaty ox tail. So the consistency might be a bit off here, but it's hard to be sure without coming back multiple times.

This restaurant was amazing! it had a great family atmosphere and all the servers were very patient and helpful with us having older individuals with us. I had the seafood stir fry and it was amazing! very flavorful :) would recommend this restaurant to anyone because the food was soo good

I'm severely allergic to nuts, is it safe for me to eat here?

Yes but do NOT order the sauces that come with the appetizers. Kindly remind the waiters that you cannot have anything that touches the sauces.

However, Pho Tay Ho in Salt Lake City stokes my curiosity in so many different ways. When you pull up to it, you'll know why. From the exterior, it looks like a normal residential home. By the way, there's plenty of street parking all around, so that part's easy. And then when you walk in, you see that the home has been completely converted to a small and cozy family Vietnamese restaurant. I lead with this because this place gives off Food Network-ish vibes, like a place they would or should totally feature, because how many places look like normal homes and are full-on restaurants inside, right? Once you walk in, you'll see that this place is run mainly by an elderly Vietnamese woman who has SO MUCH heart. My goodness, she's trying to make sure everyone dining in is loving what she cooks. And those that are helping? You can tell they're family too. If not direct family, they're family friends. It's that kind of establishment. You feel like you get some serious home cooking here. Whenever I go to a pho spot, I have to get the Pho Dac Biet, or the pho with all the fixins, because why wouldn't you? Haha. The way the noodles soak up the broth... it's quite succulent. And usually I don't add hot sauce to my pho (I do like to mix a combination of sriracha and hoisin to dip), but the hot sauce here is made in house and is super special. It resembles the chili crisp hot oil seen elsewhere, but yes this is made in house and it is a worthwhile add to the pho, as long as you like to add some spice, of course. I've been to Salt Lake City enough times now to where the Pho Tay Ho owner/chef knows me, and she always comes over to chat a bit to see how I'm doing. Makes me feel so much like a VIP! A great experience, and to me a must-stop every time I'm in Salt Lake. Pho Tay Ho is a must go for pho fanatics.

D Somi Special Rice Plate ($20): My husband ordered this since it comes with all three proteins: pork, chicken, and short rib. The meats were good, though the flavors were on the subtle side. They did not use broken rice, which was a minor disappointment. Crab Meat Noodle Soup ($17.50): The crab meat was minimal, but there was plenty of fried tofu sticks. The shrimp and other proteins were good, and the broth was rich and flavorful. We enjoyed it more than the rice plate and almost finished drinking the entire bowl of broth.
